Pioli pleased with Tonali’s recent performances: “His growth is there for all to see”

Sandro Tonali has had a very promising start to the season, scoring his first goal for AC Milan last time out with a lovely free-kick. Furthermore, he has looked a lot more comfortable on the pitch.

Many are hoping that the youngster can live up to the expectations this season after what was a rather disappointing 2020/21 campaign. And the start, as said, certainly indicates that this could be the case for Tonali.

During today’s press conference, Stefano Pioli was asked about the growth of the midfielder and he only had praise for him. In the first two games of the season, Tonali has shown that he’s a very complete player.

“I think his growth is there for all to see, he is complete. His qualities are showing, he is a serious guy. Sandro knows that there is great competitiveness in this team. They all know that it is not the number of minutes but the quality that will be decisive,” he stated.

Milan will take on Lazio tomorrow and Tonali is expected to start in the midfield tandem once again. However, he won’t partner up with Sandro Tonali this time out, but rather Franck Kessie who is back from injury.
