Pioli praises ‘excellent’ Maignan after Liverpool-Milan: “He must continue like this”

By Isak Möller -

Mike Maignan was the MOTM for AC Milan last night as they were beaten 3-2 against Liverpool. It would have been even more if it wasn’t for the Frenchman, who made several saves including a penalty.

The Rossoneri went into the first-half break with a 2-1 lead, to the surprise of everyone, as they scored two quick goals towards the end. Eventually, that wasn’t enough as they conceded twice in the second half.

Maignan certainly can’t be blamed for that as he did well (again) between the sticks. In an interview with Prime Video after the game, as cited by MilanNews, Stefano Pioli praised the goalkeeper for the performance last night.

“He is an excellent goalkeeper with great quality and he must continue like this. He is doing well,” he stated.

Milan will take on Juventus on Sunday evening and hopefully, Maignan won’t be called into action as often. Milan will need the three points to bounce back from last night and also continue their winning streak in the league.

  1. This guy is something else.
Milan got the best deal. I was really afraid and sad when we lost DOLLARUMMA. But when I knew we would be signing MAIGNAN, I was really happy. I knew he’s gonna do a great job because I’ve been following him for sometimes.
The good news is that he’ll keep on improving and he could even surpass DOLLARUMMA as the best.

  2. He has brought alot of confidence within the team and fans. the coach needs to sort the central midfielders. Tonali gives us direction, we just need someone who will partner him. Kessie is good but his mind is not right at the moment
