Pioli praises ‘excellent’ Maignan after Liverpool-Milan: “He must continue like this”

Mike Maignan was the MOTM for AC Milan last night as they were beaten 3-2 against Liverpool. It would have been even more if it wasn’t for the Frenchman, who made several saves including a penalty.

The Rossoneri went into the first-half break with a 2-1 lead, to the surprise of everyone, as they scored two quick goals towards the end. Eventually, that wasn’t enough as they conceded twice in the second half.

Maignan certainly can’t be blamed for that as he did well (again) between the sticks. In an interview with Prime Video after the game, as cited by MilanNews, Stefano Pioli praised the goalkeeper for the performance last night.

“He is an excellent goalkeeper with great quality and he must continue like this. He is doing well,” he stated.

Milan will take on Juventus on Sunday evening and hopefully, Maignan won’t be called into action as often. Milan will need the three points to bounce back from last night and also continue their winning streak in the league.
