Stefano Pioli did not give too much away when asked about Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s potential return, but he did confirm that there have been some talks.
Rumours have been swirling regarding Ibrahimovic’s potential third spell at Milan for weeks now, with the Swede meeting owner Gerry Cardinale more than once to discuss how a possible role in the management might work.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference on the eve of Milan-Fiorentina tomorrow night at San Siro, Pioli was asked about whether Ibra will be coming back, with his comments relayed by MilanNews.
“No, I know he was in Las Vegas and I know he is talking to the club and the owners. If Cardinale saw something exceptional in him he wasn’t wrong. Ibra, if he were to return, will be an important resource,” he said.
The negotiations between the former striker and RedBird Capital are believed to be at an advanced stage and his return could well be made official in the coming days, especially given that Cardinale is expected in Italy for the Champions League game against Dortmund next Wednesday.
Seems like Pioli is not involved in this decision at all, which is not a good sign for his job security.
How does he now know more info? Isn’t he the “centre of the project”? Wow haha. Ridiculous these ppl in management who they tried to sway the narrative in the summer. Only naive fans will eat up what they’ve been feeding us. Don’t they have team working ” in harmony” now? Why do they need Ibra? To strengthen the harmony?
