Pioli ready to utilise another offensive weapon as Rebic recovers but he is not yet at 100%

AC Milan are unlikely to risk starting Ante Rebic in tonight’s game against Hellas Verona but the winger will soon go back to playing a crucial role.

According to Sunday’s edition of Tuttosport (via MilanNews), Rebic is not yet at 100% condition and therefore will start from the bench against Verona. The goal of the Rossoneri medical staff is to have him in top form when the season resumes after the international break, so in around two weeks.

Meanwhile, MilanNews have noted how the absence of the Croatian was not felt at all as the Rossoneri have continued to score goals without the presence of last season’s top scorer.

It must be said though that Rebic has been crucial in big games in recent months, scoring against Juventus (2), Inter, Roma and Lazio, and the hope is that he will return to those levels to become yet another dangerous weapon for Pioli to have at his disposal.

So far Ibrahimovic has been exceptional, but it would be dangerous to assume that he will continue this pace and score over 30 league goals, and for this reason Rebic’s presence – as well as the likes of Leao and Calhanoglu – will be crucial.
