Pioli responds to Mourinho’s pre-match comment: “He’s intelligent and shrewd”

Stefano Pioli and Jose Mourinho have had a back-and-forth ahead of the game between AC Milan and Roma tomorrow evening. This after the Giallorossi manager’s comments about the Rossoneri, stating that they are Scudetto contenders still.

Tomorrow’s game is an important one both for Milan and Roma. The Rossoneri lost against Atalanta in the Coppa Italia on Wednesday and thus got knocked out. The Giallorossi, meanwhile, lost the derby against Lazio mid-week and will also have to focus fully on the league now.

During his press conference earlier today, Mourinho was asked about Milan’s situation and whether they are in difficulty, to which he replied: “They are playing for the title, and they won the Scudetto two years ago. They are behind Inter and Juve despite losing several important players to injury. Now they have taken Gabbia and Terracciano, they know our difficulties.”

Pioli had his presser a few hours later and he was asked about Mourinho’s words, replying with the following: “Mourinho is a top manager. Intelligent, clever and shrewd. Before certain matches, he always exalts his opponents.”

Today’s game is bound to be an exciting one, with a sold-out San Siro and two sets of fans who are hungry for a win. Whoever comes out on top will certainly receive a confidence boost, and in Milan’s case it could be crucial indeed.
