Stefano Pioli will remain at AC Milan beyond this season. Yes, you read that right. The Rossoneri decided to take a step back in the negotiations with Ralf Rangnick as a result of the recent success.
Since the start of the year, the results have been really good for Milan and they are currently in fifth place, though Roma and Napoli have a game in hand. Nevertheless, the transformation has been really impressive and Pioli deserves a lot of credit.
After the game against Sassuolo, which the Rossoneri won by two goals to one, an official statement was released confirming the manager’s contract extension. In an interview with Sky Italia, as cited by MilanNews.it, Pioli shared his thoughts on the matter.
“I’m very happy, I have known about this negotiation for a few days, to continue next season in such a prestigious club, with a team that can grow a lot, is very important.
“I’m very happy but our future is now, we have to think about these three games, we can still give a lot. We will think about the future from August 3.
“The club proved to be correct with me, in individual talks they always told me that there was nothing definitive, that everything would be decided at the end of the season.
“Gazidis? I have always talked to him, he had a chat with me the week before the match against Genoa when rumours began to circulate, he assured me that a decision had not yet been made.
“I was hoping, I’m fine with the team, with the environment, with the fans. I was hoping to be able to continue the work, it’s only the beginning,” he stated.
Few expected this outcome but on the other hand, Pioli will now be able to build on the foundation that he has put together since his arrival back in October.
