Pioli reveals Milan players were ‘excited’ after hearing UCL draw outcome

AC Milan were drawn into Group F in the Champions League, also known as the group of the death, along with PSG, Borussia Dortmund and Newcastle. An outcome that the players were happy with, as revealed by Stefano Pioli.

It’s a tough group to predict as all four teams have a decent chance of making it through to the knockout stages. The schedule was announced this morning and Milan will start at home against Newcastle, hoping to get off the mark immediately.

Speaking at the post-match press conference (via SempreMilan.it), following the 2-1 win against Roma, Pioli revealed that his players were excited to hear about the Champions League draw outcome.

“We found out while on the plane, I immediately communicated it to the players and I liked their reaction: No anxiety or dread, instead I saw an excited team. We are Milan, we want to fight,” he stated.

The first game is scheduled for just over two weeks and Milan will face Inter in the derby a few days before. Intense days await the Rossoneri, in other words, and they will have to make use of their new-found depth.

  1. Newcastle is currently playing vs De Zerbi’s Brighton.
Brighton is such a fun team to watch. De Zerbi is a great coach. They have nowhere near the talent Newcastle has and they are out playing them without a problem.
Very poor play and clearance by Tonali that led to Brighton’s goal.

    1. Yes, if he is the goalkeeper. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. He gave the ball away and it fell out of his hands so they managed to score the goal. Tonali’s fault. He did have a bad clearance in the middle but lol.

      1. So you agreed that he had a bad clearance that led to the Brighton goal, but you came in here laughing like I said something that wasn’t true.
Tonali awful clearance led to a rocket of a shot that the GK did pair, but if Tonali has cleared the ball properly that shot never happens. He is at fault more for the goal than the GK. Poor clearance and then lazy attempt to block the shot.
Also, he just got subbed at the 55th minute.
        🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

        1. What? The goalkeeper gave the ball away to Brighton. The ball was in his feet and he gave it away. How did that not lead to that goal? 😀 And after Tonali bad clearance the goalkeeper dropped the ball from his hands to the attacker. So he made 2 mistakes and you are blaming Tonali. Man, pathetic people like you are the worst, I don’t understand what stupid point you’re trying to make, but it is sad.

        2. Tonali was the best Newcastle player, however Brighton just played better as a team. I was suppriced how unpredictable they were. For a team with no big names they really are something.

    2. Umm, but Tonali was their best player on the pitch, man. Would be an easy win for us if we face them haha. Did you just say Brighton has nowhere near the talent as Newcastle?

          1. So, just because they conceited 2 more goals after he was subbed off , that means that he was the best player on the pitch?
            Ha ha 😂.
First , Tonali and 2 other Newcastle players were yanked of the game in the 55th minute.
2nd, Brighton was dominating while Tonali was on the pitch as well

        1. Was that the case, lol? I was watching Bayern vs Mönchengladbach. I was told by my discord members about Tonali. Mb for believing that.

  2. Newcastle 3 points out of 12 so far.
People started hyping them up after the first game vs poor Aston Villa.
    Brighton is whooping them

    1. No, people started hyping them after being 4th in Premier League last season. The strongest national league competition on the planet. I think that is the reason, not 1 game 2 weeks ago…

    2. Actually, they were just fortunate to beat Villa. I watched their game against Burnley, and they look like a completely different team. Pretty sure, if they both face each other now, the result will be different. I said Milan and Dortmund will qualify with Newcastle finishing last, and now I think I can be correct lol,

  3. Anyone who knows football, will have a different attitude when it comes to playing even the weakest football teams. Newcastle would not be a pushover in the champions league. They will show up fighting to win. Football isn’t won by a sheet of paper. It’s played, won, or lost on the football pitch. Let us drop the cocky arrogant attitude and show all teams and their supporters their respect. Newcastle would be trickiest of all, especially if they are underestimated. There is the factor of time, gelling, etc. This is September 2nd, but who knows how Newcastle’s form would be for the game days? In football things can change in an instant. Always show respect.

    1. Exactly! The same way people are seeing Newcastle might be the same way they’re seeing us. The easiest on paper might be the hardest on the field. Remember our golden team with Kaka that won the UCL played crap in league but turned up when that UCL music came on
