Pioli reveals Milan players were ‘excited’ after hearing UCL draw outcome

AC Milan were drawn into Group F in the Champions League, also known as the group of the death, along with PSG, Borussia Dortmund and Newcastle. An outcome that the players were happy with, as revealed by Stefano Pioli.

It’s a tough group to predict as all four teams have a decent chance of making it through to the knockout stages. The schedule was announced this morning and Milan will start at home against Newcastle, hoping to get off the mark immediately.

Speaking at the post-match press conference (via SempreMilan.it), following the 2-1 win against Roma, Pioli revealed that his players were excited to hear about the Champions League draw outcome.

“We found out while on the plane, I immediately communicated it to the players and I liked their reaction: No anxiety or dread, instead I saw an excited team. We are Milan, we want to fight,” he stated.

The first game is scheduled for just over two weeks and Milan will face Inter in the derby a few days before. Intense days await the Rossoneri, in other words, and they will have to make use of their new-found depth.
