Pioli says Donnarumma is ‘very attached to Milan’ and deems departure unlikely

By Isak Möller -

In recent months, there have been many rumours about the future of Gigio Donnarumma, whose contract with AC Milan will expire in 2021. Of course, the Rossoneri are keen on keeping their star for many years to come.

During today’s press conference at Milanello (via MilanNews.it), ahead of the clash against Roma tomorrow evening, Stefano Pioli shared his thoughts on several topics. In fact, he was asked to share some advice to Donnarumma, with regards to the future.

“He’s calm, determined and very attached to Milan, I think he will make the best decision for himself, I don’t see him far from Milan. I haven’t talked to him about the future, we are focused on the season,” he concluded.

In other words, there is optimism that the goalkeeper will renew his contract in the end. As we reported on Tuesday, via our correspondent Vito Angele, the renewal is just a formality as Milan have clear plans for Donnarumma in the new project.

At the age of just 21, Donnarumma has already made 192 appearances for the first team, which is quite extraordinary. Ralf Rangnick sees him as a cornerstone for the new project and will surely want to keep him.
