Pioli says Man Utd loanee ‘will become complete’ and explains why managers like him

Milan signed Diogo Dalot from Man Utd on a dry loan ahead of the season and the Portuguese full-back has been used quite a lot. However, his future at the club remains uncertain after some ups and downs.

Since the Rossoneri don’t have a back-up for the left-back position, Dalot has mostly played there this season and his performances have been mixed. Therefore, it’s very hard to assess the quality of the young full-back.

Stefano Pioli, the Milan manager, was asked about this during his press conference earlier today as rumours have emerged regarding Dalot’s future. He made it clear that it’s a player that any manager would like to have in the squad.

“He has characteristics similar to Theo, he has also grown in the defensive phase, he will become a complete player. Us managers really like to have flexible players, then at a certain moment it would be useful to give him a definitive position to make him more aware of the situations on the pitch,” he said, as cited by MilanNews.

It remains to be seen if the Rossoneri will sit down with Man Utd at the end of the season to negotiate a permanent deal. Dalot himself seems happy at Milan and this could perhaps facilitate a potential transfer.
