AC Milan boss Stefano Pioli has sent a message to the club’s recruitment team regarding the upcoming transfer window.
The Rossoneri ended the season in the best way possible on Saturday night, beating Cagliari 3-0 to extend the unbeaten league run to 12 games.
Ragnar Klavan’s own goal began the scoring after some fantastic individual work from Leao, and Zlatan Ibrahimovic doubled the advantage with a thunderbolt into the top corner. Moments later Samu Castillejo fired past Alessio Cragno to complete the rout.
Now, attention has turned to what Milan might do in the transfer window in order to strengthen the squad, and the defensive midfield department is an area that the club are expected to try and strengthen.
After the win over Cagliari, Pioli spoke to the media in a press conference and was asked in particular about the midfield department.
“It is clear that evaluations have been made and will be made,” he said (via MilanNews).
“The midfield cannot be made up of only two starters, but four starters. 22 owners will be needed, it will be necessary to raise the level of the whole team.”
