Pioli shares thoughts on Mandzukic ahead of full debut: “He’s a great professional”

By Isak Möller -

As the derby is scheduled for Sunday, Stefano Pioli is expected to make some rotations to the starting XI for the game against Red Star Belgrade tomorrow. One of the players that will get the chance is Mario Mandzukic.

Milan’s new No.9 arrived on a free transfer in January and has since been working to regain his form, having been without football for so long. He has made a few appearances in the league, but only off the bench thus far.

Therefore, he’s preparing to make his full debut for the club tomorrow as he will replace Zlatan Ibrahimovic up front. At least, that is what the latest reports suggest. It will be very interesting to see him in action for a good amount of time.

In his pre-match conference, as cited by MilanNews, Pioli was asked about Mandzukic and his condition ahead of tomorrow’s game. He assured us, that’s for sure, and pretty much confirmed that the Croatian will indeed start.

“He’s a great professional, he’s got in well. He’s working hard, he’s very available. He’s ready to play tomorrow too,” he stated.
