Pioli suggests Paqueta can’t be happy with AC Milan situation amid transfer rumours

On the eve of Milan-Udinese, Stefano Pioli spoke to the media at the usual press conference earlier this afternoon (via MilanNews.it). In addition to talking about the team’s situation, he also addressed a few individual ones.

In recent weeks, Lucas Paqueta has been linked with a January move due to the lack of playing time. In fact, just this morning, Gazzetta Dello Sport (via MilanNews.it) reported that Milan are looking for a buyer as a price tag has been set at €38m.

When asked about the matter, Pioli acknowledged that the Brazilian midfielder can’t be happy with his situation, hinting that the current formation (4-4-2) doesn’t suit the former Flamengo man.

“Paqueta is well, he’s training well. He can’t be completely satisfied as one of the non-starters. He’s not a pure winger, if I play Paqueta I can’t ask for the same depth that Castillejo brings.

“The important thing is to have a balanced team. Paqueta is definitely a very good player,” he concluded.

Only time will tell if a satisfactory offer will be made to Milan for Paqueta, who joined the club just one year ago. Certainly, if he does end up staying, the situation will have to change with regards to his playing time.
