Pioli admits he is considering tactical changes as he evaluates two new signings

AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli has admitted that he is thinking about some tactical tweaks having added some key pieces in the transfer market.

Pioli spoke to the reporters who gathered at Milanello for his pre-match press conference about a number of topics including the game itself against Inter, the change in ownership and the various bits of transfer speculation.

As part of it, he was asked if he is considering any new tactical alterations given the squad is now locked in place and he has multiple players at his disposal for each role.

“I waited for the transfer market to end. I still think that we shouldn’t play official matches with the transfer market still in progress. The arrival of some players is leading me to think about some new possible tactical ideas.”

One of the new additions was Aster Vranckx who arrived on a loan with option to buy deal from Wolfsburg and will add some physicality and athleticism to the midfield department.

“He combines quality and quantity, he is a complete midfielder. He is an interesting guy. The club continues to focus on young talents and he falls into this category,” Pioli said.

The other deadline day acquisition was Sergino Dest who arrived from Barcelona via the same formula as Vranckx. Pioli believes that the USA international will not just be useful for the role of right-back.

“We are all sorry for Florenzi. They are trying to understand the recovery times. Dest has quality and speed. We took him to play as a full-back, but he can also be useful in other areas of the pitch.”
