GdS: Pioli could drop Thiaw for second leg against Spurs – the latest

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan boss Stefano Pioli has some selection dilemmas to resolve ahead of Wednesday night’s Champions League last 16 second leg against Spurs.

According to what is being reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) this morning, Pioli will use the next couple of training sessions to make decision on the starting line-up that will be tasked with defending and possibly extending the 1-0 first leg lead.

One change could be in the three-man defence which seemed to be untouchable after the recent excellent results before the defeat against Fiorentina on Saturday night.

The paper states that Simon Kjaer could get his spot back in the centre of the trio in place of Malick Thiaw. The Dane was one of the best players on the pitch in the first leg, effectively nullifying the influence of Harry Kane, so Pioli could lean on his big game experience and start him in the English capital.

  1. Thiaw has to start, whether in the centre or on the side. He is a good man marker, so he is necessary. Tomori can be dropped.

  2. People are writing that Tomori has issues and Thiaw made more mistakes vs Fiorentina…LOL. What, you can’t admit that as you were writing about him like he is Maldini 2 weeks ago? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

    1. They were also talking about Tomori as the next Maldini a year ago and look at all the comments now. The mob is fickle my friend.

  3. Against Kulisevski you need a quick CB, not the strong one. This is why Tomori is being picked.
But he has to bring coolness into his game as this year he had too much rush decisions.

  4. He should go with the same 3 that shut them down last time. I believe it was Kjaer, Thiaw and Kalulu. Tomori has been bad this year anyways.

  5. How about all of our best four CBs play?

    . Maignan
    . Thiaw-Kjaer-Tomori
    .Kalulu – Theo
    . Bennacer-Tonali
    . Diaz
    . Ibra-Leao

    Hmmm…..
