AC Milan boss Stefano Pioli is expected to return to his first choice attacking line-up for tomorrow’s game against Napoli, a report claims.
As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport this morning, Brahim Diaz, Olivier Giroud and Rafael Leao will be the trio relied upon in attack for the game against Napoli after Divock Origi and Ante Rebic disappointed against Empoli.
Pioli has had in his mind for a week the attack he wants to field in the first leg of the quarter-final: Brahim Diaz wide on the right side with Ismael Bennacer at the advanced apex of the triangle of midfielders, plus Leao on the left and Giroud up front.
Leao has contributed to 19 goals this season so far when counting goals and assists, while Giroud is on 18 and Diaz on 10. They are opposites that attract given Giroud is a penalty area striker, Leao is explosive and Brahim offers balance but also creative threat.
Against Salzburg in the last round of the group stages Giroud’s goal made it 1-0. Against Tottenham in the round of 16, Brahim’s goal won the tie. Leao against Napoli 10 days ago scored twice and was virtually unstoppable. The trio will be trusted again tomorrow.
