Pioli provides update on Ibrahimovic ahead of Cagliari clash – how much he could play

By Isak Möller -

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been subbed on in the last two games and as his condition is slowly improving, he could get more minutes. This was hinted at by Stefano Pioli during today’s press conference.

Milan will take on Cagliari tomorrow in what will be a very important game for them. They are currently three and four points ahead of Napoli and Inter respectively, with the Scudetto in their own hands as nine games remain.

Olivier Giroud has been the starting striker lately and he has done well in the absence of Ibrahimovic, who recently recovered from his injury. He got a few minutes against Napoli and a bit more against Empoli, but it could increase tomorrow.

During his press conference, which you can read in full here, Pioli provided an update on Ibrahimovic and confirmed that he’s better than a week ago. That suggests the Swede will indeed get some more minutes ahead of the international break, perhaps even 30 or so depending on Giroud’s performance.

“He is better than a week ago. His minutes have increased, then we will see what choices to make for tomorrow,” he stated.
