AC Milan and Juventus held themselves to a 0-0 draw at San Siro, although a moment from Alexis Saelemaekers nearly resulted in a winner. Below are the player ratings for the Rossoneri.
Milan headed into the game with a little more confidence, having beaten Verona last time out, and they definitely looked more solid on the pitch. However, as many had predicted, it ended up being a tight affair and in the end, no one broke the deadlock.

For the Rossoneri, it was good to maintain the three-point gap and a few players also showed themselves on their good sides this evening. Saelemaekers was one of them, as alluded to, and Fikayo Tomori was another.
If you haven’t already, make sure to check out how we decide the player ratings. From the scale to what affects the rating, we have compiled everything there.
Short version
🥇 Saelemaekers (7 – MOTM): For me, he’s the clear MOTM today with great work in both phases of the game. We often saw him winning the ball back, either through smart movement or tackles, and he was super lively in attack. Really unlucky not to get a goal with what was a nice strike, hitting the bar.
👎 Bartesaghi (5): He was carded for a clear foul and definitely got done a few times by Conceicao, who easily could have scored with a little more precision. The decision to take him off at half-time was right, not just because of the yellow card either.
👔 Allegri (6): We can have questions about the subs, above all Fullkrug instead of Gimenez, but overall I think he got the tactics pretty spot on. We scored zero goals, I know, but the fact is that we came closer than Juve at finding the winner. And besides, a draw was much better for us than the Bianconeri.
Starting XI
Maignan (6.5): The goalkeeper has several good stops tonight, and that was largely thanks to good positioning. He stood his ground, didn’t get too eager, and that especially helped on Conceicao’s efforts. Also a good save on Vlahovic at the end, even if it was eventually waved offside.
Tomori (6.5): Great display in the 1v1s against Boga, who is widely considered to be one of the best dribblers in the league. The Englishman used his pace and strength, recovering a few times even after being beaten in the initial duel.

Gabbia (6): Solid, although it must be said that David didn’t pose much of a threat in the centre of the box. It remains clear how much the academy product brings to the defence in terms of calmness.
Pavlovic (6): Just like Gabbia, he was solid most of the game defensively-speaking and also helped out a bit in attack. There were a few dodgy moments towards the end which could have caused more issues, but overall good.
Saelemaekers (7 – MOTM): For me, he’s the clear MOTM today with great work in both phases of the game. We often saw him winning the ball back, either through smart movement or tackles, and he was super lively in attack. Really unlucky not to get a goal with what was a nice strike, hitting the bar.
Fofana (5.5): He wasted a pretty decent chance in the first half after a nice first touch, so it was a very typical, and I also think he struggled to be synced with his teammates in the press. Not horrible by any means, just not up to par.
Modric (6.5): He was never bothered by Juve’s press, finding a way out of every situation, and we also saw him make several runs on the counter tonight. Let’s just hope the knock to the head is nothing serious.
Rabiot (6): There were some really good moments in the first half, including a powerful shot that forced Di Gregorio to a save, but the feeling is that he lost some momentum in the second half. Either Juve got better at closing him down, or he lost the energy. Still, a decent display.
Bartesaghi (5): He was carded for a clear foul and definitely got done a few times by Conceicao, who easily could have scored with a little more precision. The decision to take him off at half-time was right, not just because of the yellow card either.

Pulisic (5.5): Apart from the nice pass in the build-up to Saelemaekers hitting the woodwork, it was another disappointing one for the American. Even when Milan sometimes played well to reach the final third, he struggled with his back against the goal and reading the play.
Leao (6): Maybe slightly too generous, maybe. However, my take is that he looked more lively than usual tonight and that helped him set up the chance for Saelemaekers, among other things. Maybe the tendency to slow down some counters should have resulted in a 5.5, though.
Substitutes
Estupinan (6): Yes, he was carded for a blatant foul on Conceicao, but there’s also no doubt that he was a lot more successful against the Juventus winger than Bartesaghi. In other words, job done, along with some decent interceptions.
Fullkrug (5.5): Really didn’t add that much to the game. If it was a physical presence that Allegri wanted in the box, he barely got it.
Ricci (6): He immediately made some nice runs and if it hadn’t been for some poor passes from teammates, there could have been more in terms of end-product.
Nkunku (N/A): I didn’t see enough to give him a rating.
The manager
Allegri (6): We can have questions about the subs, above all Fullkrug instead of Gimenez, but overall I think he got the tactics pretty spot on. We scored zero goals, I know, but the fact is that we came closer than Juve at finding the winner. And besides, a draw was much better for us than the Bianconeri.

you left Jashari off the ratings. was also a late sub for Modric
Knew someone was missing! Thanks 🙂
Haha.
Unfortunately after so.many 35 million + flops, Jashari is one more…
How is he a flop, 80% of the games he played was way better the Ricci, and that from a broken leg injury. Sorry but likes of you considered Salatmaker a flop as well, is he?
Ricci still has 1 goal and 3 assists to his name, playing mostly from the bench. Statistically he’s there with Modrić who has 2 goal and 3 assists with a starting spot and 5 games more under his belt. To say Jashari is better than Ricci from what each has shown is a biased bullsh*t. Let me guess, you’re Albanian right?
Flop is someone who gets to plays but underperfomes, not a player who broke his leg, missed half of the season and then he doesn’t get any playing time because the coach insists on playing 40 year old every minute of every game. Ricci can be considered a flop, since he has been healthy all season long and yet can’t even start over Fofana. At least Jashari is sitting behind one of the best players ever.
He recovered from the broken leg months ago. Saelemakers wasn’t expensive nor arrived with a big rep so the comparison isn’t valid. Jashiri hasn’t stamped his authority on games, that’s why he’s on the bench. He is a flop.
A flop is nearly every transfer in nearly every league.
Few transfers perform at the same or higher level than at the club that made them desirable.
That’s because the conditions that made them desirable are difficult to replicate – coach, team mates, tactics, training etc.
You are not a flop either if someone more experienced and more expensive is playing more than you. If anything its the experienced national player fofana who is flopping. I think both Ricci and Jashari have potential if given enough time both can be good for us.
Thank upi Coco, it’s funny how Ted once he runs out of arguments he starts labelling with you are Albanian right? Give Jashari 50% of the time Ricci got and you will see, even if he replicates 50% of performance in Belgium he will be valuable player for us in the future. Likes of Ted will say but this is Italy not comparable with Belgium, as a reminder of those who thinks like that is that Bosnia went to world cup not Italy, and Belgium finished top.
A flop after enduring a Tig of war signing and also breaking a leg. How quick to label him a flop.
Youre an imbecile. Stop commenting
Lets sell him for 15 mil to a Serie A rival then cry when he is adapted to serie A and play well just like CDK, Kalulu, Locatelli etc. Jashari played in the Swiss League 2 seasons ago. Tare brought him to Adapt and learn from Modric. Consider player a flop after 3 seasons and they don’t contribute not after 8 months.
Better display from Tomori, a fairly decent game, not so much to be desired or complain about.
That’s good of you.
There is no way Fofana was as bad as Bartesaghi mate!?!?…no way. how on earth do they get the same rating? Fofana was as boring as anyone else. Your personal feelings about him are on display again.
Typo! I thought I had given Barte a 5, so thanks for pointing out
Womp womp cry 😭 harder. No one cares about the rates.
Then why are you here clown?
You cry over half a point for a guy who was invisible the entire match. All your moaning did is get one of own players a reduction 😂😂😂 imagine you are crying about who was worse 😂😂😂 Bartesaghi went up against the exact type of player that can trouble him and he did but Bartesaghi is still growing and young. Your BF is in his prime and easily replaceable and will be this summer. Enjoy you muppet.
No one is crying dumbo…You sound as idiotic as usual. Facts bother fools. You keep proving that your IQ and shoe size are about the same.
Why are you sobbing about a player who was just as useless as he normally is???
That’s not sobbing Ian It’s laughter!! Allegri doesn’t’, think he’s useless, does he? You’ve been wrong all season, now you can add one more.
Not sure why Leao always has to get the hate. Pulisic was terrible and didn’t do anything the whole game. Leao tried and was always alone against 3 Juve players. Once Nkunku came on our team was just defending.
with Allegri ball any striker will look like shit, even a prime R9. I hope we make it to champions league and kick out Allegri even before Furlani. Watching this team play is just painfull. Otherwise I’m sure the fans will be crying to have him out mid next season
It was the exact same for Pulisic. Had a nice run along the right side, but ultimately lost it to three defenders. This is Allegri’s system. Both Leao and Pulisic are better suited with a central striker. we’re just playing the only system that allows us a chance to win. I almost feel bad for both players because they both obviously have talent that’s just not being utilized in this current set up
For some reason there are camps among the Milanisti. Not sure why they feel the need to pit Leao vs Puli. Their contributions in previous seasons have been practically identical. This season they are both struggling.
Milan needs a strong Leao and a strong Pulisic on top of their games to get this attack going in a formation that doesn’t hinder us offensively.
100%👍
How are you watching the same game. Puli did nothing offensively but he leao did nothing on both ends. Bad passes , bad decision making all around and just a poor visitor the game period.
This game Pulisic was one of the worst on the pitch. Leao had an OK game. He made some good runs and was trying to make things happen. The problems, as you said, is “Allegriball”. Leao can make a run, but if there is only one Milan player waiting for end product in the box there is not going to be much end product. Meanwhile, Pulisic is down in the dumps. Something is not right from a mental standpoint and I think it also has to do with the tactics. Hard times on the pitch will affect a player. If we used a formation with wingers, they’d both be happier and more effective, but we’ve seen that this squad can’t cope with a tactic that uses a back four. It’s going to be an interesting summer.
Both Leao and Pulisic are fantastic players. Being played out of position is not helping them at all. But at least they are still working hard. I’m not sure why Gimenez didn’t get a run out. Allegri must be done with him.
Happy to take the point, however another blunt performance from our attackers. Some frustrating moments from Fofana and a bit concerning from Barte. Not so convinced about the Tomori rating…it almost feels like his confidence took a hit in recent times. Hope we are not limping towards the finish but rather that Allegri is taking calculated risks…
A sh!tty a$$ game where we pretty much did nothing to win. Juventus was the better side for most of the game, but honestly not so much to write home about either.
I feel like our players mentally gave up already and didn’t really try too hard attacking wise.
Maignan should be rated higher. In some occasions he was the difference between 1 point and 0 points.
The center defenders did alright overall with a special mention to Tomori who had to deal with Boga which didn’t look easy.
Bartesaghi was a disaster and was made to look like a highway by Conceição. Estupiñán also suffered from the winger but was clearly better tonight.
Saelemakers SHOULD have been able to score that big chance and perhaps allow us to win.
Fofana was Fofana again, rightly subbed by a not stellar Ricci.
Modrić & Rabiot were good but weren’t impressive either.
Pulišić: N/A which considering that he played for more than an hour, is pretty sad. Same can be said for Füllkrug.
Leão was bad during the first half, but looked livelier and more dynamic in the second half, but still without actually being anywhere near good.
That sounds about right, without splitting atoms.
I will say though that Conceicao usually jukes any defender he goes up against unless he’s double marked. Bart had a baptism by fire today. Max didn’t have Rabiot interfere too much in helping Bart as he seemed to be an outlet on counters to help move the ball forward. But both Bart and Stupendous struggled with him with a yellow apiece.
Dreadful watch but we all expected it. We shouldn’t even bother to rate the attackers since they have been put into a horrible situation. Hang onto top 4 looks like the goal, 6 points away.
Yea I agree. It had a draw vibe written all over it. And frankly the result suits both teams at this stage.
Ratings are OK for me, maybe a 5.5 for Leao and a 6 for Fofana but I think this is the most accurate scores in ages here
Having said that, I called the Serie A and asked for those 2 hours stolen from my life. What a snooze fest
Boring game.
Seemed like neither team wanted to win and they were fine with a draw getting of the bus.
We have to watch 4 more boring games and then we get well deserved 3 months off before we gotta do the same thing all over again next season.
😆 🤣 😂 😹 😆
Absolutely! Boring as hell; unfortunately, everything AC Milan does nowadays is simply just boring. A pat on the back boys for not losing, wow 🙄 no hunger, no urgency, no desire to win from at least the majority of the players.
Indeed. Not losing is everything these days. Who needs trophies anyway, right? It’s not like winning ever feels good, eh…
Well said. Absolutely spot on. At least we can watch good and entertaining football while waiting for the agony to return in August. 🤷♂️
I bet the WC matches look like a whole different ball game after watching ~50 Allegri-ball matches before.
Did what we needed and that’s an important point. Defensively, everyone put a shift in, although Bartesaghi’s weaknesses were exposed again.
In attack now, it’s about getting through the rest of the season and retooling in summer, I’m disappointed that again we’re not giving Gimenez a chance to do anything – we seem to be more desperate to force him out that to try scoring goals for some reason. There’s a lot of criticism for the 3-5-2 sometimes, but the extra centre-back is adding more to the attacks than either of the 2 forwards it feels like to me…
I think giving Alexis credit for a good strike is unjust, for me he has to hit the target from that position. Good shift overall though, Juve’s left was very quiet.
We will never get anywhere or achieve anything as long as that dinosaur called Allegri is our coach – simple as that.
His gameplan is to avoid loosing balance and to prevent the opponent to score, simple as that. No offensive plan at all.
That is why we have now drawn 10 games in the league, that is why we are creating less than 1 xG pr. game. That is why our topscorer has scorer 9 goals.
We can spend the summer vindue upgrading our “ship” with a bigger sail, with more canons, a better rudder, but none of it will matter – it’s the captain that is wrong.
Spot on
Man is very careful losing a game than winning.
Tell me you don’t understand the limitations of this squad without telling me you don’t understand the limitations of this squad… SMH.
You do know there’s a big improvement over last season, right? The football won’t be good, but the team will be competitive. Eventually, Allegri will be replaced. He’s laying the foundations. Whoever is next has to take the club further.
Ummmm, his goal was to return us to the champions league. Mission (almost) accomplished. Yes, it’s as exciting as watching pasta dry, but would you rather play 4 in the back and be in 7th place?
Hear hear!!!
If you can’t win, don’t lose. That’s the Allegri philosophy. If anyone wants to see exciting football, look the other way. Allegri is Allegri.
I know if estipinan played like bartesaghi you would have given him a 4, the favoritism is embarrassing.
The hatred of Bartesaghi is embarrassing.
He didn’t have a good game but it was hardly a major cause for concern.
I’m sure the full back in your imagination has never let a cross in – ever.
He had a bad game, thats all. what else do you want people to say? no one hates anyone.
You are full of hate. You call me names all the time. Self reflection is need ASAP.
Oh Krunic, no one hates you.
You can be a real as*hole sometimes, pal. LOL!!! And I say that lovingly.
and you are no saint about names calling are you?
He did l. He couldn’t beat a tired Chico and got yellow carded too.
I actually thought that was quite an enjoyable game of football to be honest 😁. Spalletti has that team playing really well and on both teams’ current form this feels like a good point, even though it shouldn’t.
WHEN we move the ball progressively we look dangerous, we just don’t do it nearly enough! But let’s be honest, whilst they looked more likely to create something, they actually didn’t threaten much – testament to our back three.
Saelemaekers reeeeaaaally should have won us the game – far too generous in the review, his effort looked more like a last ditch defensive clearance than a “nice strike”. Tireless as always but his passing is far too basic for him to ever be a ‘top’ player.
Credit to Estupinan who came into a difficult role having not played much and did a great job. We have to remember Bartesaghi’s age and I’m glad he’s starting, but his job this summer is surely working on his awareness.
Ricci came on and was an upgrade on Fofana which was nice to see – more of that please.
Fullkrug’s most memorable contribution was two disastrous defensive passes which was not nice to see 🤦♂️. I’d rather see a hungry youngster trying and failing than a 33 year old loanee.
But the biggest shout out of the night has to go to Nkunku, who spent his 16 minute cameo looking more like he was warming up on the sideline. I don’t think he got within 5 metres of the ball at any point. That takes some skill 👏🤣.
2 wins from 4 should be more than manageable now.
There’s a lot of work to do in the summer…
It was a good game and I feel Leao was back to being someone closely what he was capable of.
Bartesaghi doesn’t lack awareness. In fact his reading of the game is suburb.
But defenders will get beaten, and even caught out by (exquisite) passes on their inside.
If that never happened – ever- there’d be no goals in football.
Milan have the best defence in the league, Bartesaghi has played most of those games and contributed to those clean sheets and few goals conceded.
He didn’t have a great game but it was hardly a huge cause of concern. The main issue was in fact his lack of contribution to the attack.
It happens to Bartesaghi in every game several times. He has been responsible for more goals conceded than any other defender this season.
Bart is young and has to be allowed to make mistakes to learn. Unfortunately he’s repeating some of those mistakes.
But he hasn’t because Milan have conceded the fewest goals….
(And if you actually watch the games he’s been responsible for one goal where he didn’t close down fast enough a few weeks back)
Bart is great but the one thing he lacks is awareness. There, I criticised one aspect of a wonderful players game – probably time for me to find another hobby.
Isn’t it a good job we’re all of us different?
This is all of course subjective but he doesn’t lack awareness.
a) because he’s playing for AC Milan who have the best defence in the league (so what kind of awareness do the rest of the LBs in the league have?);
b) because the vast majority of the time his positioning is superb (or suburb if written on an iPhone).
I do question people’s preferred hobby when they’re continually looking for faults, and seem incapable of finding joy.
It is subjective, you’re right. I think he lacks a bit of awareness in key moments, but as I’ve just explained to you on your ridiculous “Sharks” comment, he’s by and large been an absolute joy this season. Some of us, you see, are capable of nuanced critique. The limited criticism, you see…IS THE COMPLIMENT. If you don’t know what I mean by that, I can’t help you.
With regard to your “if you actually watched the game” nonsense, I think it’s clear I do. Even if you don’t rate my understanding of football I think it’s clear I at least have eyes on it. In the case of both Milan and my local 7th tier team, those eyes are quite often at the game. I post on here because I find the Smorgasbord entertaining – including you. You seem to post on here – these days at least – to rage bait. Well I’m sorry to disappoint but you will always find me to be balanced and articulate.
The word you’re looking for is “superb” not suburb. And no, his reading of the game is far from it. He is only 20 and has a lot to learn still. You’re never objective when it comes to the Italian core.
Saelemaekers had a solid match, but I agree he could have done better with that one.
Not so boring as some people has pointed out
Malignant-6.5 nice couple of real save
Tomori-6.5 nice shift put in
Pavlovic-6 here and there
Gabbia-6 very slow always making a back pass add nothing going forward, lost his man for the offside goal.
Barthesaghi- calamity BART not Milan worthy defender bantered, beaten, sloppy
Saelameker-6 what makes him motm I don’t understand he should have scored not hit the post
Modric-6.5
Rabiot-6.5
Fofana-5.5
Pulisic-5 add nothing offensively, was completely lost, though involved in the build up to Salad miss
Leao- 6.5 more lively should have had an assist for salad miss
Estupinan- 6 better display just an inch better than Bart both not Milan worthy defender
Fulkrug- 5 did nothing
Jashari- 5 Belgium finest, not good enough just ok
Nkunku-5
Ricci-5.5
Leao 6.5 lol. Can’t help yourself. Dude lost the ball all the time.
He’s not even worth a rely. He falls into category of fan that has to bash one player to prop up another. Neither player got service it’s not even worth a discussion. The offen(c)se is cooked by Allegri to support a bad defen(c)se. Had to but those “c” in there so Maldini Heir won’t crash out.
Stand corrected he already did look ⬇️ 😂😂😂
No one bash one to prop up the other, the difference is clear, the moment your favorite player plays badly then you lot come for Alegri
All you do is come here to bash Pulisic and glaze Leão. It’s almost as bad as the Fofana lover. You both are one track minded and your comments are brain rot at this point.
Haha true
F off “not Milan worthy”. You’re not Milan worthy.
I understand how passionate you are about Italian players, but truth be told, how many matches has Bart cost us this season? He is not good enough for Milan, it’s as simple
Stop. You call for the development of Italian players yet you criticize them for playing and making mistakes they need to make to get better? He’s TWENTY!
Development ain’t making same mistake over and over again, he need to learn the hard way to understand, stop pampering him, that’s why Italy couldn’t make it to the world cup, too much sentiment on the Italian players. The truth is bitter!!
He hasn’t. Stop pretending he’s like Thiaw or Leao. He’s made a handful of costly mistakes, while being a part of the best defence in the league so he’s obviously not a problem.
Please stop pointing out facts…Do you realize where you are posting?
You can’t lose your man if he’s offside – his run was illegal. It wasn’t even tight, Thuram went about 3 weeks to soon.
Boring game but important point. Gotta be tough on Puli and Leao, this style of play is horrible for the attackers. Plus they don’t play that well together.
Please, bench Pulisic so we have him ready for the WC. And then he can seek another team which was always going to happen with Allegri ball. Look at the heat map that they showed at halftime in the states as to why he is ineffective.
Not surprising that they played tight and didn’t risk much in the scenario. Shame Saelemaekers chance didn’t come off. That would have been perfect for Allegri’s plan.
Fullkrug again seemed to offer nothing. Is it telling that he is getting minutes over Gimenez? What does it say about Gimenez form/condition?
Our forwards have no confidence at the moment.
I thought at the time that it was time for Theo to move on at the end of last season. However watching this formation and the lack of spark in our forwards. He would have been perfect to take this 352 to the next level. It’s probably a bit part of why Rafa is struggling for ideas. Not having Hernandez beside him in attack.
People keep saying the forwards don’t have any confidence. No, they are in a system that doesn’t create opportunities. Look at the heat map for where they pick up the ball. 25-30 yards from goal with no options.
Suddenly you guys has woken up from your slumber, rather than criticize your out of form player, you come for Allegri tactics and link up play
Your “player” is out of form too lol.
Yeah, because Allegri tactics and linkup play do not put players in a position to score.
Agree they are in a system that doesn’t suit most of our forward players. 352 doesn’t have to mean defensive. E.g. Inter. The attacking output will come from wing backs and midfielders feeding two strikers suitable to the formation.
We have one WB suited to this formation more that he is suited to FB or Winger (Saelemaekers) and nobody else at Striker or WB is more suited to 352 than a different formation. Even Fullkrug as a Striker works better as a CF with wingers than as part of a front 2. If he was playing well, perhaps Gimenez is more suited to a front 2 than CF in a front 3.
We could switch to 343 but that takes a player out of midfield which is our strength at the moment.
433 could work but the CBs (mostly Pavlovic) would need to stop getting forward so much. I actually think 433 could work if we played Pavlovic as a LB. Otherwise there is no space for him in a back 2.
Player Ratings:
Maignan: 7. Kept the clean sheet, great save on Conceicao., and his ball distribution was good.
Pavlovic: 6. Not the best in defense, but attacked well.
Gabbia: 6.5. Decent, but only played it back and was too slow on Thuram’s offside goal. David was very quiet, so he did well
Tomori: 7. Shut down the right side and had some good attacking output.
Saelemakers: 6.5. He was great all game but really should’ve scored in the 50th minute.
Fofana: 6. He was fairly quiet except for during counter attacks during most of the game, but he still played decently when he was on the ball.
Modric: 5.5. He didn’t hit many long balls and never progressed the ball forward.
Rabiot: 6.5. He won his 50-50s, and he was all over the pitch.
Bartesaghi: 5. He couldn’t handle Conceicao’s pace, and had almost no attacking output. Good decision by Allegri to sub him off.
Pulisic: 5. He had only 22 touches in the 62 minutes he played, he seemed absent.
Leao: 6. He created a couple of chances, but lost the ball too many times.
Subs:
Estupinan: 6.5. He would be a 7 if not for the stupid yellow, and his defending was very good.
Fullkrug: 5. He ghosted, didn’t even get any shots.
Ricci: 6.5. He was defensively solid and involved with the play for a change.
Jashari: 5.5. He didn’t do anything, but Juventus didn’t try to create anything through the middle in the last 10 minutes and his passes were accurate.
Nkunku: 4. He only got 5 touches on the ball, completely ghosted.
Allegri: 6. We didn’t lose, and we’ve kept Juventus in 4th.
Very good post and ratings
Is that your alt account? Looks like something you’d write.
What? It’s my regular account. Yes, I’m verbose; it doesn’t mean that every message I post needs to be verbose.
Personally I think i you do a -1 for everyone it fits. 5.5 is the highest rating I’d give in a game where nobody really tried to win and everyone was at best average, nobody stood out to me. I’d say players like Maginan desevers a 5.5 for not making any mistakes
I hate seeing our centerbacks in the attacking box during the run of play. It forces better attacking players to cover for them in the back, makes us more susceptible to counter attacks, and crowds the box with added defenders.
A few thoughts
1. One step closer to champions league…despite the fact that this game was ugly, we are on track which is a good thing.
2. Before the game I said that Allegri would pull his wing backs and midfield back and play for a 0-0 draw, and then everyone would crap on the attackers. Well here we are
3. This is not to be a Pulisic apologist as I agree he played poorly, but there was a play in the first half where he dribbled from the defensive box all the way to the offensive box cut inside and beat two defenders, and NO ONE RAN WITH HIM. This is our offense now.
4. What happened to Chiesa is now happening to Pulisic. This offense is where attackers go to die.
5. I do not know why people don’t see what I see but I thought Modric played a terrible game today….other than dribbling out of pressure. He was beaten badly several times defensively and he played zero good passes going forward. If you are going to be a weak defensive defensive midfielder you need to be a great distributor. Today Modric was neither.
6. Bart needs a break. He was asked to stay defensive today and he got roasted anyway. I think the season has caught up to him. I laughed when I saw a 5.5 grade for him…good to be Italian I guess
7. Speaking of Italians I really liked Gabbia’s positioning today. Juve was completely neutralized through the middle of the pitch
8. I thought this was a good second half for Laeo….but did he whine to Allegri again after being subbed off?
9. Ricci looked lively. One of his best games in a Milan shirt.
10. Maybe just me but I am not in favor of playing two mids in their 30’s he’d of a defensive midfielder in his 40s. I really hope Ricci and Jashari develop because we need their athleticism on the pitch.
11. I hated watching Milan last year, the undisciplined play and the cheap giveaway of goals. I have to remind myself of that when I find myself disliking what I am seeing now.
12. Forza Milan
Juve has been in great form; last 6 games, 13 points. So this 0-0 was a good result.
I disagree with Alexis being MOTM. He HAD to score that goal. Di Gregorio was out of it and left more than have the goal area completely empty; Alexis just needed to tap it in, but he hit the bar instead. That’s NOT something to be praised. His miss cost us 2 points. Otherwise, sure, he had a good game but this kind of miss is inconsistent with being rewarded MOTM. A 6.5 is appropriate.
So I’d give MOTM to either Maignan or Tomori who earned us 1 point by not allowing Juve to score. 7 for each.
The worst players were very clearly Bartesaghi, Fullkrug and Nkunku. I’d give them 4, 3 e and 3, respectively.
Rafa gets a pass because he really constructed the opportunity for the winner, which Alexis wasted. It should have been Rafa’s consecutive 2nd assist in two games and it should have been a winning goal contribution, if his companion hadn’t failed him. But no more than a pass because otherwise Rafa didn’t do much. 6
Gabbia and Pavlovic get slightly more than a pass – say, 6.25, for keeping the clean sheet against a good and in-form team.
Better than a pass, or a 6.5, are Modric, Rabiot, the already mentioned Alexis. A bit bellow a pass with 5.5 are Pulisic and Fofana.
Rather than the already mentioned subs Fullkrug and Nkunku who were failures, Ricci was decent, a 6, and Estupinan was clearly better than Davide in containing Conceicao, thus a 6.5. I don’t blame him for the yellow; Conceicao was about to get very dangerous again and in the only occasion when Estupinan couldn’t contain him legally, he contained him with a foul. Better the yellow than conceding a goal. Jashari, s/v
Allegri; I didn’t like the Fullkrug and Nkunku subs; otherwise he did read that Davide was having a bad night and Fofana was below a pass. He got his 1 point against a team that has been beating everybody, so there is merit there. His Milan however badly struggles to score. 5.5
I can’t believe how bad fofana is and how average Leao has become. This team needs a rebuild.
Yea, we will defintivily not qualifty for CL next season if we continue to encourage our best players to play out of position and force them out of form. Players like Pulisic have not scored a goal in 16 games now.
If we start next season the way we have played the second part of this season we gonna end up mid table.
This game went on as expected. I had a hunch it would end in a tie because it suits both coaches.
Solid in defense with 3CB’s. Empty upfront again, as expected. We had two good chances all game – Rabiot shot in the first 45 and Alexis’ thump in the second. That’s it. Gerry was there – hope he saw that. Not that he cares though.
Our attack reminds me of a keg that has run dry… Keep shaking it for the last drops of beer. That’s how our goals seem – to be running out. Nothing from our strikers or wingers anymore – just hopes and dreams.
Maignan 5.5
Tomori 5
Gabbia 5
Pavlovic 4.5
Saelemaekers 5.5
Fofana 5
Modric 5
Rabiot 5.5
Bartesaghi 3
Pulisic 4.5
Leao 4
Subs
Fullkrug 4
Ricci 4.5
Nkunku 4
I think the fact that our attackers have not scored in months has to raise alarm bells. We need to win at least 2 more out of 4 games to mathematically qualify for champions league. Where are the goals coming from? Pavlovic? Rabiot?
We play Sassuolo next and then Atalanta. These are games that will not be easy, if Pavlovic nor Tabiot can’t score and if our attack is again ineffective, idk how you all expect to make it to top 4…
Even though a lot of his supporters will frown at this, but, Leao isn’t getting better. He believes he still has it, but, he doesn’t. Football is not about stints on the pitch; that’s why he gets the boos from fans – which says it all. I watch Semenyo at Man. City, and I’m wondering what Leao thinks he’s doing. Fofana plays like a kid; always making needless mistakes, surprisingly, at this level. Milan will need to work on their attack. Allegri system doesn’t create much chances for the attackers. They may not be that good, but, they all are not that bad. Conceicao kept pressing us, while our Leao had just moments on the pitch. No scoring chance for Fullkrug all the time he spent. I don’t understand why we have to keep using Leao and Pulisic, while Nkunku and Fullkrug sit on the bench. Allegri has a lot to do. We can’t keep playing like this. The challenge ahead is far bigger.
At what bases you gave Saelemaekers MOTM ? Man this guy adds nothing to the club.
He was the best player on the pitch LAST NIGHT. You didn’t watch the match did you?
I don’t mind this type of game given the opponent and the situation.
Staying 6 points clear of 5th place, and with the tie breaker over both Roma and Como was the most important thing today, so this is what we’re gonna get. This is the exact same type of set up and performance that beat Inter twice and Napoli as well.
However….a solution has to come for the playing more aggressively and dominating the provincial sides. Any shot at the scudetto was lost against the minnows, not the top 6.
Leao and Puli are always going to look like this when the formation is 3-5-2. They aren’t strikers. Expecting them to be is insanity. Need to invest in CBs and a 9 if we want to see anything different next season.
The fans can blame Leao or Pulisic, however Milan has 5 forwards, none of which are scoring. The two strikers are playing out of position and are not getting along. How many times do you see someone pass to Pulisic? We know that Leao has little or no interest in Milan at this point.
Why would an attacker want to play for Allegri? It is guaranteed that Leao and Pulisic will be sold.
They are fed up with Allegri ball.
Yet again, Allegri starts with our most ineffective front 2, leao and pulisic up top, and SHOCKER!!! Yet again, IT DOESNT F’ING WORK. I need to know what his brain dead fascination is with them. That starting 2 has not worked a SINGLE TIME the entire season, yet he keeps doing it as if he thinks one day it will magically work. Were deserved to drop points here. Only positive was the back 5 holding it down for a clean sheet, that’s it. Now we dont have modric for the rest of the season…
Win, lose or draw one thing for certain, Sempre Milan forums will be full of hysterical complainers. This player vs that player. Sigh. Next week the players that had bad games will play well and vice versa. It’s football. Good players have bad games. Next match.
