By Fred Ilondo -

Inter got the better of Milan in the Derby della Madonnina after yet another poor performance from Marco Giampaolo’s side.

Marcelo Brozovic and Romelu Lukaku’s second half goals extended Milan’s run without a win in the derby (in Serie A) to seven games.

Starting XI

Donnarumma (7): The game could have been way worse without his help. Made a lot of crucial saves but at the end was let down by his team mates.

Conti (6): Had a very good first half but dropped significantly in the second half, making quite a few shocking mistakes. Decent performance overall.

Mussachio (6): Had his hands full but coped well with pressure and did well enough to save his team from a complete embarrassment.

Romagnoli (5.5): Surprisingly unimpressive. was dribbled past many times and never looked like he had the game under control.

Ricardo Rodriguez (4): Horrible performance, definitely one of his worst with the Milan jersey. Bad passes, zero offensive initiatives, and many mistakes that could have led to goals for the opposition.

Kessie (6): Physically imposing, though sometimes overwhelmed by the quality of the opponent, he did well to help the defense and move the ball quickly forward.

Biglia (5): His lateral passes do not help the build-up, his lack of focus has led to a couple of big chances for the opposition. In the end, his only accomplishment was making Rodriguez’s performance look a bit less embarrassing.

Calhanoglu (5.5): Not necessarily awful but not exactly the kind of display anyone can expect from a playmaker.

Suso (6): Made a couple of great runs and was solid in the first half. However, he was extremely wasteful and frustrating to watch at times.

Piatek (5.5): One could wonder if he has any football quality that does not involve scoring on an empty net.

Leao (6.5): Very promising display from the youngster who was by far the most dangerous player on the pitch.

Substitutions

Paqueta (6): Dictated the play very well, despite coming on during a difficult time, he did well trying to open up space for his team mates from the center of the field.

Hernandez (6.5): Electrifying, dangerous and inspiring. Made so many great runs, won a few free-kicks and even managed to hit the post after an impressive initiative. He certainly showed why he deserves to be a starter from now on.

Rebic (6): Aggressive and full of tricks. Despite being brought on late in the game, he showed passion and enthusiasm even though his team was losing. He is yet another player who deserves to play more.
