Player Ratings: AC Milan 2-3 Atalanta – only one passing grade

AC Milan failed to clinch all three points, which they needed so desperately, as several players failed to deliver against Atalanta at San Siro.

Koni De Winter made it clear before the game that additional effort would be needed from himself and his teammates. However, while it possibly looked a little bit better, they still crumbled in the decisive moments as Atalanta found the back of the net three times.

If you haven’t already, make sure to check out how we decide the player ratings. From the scale to what affects the rating, we have compiled everything there.

Short version

🥇 Fullkrug (6): Arguably the best in terms of impact, delivering effective flicks: first for Nkunku’s crossbar effort, then for the Fofana 1v1, and finally for the penalty won. The flick for that last one was absolutely lovely, it has to be said.

👎 Leao (4.5): He was carded for a reckless challenge, which means he will miss the Genoa game, and then missed a fantastic chance just a few minutes later. In the second half, he skied some efforts and had little success overall. He’s supposed to be the star of this team, but he’s not.

👔 Allegri (4.5): I agree with the starting eleven, but once again, the opponents managed to absolutely pick us apart at the back. It doesn’t matter that we created a little more in attack when the defence is so leaky. It’s been a problem for weeks now and the gaffer hasn’t found a solution.

Starting XI

Maignan (5): I don’t have any complaints about the first two goals, but he definitely could have done better on the third. He was caught off guard, and it was the usual near-post struggle for him in that moment.

De Winter (5): I actually think he did enough to ruin the angle for Raspadori before the third goal, but he still didn’t fully close him down, which you could argue is what matters. On the first goal, even if that whole situation was scrappy, he also could have done more to dispossess Raspadori.

Gabbia (5): He could have done a lot better in stopping Krstovic before the second goal, and maybe he should have even been able to stop Zappacosta. In general, though, I think the main problem was that he didn’t command the centre of the defence as he usually does.

Pavlovic (5.5): Certainly not good enough on the second goal, failing to follow Zappacosta. Laziness is the only explanation from that. He did help make things interesting at the end with a nice header, but it’s not like that made up entirely for the first mistake.

Saelemaekers (5): It’s a lot of the same, but today was really obvious in the sense that he worked hard and moved well, but lacked the composure and decision-making on the ball. He will also miss the next game due to the yellow card he got for protesting.

Loftus-Cheek (5): He only got 45 minutes on the pitch, so it’s a little hard to judge his performance, but ultimately it wasn’t good enough for a pass. Yes, there were some decent runs, but he didn’t really manage to do anything with the possession.

Ricci (5.5): It was a very nice cross for Pavlovic on the first goal, but I don’t think he did enough overall to earn a passing grade. There were a few too many mistakes on the ball, sadly, and that is something you cannot really afford in his position.

Rabiot (5): I’m going to sound very harsh here, no doubt about it, but I think he faded massively after the strike that hit the post. Sure, he came alive a little towards the end, but so did everyone. Milan needed him earlier and he didn’t contribute then.

Bartesaghi (5): While you could make a case for the performance being decent, he didn’t handle the transition between defence and attack brilliantly. The end-product in the final third also wasn’t great, with a couple of really bad crosses.

Gimenez (5.5): He helped set up the really big chance for Leao and also had other flicks that opened things up for Milan. That said, he needs to be even more comfortable with creating chances for himself too, commanding the space when in possession.

Leao (4.5): He was carded for a reckless challenge, which means he will miss the Genoa game, and then missed a fantastic chance just a few minutes later. In the second half, he skied some efforts and had little success overall. He’s supposed to be the star of this team, but he’s not.

Substitutes

Nkunku (5.5): Roller coaster, to say the least. He missed a big chance, specifically a 1v1 with the keeper, and then skied a few efforts. Things turned around when he hit the crossbar, denied by a great save, as he managed to win a penalty and convert it calmly shortly after. Still, not a passing grade.

Fofana (5): Won back the ball several times but really poor decision-making resulted in a great chance squandered, passing instead of shooting.

Fullkrug (6): Arguably the best in terms of impact, delivering effective flicks: first for Nkunku’s crossbar effort, then for the Fofana 1v1, and finally for the penalty won. The flick for that last one was absolutely lovely, it has to be said.

Athekame (N/A): I didn’t see enough to give him a rating.

Estupinan (N/A): I didn’t see enough to give him a rating.

The manager

Allegri (4.5): I agree with the starting eleven, but once again, the opponents managed to absolutely pick us apart at the back. It doesn’t matter that we created a little more in attack when the defence is so leaky. It’s been a problem for weeks now and the gaffer hasn’t found a solution.

  1. A lot to say but if I say it, it means I hate the club (according to you know who) so I will be content with the incompetence to prove I love the club 😂😂😂

I ain’t posting too quickly. It’s actually my first post all day 🤣🤣🤣
That’s the incompetence we’re talking about. A 0roblem that has been here for long but still hasn’t been fixed 😅
And yeah, I also agree that we shouldn’t make the UCL cuz what we gonna do there anyway? Oops! Now I’m a hater… Dayum

    2. Lol. Como’s Heir incoming with the “you’re not a true fan” bit in 3… 2……

And yes… Add the over abundance of ads to the posting too quickly big

        1. Yea, it’s good to go on vacay from time to time. Plus the site is so buggy and full of ads.
Take a break some time. There’s more to life than football.
          Visit places like Como perhaps

    3. Those reading comprehension skills….

People can distinguish between hating v criticising the players and manager.

Try it with your family or friends.

If they let you down you don’t ‘sell’ or abandon them, you criticise them.

      Hope that helps.

It was a bad day and confidence is low. And, yes, it is probably time to let Leao go. And it pains me to say that as it should everyone else.

          1. You said time to sell, doesn’t matter if it pains you. You switched up on a Scudetto winner. Learn to write.

      1. ” And, yes, it is probably time to let Leao go. And it pains me to say that as it should everyone else.”
Leão is a scudetto winner and a legend of the club !!!
        How dare you !!!

        1. Scudetto winning players with a Scudetto winning coach. How dare he! Lol 😂
I swear this guy needs to learn the meaning of hypocrisy

    4. CL is still great thing to have even if we cant really compete. But one thing I can agree with we wont see the change we need if we do qualify. Allegri will stay and we will continue to play the same way. That worries me

  2. In the last 15 minutes of the match I lived with the feeling that the players said, to hell with what Allegri tells us to play. Let’s play what we know. That was my feeling at the end of the match.

    1. He basically goes to Landucci when he needs a goal. Landucci prefers the 433 and can organize the team as such. It’s why we play so well offensively and with the players in their preferred positions

Go figure the assistant is better than the actual coach

  3. I think all the subs made a good impact, nkunku deserves at least a 6 today, brought good energy today, even fofana was pretty good. Giminez has to go. Whole back line today was a bit shaky including bartesaghi, another below average showing. Hopefully they’ll make CL.

    1. Giminez, Fullkrug and Nkunku all deserved 6’s. Had Pavlo not lost his man on one of the goals, he would deserve a 6.

Leao is out the next game – I would have benched him for next week. Let’s go with the 5-2-3 again and have Gimenez centering Nkunku and Pulisic (if he’s ready) if front. Probably what we should have been playing all year (with Fullkrug in the middle while Santi has been injured).

I’m not sure we’ll ever see Leao ever see the field again for Milan. His egg timer has gone off. Wish him well wherever he goes next.

  4. Its interesting how when you decide to play attacking football, the players that fans call bad and useless can actually be very useful. Fulkrug is a penalty are striker, hard to be useless when his coach has the team sitting in their own half. He created at least 3 clear cut goalscoring scoring chances that Nkunku should have scored, just like when he created for Pulisic in one of his rare starts vs Fiorentina.
Nkunku put more effort in the 30 minutes he played than Leao in the 30 games he played all season long. Leao being suspended is actually a blessing for Milan.
Ricci was ass as a regista, as predicted, but at least he puts in the effort and works hard. The players deserve credit for not giving up on the game.
    RLC dives more than Barella.
Maignan. You should never overpay for a goalkeeper.
Pellegati cries about Allegri possible firing. Allegri’s Milan, without European football, is only 7 points better in serie A than the Fonseca/Conceicao combo from last season, that same people wanted fired. Conceicao who came mid season earned more points, coaching in 4 competitions, than Allegri coaching in only 1.
Milan still control their own destiny. Hopefully they can squeeze couple wins and at least qualify for the UCL. After that Furlani should go, followed by Allegri and Leao.
Lets see if Lazio can help Milan out. Parma can help too but they choked today, so I don’t expect much from them

  5. I am all for the protests against the owners and management. I have been against them since Maldini, Massara, and Tonali were let go. However, I don’t like booing/whistling our own players during matches. It felt like the stadium was waiting for the players, particularly Leao, to make a mistake. That never feels good, and I have always admired Maldini for standing up against those fans.
The team needs support and I hope they qualify for the Champions League. This cannot continue though; the incompetent management, the lack of direction, the toxic environment, scapegoating individual players, the 3-5-2. There need to be consequences for what has been happening these past three seasons.

    1. That was what I was thinking during tonight’s game, the fans shouldn’t boo the players at this crucial time since UCL has not been thrown away completely. They need all the support, if after the support from the remaining games, and they still didn’t achieve good results and qualification then they can boo at the end

    2. Tonight there was no effort from the players, so that’s why fans booed them. When there’s a ball few meters from you and you don’t move, they should boo you. When the ball is coming towards you, but you don’t go to the ball and the opponent takes it away for the 10th time, they should boo you. Complete lack of effort today, except for the last 15 minutes. I am all for supporting the players in tough times, but not when there’s no effort.

    3. @Sheva …. I thought the same thing in our away game against Sassuolo . Why spend money to travel only to boo your own players. You’ll never find that sort of thing with English clubs for instance. They’ll cheer especially when the team is down. They’re there to provide a lift especially when things are bad. The Sassuolo fans didn’t even need to boo when they got the away crowd doing it for them..

These supporters are very much “what have you don’t for me lately”. And I hate to say that as a Milan fan it’s been going on for farrr too long. Try giving the team a lift in bad times. Criticize the management no problem.but the team itself is who you should always cheer for. We’re still playing for something right? How about helping out . Is that hard to ask for from fans

      1. Couldn’t have said it better.

And it’s far more toxic than this because it is the thing that is driving most of the instability.

The owners and other chancers wouldn’t get away with what they’re doing if the fans stood by the players.

They’re should’ve been riots when Maldini, Massara, Tonali, Pioli, Calabria, Theo et al were forced out, but these same fans supported this – they demanded it.

I remember the banners after the disastrous Summer 2023 transfer campaign where the owners ripped the heart out of the Scudetto winning squad and signed a bunch of randomers.

That should’ve been the beginning of the protests. In hindsight I should’ve quit back then.

          1. And that’s why the club’s decline started with the sale of Shevchenko…..

PS I used the word ‘riot’ metaphorically.

          2. That same decline can be seen when PSG sold Mbappe, Messi and Neymar… such kind of players should never be sold, just sign life contracts with them, they need to play till they turn 60, they are the only good ones out there.

          3. Ummm yea there were huge protests when Kaka was about to be sold to Man City (not that I agree with the sentiment that we should protest each player sold, but we should SUPPORT the team).
As an FYI, It was the pressure from fans that led to Galliani caving to the demands and Kaka staying (re: posing with the Milan jersey from the balcony window) . Even if for a short period, it was effective. Around the time of Kaka and Sheva being sold was the beginning of the end for the club in terms of ambition to be the best in Europe. Players needed to be sold to balance the books and Calciopoli meant not top players were coming to the league anymore

    4. Milan fans are one of the most insensitive and non tactical you can find in entire Europe, always instigated by the media especially at critical times and matches.

  6. For those in support of Allegri, I hope the last 25 minutes should convince you that he’s not needed at Milan. And it should tell that the forwards are not as bad as portrayed, for crying out loud, Leao and Pulisic still did better than last season than this. Leao still has his flaws were I still kind of dislike his game, but to be honest, Allegri system made him worst(forget the injury excuse).

When Milan was 1-0 down, the commentator keep repeating “That it is bizarre and painful that Milan is still seating on a low block while down”.

Allegri pack the bus may not be too painful when we are on the lead, but it is very annoying when Milan is behind, the commentator was equally frustrated as Milan fans.

Management has their side if blame, but Allegri is a No

    1. Low block in 2026 only works against some teams in Serie A. Have you seen Barca beating Real today? The chance Rashford had defended and how high they pressed and how fast they moved to create that 1 and 1 with Real’s GK? Allegri would never be able to set anything like that even if playing Fifa playing Milan vs champions of San Marino league. I hoped for a boring safe 4 under him. The issue we supposedly have with Leao, Nkunku and Puli is also a nonsense. The last time he was here he got rid off a half of attacking squad and played Robinho as a second striker. This what is happening this year is nothing new for him.

    2. Allegri sets us up to play like a provincial team. We defend and then try to sucker punch a goal. It’s what teams like Cremonese and Pisa do. It works for us against the other big teams because the big teams attack and expose themselves. It works for us against the big teams in the way it doesn’t work for Cremonese and Pisa because we have the individual talent to make those counter attacks result in goals. Barely. But when we play against small clubs that play like that, we become just another small club, because this team simply does not know how to attack or what to do with the ball. I was against Allegri, and if we finish outside the top four I will expect his resignation as well as from the man who hired him, Furlani. Enough of this humiliation.

    3. LOL, and Leao is missing sitters every week, because of Allegri. Get a grip. He’s been a nuisance for literally every coach we’ve had since 2022 and most of them deployed an attacking style.

      1. The club signed Nkunku as Leao’s back up for events like this since he cannot be reliable in every match, yet despite “missing sitters” yet the coach always deploy him, and fans continue to blame Leao and spare the coach who continues to select him even when the management has given him an option.

We blame thesame management for signing Nkunku who should have played when Leao isn’t reliable, but somehow Furlani and Leao are to blame while Allegri must be defended.

We scored two goals with a high tempo play without an Allegri-style striker.

        1. Allegri is definitely not faultless in all of this, but to bring Allegri in to play Allegri-ball while the team is built for money-ball is a whole different level of incompetence and idiocy …

  7. Pavlovic and Nkunku deserve passing scores, maybe even a 6.5. The others, not. This team is mediocre without Modric. I think Rabiot is saving himself for the WC. Without top form Rabiot and without Modric, we’re last season’s Milan, except for the only player left who is consistently good, Pavlovic.

I doubt we’ll make top 4, which will trigger banter years.

  8. The score does not mask the reality of this game, we were horrific.

I do hope Allegri is gone, he fails worse than anyone, because it’s ugly. There is no future or building anything with him.
Anyway he is merely a symptom of terrible owners and management.

You simply cant continue to sell the few good players we stumble upon and expect to be successful.
Though funnily that is what Atalanta do but are much better at it. Interesting we are after their sporting director, says a lot about how the owners think.

I dont get mad anymore, just dissapointed or apathetic. We were so close to being a serious club again before Redturd came along. Really only 3 players from being a top team. Now it’s just an ugly mess with no real talent coming through that we may build upon.

I asked at the start of the season – Who will replace the goals and assists of Theo and Tiji? – well nobody

    1. “I asked at the start of the season – Who will replace the goals and assists of Theo and Tiji? – well nobody”

I asked the same thing too. And only got the “experts” here who were quick to dismiss that impact (they know who they are, many you don’t see anymore). 20 percent of our output gone isn’t just going to replace itself so easily.
You hit the nail on the head again. We keep turning over personnel so much. And the few quality players we have we’re so easy to sell like a cheap wh0re. Went from a few pieces to be a serious team to wandering about in the desert like coming out of banter years

    2. If Allegri goes you’ll get another revolution as the new manager will have his own ideas.

This squad was competing for the Scudetto a few months ago. No ‘if’s’ or ‘buts’ or ‘excuses’ for why the team did what it was doing – it is a simple recorded fact of very recent history.

The wheels have come off in the past few months but the reference point on which to build is a few months ago.

I’m the first to miss Theo (less so Reijnders who never really achieved much at Milan but has the undying love of many) but they are in the past (like thousands of others).

The future needs to build on the present.

Had Milan had a goalscoring striker at stages of this season (even before the wheels came off) they’d be a different position.

Had Milan had a more reliable midfielder than Fofana and RLC the same.

The defence was the best in the league for a long time. it doesn’t need to be changed.

The focus should be on tweaks to the attack.

And Allegri remains the most successful current coach in Serie A. More historic facts on which we use to plan for the future.

      1. uhm… achieved not much. ATM I’d be happy to see someone who scores 15 and assists 5 times in one season.

      2. “If Allegri goes you’ll get another revolution as the new manager will have his own ideas.”

Lol, no they won’t. The only “Allegri” player that Allegri got was Rabiot. And the only reason we got Rabiot was because he got into a last minute hissy fit with a teammate. Otherwise nobody that arrive in the summer is a player Allegri requested. So the new coach isn’t going to get anyone they want either, as all coaches at Milan get whatever player management wants to sign. And therein lies the problem. The coach says left, management says right, and we go nowhere.

  9. Cardinale (and to some degree Furlani) successfully managed to take a club that was doing well financially and on the pitch that simply needed some improvment in some areas and turn it into an absolute joke of a club.
We had one coach or more per season now and possibly a new one next season.
We had a new administrative structure every season or so.
We buy a bunch of garbage players each season and then sell half of them the next one.
And this season we went from competing for the scudetto to not even sure if we will qualify to the UCL next season.
Missing the UCL would be a disaster, but again do we really want to see this bunch of players managed by Allegri playing against Bayern or PSG ?
But hey I guess we should be thankful, because our finances are good and we will have a stadium in the year 3000 and some NBA sh!t.

    1. Missing out on cl is not as bad as it may sound. This team needs a whole new overhaul. Pulisic, Pablo, leao will be sold maybe more. Allegri, probably will leave for the Italy job. With a new coach and new players takes time to adapt right. 1 season without CL pressure will do them good. Another scenario is qualifying for CL will only fill the pockets of these bankers and not benefit the team as they will just sell our decent players and replace them with junk. I’d rather have these bankers bleed money at this point to be honest. Had enough of them.

      1. I disagree. CL money is massive even if a team wins nothing comparing to other cups. I think the worst team last year got more than semi-finalists of conference league or something like that. Lower cups are good for teams like Bologna or Atalanta. This will do nothing for Milan. We will just see the club chocking against mid table teams from Austria and Belgium instead.

  10. Well this was another horrible performance, much like most of the games under allegriball. Bunch of guys running around like headless chicken with vision and game plan. We all blame allegri for this ugly game, but the real culprits are the bankers that hired him, like no one knew how his style is. Besides furlani, moncada etc leaving leao should follow right behind him. Yes allegri ruined his game by starting him as a striker but he is lazy as hell. Nkuku, fullkrug and fofana deserve higher rating. Simply for the fact that they came on with a much needed urgency. Anyways, hate to sound like a broken record, but again these bankers have no idea how to build a club. For anyone that disagrees on that just look at our milan eversiince they took over. They are even taking away our colors for the love of god. Playing at home in front of our fans with yellow shirts with weird names in the back. Is that even legal? Embarrassing. Boycott everything until these fools leave.

    1. Your right the Red and Black used to strike fear in the opponent, now its like “oh were playing Chievo”

      1. The players that Milan had stroke fear in opponents, not the jersey colors.
People complain about the most meaningless things. Like it is the jersey color the reason why Milan gets beat at home.

        1. As a long long long time milan fan i associate with red and black. And not some yellow or pink color. Win or lose, seria a or seria c, I support milan. And rred and black “il diavolo” are the colors. Of course teams have a second and third jersey that still represent the clubs logo in some way. Remember our ” CL lucky” wite shirts? They still had our red and black lines on the side. Anyways, you must be a new fan or something that that verona shirt doesn’t bother you.

          1. Milan lost to Atalanta because the players are poor, not because of what jersey Milan wears. They could have wore the red and black jersey that you as a long long long long long long long long long Milan fan associate with and still would lose. Milan lost 3-0 at home to Udinese wearing the jersey you associate with.
My comment was very clear, you complain about something that has no effect on the result or performance.
Also, every club in football from time to time alternate jerseys at home for commercial reasons. Matter fact the idea for the gold jersey is actually from the 90’s when Milan was using the same color on their jersey long long long long Milan fan.

          1. Sorry old man, but Milan played in the “scary” red and black jersey vs Udinese at home just 2 weeks ago and the only players that were in awe were Milan players, not the opponents. 0-3 shellacking.
Jersey color play absolutely no effect on anyone, unless one or few of the players have sensitive eyes to a certain color.

  11. 4-3-3 and we scored 2 goals. Nkunku looked like a star once the players let loose without being constrained by Allegri ball in that last 30 mins.

Allegri must leave!! We should have done like Tottenham and hire a proper coach before the end of the season so he can start now to figure out who he wants to keep next season.

Allegri had no competitions this year and only 7 points better than Fonseca/Conceicao with more competitions. Smh.

  12. Harsh on Nkunu. When you play hard and are aggressive not every play works out. But overall, he was a positive force and generated energy for the time he was on the field. I prefer this type of play rather than the typical passive play that Allegri hamstrings this team with. 6.5 for him. Allegri to me get a 4. Sitting back and letting the other team dictates play doesn’t work. When ACM started to attack they controlled the game. Allegri needs to find a little team to play his fearball.

    1. Allegriball has long been finished. That style doesn’t work anymore in today’s football. That’s why I blame the management for hiring him at the first place. And that shows their lack of vision for the club.

  13. Big mistake Cardinale to sack Maldini so both you and Furlani should now leave and please take Scaroni, Ibrahimovic, Tare and Moncada with you and a complete clear out is incumbent!!!!!

  14. The 352 is no longer providing security as when we have the ball, most of players aren’t suited to the formation and provide little.
    Turnover and invite pressure.

Leao suspension is a blessing for next week.
    He has zero confidence now.

343 or 433 should be the formation.
If he wants extra protection in a back 4 them play Pavlovic as a LB. He loves to get forward anyway. And I don’t think he is reliable in a back 2 CBs.

Fofana was good when came on.
Nkunku surprised me with his last 30 mins.
He had almost no involvement until Leao went off. Then moved across to the left side and was dangerous.
On the right side he was almost invisible.

3 players suspended for the Genoa game.

    1. Yes, our 352’s no longer provide stability. One of the reasons I’ve seen on our recent matches is because the underperformance of our WBs. The wingbacks are vital to this 352 balance. Bartesaghi is too easily beaten recently, made too many simple mistakes in defending. Alexis is simply not the player we saw on the early season. Lacking energy and even worse decision making. That’s why I support Athekame to take his place as everytime he does, he seems to have this extra energy.

The other reason is the lack of regista (other than Modric). Jashari is not ready. Ricci’s even worse (that’s why Max prefer him in mezzala). We should try Fofana in that position. He can do well in defense as shown last season as a double pivot.

      1. @IBRAHIM BA, YOU HAVE SPOKEN THE BITTER TRUTH BUT NO ONE WANTS TO SEE YOUR POINTS, THAT BE SAID, I LOVE AC MILAN TO THE END OF ETERNITY.

        1. Yes we spend some of our precious time reading, commenting, disagreeing here, without even knowing each other in real life only because we do care about Milan. We might have different angles and perspectives but I do believe what we only want to see Milan being a glorious and honorable club it once was in the end. Forza Milan, per sempre.

  15. First of all how many ads y’all gonna run on one screen. Plus you have the ad on text which adds (pardon the pun) another layer of pop ups. It’s so hard to navigate the pages because I accidentally click on one of those things, which is quite easy, and then have to come back. I get you guys need revenue sources but it’s a bit much for the user experience.
Hope you take this as usable feedback.

Anyways, the ratings seem as bad as the game..
How can you blame De Winter for the third goal? That’s as good a close down as you can get. The goal was entirely Mike’s fault. It wasn’t a top corner shot. It went straight to Mike then to goal. …near corner once more.
Mike, as bad as it sounds, costed us a point today as we’d have a draw and a point ahead of Roma.

It feels like we’re just stumbling at the last hurdle and we thought we had 4th place or better shored up. So now we’re playing desperation ball.
Another revolution incoming this summer to correct the ills of last summer transfer window. Rinse and repeat.. they’ll never learn.

    1. “How can you blame De Winter for the third goal? That’s as good a close down as you can get.”

If that was the case, the shot simply would’ve been blocked. Harldy the only one to blame, but it was very reminiscent of how he defended against Hojlund in the Supercoppa. These small details are exactly why our defense is considered at best the fifth or sixth best in the league in terms of individual quality (thanks to Allegri they’ve been overperforming massively for most of the season).

      1. Not sure why my longer post isn’t getting through but long story short the bigger issue is Mike, not De Winter. From a tight angle, near post and ball went straight at him. He’s mostly culpable for the goal

    2. For £1 a month you can get rid of all the ads and honestly it is well worth it. This sites mobile experience is unusable with the amount of ads.

  16. It’s time to burn a lot of it down. CL or no.

Sell the most marketable assets, get rid of Allegri, reload with a coach who doesn’t play scared and players who show some heart and more importantly emotional strength.

    Embarrassing run in.

  17. Allegi is probably somewhat responsible for the drop in form but he elected the right team and made the right subs who turned the game around, so I think he deserves a better grade here than 4.5. But, thee main culprit is without a doubt firing Maldini! All responsible for that must leave!

  18. The 1 big positive today? Easy. Leao is suspended, so Allegris brain dead ahh cant pick him in the 11 again next week. He has tried to force him in the front alongside literally every other person, from gimenez to puli to nkunku to Fullkrug to RLC. And EVERY SINGLE TIME hes the one holding us back. Notice how the moment nkunku and fullkrug went in together and we actually tried to play offensive, we created numerous opportunities and got 2 goals for it, should’ve had more too. The favt allegri will 100% just go back to the same failing methods next week is what will cost us UCL next season. Its ridiculous and absolutely pitiful to watch

  19. People now see the work of Allegri. I have said this from the season start that he was trash and his Juve spectacularly collapsed in his last season. The same happened here. It has nothing to do with formation or players, it is very negative dinosaur tactics. Even prime Messi would flop under him. Milan should fire him for the last 2 matches and should get someone. I really hope this dinosaur don’t become Italy CT

      1. Please talk about last 4season results, stop praising Allegri, he is no more that top coach, he need refresher course, even his defensive strategies was a colossal failure. I can do better as fan coaching Milan team than Allegri has done so far

        1. He is, by any definition, a ‘top coach’.

And he’s turned the club around from a chaotic 8th to a relatively stable 4th.

          1. LOL. Modric & Rabiot raised the level, not Allegri.

Allegri might have been decent years ago. But then again, so was Zlatan. Let’s bring him back to play as #9 since we love to live in the past, eh?

  20. Milan are struggling.

    It happens.

It happens to every team during the season.

Over the course of a season the league table balances out.

If Milan finishes in the top 4 then it’s Allegri’s stated mission accomplished.

If he is sacked for achieving what he said he’d achieve then the club really is a basket case.

This is the club (with the support of people on here) who

    – sacked Maldini and Massara after the club returned to the Champions League and reached the semi-finals (not ‘good enough’ people said on here);

    – sacked Pioli for finishing 2nd (not ‘good enough’ people said on here),

and if they sack Allegri now for achieving his stated goal there is no coming back.

The club is like a poorer version of Chelsea.

If they finish 5th then Allegri won’t have delivered. They could perhaps look at a different manager but Allegri is the current most successful manager in the league.

Anyone else will involve the roll of a dice.

It took over 5 managers to get from Allegri to Pioli. Whoever is the owner of the club sacking the manager is risky as there’s a good chance Milan could go backwards (see last season).

    1. Coaches, like players, have a shelf life. Allegri’s has expired. He cannot find solutions to in game problems and he doesn’t know how to coach modern players, in the same way Mourinho doesn’t. Allegri is gone regards of whether or not we get a UCL place.

      1. Players have a shelf life because of the physical aspect of the game.

Coaches do not, in fact, have a shelf life, and if Allegri suffered from the issues that you claim Milan would not be back in the Champions League places.

Maybe stop with all of your oh-so-confident statements which are based on your opinions/sensitives.

        1. “Coaches do not, in fact, have a shelf life, ”

Allegri has already proven you wrong. He’s not relevant anymore. Every coach in Serie A can beat him – most of them with an inferior squad too.

        2. “Coaches do not, in fact, have a shelf life”
Then why Capello, Ferguson,… who were among the greatest coaches ever, retired ?
Why no big team sought to bring Capello since 2012 ?
Why is Mourinho, a coach who won 2 UCL with underdogs and many scudettis, EPLs,… is currently with Benfica ?
I can go on and on.
Allegri is currently the most successful coach is serie A but hasn’t won a major title since 2019.
The poster you’re replying to is absolutely right, coaches do in fact have a shelf life.

  21. Its so true what the curva suddenly say. 4 years ago we had one of the youngest teams in Europe, playing beautiful attacking football with grit and unity and all we needed was a few quality European players to catapult us to be a power house team and we ended up blowing it all up and being where we are today?

When did Giorgio furlani slither his way into this position? We went from maldini and massara creating something to furlani coming out of nowhere and firing everybody and literally selling our identity in tonali all in the blink of an eye. Scaroni is the biggest fraud president I’ve ever seen he legit has no say in anything to with milan. All of a sudden, ibrahimovics and Moncadas names have gone cold this season but furlanis name continues to come up for all the wrong reasons.

If we dont make champions league this season then I 100% deem this season to be miles worse than last season because this season up until 7 games ago we were fighting for scudetto, comfortably in second thinking we’ve already locked down a cl spot and fast forward to present day and deep down I think we will somehow blow it and miss out on a spot.

Leao needs to go. Whether or not allegri is making bad use of him he hasn’t shown any sign of growth since winning the scudetto and now hes just become the most annoying player in the pitch. The defense is the least of our worries because its still one of the best in the top 5 leagues. More competent strikers and midfielders and furlani out. If this man is still here there is no hope. Or let tare and allegri have full control and work without having that man’s consent cause this just too crazy. A very upset fan here once again.

    1. Enough with the revisionist history. The scudetto was the limit of that team. Ibrahimovic, Giroud and Kjaer needed to be replaced and the reasons M&M were sacked is because their failure to move on Donarumma, Cana and Kessie for money (that’s why Tonali was sold, there wasn’t enough money for a rebuild) and because of CDK and Origi. The two major signings for the attack bombed. Also anyone who complains about Tonali being sold is an imbecile of the highest order, he was banned for a year, that would have been money down the toilet. It was a masterstroke, in the same way we sold Real Madrid a broken Kaka’. As for Piloi, did you forget the regular humiliation against Inter? Or the mini collapses during the season? That’s why he was fired.

      1. Revisionist history?

So you side with the scum mercenary players and their agents over the club?

That’s what you money people will never understand.

The reason Milan won the Scudetto is because Maldini and Massara stood up to the mercenary scum.

As for the ‘masterstroke’ of abandoning a player with a gambling problem – again you simply don/t understand what it takes to WIN.

To win players and the team need to play for each other.

All of this oh-so-clever wheeling and dealing leaves an empty vessel.

There is no point playing for or supporting this Milan because it’s just a bunch of randomers.

Had the Scudetto winning squad been kept in tact (bar some retirees and upgrades) there’d be a core of players coming to their 5th or 6th season together.

        You cannot buy that experience.

The defence barely has 50 games together (if you take Gabbia and Tomori). The great defences had hundreds of games together.

Milan will never get there because they can’t stick.

      2. Please don’t speak like this in here, not many can comprehend you unpopular position, sensationalism drives in here over guided reasoning common sense.

      3. Maldini and Massara cut our wages in half, lowered the age of the team while promoting attacking football. Donnarumma happened because of Donnarumma the same thing would have happened.
Either way Maldini came in his last season and inherited this problem at the wrong time.

But this whole saga is just a demonstration of if it isn’t broke don’t fix it.

  22. Anyway, it’s really nice to see all those tourists with their children still smiling and enjoying while we’re 3 goals down. Remember, it’s about entertainment not the game. That’s what Gerry’s trying to sell. So chill.

  23. From day one, even though he later won so many games unbeaten, Allegri is not and can never be my choice. Big mistake from the management!

  24. Best response i have seen all season. However a bit disappointing because we were totally outplayed in the 1st half…the defense just did not inspire confidence and the least said about our attackers the better. I guess we made it really difficult for ourselves leaving it to the last two games. Hope they can salvage something from a rather poor but tricky season. I now shows what a difference Modric made to this team…

  25. I posted before the beginning of the season that I don’t want Allegri because of his slow, negative and boring football. I said unlike the rest of Europe as was seen at UCL final when PSG thrashed Inter, teams are becoming younger, faster and more athletic. Allegri’s teams get slower and older like most teams in Serie A. A lot of the fans were getting excited for Allegri and I was saying have you not seen his matches? He won the league at Juve because of team made by Conte just like Inzaghi at Inter. And his friends always used to lie and say he turned down Teal Madrid. Real WOULD NEVER hire this tool but a lot of AC fans were happy with this guy. I was saying give Concecao a full season as coach or get De Zerbi. Even now you’ll get the few tools who will still support him. Also I wouldn’t have signed Modric and Allegri’s son the money grabbing Rabiot as I believe we should have played Ricci and Jashiri together and may be they would have formed a good partnership instead of the odd game here and ruining their confidence. You’ll get the odd fan saying Modric and Rabiot have been our best players, there lies the problem with fans accepting old slower players then criticising about our situation.

  26. Nkunku basically did the same as Leao. Got into a few top chances and then missed all of them. They both can’t hit the goal if it isn’t a penalty

    1. He basically scored a goal – something Leao didn’t. He also won a penalty – something Leao didn’t. He was also basically more involved than Leao in any of his previous 10 games put together. He also played 30 minutes less than Leao. Yeah, barely a difference. His second “miss” was the keeper intervening with great reflex, it wasn’t him kicking the ball in his frame, like Leao did.

      1. Ok. Did you drop on your head after the game? He missed 3 chances and scored a penalty. They are both sh*t. If that is good enough for you I feel sorry for you. I have higher standards than losers like you.

        1. I’m not even a Nkunku supporter, I’m just poiting out your (as always) ridiculous assessment of the game. Leao has received one of the lowest ratings for last night’s game among all sports media while Nkunku shares the highest with Pavlovic. I guess all sport journalists should knock on your door next time they’re having doubts whether winning and scoring a penalty is better than being booed off by your fans after a horrible miss and 64 other minutes of nothingness.

          1. Ok clown. I wasn’t even “assessing” the game but 2 players. Once again, if you people think Nkunku missing 3 chances is great it’s your low standards, not me. Couldn’t care less what “journalists” think, intelligent people don’t strive to become a journalist, so you don’t see intelligent people amongst them…

          2. ?? It’s always the tactic of halfwits like you. I can do that as well. Oh you obviously have some mental issues. Sorry for disturbing your current better period. ?? 😂

  27. The air is so toxic with these pseudo-owners that I feel even the players are trying to kick them out for a second season in a row by boycotting games. The yellow kits and the theatre crowd having a laugh at 0-3 are RedBird’s Milan in a nutshell. It has nothing to do with the club’s traditions and ambition. Such pathetic losers, from Napoleon to the guy who finds it boring to win or the constantly drunk old man who is supposed to be “president”. Do we even need to talk about players’ performances anymore? Literally the same story repeats itself for a third year in a row after the Infamous kicked Paolo out. Do we even get excited about transfers or coaches anymore? Hell no, because Napoleon is the one who calls the shots and he doesn’t understand even the basics of football. Whenever someone asks for more in terms of football thrive (for example – the January transfer market), he points his little finger and says NO, we’re only chasing the budget scudetto.

Shortsighted people blaming it on Allegri (and previously Conceicao) are just what this management loves. The second best kind of fans for them next to the tourists, taking selfies at San Siro.

  28. At this point I believe that the team is sabotaging Allegri’s position in order to get rid of him. I refuse to believe that these players who used to wipe the floor with Sassuolo and Atalanta cannot play anymore.

  29. It’s near the end of the season. We have no image or playing style. This isn’t a team. I usually blame players, but this is Allegri’s fault.

  30. Pavlovic is the only center back who gets good ratings for his attacking ability but never get bad rating for his poor defense or positioning.
