Starting XI
Maignan (6): Considering Lecce only had one shot on target, albeit a powerful free-kick effort on the edge of the box, there wasn’t much for the Frenchman to do this evening. Not even with his feet as Milan were allowed time in the backline.
Tomori (6): Another very solid display from the Englishman with good defending, as well as some overlapping runs in attack. Not that he was massively tested by the Lecce attack, but still positive.
De Winter (6): He looked calm and confident, like he said before the game, though it ended up being a very comfortable game for the defenders. Camarda had to fight on his own, basically, so I can’t really give a high rating here.
Pavlovic (6.5): Just about gets a 6.5 here for his involvement in attack, pushing up high often to offer support. Of course, the main highlight from him was the free-kick effort that forced a wonderful save out of the goalkeeper.
Saelemaekers (7): This game suited him really well as he was able to run at the defenders. As always, he was lively and that helped the team a lot. He almost got a great assist in the first half, when Rabiot hit the woodwork, but Nkunku made sure he got one in the second half after another great cross.

Loftus-Cheek (7): To be honest, he was extremely unlucky not to get a goal. He had a shot cleared off the line after just two minutes, then shot just wide at the end of the first half, and finally hit the post after a very nice turn in the second half. He was also involved in the third goal. Great performance indeed.
Ricci (5.5): It may seem harsh, but considering the level of the opponent and the good opportunity this was for the midfielder, he didn’t take it. There were some good passes, don’t get me wrong, but he didn’t make the holding role his and often found himself out wide. Plus, the tactical yellow card was very unnecessary and may be why he was subbed off so early.
Rabiot (7 – MOTM): The Frenchman nearly got a goal, hitting the woodwork at the back post, but he was highly involved in the first goal after a great pass for Bartesaghi. He also got stuck in, both in attack and in defence, and showed great leadership. For me, the way he made up for Modric’s absence is the main reason for the MOTM here.
Bartesaghi (6.5): There were no question marks about his performance tonight, offering both solid defending and attacking involvement. He made the run quite often in attack and was rewarded when Rabiot picked him out, which resulted in the assist for Gimenez. Encouraging from the youngster.
Nkunku (7): He was lively from the get-go and made things happen when in possession. For example, he was the reason Lecce had to play with 10 men. He did miss two good chances after that, but then found the back of the net with a lovely finish on the volley. A high-quality goal, in other words, and an encouraging display.

Gimenez (6.5): He’s off the mark! Though a goal might warrant a higher rating, we have to remember he missed a couple of good chances before that. It was also a pretty easy finish in the end to break the deadlock. Nevertheless, very important for him tonight and nearly a 7 here.
Substitutes
Fofana (6.5): The midfielder got involved immediately with some nice passes and eventually got an assist, sending a cross into the box that Pulisic capitalised on.
Athekame (6): He’s clearly got good pace and strength in his runs, which is something that could come in handy, and he got to show some of that tonight.
Pulisic (7): It didn’t take many minutes before he got on the scoresheet. The awareness to make the run, not to mention the finish, is very impressive. He caused issues for Lecce after that as well, almost forcing an own-goal after a good move inside the box.
Balentien (6): Confidence isn’t lacking after all that time spent at Milanello, that’s for sure! He’s still a bit raw but there’s potential there.
Odogu (N/A): I didn’t see enough to give him a rating.

Ricci was not a 5.5. Aldo for me Saelemaekers easy MOTM
Ricci was better than 5.5 and odogu did enough to get a rating. Disciplined in playing it across the back was brave enough to knock a diagonal ball that didn’t quite come off but definitely encouraging start. That picture of nkunku and the balloon with all the teammates loving it is a great indicator of the mood in the camp. I like the confidence clearly running through this team now and I can’t wait for the Napoli and Juve tests. Praying everyone stays fit and the added boost of leao coming back in
I concur.
Allegri’s work with Milan’s defense so far is impressive. From a team that kept conceding easy goals to one that has conceded only in one game out of five this season.
Six. We’ve played six games.
5 Clean sheets and wins.
5 is one of his favorite numbers now, he’ll understand 🤭😂
What a final that was 😂😂😂😂
Yeah, I had forgotten about the Bari match.
This team is giving me good vibes all round, Saelemaekers makes our wing tick, at this point he is a key piece to our attack progress through the wings, Athekame also impressed with his passes to the midfield bypassing the press instead of the traditional pass to the CBs at all times.
Rabiot covers a lot of ground and is always running, a great addition to this team.
I hope the Fofana haters can see that he is a vital team player.
A great win all round, no cause for complain.
Forza Milan
Funny how some ‘Milan fans’ were crying about everything before the season started, and now that games are actually being played… poof, they’re gone. Were they ever real fans, or just kids who love whining about the club no matter what?
I can see most of the same people writing comments. Is that you imagination maybe? You made up something to finally be right? 😀
I still congratulate the team despite criticism I offer. I am a fan of this club.
This game was against a 10 player Lecce. We found ways to lose these types of games in recent years so it is a positive start.
The big tests are coming up and we will see where we measure in a spot for CL contention, maybe a title race if we win both games.
Clean, routine, dominant win.
They look better and better with each game.
I don’t know who Jonathan Rowe is, but I wanna thank him for getting in a fight with Rabiot. That fight and transfer might have changed Milan whole season. Rabiot has been amazing for Milan. A complete midfielder who is everywhere on the pitch. Its a shame he didn’t score those 2 chances in the 1st half.
I also wanna thank the numbnuts in management for not loaning out again or selling Saelemaekers. Another very good performance by Alexis.
This new free role in a 2 men front might suits Pulisic perfectly. He is enjoying himself.
It was nice to see Gimenez score, even though he almost scuffed that one too. Hopefully it calms him down because he doesn’t have a nose for the goal, he makes all the right reads and movements in the box, but needs to finish those chances. Outside of the box he is very poor.
Nkunku looked OK.
What a free kick by Pavlovic!
Bring on Napoli.
Thanks to Jonathan Rowe. That’s gold.
Pulisic and Nkunku both pair well with Gimenez in a front 2. Giving that option outside the box in attack that he struggles with.
They also benefit from him drawing much of the CB attention in the box. Making space for them. E.g. Pulisic goal tonight.
Juventus will be biting their fingers for not keeping rabiot , the very first match rabiot played against Milan he scored against milan and since then I have wished for him to wear the famous ❤️🖤 jersey
FORZA MILAN ❤️🖤
I am one of those who enjoy reading these ratings, as I usually agree. But today I think these ratings are way of the mark. Barthesaghi was outstanding, Pavlovic had many involvements pressing the strikers high, and therefore Milan being able to regain the ball constantly.
Lecce not being present in offence is because Milan played flawless in defence. Not because Lecce is a bad team. Credit where credit is due. MOTM could be Loftus-Cheek too.
The ratings are weighted towards the new signings that the ‘journalists’ (more marketeers) have been pushing all summer, particularly if they’re foreign.
Also someone like Ricci will never be understood by these journalists because they don’t do fancy stuff. It was the same with Krunic, it’s the same with Gabbia.
Como plays Sassuolo tomorrow
Patrick Cutrone went to Parma. Think that triggered MH to move support as well.
I’ll continue to follow many former Milan players.
My love for a player does not arbitrarily stop when they’re forced out of the club and replaced with 20 different players in 10 years.
I like Ricci and want him to replace Fofana in the starting XI but with Lecce down to ten he was too conservative with the ball. It was probably part of Allegri’s plan but he needed to be more proactive. I did like the run he had into the box but he really did just recycle possession.
Fofana is playing very well. Goal on the weekend, assist tonight and overall solid performances so far. Not sure why Allegri will replace him with Ricci, who is not playing better.
How many chances has Fofana wasted? His goal was an open shot 10 yards away and his assist was more of class from Pulisic. Plus, we’ve seen Fofana all last season and he was nothing special. I rather give Ricci a real chance to see what he offers.
“Plus, we’ve seen Fofana all last season and he was nothing special. ”
Last year, 1 goal, 9 assists in all competitions in a season that was a mess under 2 different coaches.
This season already has a goal and assist.
Fofana is the starter and should continue to be the starter. He is a better player that the Italian Krunic.
Ricci in his serie A career, 130 games, 5 goals, 7 assists. Fofana in 1 year has matched his career production.
He was given a real chance today and had to be substituted at halftime vs a 10 men, basically serie B team.
Smh. Ricci played way dreier in a weaker team, and you compare Fofana and Ricci on goalscoring stats?
I think they will be good in rotation. Our midfield will not grow tired, and therefore the team wil be strong throughout the season. Support the players, and the team
You are mentally challenged. “Italian Krunic”. Something really bad happened to you, maybe mom dropped you on your head when you were a baby? And multiple times?
Wasted chances? Fofana is not a striker…He is a defensive midfielder and doing a solid job. Chances? Well Allegri picks the team for each match and he continues to prefer Fofana…what does that tell you? If you’ve watched Ricci, he has not been special, which is why he was subbed off at half time and Fofana was clearly an immediate upgrade. but hey, you are entitled to your opinion.
Some of us foreigners like the fancy stuff, like Ronaldinho, like Pirlo, Like Neymar. Ricci got what he deserved. Yes he is a good player but he needs to grow and show.

“I’ll continue to follow many former Milan players.
My love for a player does not arbitrarily stop when they’re forced out of the club …”
….so you followed Rodney Strasser all the way to Zagreb ? … Or do you arbitrarily pick and choose the former players you wish to support, since you like the word arbitrary so much. He is after all, to borrow your words, a Scudetto-winning midfielder
What about Oduamadi? Albertazzi? Diniz?
Finally milan looks like a team, defending, pressing, And scoring goals 👏 feels good just missing the loud cheers
Team is starting to look very strong, altho they did have a man advantage for a large part of the match.
Pulisic is on absolute fire right now. Good to see the new signings getting to play. Athekame looks good, De Winter very solid in the back. Nkunku with a nice goal. Rabiot has looked really good so far. Saleamakers with a nice assist. Pavlovic with the great free kick!
Maybe I was wrong about Allegri, but I will have to see how we play against the top teams. Napoli this weekend is a huge test. Let’s hope Max gets it right and doesn’t go too conservative. Leao and Pulisic up top could create serious problems for any team.
I would add one more rating here.
Camarda: 4.5
Today i read some comments writing that we killed camarda by loaning him to lecce and he would have be good with our team. One can argue he is not getting served well by a team like lecce, but his duty is also fight for the ball. And he failed hardly today. In every duel, he was easily pocketed by our defenders like nothing, and you could have even saw that tomori was using like 1/2 of his strengh and was toying with him.
This is why I think lecce is good for him, because he will get opportunities there, so he can develop and train himself in the big league.
To people arguing that we should have had kept him: Gimenez and Nkunku, both 30-40 million strikers are our third and fourth option, where would have camarda fit in such team? I would even rather sub balentien over him in the fifth place.
And lastly, please stop comparing him to yamal, that is completely different situation. Wingers get the ball into their feet and have plenty of time to do something with it. Strikers have miliseconds to battle strong CBs and find the best end for the ball. Their profile is different, and it is way thougher to be a good young striker, when you dont have the experience or strength.
You’re exactly right, it’s very hard for a young striker, much more so than a winger.
Ibra said something similar.
Being a striker in serie a is the toughest job because teams play very defensive they don’t give you enough space like in other leagues.
I think it was a great performance but we really should have won maybe with 5-7 goals as we wasn’t either lucky with all the goalpost hits or missed chances but overall a great match all around.
People will say “it was only Lecce” but not so long ago we had a lot of trouble handling the bottom-feeders. Also, in our first game against Lecce this season, we won 2-0 but it took a lot longer to get going. This team is growing. 3 goals, 4 woodwork hits, at least 4 great saves by their goalkeeper; only then and there, it’s 11 great scoring opportunities of which we took 3 into the net. Good stuff, regardless of the opponents.
Pretty much almost everybody played very well tonight.
Maignan, only needed to make one save, which was a difficult one and he did it well, so enough for a pass. 6
Pavlovic – excellent tonight. Rather perfect in defense and very much helped the offense, and almost scored a goal, too. 7.5
De Winter – looking good, poised, calm, not making mistakes. 6.5
Tomori – Good game, no mistakes, no harsh fouls, so nothing like his usual flaws. Didn’t have a lot to do but what he did need to do, he did very well. 6.5.
I’m being a bit generous with the scores for the three defenders given that they hadn’t much to do, but it was a clean sheet and they allowed only one shot on target from the opponents so, they deserve it.
Saelemaekers, co-MOTM with Rabiot. Phenomenal. Very dangerous, very disorganizing for the opponents’ defense, good crosses, and an assist. 8.
Rabiot, co-MOTM with Saelemaekers. Hit the woodwork, excellent passes, we had a 96% accuracy rate in passes and this, without Modric, and very much thanks to Rabiot. At game end he was tired and got a bit less precise but that’s normal; he’s been playing non-stop. I’d rather have subbed him out at some point to rest him for Napoli. He’s been a giant. 8.
RLC – great stuff, he is growing more and more and justifying the trust that Allegri bestows onto him. Unlucky that he didn’t score but he got really close, and was generally very positive. 7.5
Ricci – the less brilliant of the midfielders, and collected a yellow that wasn’t really necessary. I still don’t feel like he was a problem for the team so he does get a pass from me. 6
Bartesaghi – oh boy, what a game!!! With an assist too! Great stuff from the kid; his best game with the first team. He gets an 8 too and he was very close to being a co-MOTM with Alexis and Rabiot.
Gimenez – Finally a score, but did miss 3 times before he scored, so, this prevents him from earning a very high rating. Did produce a phenomenal pass that should have been an assist. Worked hard. Hopefully now that the monkey is off his back, he will keep scoring. 6.5
Nkunku – This is a very good player who will continue to grow; mark my words! Did miss a couple of easy goals, in one of them hitting the post, but then scored a golazo; also produced the play that got an opponent expelled. Still has only 60 minutes of game fitness according to Allegri. Give this guy another two or three games for better fitness and he’ll be flying. 7.
Subs
Fofana – another one who has been growing and actually shooting on target (mostly, now). Came in for Ricci and played better than Ricci which I wasn’t expecting; in previous games I was faulting Allegri for starting Fofana instead of Ricci but today the Frenchman proved me wrong. 7.
Athekame – Good stuff from the kid; handled his opportunity to start very well; actually very classy; obviously he has a future. 6.5
Odogu – s/v, I barely noticed him, but it was nice that he got to play a few minutes.
Balentien – I thought that he did mostly well. Very young kid, actually a Futuro player, but he does seem to have some qualities. 6
Pulisic – what can I say, the man is on fire! Comes in and proceeds to scoring right away. It seems like taking the summer off was enormously beneficial for Puli who is a player who is sensitive to fatigue. When not fatigued, Puli is a world-class player. 7.5
——-
Mister Allegri – Whoa. His squad plays like a team, his defense has four clean sheets in a row, the new players are gelling nicely and being very impactful, and the veteran players are improving. What a different a good head coach makes! I’d say, let’s give him an 8. In addition to Conte, he seems to be obviously the other great coach currently working in Serie A. So, people said his football was boring, huh? His Milan has been anything but boring. He is a defensive specialist but seems to be fostering a rather creative offense, too. His style looks modern and incisive, for someone who seemed to be old school.
———-
Yes, we haven’t played yet against the really big dogs, and we will have two of them in a row, Napoli and Juventus, but I am getting sort of optimistic right now, that this team and this head coach have what it takes to challenge for the Scudetto.
Sure, this will become much clearer if we beat Napoli and Juve, and maybe will look like unwarranted optimism if we lose both games, so, we’ll see. But oh boy, this AC Milan is actually looking like the team we were dreaming of, during the dreadful couple of years that just went by.
Maybe we will draw both games against Napoli and Juve. Maybe we will be good but not yet great, not yet challenging for the title. But certainly top 4 to go back to the UCL is looking much more feasible than when we had the two mediocre Portuguese coaches.
We basically had one poor game against Cremonese when not everybody had joined yet (see what difference Rabiot has made, for example) and players were still getting to know each other and the new head coach. Other than that, we’ve played well in ALL other games, and this is encouraging even though the opponents weren’t the top dogs. As recently as the last weeks of the last season, we were getting scored on a lot, and we were dropping points to lesser teams. This no longer seems to be the case. Forza Milan!
You killed it. Well ✔️
“People will say “it was only Lecce” but not so long ago we had a lot of trouble handling the bottom-feeders. Good stuff, regardless of the opponents.”
100% spot on. 👍
You can’t really evaluate a team until they play against a top team, with top players that will punish every little mistake and will be on your neck for 90 minutes. It looks promising but won’t mean anything if they lose against Napoli, Juventus and Inter.
No it won’t but we sure have lost or drawn these “easy” matches awfully lot last seasons. And you’d have to go loooooooooooong way back to have a similar clean sheet record.
That’s true.
However, you can win the games against the smaller teams and lose the big games, and STILL make Top4.
There are, let’s say, four top teams. Milan, Inter, Napoli and Juve but let’s add Roma.
That leaves 15 teams and a total of 90 points on offer.
5 of the last 7 Scudetto were 90 pts or less. The other two were 91 and 94.
Conclusion – a championship team must win the games it is supposed to.
Let’s assume we do that 80% of the time. That is 72 pts we should get.
Now we break even with the other 4 teams. That is 12 points. A total of 84. That is 2 of the last 7 Scudetto.
Third scenario… We win 90% of the games we should (81 pts) but only take 2 wins and 3 draws from the top teams. (90 pts).
It is more important to win the games we should if the Scudetto is our dream. It’s nice to be at our rivals and we certainly took it to Intern last year, but I’d much rather have the second star.
Conclusion: we are off to a good start (75% winning on games we should win) but not sufficient. Our trend (three wins three clean sheets) shows we are going in the right direction.
Further analysis can be done on goals allowed to further support we are off to a good start and trending towards a solid Scudetto fight.
Would love to take 3 from Napoli and another 3 from Juve. But in the end I’ll be happy with 3 total and more of the wins we should be getting (but have not the last few seasons)
I’ll be even more satisfied if we continue to bring the style and spirit we have so far this season.
Yes, I have been optimistic because of the midfield. People were ridiculing when I said that Rabiot is more useful than Reijnders as he plays both ways. With him and Modric it almost doesn’t matter who the 3rd player in midfield is. They both track back, defend really good, don’t let players just run past them while they are watching them and are amazing going forward.
Some people also have been insisting that WE NEED A DM!!!! while I was saying we don’t as long as the players play as a team. They don’t have to have a specific type of player next to a specific type of player. It’s all about the chemistry. We still don’t have the MF’ng DM but our defense and midfield are (seem to be) fixed. Just like I said. 🙂
Just to add the two Portuguese clowns brought nothing other than fighting players who has been saving their jobs
Nice to see some of the young lads get some minutes and doing well, a useful exercise.
Alexis was great, very happy for him.
Rabiot, I just hope he can keep it up, complete
Good to see Bartesaghi having a good game.
Allegri subbed well, bringing on young guys gradually and giving each time. to settle before bringing on the next.
A lot more considered than Pioli’s sub mayhem
It.s positive so far but we really need to wait and see how we fair against much better opposition
I couldn’t watch the game as it’s not on BeinSport but it looked like a really solid performance and win.
Allegri is arguably the best coach in Serie A. He’s the most successful (one Scudetto ahead of Conte who also has a Premier League title (we won’t count Serie B or C1 titles or the other random cups).
I’m so glad the club went with Allegri over Conte. I really don’t understand the issue people have with his football. It seems people are emptying it more than last season’s….
The formation works particularly the midfield and front ‘two’.
The two runners either side of a holding midfielder, and the deeper attacking player alongside a CF works really well.
When Leao returns they could go with Leao and Pulisic upfront.
I feel Bartesaghi is in good hands with Allegri. He was the one who introduced De Sciglio and Cristante. He also developed youth at Juve.
I see Fofana popped up with an assist but RLC does feel like the more complete player.
All in all it’s looking very positive. I’m not at ‘we’ yet. But it’s getting there.
6 for de winter is low, I think 6.5, camaraderie couldn’t do one thing he shut him down every time. Bartesaghi wasn’t a 6.5, a 6 is reasonable, other than that assist, he was only okay going forward. I dont even think i saw him defending, it was povlovic and de winter that would clean up anything on his side.
Finally we can see young and bench players getting chance, something we rarely see since Pioli Era. Hopefully Torriani will get his chance too
Great result. Good seeing Bartesaghi and Ricci get a run out. Ricci may not have staked his claim tonight, but he has potential, and Milan will need strong players coming off the bench.
Great win. I don’t want to jump the gun, so I’ll wait until after the Napoli/Juve games to confirm certain aspects of the game I’m seeing, some very good things.
That said, I’d say either Salad or Rabiot for motm. Salad was good in both phases, he might be our “Cuadrado ” as Allegri liked him alot and was key in Juve’s attack in that good period. Rabiot dictated the whole match. He kept the tempo well. It’s good to finally see a midfield player who knows how to drop deep and occupy the center back position temporarily without fear of something happening, and not to mention distribute the ball well.
Glad Giminez got his goal, great for confidence and Nkunku, though he still looks unfit, did well. If we get back Redbull Nkunku that would be good lol 😅. That version was a beast. I liked the structure and organization the team even though we’re plugging holes. But most of all I like how we defend.
On to the same next one, a big one! 😁
Oh for Ricci, I guess his yellow in the first half conditioned his minutes. But he was good in the first half
It was a great team performance. Pushed hard from the first minute.
Lots of chances.
Everyone contributed.
Team spirit seems high.
Gave them very few chances in attack.
Some squad rotation achieved. Perhaps one or two more players could have been rotated. Given an already weak Lecce side rotated 10 players. Effectively conceding before a ball had even been kicked.
E.g. why did Mike play? Perhaps they wanted test if he is okay for Napoli.
Tomori and Saelemaekers could have done with some rest
on the Pulisic goal. Santi gets an assist. it touched his head
You must give Saladmaker more than 7 just for the two crosses you mention, one with left, one with right foot ;).
Rabiot has slotted just perfectly into our midfield, that’s what I call an excellent signing!
And Saelemaekers — it’s been such a joy watching him. The way he’s improved is incredible, he’s become absolutely vital for us.
He hasn’t ‘improved’. He’s the exact same player the club wasted years and millions loaning out and swapping in alternatives, and if anything he’s probably had his development stinted by all of the pointless transfers and loans.
He HAS improved.
Just because he doesn’t fit the rule that you made that loaning players never do them any favour doesn’t mean he didn’t improve.
I don’t know if you can’t see that he has improved, or you just want to pretend that he didn’t.
“He hasn’t ‘improved’. He’s the exact same player the club wasted years and millions loaning out and swapping in alternatives”
LOL!!!!!!!!! If you can’t see his massive leap forward you must be either blind or don’t understand football at all. He isn’t “the exact same player” than the last time he played for this shirt. Only the name is the same but everything else has changed. His confidence, crosses, challenges, defending, passing… Everything has improved. If you can’t see that… Well… Too bad for you then. 😀 😀 😀
Not really. Stats disprove what you are saying. The problem with Saelemakers before was the system we had and his role in it. That is it. He moved to Roma and he was this player for them. You think that the moment he moved to Roma some deity transferred something into his brain and he improved after that? 😀
So you’re saying his passes, crosses, 1vs1-challenges etc have only improved because he was playing with midfield of 3 instead of 5 and it has nothing to do with him being older, more experienced and completely player? LOL!!! Yeah, people over 20 never improve, right? Then why do people talk about Musah’s POTENTIAL? It’s not like players would improve when they gain more experience and age, right? FFS… 😀 😀 😀
And do show me the disproving stats, please. 🙂
He didn’t see anything special in Reijnders either. I question his eye for talent.
And I can barely wait for Jashari’s return and, of course, Rafa.
The article clearly shows a bias towards Fofana, as Sempre Milan’s podcast reflects this opinion. This is likely why Ricci received a 5.5 rating, pushing the narrative that Fofana is superior.
Forget the article, watch the matches and you will see for yourself. Fofana is playing very very well. He was an instant upgrade as soon as he came on for Ricci. watch the past few matches and I’m sure you will see for yourself.
The goal means little, gimenez is still not good enough. The way he took the ball after the foul and Nkunku as if “Let me finish the chance for you” and still missed 😭
Hate him all you want but now that he has his season opener, he’ll exploit the next similar chance when it comes. It’s all about the confidence.
It’s been quite a start under Allegri. The team is performing even better then expected, with quality and self assured performances from all the players, new and old.
Napoli and Juve will test this new Milan but it looks very promising indeed!
Gimenez is probably the unluckiest player in Serie A, he finally scored after many posts , big misses and just about everything you can do as a centre forward except score! He is always available though and his link up play has improved too. I hope the goals finally come for him.
Ricci got yellow because Tomori misplaced the pass. If you watch Ricci’s position in the middle he was always surounded by 3 or 4 Lecce players. This was done tactically by Di Francesco in order to isolate our regista and cut him off from creating anything, hence why Ricci drifted out wide.
Overall a solid display from the lads, glad they started the match with strong pressing and did not just sit back. Saele is fast becoming a pivotal players in Allegri’s system and I’m really glad he’s proving his haters wrong.
Nobody is talking about how they said allegri is no good for Milan and his football is boring and only thing he’s concern about is defending.
This is a Milan team that plays better without their stars and dominate. No Rafa no puli and we dominate games and play well.
Not relying on any player.
With this allegri we so much criticized from the beginning. I’m more confident of Milan winning matches comfortably without our stars
We are more a team now than any other year I’ve seen Milan.
Above all.. our second team looks way better than Milan first team of last season.
Allegri is Milan new star ⭐️
He has brought back the pride in Milan. And every player is sweating for the shirt by the minute.
This is a Milan team that if you are given an opportunity to play and miss it you might now get another cause there are many good players waiting to seize that chance.
We have now more than one good players. And our old players seems to be getting better due to them..
God bless tare and allegri
😊👍👍
Without Modric and/or Rabiot this team wouldn’t do that good. We are still reliable on a few players, just not on attackers anymore. It is 2 midfield players now. But that is why you bring a proper manager and not someone like Fonseca. To manage it. If Allegri wasn’t at Milan Rabiot would never join. Furlani would say the same thing that clowns here did, how he is unprofessional etc. This is the difference between a manager and a coach like Fonseca. He takes responsibility and that also means saying you need to sign this player for me and of course if they fail take the blame.
Oh patience grasshopper lol
Early days still. It’s still Allergic… Iykyk
Let’s get past the two proper teams next before we crown the next coming
It seems that nobody noticed that our opponents were playing with a man less.
that wasn’t our fault, was it… the team is gradually getting better.
Let’s watch against Napoli, and i am sure the result will be positive for us
All 3 goals coming from crosses. Something Theo and Leao had been avoiding past seasons. If you dnt cross the ball, your striker cannot score.
Leao avoiding crosses? What? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
90% of what Leao does is go past a player and cross. Literally.
I can well understand the euphoria after the Lecce win but what was the team doing in the first half?
A major part of the half consisted of the three defenders passing between each other. Why? The few times they passed the ball to Alexis (MOTM in my opinion) something happened in the attack . This kind of boring, meaningless sideplay is so frustrating. It never happens among top teams in the Premier League. Why in Milan?
Bro, we won 3-0 and avoided injuries and suspensions, that’s the most important thing.
Would it be prettier if they won 5-0 or 6-0 ?
Sure, but can you really blame players for not attacking AFTER the game was already in the pocket ?
Giga, I’m talking about the first half. The game was not in the pocket. Thankfully it got better in the second.
Man, did you watch any football game in the past 10 years? Most of the game the defenders pass to each other, waiting for an opening to pass forward. This is 90% of football today, from Bolivia to China.
How good is Rabiot? With him and Modric in midfield we can actually win the Scudetto.
I remember how much we struggled playing against 10 men when Pioli was in charge. We could beat Juve and Inter but always struggled to win a 11×10 game for some reason. Happily, it’s not a thing anymore.
Mind you that Tomori made 4-5 bad passes, which one of them resulting in ricci’s foul. It was Tomori who should get a 5.5, and ricci is clearly deserve more
The real question is, how does Leao now fit into this team and in what role?
Yep, legit q.
I think he’s going to play as a support striker. Maybe not like how Nkunku played but maybe shift slightly out wide and come in (his best traits). But yea interesting to see what happens now (in a good way ofc, as we seem to have legit options for attack)
We move to a 541 in defense.
Leao will be at the top primed for a counter.
Pulisic, Nkunku, Saelemakers already show they are clever and quick enough to get out in support.
If the counter is contained, we’ve seen the team reset and break down a low block with good ball movement and off-the-ball runs.
Leao makes the sharp end of a pointy stick and actual spear point
Please.. on Leao. He’s a low iq rhythm killer.
Just keep Leao out of the formation when he comes back. Don’t break what is now working.
I agree completely with the ratings, however I think the highlights for Pavlovic are found in his defensive skills. He’s becoming a pretty fantastic player!
Santi reminds me a little bit of Rebic. Rebic was great when he was working hard. But once he started to see reduced minutes, he really went off rails. As long as Santi is working hard, I will cheer him onward. Forwards will go through dry spells. How they respond, that is what makes the biggest difference. Congrats to Santi!
I don’t think that the author of this article knows what “off the mark” means.
Folks, Milan won the match. Everyone played well. That’s really all that matters.
I’ve watched this forum for over a year.
Over 90 comments and no “American Hate” or “owners must sell” or “terrible Mercato” or “where is Reinjders” or “you shot my dog”.
Amazing what winning cures eh? SMH.
Forza Milan.
Oh yeah, in a nod to Maldini’s Hare, no “there was only one Italian on the field so I am taking my fandom elsewhere” or the more general “we need more Italians b/x the team lacks soul”
With nothing to moan about, how about a few more hot takes on developing tactics and rotations? What piece do we need in the winter Mercato? How is Rafa reintegrated since he will not be fit?
