Milan players celebrate vs. Roma

Player Ratings: AC Milan 3-1 Roma – Abraham finally delivers; debutants impress

AC Milan advanced to the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia thanks to a 3-1 win against Roma on Wednesday evening. Tammy Abraham bagged a brace, while the debutants impressed off the bench. Below are the player ratings for the Rossoneri.

If you haven’t already, make sure to check out how we decide the player ratings. From the scale to what affects the rating, we have compiled everything there.

Starting XI

Maignan (6): The Frenchman had a dodgy moment in the first half as a shot nearly slipped through his hands, but he also made a few more good saves to make up for that. He had a really poor giveaway in the second half but fortunately it didn’t lead to anything. Overall, just about a pass for him.

Walker (6): It was solid defending throughout the game from the Englishman, even if he got the deflection on the goal conceded. He also showed his ability to be a threat in attack, hitting the crossbar with a header and picking up a good position in the box on one occasion.

Tomori (7.5): He made two crucial blocks in front of goal just in the first half, along with several good interventions further up the pitch. He continued to have a lot of confidence in the second half and it looks like he’s returning to ‘prime Tomori’.

Pavlovic (6.5): The Serbian was a bit too rash on the goal conceded, deciding to follow Saelemaekers (I believe it was anyway) rather than dropping down to his position. That being said, he was very good with his passing and dared to go forward when needed, in addition to mostly good defending.

Hernandez (7): When you end a game with two assists, it means you clearly did something right. Yes, he missed the counter-attack that Jimenez so brilliantly set up, but he made up for that with the assists and other good combinations in attack.

Musah (6.5): We saw positive indications at the start of this game and he then got everything right with the pass for Theo on the second goal. Inch-perfect, with his weaker foot as well, to completely open up Roma’s defence. He remained composed in the second half, which was nice to see, and he certainly kept his cool.

Fofana (5.5): After sitting out the derby, you would have expected a bit more energy but he was rather quiet in the first half, also wasting possession a few times. On the goal conceded, he dropped down to cover for Pavlovic but then failed to pick up Dovbyk, although the deflection made things difficult. Either way, he struggled with the duels in midfield and that is unusual for him. Certainly not the best Fofana.

Reijnders (6.5): He glided past the Roma defenders several times tonight and was important in keeping Milan somewhat balanced throughout the game. It was also the Dutchman that forced forced Svilar to a save just before the first goal (the rebound went to Theo who found Abraham). The own-goal, later disallowed, was very unlucky indeed.

Jimenez (6.5): The youngster created a counter-attack all on his own in the first half, using his fantastic acceleration, and Theo really should have done better with the pass. He also managed to win several 1v1s and continued to show great confidence. However, there were a few more mistakes in the second half, which is natural for a player of his age.

Abraham (7.5 – MOTM): It’s quite ironic that as soon as Milan have their new ‘No.9’ in place, he finds the back of the net with two great goals. The first one was stunning thanks to a very high jump, picking out the bottom corner with his head. The second was easier, but he still made the run and found the back of the net. It unlocked the game for the Rossoneri, so a worthy MOTM tonight.

Pulisic (6): He wasn’t quite feeling it tonight, even if he had some good moments in the ball. There was one really good cross which nearly ended up at the feet of Jimenez, but the Roma defender cleared it at the last second. Anyway, it was right to take him off given the hectic schedule.

Substitutes

Joao Felix (7): Talk about a fantastic debut! He showed his ability on the ball with some good drilling and then managed to find the back of the net. He was left 1v1 with the keeper and simply dinked it over him, which was great to see.

Gimenez (6.5): While he didn’t get a goal, it was a great debut for him as well as he bagged the assist for Joao Felix. The pass was timed to perfection and the Mexican also showed promising signs aside from that.

Leao (6): Similarly to Pulisic, some good moments and intentions but not quite the final product tonight.

Sottil (N/A): We didn’t see enough to give him a rating.

  1. To think I will finally watch us playing something that can be called football.
For once, we played well and the result followed and this is actually the first time where we had a comfortable lead at some point and we ended with a 2 goals lead. I hope this is not just a fluke due to Roma’s playing style but the debut of us actually playing well and winning.
Conceição: No complains, his tactics worked, the team looked fluid and his subs also helped well.
Maignan: Very shaky tonight, made a lot of silly mistakes that could have cost us badly but made one or 2 good saves. It seems that he always needs to have these games where his focus isn’t there.
Walker: I felt that at some point Roma’s players caused him trouble and their goal was a bit of a deflection from him, but overall, he was good and you can see how much of an upgrade he actually is in both phases. His game reading is top notch.
Pavlović: Great game tonight. He is confirming from game to game that he is good.
Tomori: simply HUGE tonight. Made many life saving tackles, was pacy, on alert and fewer mistakes than usual. Is this the comeback of 21/22 Tomori? In any case for next summer DON’T TOUCH THE DEFENSE.
Théo: Did he have a beef with one of the players we left this winter? This is his SECOND good game in a row this season. Made no mistakes defensively, and was crucial offensively. I criticized him often, I don’t know what will happen, but he should be complimented tonight.
Fofana: Overall ok and at some point, made a great long ball but I felt that was beaten a bit too easily sometimes.
Musah: Great energy tonight and good game, which by his standards mean a lot of running with no quality shot or pass.
Reijnders: The first goal came a bit from him so nice job.
Pulisic: Not his best game but he provided a lot of good opportunities for his teammates. So overall, good game by every standard.
Jimenez: HUGE game tonight. Was efficient, fast, generous, helped in both phases. I hope we can keep him from being taken back by Real Madrid.
Abraham: Did what a striker had to do and was crucial to the win. For once, his finishing was on point.
Giménez & Félix: I don’t want to comment on players in their first games, so I’ll just say good first impression and I liked what I saw.
Leão: When he came in, we were already comfortably ahead, so not crucial but not bad either.
Sottil: Didn’t play long enough for me to comment.

    1. Musah needs to get some game time with the futuro. His late decisions and trying to dribble delays with imperfections and loses the all quiet often and at a position for opponents to counter attack.

        1. Bondo has potential; he is young and needs some good coaching to fulfill it. Sergio should start him vs bottom table teams to get experience without too much pressure.

    2. Fair report.

I think Jimenez is a real Gem.
Thought Musah was pretty poor, second half anyway – constantly giving the ball away.
Unfortunately we had zero midfielders on the bench, which will be the same in CL, so that is a disater waiting to happen. No fresh legs to introduce

As yo say positive impression of the new guys Joao and Alexi.
But Felix was a 50m player in summer so you expect that and we won’t be able to buy him whatever happens.
Sottil – I’d rather have Okafor

Walker solid in defence, not overly involved in attack.
Tomori was excellent as you say, leave it alone. I spent all summer saying don’t sell Kalulu and Thiaw and all January, don’t sell Tomori.
These guys are good defenders, they need a midfield in front of them and walker is far better than Emerson

      1. Sottil literally played 5 minutes and you are throwing judgement at him

but what else can we expect from this toxic blog where you all just cant wait for signings to fail so you can ‘gotcha’ the management again

      2. Don’t think about the summer just yet, I am hearing some news about the ownership changing hands in June.

In any case it was stipulated that Milan told Joao that they are going to work on bringing him to Milan on a permanent transfer in the summer. Chelsea it seems brought him in so that Atletico had the money to bring Conner Gallagher from Chelsea and as such Joao Felix wasn’t a player they wanted.

Since financially Conner Gallagher came from the youth system from Chelsea it is seen as pure profit and with Chelsea needing that to be shown in the books they probably paid for Joao in order for Atletico to have the money to pay for Conner. Chelsea has a wizard in the finance department because they are finding loop holes to sign a ton of players and not use them.

They have a ton of attackers who are ahead of Felix and he needs consistency and at Milan that is possible. Milan cannot pay 54 Mils for anyone but there is a way to pay a lower fee if they want to clear some space in their team.

        1. We could try 10M loan with obligation set at 20-25M + 10-15% resale… with this they would get over 40M, including this window loan fee…

as you said Felix was to balance their books and he already pushed himself to Milan… I think if he performs, we gonna keep him.

      3. Sottil didn’t have much of an impact because he barely played anytime at all. Okafor was always injured. I’ll take Sottil because at least he’s available. Get a grip man…

Moncada said we could very well get Felix if he makes an impression here.

        1. But Moncada won’t be holding the cards. We have no option. Ultimately we could be showcasing him for Chelsea to sell to a high bidder. I hope not

          1. No but Chelsea have to accept a bid and if clubs come in with higher bids they don’t have to accept ours…he’s got a 7 quid contract with them and only a year into it……

          2. I think it depend on how we do and if we keep Sergio Conceicao, since Jorge Mendes is agent of both him and Felix and worked hard to ship him here, but we all know super agents like Mendes

          3. Yeah but everybody forgets who his manager is. When Mendes wants something for his clients he usually gets it. So it will depend more on the will of the player

          4. I don’t understand these people who say Chelsea hold all the cards – ultimately it is up to Felix where he wants to go and whether he pushes through a move…look at Origi – if it was up to the club only do you think he would still be here!

      4. Tottaly agree with last comment…this defence is great reallY..our midfield is problem..they alowed oponents too much space and thats way our defence is so many times on presurre during game..

        1. That’s exactly what I said some time ago, on that Parma game. The midfield isn’t good enough, and the forwards sometimes doesn’t press well enough.

Recall that defence starts from the forwards.

    3. Musah actually made a good pass before the second goal. It was surprising to see him make a good pass. No it vouldn’t have been him. I must have seen wrong.

      1. Musah was involved in all 3 goals. The play he made to create the 2nd goal was incredible, but he had the pass before the third goal as well. He had the pass to reijnders shot that turned into the third from the left wing. How are people surprised to see him make good passes. He fits this system really well and is making the plays usually reserved for reijnders right now

  2. What a time for you show up Tammy. Give him his flowers tonight. The midfield is still sus, we all now so I’ll stop pressing it since the window is closed. Nice to see the new boys come on.

The thing to watch is the balance with João and Pulisic. These two have similar profiles and do similar things. Pulisic is gases and needs a break. Leão must have a knock because is dribbling is off and to needs a break too.

It will be interesting to see how Conceição uses these players.

  3. This is the first good/complete performance under Conceicao. Something to be hopeful about.
Tomori has been absolutely brilliant the last 2 matches. Pavlovic with another strong game. I’m quite happy with the 4 CB’s we have at the moment. Comfortable with any of them starting.
Felix looked good in his first start.
I was a little underwhelmed with Giminez as he had some good opportunities but seemed a bit clumsy on the ball , getting it caught under his feet a few times, but he did have an assist.

Isak forgetting about Pulisic’s cross in the first half that was right on Tomori’s head in the first half that shouldv’e been a goal. But no surprise there , he’s always underrating Puli.

  4. We played well in general and Roma wasn’t exactly a push over. I only didn’t like Musah, too much bad passing. Joa Felix a big upgrade at AM. Not just cause of the goal but the way he was spreading the game with his vision and thru passes. To bad its not a permanent buy. Gimenez was good too but he strugled a bit with the physicality of Roma’s defenders. Hope he gets stronger so that won’t be a problem for him cause in Seria A most defenders play like that.

  5. Geminez
    Leao Felix puli
Reindeer Fofana Bondo or anyone but Musah
    Then same back 4
now you have a team that can hold possession even in the tightest of places, this would cook

  6. Fofana must have had a sub 25% pass completion rate tonight. Im still not sold on him. Was disappointed not to see

    Leao Santi Puli
    Félix
Overall- glad for Tammy and the debuts for Santi and João.
    Forza Milan

    1. Those guys are tired. Only guy in there who is worrying is Musah and his decision making. Tijji and Fofana need a proper break. They’ve played the season well. 32 games played this season for Fofana so far, his defensive work is good and bagged 1 goal and 6 assists, to have 32 games under the belt in February is insane. Same goes for Tijji, 33 games played, 11 goals and 3 assists. A reminder that we’re only in February. Last season we ran Pulisic ragged for 50 games.

  7. Best game under Conceição so far. Outside of 10-15 minutes in the middle of the 1st half when Milan was pinned back, Milan controlled the game.
Conceição needs to work with players on clearing the ball instead of attempting risky passes or carrying the ball. Vs Inter Jimenez failure to clear the ball led their goal, today it was Pavlovic.
Pavlovic and Tomori looked great again.
    Theo was great going forward.
Surprise, Surprise, if a striker gets service the striker will score goals. Great game by Tammy, especially on the 1st goal. For those that keep a record, he is on 8g and 5a this season as a backup striker on loan. On pace to have 20+ goal contributions, but supposedly he was a bad signing.
Impressed with Joao Felix debut even if he didn’t score. Gimenez was good.
Too bad Reijnders didn’t get some rest. BTW great header on that own goal.
On the side note, watching Kone play for Roma it’s a shame Milan didn’t get rid of that deadwood Bennacer in the summer and sign Kone. He would have been great next to Fofana.
The team showed improvements today, hopefully they continue to get better and finish the season strong.

      1. Oh boy.
Follow the context and stop acting like you are tghe comment police.
Even without the goal i was impressed with his performance.

        1. I didn’t understand either. What you meant was that he was good regardless of if he would have scored or not.

I completely agree. He shows how to handle a ball, and seems to have great awareness of the game. I hope he hets to play a lot. Weirdly enogh it feels like we have too many good players now. But maybe thats just the feeling before we learn who is crap or not crap.

  8. Besides of a few situations here and there I think we played a pretty great match for the majority of the match. Yes they hit the post and Tomori saved us with his block but overall i felt we had fairly good control over the match throughout the match except maybe in the early 30ies minutes and early on in the second half leading up to their goal.
Hopefully we will move forward as this and further improve and we certainly seem to have more strings to play on now from the looks of it.

      1. Of course they isn’t a bad team even if they have had a lacklustre season so yeah it is expected that they will have their chances as well. They did start with some of their starters on the bench but overall I think we mostly had their players under control so I’m very much pleased about tonights performance. Hopefully we will be able to find some more consistency in our upcoming Serie A performances as we on paper at least have a bunch of fairly “soft” matches.

  9. Focus was at 98,9 % (Theos focus was on 100% between quasi assist of Jimenez untill free kick)
Huge Gimenez sub, just wonder is it possible both with Tammy attacking.
Defence was invincible 99% . Theo was on

    Welcome newcomers – Forza Milan

  10. Jeminez and Musah can dribble good, but always end up putting the team in a dire situation and their dribbling seldom amounts to anything always making the wrong decisions after incredible dribbling, they broke down a lot of attacks today imo

    1. Watch the second goal again…I think the dribble and pass to Theo was a good and hard pass. He pulled in 5 defenders and then bypassed their entire defense with the pass to Theo.

  11. It is Joao Felix’ habit to make great debuts. He did so at Atletico, Barcelona and Chelsea, to then fade away.
Of course, he can do well at Milan, but only time will tell.

      1. You will really say “lmao” when Felix loses steam as at any other previous team. 😉 Not that I wish him bad luck, but hey that’s his habit.

    1. You’re right. He did fizzle out at Athletico and Chelsea. Consistency has been an issue for him. Hopefully Conceicao gets the best out of him.

  12. Good team performance with a lot of quality. You can see the subs added really quality to the team, walker has a calming presence at the back Happy for Abraham, has got a lot of stick with his finishing this season. We just got to show some consistency from now on and turn it on against the smaller teams in the league

  13. Those in the middle are tired.

  14. I pretty much echo the ratings – we looked comfortable practically the whole game which was nice for a change – and love the immediate impact from the new signings.. It’s early days but I’d be worried if I was a Juventus fan aiming for top 4 with that sh!tshow of a mercato while we got Felix and Gimenez…

    1. I thought Juve had a decent Window. Their backline is plagued by injuries and they brought in several players to help. Just think Bremer ACL early in the season, Juan Cabal ACL out for season, Cambiaso ankle problem still not right, even Kalulu pulled a hamstring. Best CB in the league out and both first choice FBs out many weeks and still better than us.

  15. The only thing that can stop this team right now is the players themselves, overall the squad now has depth.
I felt the coach should have taken Reindjers and Fofana off and introduced Bondo and maybe Terrachano. Those guys need rest, Musa is doing a lot of running he needs to be managed too.

A great game of football tonight and a great win.

      1. I pray he’s an upgrade on Musah. Fofana and Warren in midfield will make it more solid behind Reijnders/Felix, in theory.

          1. Okay, I know he has citizenship in the u.s. but Americans don’t look at him as an American. So he doesn’t have a strong fan base here.

His accent his english by the way and that says it all.

        1. I hope so too but what I know about Bondo is that we also had him scouted even back under the old management and think he scored a goal against us in a match against Monza but besides of that my knowledge about him is not really the greatest to be honest. Milan did need a destroyer dm’esque player as Frendrup in my view. Not really sure Bondo is that type of player though but I hope he can give us some defensive solidity as it really has been an issue this season.

          1. The problem I see is the lack of solidity and options in midfield.

If we play 433 we only have Tiji, Fofana, Musah and RLC for CL
If we play 442, we are expecting Leao to defend? or drop him?
Perhaps the plan is to trade Leao-Felix in the summer
Also in 442 is Tiji in the CM, because that leaves a very weak middle or is Tiji dropped?
No matter what management do I cannot see a solution.
Like evryone I’m excited to see new forwards (thats why we all watch football) but once the new shine is gone and we have no midfield, I fear we will be in trouble in CL especially

          2. “If we play 433 we only have Tiji, Fofana, Musah and RLC for CL
If we play 442, we are expecting Leao to defend? or drop him?”

I really don’t understand this logic. There’s actually one more man in the midfield with 4-4-2. So… If Leao isn’t defending at all, we still have the 3 men in midfield. It’s not like he cancels one man out, now is it? So he would be standing a couple of meters lower on the pitch than normally. That’s about it. Doesn’t change much how the team plays (defensively) or make the team more vulnerable. Right?

But when we attack, the 2-man-forward-line means there’s actually two threats inside the box. And if you have seen Felix play, he’s NOT static. He will move a lot and ALSO act as a #10 (which we had with 4-2-3-1). So the 4-4-2 is more of a hybrid with him.

Milan would do well with 4-4-2. It would also benefit ALL the strikers we have.

          3. @bb:
In a 4-3-3, the midfield+attack will look a bit like this:
            Leão——–Giménez———-Pulisic
            Reijnders–Fofana–Musah/Bondo
While in a 4-4-2 the midfield+attack will look a bit like this:
            ————-Félix——–Giménez———–
            Leão—-Reijnders—Fofana——-Pulisic
So we will essentially trade Bondo/Musah for a more offensive player in Félix.
The 4-4-2 generally relies on 2 doubles pivots who can defend but also create (think of Carrick and Scholes in the 2007/08 Manchester United). Fofana can defend but his creativity isn’t exactly stellar and Reijnders does go forward a lot but his defense isn’t exactly stellar.
Winger wise Leão isn’t exactly good at defending while Pulisic is helpful (but that means more defensive duties). So that means a lot of pressure on Fofana.
I guess Félix is going to be the X factor here. How much he drops and helps pressing, defending and disturbing opposition’s play is going to be crucial to a 4-4-2.
Another idea is unfortunately to drop Reijnders and have Fofana–Bondo as the double pivot pairing, but I’m not sure about this one.
The 4-4-2 with Reijnders and Fofana as a double pairing did work against Inter in the first derby which was the most aesthetic of the 3 derbies we had, but Fonseca never relied on it ever since.
But again, that’s just my take on it, we will have to wait and see.

  16. It’s one game and we shouldn’t get carried away. But on paper, we might just have the best starting 11 in serie a. And finally we have depth! Subs that can actually matter. If Felix and Gimenez continue like this, we’re a real force to be reckoned with. Kudos to Tammy on the lovely brace, great game by him, and in general everyone else.

  17. I think it’s fair to say that we have 100% upgraded this team this mercato, although still not perfect.

Walker is night and day. I don’t care what anyone says and yes walker hasn’t been standout or flashy but he’s doing his job perfectly. He’s defensively sound, I loved his cushioned header back to maignan and he’s got great passing, and attacking. But the most important thing is his experience he brings and how he leads the defence. He’s so calm and positioned so well.

Tomori and pavlovic have been solid. Tomori I don’t know if it’s because he has walker in xt to him but these past couple of games he looks reborn and the tomori we loved. Keep it up! Pavlovic too is just great defensively and how he steps in to break up play and continue his run is great. For once, I’m happy with all 4 cbs because they’ve been playing well.

This was theos best game for awhile and can only hope it builds his confidence.

The midfield is where we struggle the most so hopefully Ricci does come this summer but they were ok. I think fofana and reijnders need some rest.

Jimenez had some good runs and I like how the attack is constantly moving. Abraham finally looked like a good goal scorer after we buy a goal scorer. But I don’t know if it was the excitement of being able to bring on some players but Joao felix looked really good in that attacking mid position. Something we’ve been missing for a long time and if he can keep that up I don’t care how much we need to buy him from Chelsea. Even gimenez came up with a nice assist and some of his touches were heavy but that’s expected from a poacher. I wanted to see him in good positions in the box and to finish before I can judge him but it was definitely a nice assist. We finally have depth and seeing these type of players coming off the bench was great.

I truly hope this is the start of conceicao era and his work is finally baring fruit. They looked good and comfortable today and we all know with milan the inconsistencies so hopefully this is the start or turning the season around!

    1. Hopefully Warren B is a better all around version of Musah. I’d love for the American to go out on loan for a season or two to polish the rough edges.

He takes two steps forward then one step back. Or vice versa depending on the game.

  18. 442 has potential to be the new base formation. It all depends on leao tbh. Then we don’t need to worry about that third midfielder and it gives us some more rotation options in the mid. I like the look of gimenez Felix puli and leao all attacking together and puli and Felix getting in close to create with Tiji is a tantalizing prospect.

  19. I thought this was one of the most complete games Milan has played. Good movement. Great pressing, and really strong take ons by our CBs breaking up counters. I also think our defense is so much smarter with Walker out there.
I do not find it a coincidence it was a game where laeo started on the bench. He has more talent than anyone on the team but Pulisic and Jimenez made run after run and tracked back and played real defense. In Laeo’s 15 minutes I still saw him constantly be the last man back on defense. I just don’t get it? It’s like there is something wrong with his wiring, where he must consciously make an effort to try hard.

  20. The team finally has balance with Walker on the right. In theory, this should allow Theo to be himself again.

Our two new signing are so exciting and are both technical. Gimenez is not afraid to take his man on which feels so good to see.

  21. Good game to build upon after the Inter game. I liked the structure of the defence. Always say once the defence is sorted the rest can come into place. I liked esp that everyone defended and as a team. The passing between the lines early in the first half was nice to see. We’re trying to move the ball quicker which is good.
Roma was aggressive early but we dealt with it.
Some of our passing are riskier so when they don’t come off it looks silly and when it does the offense just opens up..don’t know what to make of it but prefer less risky and a system based approach to me for offense. Nonetheless big improvement and it seems the team is starting to take shape.

Tomori is on Scudetto level, very nice to see. Pav is also getting better. Walker is such a good addition, his reading of the game is very good and I like how he is marshalling the backline. That’s solid experience and leadership…comes with the numerous titles he’s had in his career.
The midfield is still the problem. I hope we won’t regret not getting a proper DM once more but Deers is being asked to play less to his strengths and to defend more which he’s not good at. Musah is very slowly growing on me, I feel he can create havoc if he had better football IQ. He can dribble out of presses so upfield it’s not a bad risk to take. The problem is when he does it too close to goal.
New boys gave a good first impression so great to see.
Small things….Felix and Theo link up was nice (Theo loves wingers who are on his wavelength attacking wise).
Overall something good to build on and I hope we play more along this way from now on.

    1. We went from Gabbia/Thiaw partnership to Tomori/Pavlo. If they all maintain form our defense will be that much better for it.

      1. I pray that they do. Defence is taking shape once more. We got solid options at the back.
The midfield is where I worry about.

        1. Midfield is an issue. Hopefully Bondo is a reinforcement. But I’m more worried about the lack of balance if Conceicao Fields Leao Santi Puli AND Felix …

Midfield of two will be overrun in transition. Unless Fofana and Bondo are solid enough to contain it.

And also what does it mean for Reijnders? He’s bee the top scorer so far because he plays close to the forward. You put Felix there and push the Dutchman back and probably takes a toll on his goalscoring … I don’t know.

  22. The attack feels like that January we’ve brought Cassano the bastad joining Pato Ibra Inzaghi Robinho etc. Exciting attack! That was a good team performance. Would be a nice start if they aee to keep it up of course.

  23. It’s a cup game. Some of you also got carried away last month after 2 other cup games. If we don’t get 3 points at the weekend, this means nothing. We also conceded a goal.

  24. I watched from the 2nd goal onwards, excellent game from Milan. I would of loved to see Jiminez get his first goal from that Puli cross, but not meant to be. Joao Felix and Giminez gota goal and assist. Tammy got 2 goals an Theo 2 assists. Pavlovic great, and Tomori solid. I still dislike Walker as a person, but I can’t say he’s a bad footballer. Sottil didn’t’t get a single touch, but glad he’s Italian. 0 Italians in the starting lineup. Conceciao pushing our best defender to the bench sucks, but Tomori and Pavlovic and been good the last few games, but Gabbia deserves a secure starting spot. Goretzka and Ricci would give depth to our midfield, those two, along with bringing Adli back (Highly unlikely) would make our midfield complete and we could push for silverware. We still need more midfield depth, Fofana and Reijnders need rest.

  25. I watched the whole game from live streaming. This has been one of the best games for Milan so far this season. The defense was very solid, team pressing well. But our attacking still lacked fluidity, most passes were lame; line breaking runs were few and not trusted.

Debut from Joao and Santiago were exciting. Joao combines well with our midfields, Santiago looked dangerous upfront. It seems that our goal this season still a hopeful.

  26. Good game. Pav and Tomori are balling out the last couple games. Walker is such a big upgrade. I thought Théo was bad today but made up for it with the assists. Tammy finally finished his chances. Puli got a rest. Gotta win against Empoli to keep this momentum going.

  27. While its easy to get excited the first game with the new signings, its fair to note that Felix has always started well at clubs. His problem has always been his consistency, or lack thereof I should say. I hope he can stay consistent in his time here. Certainly he has the supporting cast to make it work.

As does Santi, but of course he has more time. I hope this is something we build on for more potent attack.

We’re still making mistakes at the back though. Offside aside, Roma could have clawed their way back in if the second goal stood. Conceicao has to make this a priority.

  28. Wondering why we got Felix on dry loan without option. I guess Milan wants to use the will of d player to pin in down in Milan if he performs well

  29. I’ll stop believing whatever this page postm they are clearly bias in their ratings.

To me pavlovic did better than 6.5
And notice how opponent attack less when walker is at right back.

Almost all the attack came through theos wing.

And finally there’s a little balance in this team.

The little depth and quality is amazing. If they could ad two more quality. For theos wing and hopefully get Ricci with Bondo here already. And keep Felix. I don’t think we’ll need any more players

  30. Tammy do not want to go back to Roma…
    Sales… wants to be back.
Pavlovic needs a test for “adrenaline rush” 😂
Musah needs some game time with the futuro to sharpen his decisions.
    Forza Milan

    1. If Tammy want to be a 3rd choice striker no problem we can sign him next season can’t deal with mediocre players or he goes somewhere else as for musah I like his strength but he needs to apply it with wisdom to balance his abilities

    2. Musah for the Futuro ? That’s absurd, he has made some wild costly mistakes and lacks maturity but he has played well against Inter & Roma and is one of the youngest players on the team with a very high ceiling .
Kessie ,apart from his initial months, was anything but the beast he became in the middle for the first 2 years, even Bakayoko was outshining him.
Also there is only Reijnders,Bondo ,Fofana and Musah as real midfielders so we really need him. The coach will make him reach that level as he can take it on board.

  31. It’s too early to judge anything, but we got the result and there were a lot of positive signs. It will be interesting to see how things look in ten games’ time after Conceicao has had time to integrate the new players and settle on a formation and starting eleven. I am a big fan of two striker systems and would be very happy if we move in that direction.

  32. I’ve missed these kind of passes Felix made last night, since Kaka days in Milan. It was a relief to say the least. And nice combination with Santi for the goal, hope to see more from the duo.

Kudos to the team for their performance, Abraham was really motivated against his club. Pavlo and Tomori are forming good partnership. Pavlo is a monster.

Puli is a bit quiet there but he’s probably just a bit overworked.

Btw, can we offer Saele + 15 millions for Kone? That guy’s a tank in the middle. Really similar to Kessie.

    1. “I’ve missed these kind of passes Felix made last night, since Kaka days in Milan.”

TELL ME ABOUT IT!!! I was watching him play with my mouth open and thinking “WTF IS GOING ON?!!!”. I didn’t remember players could actually give such passes at San Siro. Wearing the Rossoneri shirt. Holy sh1t! 😀
