AC Milan failed miserably in Zagreb as the home side prevailed 2-1, following a red card in the first half for the Rossoneri. Many players could have done better and below are the ratings for Sergio Conceicao’s men.
If you haven’t already, make sure to check out how we decide the player ratings. From the scale to what affects the rating, we have compiled everything there.
Starting XI
Maignan (6): He couldn’t do anything about the goals, let’s be honest, and at least he distributed the ball well for most of the game – although he slipped once again which was a bit symbolic for Milan’s whole evening.
Tomori (4.5): Not a successful evening for him, and the surprising thing is that he seemingly did better at right-back than when he was moved into the centre again. The defending on the second goal was extremely poor from him and he committed many fouls as well.
Gabbia (4): Mistakes happen in football (albeit rarely from this man), BUT this was of a fatal character and thus made life so difficult for Milan. He was subbed off at half-time and thus his rating is heavily influenced by the error, since we didn’t see much else.
Pavlovic (6): One of the few players that actually tried today, in both phases of the game we should add. The defending was solid from him, especially since his teammates didn’t help much, and in the end he managed to flick on long balls in attack (but no one responded).
Hernandez (5): Another game with a lack of energy from the Frenchman. He barely added anything in either phase, but at least there were no big mistakes as last time out (vs. Parma). Either way, his form is becoming really frustrating.
Musah (2): There’s a difference between making a mistake – even if fatal like Gabbia’s – and making a stupid decision. The American definitely did the latter this evening, putting his whole team in trouble with an inexplicable foul. He was already carded due to trying to lift an injured Dinamo player, so the second card was just the icing on the cake. On par with Thiaw vs. Monza last season.

Fofana (5): He had a couple of opportunities on the edge of the box but had no luck with his finishing, and the passing wasn’t brilliant either to be completely honest. He needs rest, everyone can see it except the management.
Pulisic (6 – MOTM): It was yet another game with questionable actions from the American, getting booked from dissent and struggling in the 1v1s. Then, in the second half, almost out of nowhere he scored a nice equaliser. From that point on, he played much better but it wasn’t enough in the end.
Reijnders (5): Just like Fofana, it’s so obvious that he’s tired. It looked like the 90th minute after 20 minutes had passed. Sure, he still ran but especially with a player like Reijnders, you can see when that extra energy is lacking.
Leao (5): Aside from maybe one or two good 1v1s, he struggled out there today and couldn’t make a difference for his team. Of course, it didn’t get easier after the red card but the feeling is still that he lacked desire then. The penalty that was called back was a bit unlucky, as he did everything right (and the arm was a natural movement).
Morata (4.5): He had one chance in the box, but the effort was blocked. The hold-up play was far from great and in the box, well, once again it felt like we were playing without a striker.
Substitutes
Terracciano (4.5): Way too rash in the defensive phase, as seen on the goals that Dinamo scored in the second half. One was called off for offside, sure, but the winner could have been avoided.
Chukwueze (5): A couple of good crosses from him, but also a couple of really poor ones. A mixed bag as always from the Nigerian.
Okafor (4.5): The best chance of the second half, at least one of the best, fell to his feet but he completely scuffed the effort.
Abraham (5): The Englishman, like Okafor, also had a couple of opportunities in the box that weren’t capitalised on.
He’s not a big fan of Americans I see.
I and many others tried to tell him last season his ratings of Pulisic’s play are off but he has his mind made up.
“It was yet another game with questionable actions from the American, getting booked from dissent and struggling in the 1v1s”. That’s how he starts his rating. Yes he had a horrible first half but he balled out in the 2nd and single handily tried to keep Milan in it. Nice goal and nice pass which would have set up a penalty and another goal from him had Leao not put his arm out and then a good corner that Pav had a decent chance at. Plus he played well centrally. Also I would give Musah a 2 also but I’ve never seen a 1 or 2 since I’ve been on this website. I think if he wasn’t American it would be at least a 3 🙂
Yeah this guy has a clear bias. Even when he is forced to give Pulisic a good rating he has to add in some criticism. Puli didn’t have a good half but he was brilliant in the second. Not only the great goal but some great passing as well. Put leao in on goal for the penalty and had a few other really good balls setting up his teammates.
Meanwhile he has to make excuses and add caveats while begrudgingly giving Gabbia a bad rating for his atrocious play.
Exactly. Clear bias.
Horrible Musah. Gabia slipped. Tomori bad days. A complete non competitive Team for UCL most important clash. They make everything difficult by them self.
Probably next match Man City
Then Inter or Arsenal.
This season is nightmare

We play PSV and if we advance it’s either Juventus or Feyenoord.
No we play or Feyenoord or Juventus.
Yeah right. Pulisic should get a 10 for shooting at the goal once. Incredible. Musah was a 0, one of the most stupid human beings I have ever seen. Maybe because of where he was born and raised, not sure?
Slipping, this is all what we have been doing all night. This team looks more and more like it can lose to virtually anyone. One day we might have a match against school kids and we won’t be so sure if we can win. So, congratulations to everyone who manage to put us in this place.
Conceição: still no identity, no playing style, incapable of creating threats and always seemingly in danger of conceding one goal. Furthemore, this looks less like a team eager to win and more like a frustrated, stressed team whose players can’t control their behaviours, but hey, if the coach can almost attack one of his players publicly in front of the world after a game, what do you expect from players.
Maignan: Not much responsibility in the goals, although he might could have done better in the second one.
Tomori: He’s not a right back and not a good defender anymore.
Pavlović: Not too bad, but also too often out of position and overextended, which means that he actually had to cover a lot of ground tracking back instead of being in a good position in the first place. But since we were losing, it’s understandable.
Gabbia: these mistakes can happen to anyone, but since he ended up being the one behind the 1st goal we conceded, he has to be blamed.
Théo: The goals weren’t his fault, but he’s done nothing good either.
Terracciano: Not terrible either.
Reijnders: getting worse and worse every game, probably because he’s been run to the ground. How can the management watch our games and not be in contact with midfielders? But hey do they even understand football?
Fofana: getting worse and worse every game, probably because he’s been run to the ground. Needs to be fined each time he shoots from behind the penalty box. Also, his decision making when it comes to passing and shooting is horrendous.
Musah: You’re not a boy anymore, you need to control your behavior and emotions. 2 stup!d yellow cards that jeopardized our chances. Football wise, he didn’t bring nothing and where better even with 10 men… So far it looks like 20M€ were flushed down the toilet…
Leão: It’s almost as easy for defenders to win the ball from him as to win it from school kids. No good crosses, shots or dribbles, but hey his last good game was barely a week ago…
Pulisic: In the first half, frustrated, easily beaten and overall, no good offensive contribution. A bit better in the second half as a left winger.
Morata: Did he even play?
Chukwueze: He brought some life to us, as he seems to be the only player able to beat a man, but didn’t do that much either.
Okafor: of course he was going to miss a sitter.
Abraham: I apologize for even saying we should purchase him.
CHUKWUEZE THE ONE FOOTED WONDER SUKKKKKKKKS !! He has thirty yards in front of him but instead of taking it and crossing with his dead right foot he ALWAYS cuts it back to his left which puts him in a crowded area ( which every defender knows) .SELL ! SELL ! SELL !
I am totally in agreement. 20 m€ was already in the toilet when they signed the contract with musah. I dont know his iq rating but im sure he is too way low for this kind of European championship. He would be good fit in england championship or sth similar. If you lose someone like Maldini and Boban and replace it with someone like zlatan who i love him as a player or possible coach assistant you are going to take down your team. I dont believe this Milan is lacking players forget about some exclusion in the squad what i believe is that there is no mentality in the game and this problem is from management. Who has left the team and put everything on the coach and the players.
Hope they watched Baturina. Milan seems to concede silly and avoidable goals.
First of all, Musah is a headless chicken. Can’t believe this coach started him with Chuk and Okafor on the bench. Lmao.
Second, Conceicao managed to destroy good defense Fonseca built, creating from the middle that Fonseca instituted. He’s back to side to side wing ball and the players are back to being their lazy selves cos they needed a coach just like him. No tactics, just pass side to side and if you get lucky, a counter will net us a goal. lol. Pathetic.
Fonseca is gone, Emerson is not playing, I wonder who those people that wanted Fonseca gone would blame now if they can’t blame their messiah Conceicao.…
Fonseca was a disaster and Emerson is a f-cking one man clown show. Grow up
SJF unhinged again. You just saying something doesn’t make it true.
We never looked this bad under Fonseca. Let’s count the number of players that have regressed since Conceicao took over:
Reijnders, Fofana, Gabbia, even Pulisic has not looked as good.
The defense looks much worse. The offense is not any better. Theo and Leao just the same as before.
We literally fall behind in every single match.
Can you imagine this team under Conceicao going into the Bernabeau and beating Real Madrid? Not in a million years. I shutter to think what Inter are going to do to us this weekend.
Management really screwed this one up. Should have had the courage to stick with their choice instead of listening to the idiot fans.
You mean just screaming at the players, falling behind every match, then hoping for a miracle comeback is not a sustainable strategy??? Who could’ve guessed.
None of what you say negates the truth I posted
You can call it “regressed” or you can also keep in mind that Fonseca started with them from preseason fully charged. By the time he was fired, they were already regressing and running on fumes, as they are now.
SO what you call regression, I would attribute to their exhaustion finally catching up and affecting their form.
I’m not sure what you have against Conceicao.
“Fonseca started with them from preseason fully charged.”
He didn’t get to work with them at all in the preseason as they were all playing in the Euros. Guess they were fully charged off the Euros.
What do I have against Conceicoa? Have you watched the performances? The team looks worse now than it ever did under Fonseca. In 8 games now not a single good, complete performance. Even in our wins we have to come from behind because our first halves have been unbelievably bad. There’s been nothing so far to even be optimistic about. At least under Fonseca there were some impressive performances you could point to to give some hope even if the results weren’t always good. You could see what they were trying to do at least. I can’t tell what the gameplay is under Conceicao. It just looks like chaos.
Fonseca was never fantastic. He got a few good, and unexpected results, but we were not a great team under him. Conceicao, has the balls to take on any team, even without our first eleven. It will take some time, with a lot of support from the management, getting some players that he wants, to achieve something great with this squad. A lot of our players are out of sorts. A lot of them need a “madman” like Conceicao to change the way they do things. I don’t getting carried away when we win, and won’t be worked up either when we lose. Ultimately, something is going to change. A defeat, like this one, has a way of making things better.
Madman with zero plan since in not 1 game Milan went into with any idea what they are doing.
Look bad, go down and then throw in everything, including the kitchen sink, to get a result.
Starting the games bad means unprepared team by the coach.
I dont believe if conceicao can. He did it with Porto but have you ever seen porto under conceicao. They usually lose in every big game. The only thing that matters was Defence with multiple layers or make chaos in front of the penalt Box to find back of the nett with chance_ he is not a coach for dominant football. We will see at the end of this season he will be a 80 % gone coach. As we will fail to reach champions league spot. Anyway i dont think the first priority for this team is a coach bur will be an efficient team of managers who really knows how to spend and where to spend and can control and observe team environment.
Can’t reply to your reply below.
Under Fonseca we had only two good performances. Inter and Madrid. That’s it.
Conceicao isn’t a magician and I think he needs time. But I can tell you that unlike Fonseca, Conceicao’s teams show more coming from behind winning games that would have otherwise been lost under Fonseca. my memory may be short, but I don’t think we won a single game coming from behind under Fonseca.
Not entirely true. I would say the performance against Napoli . Even tho we lost the match we outplayed Napoli with half our starters out that match we created more chances and better chances. Just didn’t finish them. There were a few games like that. We also beat Venezia 4-0. I can’t imagine this team beating anyone 4-0 now. We would fall behind 2-0 in the first half and then miraculously win 3-2 by luck. We’ll the luck has run out.
Coming from behind In games you should never be behind in the first place is not really something to brag about. It’s a sign that the coach did not have the proper gameplay to start the match. And it’s literally every single match so far.
Couldn’t have said it better myself. I feel like we’re closer to collapsing than turning a corner. The collapse might occur as early as this weekend when we face an Inter that is hitting full stride.
Dude you really are in love with Fonseca, he’s already married, so just chill.
Intelligent comment. Some very good points there.
You need to get over it kiddo. You’ve been crying that Fonseca got fired for weeks now and insulting the new manager whenever you can for taking his place. He failed kiddo, get over it
You can’t blame Conceicao for this game. We would have won this game if it wasn’t for Musah.
Fonseca was not a good manager for milan and Emerson has been trash all season. Some people argue that Emerson had a good performance against Real Madrid, but he gave away a penalty. In my mind you can’t just give away a penalty like he did and have a great performance, it doesn’t add up.
And saying Conceicao doesn’t have tactics is ridiculous. His tactic is to play more direct football, unlike Fonsecas tactic, passing the ball around in the defence until someone intercepts it, forcing Maignan play a long ball.
Really, we were already losing before Musah got sent off. Thanks to Gabbia, who of course nobody on here will criticize because he’s Italian.
Pulisic had his worst half as a Milan player. Then balled out in the 2nd. He always makes a difference. The problem is no one else does on a consistent basis. Pavlovic played well too.
Seriously Pulisic was bad first half and then second half it seems everything good offensively came through him. Excited to see him and Walker combine.
AGREE 100000 PERCENT WITH Natorian !!!
Pavlovic is better at passing than defending. Can’t wait to see him play against top strikers, he had issues with Kulenovic from Dinamo, their 2nd striker, not even the 1st one. Amazing player Strahinja….
Yet he was our best defender yesterday. AGAIN! Oh well…
Embarrassing, just embarrassing! Looked like they could have scored on every attack! How are we so bad defensively but so ineffective attacking?!?!
Bad/Tired midfield.
Another terrible performance only Pulisic look worthy of a Milan shirts.
I’d say Pavlovic too but yeah this was pathetic.
Puli, Pavlo, Fofana, Reijnders, Gabbia even, despite his mistake… But the list is short.
Yes of course those players should stay with the team, I was referring to this match but Pavlovic was decent tonight too. The whole project is rotten from the top down. Outing Maldini, selling Tonali (even with gambling ban), and poor transfer policy (cheap) is the slow death we are suffering. We had a good team during Scudetto season with only Pulisic upgrading the RW, everywhere else we have down
graded.
Gabbia? Hahaha, he is just as bad as Tomori, he’s just Italian so you people give him a pass.
Fofana ‘couple of opportunities on the edge of the box but had no luck with his finishing’ – no luck? are you serious? this guy just cant shoot at all.
and Morata – i was supporting his signing since he won a lot etc. but he is not able to combine with the other players, first touch and passing are just underwhelming.
Morata was a stupid, cheap, short sighted signing.
No surprise he is what he is. Did he even score at the Euros? despite being striker on the winning team!
Yes, vs Croatia. Once, starting striker, ONCE in the Euros.
He’s a support striker except we don’t have a true 9 to support. in fact all our “strikers” are support strikers. Supporting no one in particular.
They are “I need support” -strikers. They can’t do anything by themselves.
After milan were basically saying they would bring in a top coach and a top striker they ended up going to two cheap alternatives and that’s why we are where we are today. The managements fault.
I could be wrong but I don’t know if I’ve seen one of Fofanas shots hit the target. Dude needs to stop shooting. I’m sure if Pulisic shot like all the time than he would be a little more critical with his statement.
Watching Fofana shoot is like watching someone with one eye and turrets try to do archery.
One word: Maldini. Bye.
Lol… he struggled too
Lol no he didn’t
Paolo? To replace Theo? Good idea.
Daniel? Naaah, not good enough.
Paolo the SD? Can’t do worse than Moncada, that’s for sure.
Can we all agree we were never top 8 material? Our CL performance, bar the Bernabeu miracle, was AT BEST slightly better than the usual nightmares in Serie A. Just remember the Brugges and Slovan games.
This is the mirror of RedBird’s management.
As I said last summer, time will prove it was not primarily Pioli’s fault. No coach can win with lazy mentality players.
I would say sell Theo. Try Pavlovic in his place. Without some quality transfers, the coach, whoever he is, can’t do much.
How about rating for Cardinale ?
For now Cardinale is – 10. If he manage to sell club, we will give him +4.
5 for selling plus -1 for all these results.
You must be master of disaster to own club in Italy, which have the highest revenue in Serie A and to loose against Dinamo, not from Kiyev, or Bucharest…. but from ZAGREB….
I bet that Americans can’t understand this, but basically imagine Brazil with Ronaldo and Ronaldinho in team, lost in World Cup against San Marino.
It’s the same thing tonight with Cardinale-Furlane Milano team.
Moncada built the team, not Cardinale, and if you think a change of ownership automatically makes things better, you’re even more clueless than you appear.
A change of ownership absolutely makes things better, as with this lot we get worse and worse
No, it doesn’t. Go and look at Tottenham or Valencia and see their owners running their clubs into the ground. You blame the owner because you naively think a rich owner can put money into the club, they can’t. Nor is money an issue. We’ve spent almost as much as Newcastle in the last 18 months, and they have the wealthiest owners on the planet. The issue isn’t money, it’s how it’s been spent. That’s on Moncada.
And who put Moncada in charge? Along with the other clowns?
You’re delusional.
The previous management diid a great job and this lot have torn it down.
Face reality, they need to go
No one built the team. We had three disjointed arms working without a vision. Hence the result. No one to tie it altogether. No one to say “how the fcuk are all these players gonna play together?” or “How does any of this make any sense?”
Master of disaster? He reads the 75k stat in every home game and is done for the month in terms of Milan. We just got him a potential +1 in CL in that very same regard.
They should have pushed Tomori out the door. Sending a dud to Juve isn’t strengthening a rival, it’s sabotage. Tomori out.
maignant 6 ? what game you saw ? MAIGNANT 3.5 MAX
MIKE MAIGNANT THE WORST GOALKEEPER IN MILAN JERSEY , HE NEVER SAVE NOTHING #maignantOUT , WORST CASE SCENARIO ucl playoff MILAN VS feyeNOT and GIMENEZ GOALS KICKING OUT MILAN from ucl 2025 early ..so early
Troll. Move On.
LOL. Says someone how hasn’t seen Dida. 😀
Every week I say this is the worst half of football I’ve ever seen.
Then the next match comes and I say it all over again.
So glad we got a “real coach” in there.
Never looked this bad under Fonseca.
Musah lost his mind.
Gabbia looked like he was drunk or never touched a football before in his life.
Theo has no interest and doesn’t even hide that fact. He should be benched immediately.
The only two with any fight was Pulisic and Pavlovic.
This coach… Can anyone explain or even make out what the tactics were. I can’t even tell what they were trying to do. No strategy, no movement, no patterns of play. Just a bunch of kids at recess kicking the ball around. Brutal to watch.
Pulisic, reijnders, fofana, maignan ok. Rest on transfer list. The definition of insanity. Doing the same thing and expecting a different result
Milan looks worse and worse with every game played.
Emerson, Calabria and Thiaw were missed today. I can say that even Fonseca is missed.
I still don’t see how signing a striker solves Milan problems with another game of zero scoring chances created. Use the money to buy not 1 but 2 midfielders before your 2 midfielders get run into the ground.
Milan players continue to get stupid yellow cards. None of the yellow cards were for a foul or a tackle, all for arguing with the ref or opposing players. Musah was an idiot.
A chance to get few games off to rest was missed. Vs PSV might get ugly because they play good football and Milan can’t connect 2 passes together.
They came in with no idea and no desire to play and deservingly lost.
However this season ends at the end of the year there needs to be a clear up in the squad. Especially those players that got contract extension and stopped giving even 50% out there.
On to inter. This one might get really ugly especially without Fofana.
How was Emerson missed? Thiaw maybe but not horrible Emerson.
Well if “always winning is boring” then Gerry definitely fulfilled his vision…
Did you notice recently that Milan players push opponents from the back? I have noticed Leao doing it in the last match and then discovered it was a pattern. Almost all the players were doing it! Drawing stupid fouls just to slow down counter attacks.
Sergio must have told them to play rough too. Some of our players dont seem to know the boundaries for such behaviour.
Against inter? they will also extract their pound of flesh. I don’t see the miracles Sergio can perform, maybe walker will add some impetus. right now its just blind hope.
We don’t play against PSV. It’s Feyenoord or Juventus.
We came with a plan. Plan wasn’t good enough. Players weren’t prepared to execute the plan. Coaching issue. I am worried. We were not prepared.
We ended up in a physical game. We didn’t react well. We weren’t prepared for a dog fight.
Leao was back to pitch walking today. Not sure why and it was disappointing to see.
Musah seemed to be on a mission to undermine the effort. Even after the red he refused to leave the pitch. Mangion had to shoo him off. I’m a fan of this guy but the who sequence from picking up a Dinamo player to the grab to the protesting was pure assclownery
Puli booked for descent seems to me to say the team struggled to adapt to how the game was being called. We aren’t prepared to be physical. (We aren’t prepared is the theme of the last 3 weeks IMO)
We could have Haaland on the pitch and it wouldn’t matter. No service means no chances. Gimenez is known to collapse under pressure on his national team. Mentally weak. While he will fit right in, I cannot image why we want him.
Morata looks cooked. For a professional footballer his first touch is abysmal. He should be playing as a 6, not a 9. As a 9 he is killing our attack. As a 6 he likes the other teams attack.
Not sure why Terra got panned here. He played with passion and purpose. Yeah he was a bit wild but at least he was giving 100%
Reinjders and Fofana are cooked. Their impact continues to write. Coach needs to work out some rotation, but he says, “there is not tired.” Denial is usually not a great strategy.
It’s clear Sarge’s act is wearing thin already. Leao reverting to lazy mode. Theo remaining in 1st gear. We are not coming out fighting after the firey half time speech.
Id like to see our coach speak less dogma and implement a clear strategy to climb the Serie A table in the second half of the season.
As for leadership they have built a culture of mediocrity. And they have been successful. That they have managed to do so with quality players reinforces it as a leadership issue.
Forza Milan. But dang, I could use some sort of signs of care from my team.
What was the plan? I sure couldn’t see one.
Thanks for strengthening my point. 🙂
I assume Sarge comes with a plan every game. That you or I cannot pick it out is alarming.
The tactic is run hard and bring attitude.
That’s the problem. This coach thinks just screaming at the players to run hard is some sort of tactic. It is not.
Yes, I know, I wasn’t a fan of bring in Conceicao. My comment was meant to be a dig.
People complained about Pioli’s planning. Ditto with Fonseca. Ditto now with Sergio. Maybe the problem is that some players don’t have enough tactical IQ to understand the plan? Maybe the third coach in less than a year is exposing some players’ lack of basic quality? Maybe some of the “stars” should be sold for good and the team renovated?
Or Gerry could stop being a cheap skate and bring in quality players and our “stars” might regain some shine.
While I agree with you to some extent, each also had clear issues as a coach.
Pioli was unwilling to trust any player outside his starting 11 the past two years. He allowed Leao to stand around as part of the game plan.
Fonzy waited too long to make subs and could seem to change a game in progress.
Sarge cannot seem to couch unless there is first a crisis.
I hope Sarge lasts the rest of the season and proves me wrong.
But the backsliding I see also seems to be accelerating. I am alarmed.
Fair points. I also have my doubts about Sergio. He has potential, obviously, but in the past he had a lot of conflicts with players or staff. Things on 2 or 3 occassions turned public, and once family was involved too. It remains to be seen how much can he deal with pressure -pressure at Milan is way higher than in his previous teams. A coach to put the team into the right tracks needs to be calm and mature among other things. He will either make or break it at Milan.
Third coach… same problems… At some point this isn’t on the coach anymore. It’s on the players assembled and the management who did.
I’ve been saying that for a while. It’s not a coach thing, it’s a poorly built team. Our midfield is the weakest that milan has had for some time. Fofana just a muscle ( when he is not tired) . Reinders has potential but he has got to find the right place in the midfield, he is not a dm and he is not an am and ok cm. Ben seems.like injuries have affected his play a lot, even if that was not the case he needs midfielders around him with certain characteristics. Also they all play so distant from each other. Bench? There none. We got to forwards that are not your typical 9s, although lack of a proper am doesn’t help them. Yes everyone slams theo and leao (sometimes rightly so) but they see the team better than us on and off the field. The quality of the team has significantly dropped since redbird took over. Plus, the clown inexistant management don’t help things. On and off the field, we look disorganized and without a clear strategy. We can cherry pick players to criticize, this week it’s this one and next week that one, but the truth of the matter is that this is a poorly built team from the day that cardinale appointment the three stooges and their moneyball b and s, using the buy and see what sticks strategy.
I don’t think it’s cherry picking.
It’s about pointing out the players that give their maximum effort, game in and game out, when the games are going well as well as not, like Pulisic.
It’s about pointing out that Theao only play well when they feel like it. It’s about their lack of consistency as senior-most players. As top earners. As most talented players here. If their work ethic resembled Puli’s no one would ever say much because at least they try.
But yes, the bigger problem is that many of these players are non complimentary to each other. And overall, players are mentally more fragile than 20 years ago.
Exactly. And let’s also face the fact that our midfield is average. If even that. They can’t defend, they can’t create. And as an icing on the cake, the midfield is running on fumes. Has been running for ages too.
Laugh as much as you want but I’ll ask you this: Where is Pobega? Where is Adli? Those two would make a huge difference atm. As bad as they are, they would lift our midfield’s level. And that says a lot about our midfield. I’m not joking either. So fng sad…
Let me sum it up. WE NEED 6-7 NEW PLAYERS ,SHIP THE OTHERS OUT ( WE ALL KNOW WHICH ONES )
“Leao was back to pitch walking today. Not sure why and it was disappointing to see”
This guy drives me nuts!
I was honestly surprised people thought we’d win this.
We struggle against the lesser teams in Italy, so why woul this be different.
This team is getting worse.
My concern now is the players who excelled under Fonseca are wilting under this manager, Gabbia,Fofana, Tiji, Pulisic I guess Thiaw has an excuse as hes out.
It feels like we are Napoli of last year, lurching from crisis to crisis.
I already have friends messaging me laughing at Milan, we are a joke.
Those f-ckin cheap c-nts in control need to have a f-ckin reality check.
I hope they lose a fortune on this investment
pulisic a Pro playing with Amatuers
Playing most of the game with 10 was the last thing we needed. Pulisic can never go off. This project is wearing down.
Pulisic is coming off of two injuries and right back to playing 90 + he honestly should never go the full 90 any game given how much running he does. These managers are playing with fire.
Agree!
Yeah, scores make sense. But we haven’t been looking good since the Inter match. Somehow this was to be expected. At some point, Conceicao needs to stop with the excuses, and all the mental nonsense, and start having us playing proper football
his fave response: ” I take responsibility; it is my job: I’m paid to do it!”.. and then absolutely nothing changes
Pioli out
Also, cheers to Leao and Theo – they deceived us into believing they were actually ready to become leaders and great players. What a duo on lazy buffoons. Always excuses, like how they miss Maldini, the rest of the players are crap, they don’t like the coach, they don’t like his replacement, they can’t handle the pressure to win all games. Everyone is getting bashed on this board regularly, yet these two are treated like prime Maldini and Shevchenko. Get a friggin’ grip. They peaked in 2022 and it’s only been downhill ever since. One of these clowns actually wants to have his salary doubled and he is so far the worst player in Serie A since August. Loose this toxic guy ASAP, even Terracciano can easily replace his current version. We’re wasting so much money on player who don’t deliver and always have excuses.
They are all crap…
Not true. Gabbia made a fatal mistake, but he is always giving his all and deserves a mention when it comes to continuity. Pretty much same goes for Pulisic and Mike. Calabria and Pavlovic are more limited, but are putting an actual effort and deliver good performances that would be praised even more had they been supported by actual football players and management. Our two “shining stars” have no mentality to become leaders, despite what they’re semi-deranged superfans would have you believe. It’s beyond annoying at this point.
Leao is the worst because he is the biggest earner in the team and this season his performances have been abysmal. And Theo deserves no comments tbh
Terra getting slated for no reason honestly. Not great by any means but he was at least giving it 110%, more than most of the squad. I wanna see Jovic, idk how many times morata and Abraham can do absolutely NOTHING and we still don’t ry him up top. He’s proven he can score for us, so WHY?! Can he do ANY WORSE?!
Please watch the games under Sarge at like 5x.
Count the service to our strikers. Its not a striker issue.
It’s a tactic issue. We have both Puli and Leao inverted. So where can the service come from? And with them inverted there is no room to win a cross. Case – Tammy gets a decent ball to him and puts it on target. (Header)
He got one such ball in the 20 minutes on the field.
I will admit Jovic is a solid poacher. So mayb he can feed off the pinball wizardy that seems to be our tactical identity.
In hockey there is an offensive tactic called “dump and chase”. This seems to be all we are trying to achieve.
Both Leao and Pulisic naturally invert. We have to play to that or drop at least one of them. Inverted wingers traditionally feed (or feed off) a fairly static number 9. We don’t have one.
Conceição can’t fix a train set with missing signal boxes. It’s a boardroom issue long before it’s a coaching issue.
The problem is inverting to begin with. This has been going on for a good 15 years now and classic wingers who are footed to match the side they’re on (so left footed player on the left side, right footed player on the right side) almost don’t exist. The days of crossing to a classic no. 9 are basically gone. If anything, that task has fallen to the fullbacks but I seldom see Theo just whip in a cross from the left, and none of our RBs pre-Walker could cross. Contemporary wingers are expected to cut in and shoot, cut in and then send another man through, or take it to the line inside the box and cut back. I know you know this, but I’m just saying can’t have your cake and eat it as well.
Thats why im been hoping to see us go all in on 4-3-3. DM will cover for overlapping fullbacks who will provide width when our inverted wingers cut inside. Theo is a problem here obviously since he too likes to cut inside.
Atm we do not have good enough fullbacks nor a striker thought. Team is kinda badly put togather at this point, inbwteen two managements with two different ideas
It becomes increasingly difficult to watch this team. Keep putting bandage after bandage on the same problems. But all season, the same team has played. One day we have no offense, the next day we have no defense. Let’s not continue to act like we are one striker away from success…
Thanks to Puli for having good effort despite a bad first half… as for the rest of them…
This team is ill. You can say it’s player’s fault or the coach’s fault but that’s not really all of the truth! Most of these players have won a Scudetto before, and they’ve been to the semi-final of CL. As far as the coach is concerned, Conceicao had Porto playing good football. If Fonseca and Conceicao both failed/are failing and the same thing happened in some of Pioli’s matches of last season, then the problem is not the coach either.
What remains then you ask? The management of the club. This is a MESS created by Cardinale, Furlani, Moncada and Zlatan. Period.
Dismissed the competent Maldini-Massara duo was the first big sin. Selling Tonali who was the spirit of this club and buying a bunch of random players was the second big sin. Tonali, at the very least, on his worst day, would still play his heart out.
Maldini had won the manager of the year award. Tonali was in the team of the season. Leao was the league MVP then. Theo was discussed as possibly the best left-back in the word. Maignan had won golden gloves and was the third best keeper in the world. What did they do this team?
Agreed, getting rid of Maldini and selling Tonali was the start of this epic meltdown. Both Leao and Theo look disinterested and only Pulisic is better than what we had during the Scudetto season. We need to bring in warriors not whoever the algorithm says is the best value. Until this midfield is revamped we will not go anywhere. To start we better not go cheap and lose out on Ricci and we even need another top talent to help control the midfield. If we do that Gabbia and Thiaw will be solid. Its no coincidence that Kalulu looks a lot better playing behind Locatelli and Thuram, our midfield is the weak link.
100% The atmosphere around the club has disintegrated from a winking one to complete fragility.
Culture comes from the top. So I think your assessment is sadly accurate
Gerry can’t possibly look at this team and think he’s doing a good job… If he looks at all. The accounts sure look great though. Turning a profit. Shareholders are happy. “And if it ain’t broke, then don’t try to fix it…”
Gerry’s goal before the shareholders is not Milan making a profit from revenue or having zero debt. His goal is to increase Milan’s value, i.e. the price of the club in the market. Its main metric is revenue. If Milan don’t get a UCL spot next season and the revenue falls, the shareholders wouldn’t care about Gerry’s balance sheet (the club’s market value just needs to increase faster than the debt+interest) .
The accounts will be effected by ťhe results
100% agree cardinale and his boys are ruining our beatuful club maignan was one of the best gk in the world and theo was the best lb a few seasons ago and leao was one of the best lw in the world and the best lw in serie a this cardinale ruined this club and with that autustic furlani and moncada
This is exactly what i was thinking watching the game yesterday. When milan were on their way to win the scudetto and with Maldini i felt a real family sense of belonging at the club, now that has completely gone and just feels like a random bunch of players running around doing nothing! We are a mirror reflection of tottenham…Pioli was having the issues at the end, then Fonseca and now Conceciao…something is up and it isnt the manager that can be blamed entirely now…
You get what you pay for. Really poor.
This team needs to figure it out. Did pioli make us look better than we were? Because this season has been abysmal and it only seems to be getting worse than better.
How do we fix it? Will a striker or midfielder really solve our issues? I can’t believe we fumbled a top 8 finish and now we have to possible play Juventus, then inter or arsenal.
VERGOGNA
Pavlovic could be a dominant defender on a real team, one with legitimate wide backs and a legitimate defensive midfield.
The 75k loyal Gerry servants have paid their expensive Sunday ticked and I bet he is trembling as to whether some of them will jeer from now and then.
What a joke this club has become, including its fanbase in the city.
I could care less if Pulisic sits on the sidelines reading comic books for 70 minutes as long as he gets a goal or an assist. For an offensive player, that’s the only measure to judge.
Not really. If that was true why would there be 100s of articles about Leao not defending? What you wrote is just nonsense, nothing else.
Cannavaro said he started a 35 year old full back who nullified Leao.
No emerson no party
This is the type of Milan that Milan fans in the prisons should be forced to watch as part of their punishment. No coach can organise these clowns calling themselves footballers. Psv will destroy them.
Awkward team
And make them eat pizza with PINEAPPLE while they’re watching!
This team is what we all thought it was – poorly built.
Players were brought in based on resale value and cost VS functionality and ability to contribute. Many are just mentally weak and only elevate their levels when those around them play better. No one is capable of putting this team on their back and bulldozing forward. Nor should one player be expected to do that.
Sadly only a handful of players are worthy of this shirt: Pulisic, Maignan, Fofana, Reijnders (you could make a case for Gabbia despite his mistake). Unfortunately the management is too dense to realize that and build around them. Those players are the core.
The fact that we’ve had three managers and the same problems persist is further evidence of how poorly this team was put together. No matter how pivotal Leao can be, no matter how much we can back him and support him, he will never be more than what he already is. Flashes of brilliance and a lot of inconsistency. Of late he’s shown more effort but still inconsistently – look at last two games. Is this sustainable?!
– Theo is no longer the player he was. His head is elsewhere this entire season.
– Musah is young and dumb and needs to be loaned out for a year or two.
– Tomori isn’t good at anything at particular except recover pace and rash challenges.
– Bennacer no longer the player he was.
– Okafor, Chuk, Calabria, Emerson, Terraciano, Abraham and Morata are duds. No other way to say it.
Arguments could be made for Pavlo and Gabbia.
So all we have going for us are the 4 players I mentioned in the beginning. They can not carry all the deadweight in this team. Even they aren’t mentally strong to motivate even though their work ethic is stellar. They are tired. Their quality has dipped. And we don’t even have a bench.
What gives??? What do they expect Conceicao to do? It’s no longer on the coach. Players have to be held accountable. You have to cut off the leg before gangrene spreads to other organs. And that how Milan looks – sick. Infected with a viral infection that spreads.
I’ve been willing to give the management the benefit of the doubt based on what they do but they have progressively weakened this team starting with last summer and the fiasco that was the mercato and the coaching appointment. How can this management stay with all these fcuk-upz and our current state of things???
It is so frustrating and gets worse after each game. And all this before the derby.
AGREE 1000 PERCENT WITH ACM1899 !!!! WELL SAID !!
It’s frustrating to watch. Can anyone explain why since Conceciao came we look horrible in the first half? He tend to look much better in the 2nd half when we are already losing and having to come back. I’m not blaming the coach but I just don’t get it.
He’s using the Harlem Globetrotters game plan as his inspiration. Sh*t first half and then do a miracle comeback.
🤣
Haha
Only good players in this team are Puli and Pavlovic. I’ve officially given up on Musah what a moron. Sell Theo immediately. Reijnders is an average player. Ghosting all the time and making it up with occasional goals. The new RLC. Leao fuckn sucks. Such a poor team. Annoying.
Pavlovic? The dude was in fault for a goal but got lucky because of the handball…Amazing defender, can’t wait to see him against Inter and Lautaro and Thuram. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Holy stupid Musah!
Just staggeringly bad. Sergio, burn it to the ground and start again.
I would take 3 years of the europa league to see a planned project blossom over whatever the f**k this is!!!
Well I guess the only “good thing” is they aren’t out of the Champions league yet. But they really didn’t need two more games on the schedule.
Our midfield is so overworked, Fofana and Tijji have barely rested. Musah… He’s probably going to be a great player somewhere, someday… But it won’t be in Milan. His head is not screwed on properly. Gabbia?? How does this happen?? He gifts a goal, it’s unthinkable.
One of the lowest lows for Milan in recent memory. And we keep lowering the bar… Sad times for a proud club. And we’re the richest in Italy to top it all.
Musah – LMAO. 21M for at best a backup to come on when you have a lead. That is it. This kid cannot play football. Sell him or loan him out so he can learn tactics and perhaps develop a football brain. The only reason we signed this kid in a GROSS overpay is because he is American. That’s it. Sure backfired. Kid is a BACKUP player at best – you know to go along with all our other amazing “depth” signings 🤣🤣🤣
Sergio will struggle rest of the season until he has a full summer yo evaluate and get the players that fit his system – assu, ing RedTurd buys him quality starting caliber plates and not the TRASH they have up till now. Until then I wouldn’t hope for much
Juro “we’re better than last year” remember? 😂
HA!!!
Yup we’re “cooking”!!!! – more like we are burnt toast🤣
NEED 6 – 7 NEW PLAYERS. SHIP ALL OTHERS OUT !!! SELL ! SELL !
Musah has gobs of talent, it’s obvious to anyone who watches him. But his head is in the clouds. He will probably go on to be a great player for some other club, but something is clearly missing for him at Milan. Certainly he’ll be our next CDK, Kalulu… But it’s not working for him here.
My friend you can have all the talent in the world (another that Musah does – he has average talent but an excellent motor) – but that doesn’t matter if you don’t have football IQ. He does not. Can he get it? Hard to say but ya he mist be loaned out so he can play everyday without pressure. Send him to Torino and cash for Ricci
Not that Musah does ***
IQ comes with experience and your environment. Doubt anyone is born a genius. Musah has potential but he’s too young and too raw.
He needs a year or two on loan. Allowed to play, eff up, get yelled at and learn from it. just not at Milan.
“He needs a year or two on loan.”
What you are suggesting is someone to climb the Mt Everest in 30 minutes. NEVER. GOING. TO. HAPPEN.
There are possible things and then there’s things that simply are impossible. Musah becoming a decent footballer is in the latter group.
“Musah has gobs of talent, ”
Not in football though.
It is a toss-up for MOTM if playing for Dinamo Zagreb, it was either Musah or Tomori, I give it to Tomori since RB is definatly not his cup of tea. Man did we stink or what, passes on the attack were for the most part two steps behind stride.
Forgetting anyone in this criticism? Maybe the guy who gifted the other team a goal? The guy who looked like he’d never touched a football before in his life. Who couldn’t control or pass a single ball… How did I know nobody would be criticizing Gabbia for his awful display out there…
Just imagine if that was someone else, the comments that would be coming at him.
The most bias site in the world.
WE GET IT, VIRGIN. You hate the Italian players. Now hush
Ian all too happy to show everyone he has the intellect of 12 year old schoolgirl with these really smart comments. I’m sure you are winning a lot of people over with these. You are embarrassing yourself and everyone who reads it.
Trying to bring stick to a bunch of carrot loving players is basically what’s going on here. We aren’t Porto, we don’t have those types of players. We’re not a muscle team. Don’t know if it’s taking over mid season but holy he.ll this type of football is dire! Ranieri isn’t available is he? Gus Hiddink maybe? Hahaha 😂. Are we still better than the year before or did that go out the window?
AGREE NO MUSCLE ON THIS TEAM……
Only Fofana has size and Musah but he goes full r*tard to often and you never go full r*tard and expect to play.
The problem is the management made a Frankenstein abomination by poor planning and appeasing different coaches. So it looks disjointed AF.
They need to fix onto a coach and a style. Gerry doesn’t get that the people below him think Buy low sell high is a style. If it’s Conceicao they want – great. Keep him, reinforce him in the way he wants. Throw away those carrot-loving bunnies and being in the wolverines.
Instead we’re stuck with a lot of Muppets and Care Bears.
What you are saying makes no sense whatsoever. Who are they buying low and selling high? Morata? Pulisic? Chuku? Reijnders? Fofana? Emerson? Walker? Jovic? Pavlovic?
Literally no one.they haven’t sold Maignan, Leao or Theo. Although maybe they should have
Don’t worry, no one is looking at the current team and is thinking of purchasing any Milan player for a good price anyways.
Do you actual scouts are watching Théo, Musah, Tomori, Emerson, Calabria, Chukwueze and be like: “these players will help our team ?”
Oh don’t even get me started on management. They are the primary reason we’re in this mess. It’s because they have no clue what they’re doing that we’re in this mess. They don’t know what they want or how to execute a vision. They wanted Fonseca yet don’t support him in the transfer window (he wanted Salad to stay for instance but we sent him away), they took him because he was cheap. Same with Sarge, cheap option for 6 months. He also has zero say on the market and it shows. We keep buying opportunities rather than constructing a team for a specific style of play. Last time we did that was for Pioli and it got results. Here we’re just winging it. Thinking an odd pick up here and there of quality equals squad building and it ain’t. It’s poor poor organization and we’re reaping the rewards for it…8th in the league and not seeing anything that would inspire confidence we’re going to make 4th
So Milan plays PSV in the playoff and if we beat them over two legs then we are in the knockouts? Then it’s a draw to see who we play?
If we win we play the winner between Juventus and Feyenoord.
So we play PSV only one game and if we win we play the winner of Juve/Fey? 1 game eliminations? Then it’s the round of 16 and we get inter or arsenal?
No, we don’t play PSV whatsoever. We play either Feyenood or Juventus next depending on the draw, then if we win that playoff game, we play either Arsenal or Inter in the round of 16.
Ok. New format is confusing.
How do you guys know this? I thought there’s a draw on Friday to determine next games?
I was busy today and only watched the game now on replay. I don’t even feel like giving ratings to the players. We should just say, Puli a 7 for his goal and his second half. Pavlovic a 6.5. Everybody else and I mean EVERYBODY at most a 4, with Gabbia a 3 for his error and Musah a 2 for his (yes, Gabbia’s error happens, Musah’s was stupidity so his rating is even lower).
What a sitter Okafor missed! Again! His supersub performances of last season are gone. He needs to be sold. Adds nothing to the team.
Chuk tried hard, but he’s still a bust. At this point I have to acknowledge that Morata is also a bust. He needs to be repurposed as a midfielder, and we urgently need Gimenez.
Someone needs to tell Fofana to stop trying to score. He is likely the worst finisher in all of Serie A.
Tomori had his usual blunder on their second goal. At this point I must agree with what someone else said: selling him to Juve would have been sabotage rather than reinforcing a rival.
Is this team completely exhausted, or just bad? I frankly don’t know.
I was able to snatch tickets for me and my son for the sold-out Derby but now I kind of fear humiliation. We look exhausted and washed. We are getting worse and worse.
People are blaming Conceição here, but it must be said that he only had 40 minutes to train the team for the Zagreb game, and he got a badly built team with no backups for essential players who are getting more and more tired. It’s not easy for a coach to operate with what he’s been given.
The thing is Juve have midfielders. Gabbia and Thiaw and even Tomori would like better if they had Locatelli, Thuram and Koop in front of them. Hell, even Juve backup midfielders are better defenders than ours. It should not be a surprise that Kalulu is looking good for Juve.
It’s clear the team is exhausted, we’ve played every game as must-win, including the Supercoppa. There has been minimal rotation, especially at midfield and on the wings.
They are paid millions
Its only Jan….Exhausted lol
A mixture of exhaustion and bad players. Reijnders and Fofana need a break. Musah, Théo, Morata, and Tomori aren’t good. Leao is too inconsistent. Chuk, Abraham, Okafor and RLC offer nothing coming off the bench so there really isn’t any depth.
Hahaha. Excuse for the messiah coach is that he had 40 minutes to train for Zagreb game ??? Lmao.
Continue with the excuses my friend. I guess it’ll help you sleep at night.
Conceição has no dang tactics. I went back to watch his games at Porto and I’m seeing the same issues. Only reason he won with them is cos well, Portuguese league is trash. The man has had time to implement his style of play after using the tactical foundation Fonseca built to win the Italian cup. Now we can clearly see he has no proper game plan.
Yes Fonseca built a tactical foundation. That is why he was so successful in his career. Because he built “tactical foundations” everywhere, but nobody kept him long enough to actually se it work. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 How can you write such random nonsense?
Ownership isn’t Italian.
Management isn’t Italian.
Players aren’t Italian.
Coach isn’t Italian.
When has a team in serie a who doesn’t have 4 or 5 core Italians in the lineup been successful? Serie a has one of the most unique styles and if you don’t have it you don’t succeed.
Horrible Musah, poor gabia slipped, bad bad Emerson and Tomori. They make everything difficult by them self. A complete non competitive Team for UCL most important clash of this stage. This season is over than nightmare
You forgot to mention how bad Calabria, Krunic, Castillejo and Pobega were this game
Lmao.
Ok.. Here we are
1. Gerrard once shocked the world because he slipped. Every defender has experienced a bad heart.
2. Please tell Musah. He exercises every day to train his muscles and physique. Not the mouth. So he should shut his mouth next time.
3. Please tell chuk, that he can’t shoot. He had to accept that fact
This is badly constructed team. A mediocre team. No intensity, body language and attitude are pathetic to say the least.
I am completely disappointed by Leao and Theo who were supposed to be “the senators” and lead by example.
A weak team in toxic club. That’s what this ownership constructed in only a season and a half.
You get what you pay for.
Three different coaches tried to point to that. The Muppets still don’t get it.
“ehhh, it’s fine – we got Benny back”
“ehhh, it’s fine – Morata and Tammy will work”
“ehhh, it’s fine – Emerson is good enough”
…
And I see Sergio saying team is behind him. I understand it’s a response of a question asked by the media but when a coach has to publicly say this out, there’s usually already a problem on coach-team relation.
Interesting point, but there is no way we’re appointing a 3rd coach this season. We’ll let me not say “no way”, but extremely unlikely. It would just be chaose.
Firstly, there is no point whatsoever to elect the GK as captain. He is of no benefit being at the end of the pitch. A sensible captain should be in the midfield and matured enough to manage the players when issues arise and avert stupid issues like Musah created and destroyed every chance his team had in getting the winning result. I say if a player done it once it’s one too many and should show him the door. This game was embarrassing to watch and hefty fines should be imposed to curb such behaviour. Wake up AC !!!
Cardinali and the management team set up are under performing. They need to go.
Theo and Laeo should go if right offer arrives for them even this January window. Fofana is far from ideal DM. Morata and Tammy are not strikers. Maybe, Concieceo should give Carmada and Jovic more playing time after all, Morata and Tammy aren’t having an impact on matches.
Till now, Concieceo has no impact on the team, no identity, no playing style, no risk taking, no formation twist. All we see from him is the aggression on the touchline. The standard of play even drop further. He tried Omoregbe for just few minutes and that is all.
How did we get here! Mr. Cardinali this is Milan not Toulouse FC
Sell Theo and Leao, and buy 4-5 players that Conceicao want. Lets build team surround the coach.
Milan now is Milan under Pioli’s team. So we must build new team under Conceicao.
Problem is that we have to many low iq players. Tomori, Theo, Leao, Musah, Chukwueze are just stupid. Fofana kind of also because he still shoots although he never gets a shot on goal. Get rid of all the stupid players and we will be fine.
Yes, Musah should have been an athlete. “Run to that spot. Go. ” would have been simple enough for him…
I still think you might be overestimating his IQ here.. 🙂
