AC Milan clinched their first trophy of the season as they came back from 0-2 behind to beat Inter 3-2 in Saudi Arabia. Several players were crucial for the Rossoneri, in particular three of them, and below are the ratings.
If you haven’t already, make sure to check out how we decide the player ratings. From the scale to what affects the rating, we have compiled everything there.
Starting XI
Maignan (7.5): Pivotal this evening, despite two goals conceded, as he made some very good saves. First on Dimarco in the second half, then on Augusto and finally on Dumfries. He was left completely alone on the goals conceded so he cannot be blamed there.
Emerson Royal (5): While he did have some positive attacking actions in the second half, the defending can only be described with one word and that is shocking. He was responsible for the first goal conceded, WALKING BACK despite Inter taking a quick throw-in. It’s something that we simply cannot allow. There were some more questionable defending after that too.
Tomori (5.5): It might sound harsh given Milan won the game, but like Emerson the defending just wasn’t good enough from the Englishman. There were huge gaps between him and Thiaw, as seen on the goal, and he wasn’t close enough to the strikers.
Thiaw (6): The German was also to blame for the second goal, without a doubt, but he did better overall compared to his colleague. A great block at the end confirmed this and this salvaged his rating here. That being said, we have seen much better games from him.
Hernandez (8): Possibly could have done better on the first goal, but the defence was all over the place because of how swiftly Inter made it happen. Throughout the game, he showed that the ‘old Theo’ is very much alive with great runs forward, as seen on the assist for Pulisic’s goal, and a great free-kick to bring Milan back into the game. GRINTA.
Musah (6.5): The American had some very good positioning throughout the game and managed to unlock several situations in attack with swift movement and good ball control. It was right to sub him off, given what the game needed, but he was quite good before that.
Fofana (6): He was responsible for many good interceptions but the passing certainly could have been better tonight. Conceicao has clearly given him the role to press high but it creates issues in defence, but we have to assume that is a tactical issue rather than an individual one. In other words, it won’t affect his rating here, but if it did he would get a 5.5.
Jimenez (5.5): It was a pretty anonymous display from him and the backpass that led to Inter’s goal wasn’t good, no matter how poor Emerson was after that. It was definitely right to sub him off, but he’s young and will continue to grow.
Reijnders (6): The Dutchman managed to create a couple of dangerous chances for himself but the final touch, i.e. the shot, wasn’t quite there tonight. Still, a decent display from him but like Fofana he also struggled in the defensive transition.
Pulisic (8): Clutch, as we have said so many times before. He did a lot better on the right and the goal was proof of his qualities, receiving the ball inside the box, creating some space, and finding the back of the net with a great left-footed finish. Then he set up Leao with a hockey assist, so he was involved in the winner (scored by Abraham).
Morata (6): He won back the ball which led to Theo’s goal, as Leao received it in a dangerous position and was fouled. The Spaniard did have a good chance with the head which he failed to convert, though, and perhaps a bit of composure was lacking in the box.
Substitutes
Leao (8): Talk about impact. He won the free-kick which Theo converted, played a great pass to Theo (for Pulisic’s goal) and then made the run and assist for Abraham’s winner. He’s so important and he has certainly started well under Conceicao.
Loftus-Cheek (6.5): He was needed at that time of the game as Milan lacked strength in the middle, and energy let’s be honest. He did well.
Abraham (7.5): Right place, right time. The rating is more or less only based on the goal, but given the importance I think it’s justified. He’s also a player that has started well under Conceicao.
Calabria (N/A): We didn’t see enough to give him a rating.
Now just wait for the clowns to come and tell you how Theo is the worst left-back in the world and how Leao is the worst winger in world 😂
Thank God Fonseca was not on the bench because with all due respect to all the players, specially Mike, Thiaw and Pulisic, this was impossible without Theo and Leao at their bests.
Exactly! They were even saying that Emerson is better than Theo XD
And by they you mean Z!
LOL
Why is it these new to football fans cannot grasp the difference between class and form?
It is imperative to do all you can to keep your class players and do all you can to help them be their best, that is how you win trophies!
New to football fans!!!
If you tell the truth about a player that actually person is a fanboy of you either a Inter fans or new to football fans.
Kid, Theo up until the 2nd half of today’s game has been by far Milan worst player this season. If you haven’t seen that it means that you don’t understand what you watch no matter how long you’ve been a Milan fan.
Your class player has to perform up too class im majority of the games, not once in a blue moon.
Exactly. I hope this is a turning point for Theo and he will get back to the player he was two years ago. But there’s no denying he has been sub par up until the second half.
I agree completely, he is a class player. He has been very poor this season
Change of coach and suddenly the star players are stars again. Coincidence? Not only this erratic management did a tremendous idiocy by hiring the loser Fonseca but they also waited six months to get rid of him. With a text message.
“Kid, Theo up until the 2nd half of today’s game has been by far Milan worst player this season.”
Fact.
So if you agree that he has been poor, why are you getting triggered when people say that he is poor where you even have the need to call out people after Theo finally played his 3rd good game this season from about 30 games Milan has played.
That’s desperate and pathetic.
The characteristics of a class player is that he performs on high level consistently, not only 10 % of the time.
this
Because you said he is rubbish, and was always overated and we should sell him
Absolutely, you are spot on, and to Add, Leao and Theo are simply Milan’s weapon of mass destruction the MVP for me today is Leao and always. Where are the wailing wailers?
With Fonseca they would have already been home after trailing Juve
Well Said.
Emerson deserves a 0, what a donkey
Imagine coming in here after just winning a trophy in an amazing game against Inter and only have a negative comment to say… Just shows a lot of the people here are not really rooting for the team to succeed.
It was a great win, heroics by Leao and Theo the two most scrutinized players this year. Emerson was HORRIBLE, you RedBird lovers refuse to acknowledge Cardinale and Co are clueless for recruiting this guy. How can you watch the game and not say wow, this dude is horrible?
Theo was also horrible in the first goal, Lautaro made fun of him. He is abysmal in defense
If you think Theo was the guilty party on the first goal you have no idea about football or defending. I mean zero.
It was firstly Jimenez and Emerson’s mistake. Then it was Thiaw who got turned but Lautaro did great anyway. Theo almost recovered and that tackle would stop the goal 9 out of 10 times but somehow it squirmed its way through the legs into the net.
Now Theo is susceptible to bad defending and has gave away cheap goals before but this was not one of them.
SMH
Really… Do you want to go over the countless horrible signings by Maldini that were so bad they couldn’t even get on the pitch. Meanwhile Emmerson, while not being a great signing has been the starter when we beat Real Madrid in Champions League and twice when we beat Inter this season. He’s been more useful than Origi, Bakayoko, Dest, Pellegri, Vranckx combined.
Was Cardinale and company clueless for signing our best player Pulisic? Or Reijnders? or Fofana? Or Tammy who just scored the game winner. SHut the F up and hate somewhere else .
Unfair criticism. You must be foaming with hate on Maldini. The players you mentioned combined cost less than Emerson. Bakayoko and Dest are just loan. And Dest was performing well in Netherlands.
“He’s been more useful than Origi, Bakayoko, Dest, Pellegri, Vranckx combined.”
he cost more than all those combined!
You do realise nobody with eyes or a brain is buying your sh1t. Go to sleep Jerry
Not unfair. He brought it up. The point is that everyone hits and misses with signings. But if your last name is Maldini you get a pass for everything.
Not to mention Bakayoko was one of the highest paid players on the team. And I think we are still paying for Origi and Ballo-toure.
Emmerson has not been great but he’s been good enough to start for some very big wins where as the other players I mentioned were not useful whatsoever and couldn’t even get on the pitch.
Minus CDK, Maldini was given Emersons entire budget+total salary to build an entire squad. And won the scudetto. Or did you forget all that.
Spending 15+ million on Emerson plus his “wages” is wayworse than anything Maldini did. The dude is not a footballer. Junior Messias (A RW and former delivery man) did better than Emerson as right back.
Also, the team struggles without Leao and Theo, as proven all season. Maldini signed them and Mike. Also some dude named Tonali? Might want to look into that.
Scrub.
@EAP. Another fool who doesn’t understand that the reason Maldini had less money to spend was because he let our most valuable players leave for free , time and time again like a complete amateur, but because his name was Maldini it’s OK. If this management did that they would be crucified.
And by Tonali you mean the mediocre midfielder who can’t even start regularly for a mid table Newcastle team? Reijnders and Fofana are both playing at a higher level than Tonali ever has or ever will.
Oh i spoke too soon. It’s OK, we get it now “”Thank Redbird. Thank Ibra” . Maldini sucks” you’re a biased pr!ck who pretends to know it all. On a day when Maldini’s signings helped us win a trophy you’re here spewing nonsense about the man’s work. You should thank him instead of hate him.
LOLOLOLOL……who the he’ll is this new DONKEY @K??
Is he @Boulden’s cousin? @Uberhulk’s uncle?
Hahahahahahahaha!
Go back to bed son the grow ups are talking now.
Amazing what a new coach who players actually want to play for will do. You know a coach with actual TACTICS and who won’t throw his players under the bus.
About time.
Now IF Gerry is serious about qualifying for UCL next season – he will open up the pocket books in January so we can sign a real RB and a STRIKER. Conceição plays with 2 strikers and we cannot have Carmada as our only back up.
IKWYDLS ha. I was wondering how long it would take for you to make a dumb comment.
I don’t know how many times I have to explain to you that when you are quoting someone and using “” quotation marks, you should quote accurately , otherwise you look like a dishonest fool. Never once said “Maldini sucks”, ever.
My original comments were all positive about the team and the performance.
Then I responded to these ignorant haters that come in here after Milan wins a trophy in an amazing game against Inter and only want to say something negative about the management or of course Emmerson.
And I think you meant to say On a day that the new management’s signings (Pulisic, Tammy) helped win the team a trophy, all they can do is trash the management, when they should be thanking them.😉
LMAO I can’t imagine what kind of a fool one must be to think Maldini can let club assets leave for free on his own. Like LOL. Every club director works based on the guidelines and the budget the club sets for him. I mean this is football knowledge 101. If any key players have left at any point because they were not paid enough it’s because the club owner has signed off on it.
@ Milan fan
I’ll explain it to you like you are a small child because that appears to be what you are. You don’t let your valuable players go into the final year of their deal without a new contract. Then you have no leverage whatsoever. If you want to keep them, you offer them a new contract before that with the best offer you can make. If they don’t take that offer than you sell them so you can afford to replace them. That is football management 101. That is what Maldini did not understand. And you either apparently.
You’re not a bright one and you can feign ignorance all you want but we all know you hate Maldini, call him names and said he was a terrible director whether you have explicitly or implicitly done so..who do you think you’re fooling on this site? You don’t have to say Maldini suck to say Maldini sucks. You do it all the time. Always highlighting the bad, never the good, something you definitely cannot say about me with this management. Your view is slanted, biased and full of hate for Maldini.
You’re responding to my someone who along with everyone except you says Emerson had a bad game and you bring up Maldini out of the blue. Never can isolate Redbird’s actions, always have to bring up something else to deflect. Maldini has nothing to do with Emerson’s bad game FYI. It’s always whataboutism thereby implying you agree that he’s a sh!t signing haha 😂. Redbird signed him, it’s a fact. But for you Mr. “Thank Redbird” it should be gravy. It goes totally against your view that Redbird as did Maldini signed players that did not pan out. But you keep grasping at straws to keep your worldview alive that Redbird can do no wrong mr Thank Redbird. Just like with Fonseca (you want me to quote that one again? 😉), same as you’re doing now. It’s so easy to see.
Plus, of all people to say ppl twist words YOU of all people shouldn’t be saying anything about that. Always straying away from the main points people make and brings up straw man arguments to deflect. “thank redbird” hahaha 🤣 thanks for making that crystal clear!
Take your whining outside we are celebrating over here
Nice strawman argument. Most fans said Emerson was garbage before he arrived, most fans have said he’s garbage since he’s arrived, he usually gets low ratings also why do you insist on embarrassing yourself? You don’t pay the slightest attention to what’s posted here, do you? Moncado wanted Emerson. It had nothing to do with the other people in management.
This is nothing new. The same so called fans complained about Elliot, until we won the scudetto. The same complaints about Americans, money ball, owners that were too cheap, about the coach etc etc.
This is not necessary,I know it’s ur opinion but trust me winning a football match is a team work thing ,and they all put in their best and trust me Emerson did the much he can and he deserve our support and respect …maldini did not bcom a star in just few games it took time and encouragement to get him there.put urself in Emerson’s shoes and u get to see this comment from a fan ,it’s discouraging ,let’s forget individual errors and enjoy the victory forza milan
Emerson is 10x times better than Calabria and for me that is more than enough
Emerson deserves a 10 for winning a trophy before Spurs have.
Bravo Emerson. XD
UNDEAFETED IN 2025 WITH A 100% WIN RATE.
To everyone thank you for this game. Yes it’s a meaningless title, but at let’s least celebrate the win which is a freaking derby against the most in-shape team in Italy this season (I don’t think I’ll be able to sleep tonight).
What’s inter’s excuse for tonight ?
Mr Conceição, thank you. I won’t dive deep about the tactics, because in the end he is still learning about the team. It will take time to develop it well and I hope he saw what the problems are. In the meantime, you gotta love the fighting spirit our players have shown tonight and his subs were pretty much on point.
Maignan: Pure and simple class. He saved many goals in many important moments. There was little he could do about the 2 goals which were mostly the defense’s fault.
Theo: Defensively there was still the same laziness, especially in the second half and I think he could have done better against Martinez. HOWEVER with the freekick and the assist, you gotta hand it to him. His critics often said he never had a contribution in the derby, now he has a goal and an assist and made Dumfries commit a foul.
Thiaw: There were many positioning problems on his side and allowed a silly goal, but he did win enough duels to keep us in the game.
Tomori: Got beaten way too often for my liking and same positional problems as Thiaw. However, as Conceição will work more on that, both might improve. Still prefer Gabbia over thim though
Royal: Easily the worst player tonight. Was lazy on the end of the first half and the goal was mostly his fault and was beaten in a silly manner in the second half which almost costed us a goal. Offensively, he has the creativity of a cone and all his long balls went to inter.
Fofana: Was decent in duels but interception wise he was like a butter and inter passes were like a hot knife and cut through him way too easily.
Reijnders: My man is like a sinusoidal curve. He is either great or trash and it was mostly the latter tonight.
Musah: In my opinion our best midfielder tonight and caused inter some trouble. However my man can’t shoot and can’t pass. We NEED another midfielder
Jimenez: For those who said he should be our RW what do you think? He has potential but still has a LOT of work to do. If he works on his defensive side, he can be a decent fullback.
Pulisic: He is starting to regain his sharpness. He is the player who ran the most tonight. When he was a LW, inter attacked mostly from Emerson’s side and when he got back to RW, they attacked mostly through their right or through the middle. Of course, there is the goal and a key pass to Leao. A candidate for MOTM.
Leao: Love him, hate him but NEED him. His sub had an immediate impact, was involved in every goal and got an assist and should have gotten one more. A bit of laziness defensively but also a candidate for MOTM.
Morata: not his best game and missed a good opportunity for an assist.
Abraham: He did what a striker should do, although it was too easy at that point.
RLC and Calabria: Didn’t see enough to judge.
Now onto serie A and UCL, Conceição has his work cut for him. These boys are motivated against inter, but lose sharpness against mid-table teams, let’s see how we handle it from now on.
Excellent analysis!
Far from a meaningless title – Winner get like 11M for the club – that goes a LONGGG way in January and Summer transfer windows it can totally change what you can afford
Conceiciao’s contract for the next three years cost less than the money we won here.
He basically paid for his own contract after just 2 games with Milan.
Well theo was the happiest that fonseca left i guess. What a performance. Kudos to everyone, especially to concecao. Where the hell has he been. That team spirit was superb tonight. Just give concecao the players that he needs this january window and he’ll bring in more joy. What a game.
Amazing match. Amazing performance and heart shown by all the players. We fought harder than Inter.
Trophy number 1 for Redbird. Many more to come.
Thank you Redbird. Thank you Zlatan. Thank you Concaceio.
Thank you Theo for finally showing up this season. If only Theo could play against Dumfries every match. It really brings out the best in him.
Leao was MOTM for me. He changed the game completely and was involved in every goal.
Most importantly, Thank you to Captain America, Pulisic for being the True leader of this time. Leading by example. Playing 2 games in 3 days coming off an injury, playing the full 90 and running more distance than any player on either side in both matches. And of course scoring the goals and setting up the game winner with a brilliant pass to Leao.
More trophies to come.
First of all, you and your friend “Z” need to shut the f*** up about Theo after all the disrespect. Same for Leao.
Secondly, thank you to Redbird… thank you Zlatan… way to confirm your clown status. What kind of a fool are ya?!
One good match from Theo doesn’t erase him completely sabotaging the coach and the team this season . Sorry.
ANd show me where I ever said anything bad about Leao? Know what you are talking about before commenting.
One minor trophy doesn’t erase Redbird sabotaging the team and season
Can’t you guys just enjoy the win/trophy and root for the team to keep progressing? I don’t understand this hating mentality at all. Do you guys even like this team? Or even this sport? It can’t be healthy to be walking around with all of that anger inside of you.🙏
Oh I’m enjoying it so much. And I like the team and its players/legends and I’m grateful to them unlike some SOBs in here who are constantly licking Gerry’s balls while at the same time insulting current and former players like Theo, Leao, Tonali, Maldini, …
In the space of two days the worst left-back in the world is suddenly the best left-back in the world again. Fools are asking to be exposed. I will never let this go.
I hear what you’re saying and even agree with most of it, but a lot of these people are just internet trolls trying to provoke people. They’re bored with catfishing people for relationships and have moved on to catfishing Milan fans. Most have probably never even been to a match let alone played the game.
Puli deserves more credit also in this match. Player of the tournament easily.
Exactly. Ran the most, scored a crucial equalizer and gave an absolutely perfect pass to Leao for the winning goal. MVP. In the match and the tournament.
Thank you RedBird??? Dude we’re in 8th place in the league, wake up.
FYI That trophy is for A.C Milan, not Redbird
“Thank you Redbird. Thank you Zlatan. Thank you Concaceio.”
Had they gone for Conceição since the summer when he was already available and almost asking to be picked by us instead of losers like Lopetegui and Fonseca MAYBE we wouldn’t have been in this mess in serie A, maybe. The only one I’m thanking here is Conceição.
Both Zlatan and Moncada should be dismissed by the end of the season.
I love all these phonies who were wanting Motta or Conte or Dezerbi to be our next manager. Now all pretending like they wanted Concaceio the entire time. Stop.
And I love how you deflect now that you’ve got no arguments, you made up imaginary ones and pretend to win against them.
All those you’ve just named are better than Fonseca or Lopetegui.
Conceição wasn’t the first name who came to my mind this summer but when the rumors came about him I was actually fine with that and I’ve been asking specifically for him pretty much since november.
I was actually against De Zerbi giving his poor defensive record but he’s doing pretty well with Marseille isn’t he ?
Conte is still fighting for the scudetto with a team that was 10th last season, so I don’t why you think you made such a good point bringing him. Conte wouldn’t have put up with Theo and Leao’s laziness btw.
The only one who hade a massive hype but is currently dissapointing is Motta but at least there was a good reason behind his hype.
Why was Fonseca chosen again ?
No your talking about true Milan fans who have standards.
Perhaps you might understand that Milan fans (us) wanted a coach with a proven record of winning. Conceicao was the winning most manager in Porto’s history (they are a very good club from Portugal who regularly do well in CL, including beating us. Portugal is a country in Europe)
Conte’s team in fact is in way higher table than us, even Motta. So anything but Fonseca was better than defending him every week.
Spot on
Why waiting until the end of the season. They should have been fired along with Fonseca.
I concede.
You’re right
Did you just say “Thank you Redbird. Thank you Zlatan” ?? LMAO 😂 😂 😂 😂 oh bow down to the great ones…where would we be without them and our mighty Super Copa trophy… oh worship and praise ye.
At least you finally stopped hiding your allegiances. Didn’t realize how much of a guzzling glazing birdie you were haha 😂. Man all it took was that one ‘massive’ trophy to really bring out the bird in you.
You could have saved all of us your arguments and tirades over the years by starting with those simple phrases so at least we know where you stand instead of pretending to approach your “a.nalysis” unbiased. At least with other people we can cut some middle ground
After only a week in charge, Sergio took this bunch and turned them into a team and made them believe again.
This Sergio guy is a real coach. He is the kind of coach who can deal with Inzaghi.
Imagine thinking Sh*t Zerbi or Motta could’ve done anything similar
Motta is being exposed at Juve. Sergio prepares a fast, combatative approach to the game. If some mercato is done the right way, I can see Milan become the stronger side in Italy. It is too early to be definitive, but the first signals from Sergio are promising. I expected us to win comfortably, but Sergio played it well.
Your comments are getting almost as old your team.
“I expected us to win comfortably, but Sergio played it well.”
You could say, inter was winning comfortably when we had Pioli, but now they were taken “out of their comfort zone”.
Pioli was probably too nice. Sergio is not a guy who settles with laziness and lack of spirit.
You do realize Conceicao literally showed up at the airport like a few days ago right? Exposed is an understatement. The team is still getting to know him.
Where is the hate for De Zerbi coming from?
Never infavor of Motta but always advocated for De Zerbi who have done well in Italy, Germany, England and have now turned a struggling Marseille who finished bottom half of the table last year in to a title contender sitting comfortably in second place. Not sure why people have such strong opinion of him?
Not saying we would have this result with him or not just saying this hate seem to be unwarrented.
Of course you are right but you are referring to the biggest troll on the site
I think teams are wary of him because he wants to do things his way without owners and Directors having a say in the style of football played and the players the team should sign. He also requests a large budget to sign players. None of these are bad things, it’s just not the model teams are going to anymore.
Great win tonight, didn’t expect it after going 2-0 down but immediately we scored our first goal, I knew we’d do it.
Having said that, we must touch on the negetive,
Tomori isn’t it, just like the writer said, he left too many spaces and for no good reason, Malik was alway defending alone and clearing balls.
Emerson isn’t an intelligent footballer and we should try to move him on, Jimenez should take his place. Emerson cannot wip in a cross to save his life coupled with his poor runs, lack of pace and inability to take on his man, the bar is too low for him.
But in a win of this nature, Foza Milan…
The worst part is watching Tomori constantly screaming at other players when he is the one making most of the mistakes. It’s growing tired.
It’s not a good look… I remember him screaming at that stand-in keeper we had every match, driving everyone crazy.
Yeah that was shocking at the time. I remember that well. Did nothing for the Romanian keepers confidence.
The screaming started after our scudetto triumph, I think. He became cocky and arrogant. He loses his man and starts shouting when his fault is glaring. Gabbia is a far more stable defender. Baresi was not lightning fast, but being at the right place at the right time is a key talent of a center back! Tomori does not possess such skills.
Yea, this was his audition but I think they’ll be going right back to Gabbia for Serie A.
Except it’s a different match I watched, Tomori want as bad as y’all are making him it to have been. Thiaw was the one who fell asleep for Lautaro’s goal and again allowed Taremi get goal side of him and score the second goal, NOT Tomori. Bar the missed tackle earlier in the match, methinks he had a pretty decent game.
Has he had issues in recent months? Yes. But blaming him for everything that went wrong in this match (and I’m specifically speaking about this match), really isn’t fair.
Today Tomori was decent and certainly deserves better than the 5.5 rating he was given. He was better than Emerson and Thiaw tonight and but were given higher ratings… Unfair.
Other papers/media outlets rated him higher than what he was rated here.
Thiago Motta said”Milan was lucky when they face Juventus” I hope he saw the final too and see how far our lucky bring us 😂🤫
Theo was MOTM closely followed by Leao. Keeping those two motivated is key and Concecaio is showing he can. What a great coach, he is a hybrid between Conte & Simone with his tactics & mental approach.
Now bad part, RB is shocking, rather see Calabria start there any day over Emerson. We also need a proper CF. Go for Jonathan David now to beat off competition or i hear we are talking to Leipzig on selling Okafor. Maybe ask for Sesko as part of the deal. Sesko would be a massive statement signing if we can make it happen. Also bring back Salesmakers at the end of the season. He would do great under the new system.
Emerson is 10 times better than Calabria. Some people have short memory
It seems there are delusional people here too. 😀 😀 😀 😀
Emerson isn’t even better than a trashcan.
Calabria is now the most successful Milan Captain/Vice Captain since Abate.
Probably our best match of the season, after the Real Madrid win. Masterclass by Conceicao, and tremendous spirit by everyone, in particular the Leao-Theo-Pulisic trinity. Wonderful.
People here will mention the second half, and rightfully so, but coach deserves credit also for the first half were we shut down Inter, like a proper serie a team. Inter’s goal was strange, some sort of confusion, and their second goal was poor defending on our part. But then Theo changed everything. And the rest is history.
Bravo Conceincao, bravo Milan. Well done.
Good ratings. Our best players were the usual suspects. And we lacked in the same positions. RB, DM, CF.
4-4-2 works, hope to see more of it. Also Jovic/Okafor might work just fine with two strikers system too.
In general we played good even when we were down we created a lot.
Tomori, lol. I hope he was playing these games only because Gabbia was dealing with the flu. Keystone Cops defending all over again. The dude is a headless chicken. Maybe try him at RB, but otherwise he can stay on the bench.
Anyway, great result. We REALLY needed this and hopefully it will relaunch us in the second half for the top 4. Fiorentina and Lazio dropped more points this weekend and Juventus is looking shaky. We can do it!!!
I have to agree, the defence looks much better with Gabia. Even Thiaw looks better with Gabia next to him. I wouldn’t give up on Tomori tho. Since Conciecao likes to defend with numbers and mids going in the back, it might be good to try Tomori as a DM. He is fast runs a lot and can tackle etc. He might work there.
What a game.
Unlike vs Juventus where they were more or less lucky, today they absolutely deserved the win.
Great 2nd half by Theo, Leao and Pulisic. If you want your team to be successful your top players need to perform and you can see what the team is capable of if they do.
2 goals conceded because Milan fell asleep, especially on the 1st goal. Emerson and Theo had their heads down while inter rushed the throw in. The 2nd goal was a copy of the goal they gave up vs Fiorentina.
Great goal by Theo, but that Pulisic 2nd goal was something else. And then the great combination on the Tammy goal between Pulisic and Leao.
2 games this seasons vs Inter 2 wins, which proves Pioli firing justified, even though it came a year too late. Both games Milan was better than Inter.
Sergio 2 games 2 wins vs Milan’s 2 biggest rivals.
Theo man of the match.
Now go get a midfielder and a fullback in the window and climb up the table and see if you can go as far as you can in UCL
Bro. This man took job, travelled to another continent where he orchestrated wins JUVENTUS and INTERNAZIONALE MILAN and won a trophy all within a week and with a flu to boot! I tip my hat to you Mr. Sergio Conceição! Forza Milan!!!!
Not really continent, more like 2000km but yeah he did an amazing job in just 5 days. Legendary.
Milan to Riyadh ia only 2000km away now? Lel.
Great win
Forza Milan
I’m so happy to see the team win a trophy! It’s great to watch a motivated team play entertaining football. Let’s support this coach by bringing in a proven right back; I would even consider Kyle Walker, as he would be a fantastic fit for Serie A and a winner.
Great match! Leao coming on totally changed the dynamics of the game.
Funn fact.. Emerson Rojal was the player with by far the most passes in the final third.
That’s probably because Inter let him have the ball… not like he did anything good with it.
Inter knew he can’t cross, make an intelligent pass or even defend, anything will go pass him. so they decided to let him have a field day.
This. The least dangerous player on this planet.
Lemme guess… They were all backwards to our own half?
Funny fact #2: Emerson shouldn’t be playing football for living.
Fact #3: Inter’s opener was 100% on Emerson who didn’t know there was a football match on-going.
So I guess Conceicao an idiot too because he is playing Emmerson over Calabria as well. I guess these professional football coaches who are coaching at the highest level just don’t know as much as you geniuses who are typing from your mom’s basement.
Can’t wait for you to be wrong on this one once more and as per usual. Glad the professional coach took Emerson off so that we can score that third goal or before a PK shootout because he knew he’d be useless. Phew.
Such an tool defending Emerson to your death knell. Laughable 😂😂😂
Exactly!!
Well done…the fighting spirit is commendable…early days but the new coach looks like he can turn things around for us. Forza…
Winning this supercup is just a bonus, the real prize is seeing all those merda players & coach downcast, and the disappointment on all their faces after they were 2 goals up
Leao / Theo (welcome back)
Conceição (10)
Inter’s expressions after the whistle (11)
Conceicao is a mentality monster!
I don’t know which I enjoyed more, the happy Milan players or the crying SOBs (Snake, Crybaby-Barella etc). But what I do know is that is was soooo beautiful.
I don’t want to carried away but this is a fantastic start for Conceicao, two comeback wins against our rivals and a trophy. Hopefully the Theo hate stops now. He has been having a bad season but after playing so well for so many many many games, he was bound to have a slump, both physically and mentally. He came up big tonight as did Mike, Pulisic, and Leao. I would add Thiaw to the list considering what he was against. We know the team can put in solid performances as seen in the first derby and against Madrid. The issue has been consistency and lack of goals from our strikers. Pulisic, Leao, Reijnders, and Fofana can’t play every minute of every game. Luckily Bennacer, Loftus-Cheek, and Musah are back to take a load off some of the load off in midfield but this team isn’t built for a long Serie A race.
That being said, top four and Coppa Italia are within reach. Then, in the summer Conceicao can make the changes needed to the squad.
You forgot to add a few more manys to the “many many many games”. How quickly people forget the last say 4-5 seasons and what he’s capable of
I just can’t get over how good Leaos pass to Abraham was for 3-2. If he actually intended that pass to go into the ground and bounce over Bisseck it’s pure genious. For me Leao is MOTM solely because of that pass.
Overall it was a great match to watch. Two evenly matched teams that took the match seriously. I wonder if the players would have celebrated this much if it would have been a final against Juventus or some other team instead?
I know I wouldn’t because it’s more the win over Inter that feels good for me and the manner we did it instead of the title itself.
You can suck Conceicao’s jock after this match, but the difference between Fonseca and him was Pulisic. He was BY FAR the best player of this MM tournament and it is no coincidence the worst part of Fonseca’s slump was without him. Let’s be serious for a moment and think that in less than 10 days Conceicao cannot do miracles
No need to go into this discussion now, but the energy around the team is evidently better. Is sudden shift in performance and mood of Theo and Leao also a miracle? Cause they played their best football of the season tonight.
That means our players are children and not professionals. Look how Pulisic performed under both coaches… and how Theo/Leao are irregular as shEEt. One swallow does not make a summer so let’s see if they perform well most of the matches
I agree with this. Plus Leao was fresh off a spell on the sidelines, and he’d been playing well for the month prior to his injury anyway. It’s not like Conceicao’s arrival suddenly made him a different person. Meanwhile Theo had a below average game against Juventus. People are going nuts and losing context. We were still down 2-0 in this game. Of course I’m happy about the result and the trophy, and the performances (mostly) over the last couple of games, but the hard work starts this weekend back in Serie A. We have to make 4th and to do this we need to start winning regularly and our players need to perform consistently. Time will tell if all of this is for real, or if it was a flash in the pan.
Conceicao is a legend! Erect that man a statue. First two games in charge, against Juventus and Inter, and he beats both coming back from goals down. Wins a trophy.l right away.
I mean wow.
Well, against Juve Milan were bad. Without Juve throwing the game away with silly errors, Milan would have lost. They did not do enough to score a goal without help.
On the other hand tonight they played well, and Sergio’s hand was visible. He got things right and played it well. I did not expect him to be so good tonight.
Inter fan, are you bitter from your loss, and to feel better you need to say that Milan were bad against Juve? That was actually not true. It was a tale of two halves. They had a better first half, we had a better second half. They pounced on a defensive mistake we made in first half, and we pounced on a defensive mistake they made in second half. Then we did get lucky with a deflection but if you look at the global stats both halves considered, actually we were superior to Juve in ALL of them, except that they had a negligible higher possession percentage (51-49). We had more attempts, more corner kicks, way more duels won (58% to 42%), better number of passes and better passing rate, and higher expected goals. No, we weren’t brilliant, but no, we weren’t bad and certainly weren’t worse than Juve, much the opposite.
And today, again, you guys pounced on two silly defensive mistakes we made, while our goals were way better constructed (that is, you were luckier to have scored two, than we were to have scored three), and we really outplayed you, and Conceição outcoached Inzaghi, too, by making the necessary halftime adjustments, which made us play a much better second half, unlike you.
In first half we weren’t any worse. We made some mistakes, you also did. We had some opportunities, you also did. The only first half difference is that Reijnders wasted our best opportunity while Lautaro didn’t waste your best opportunity. Otherwise the first half was very balanced.
And in second half, we were just… BETTER. Period, full stop. Like we were better in this season’s first derby, despite our mediocre coach at the time.
But sure, if it makes you more comfortable, do bash Milan against Juve. But don’t think we can’t see why you are doing that.
Oh, and seeing how discombobulated our players were at the end of the match, was PRECIOUS.
Man let’s be real, Milan were poor against Juve, 1st shot on target was over an hour in and then we got lucky with both goals.
Tonight was a very different performance, one to be proud of
Milan were much better in second half. The second half stats are way better for Milan than for Juve, despite the late first shot on target. We ended the game with the same number of shots on target, and more overall attempts. And like I said, more duels won, more corner kicks, more accurate passes.
You can’t gauge a game until the final whistle. Yes, we started poor but finished strong, and OVERALL our stats were consistently better than Juve’s. People overestimated the idea that we were poor. It was a performance curve that went up and up and by the final whistle, we had outperformed Juve.
And we definitely outcoached Juve. Our subs had an immediate impact while Juve’s subs made them play worse. Conceição, 4 days after he got the team, outcoached Motta who had had Juve’s team for six months.
Remember, Juve under Motta had NOT lost ANY game against an Italian team, until we beat them. They are no pushovers. It was a difficult game. We weren’t as poor as people pretend.
It wasn’t just luck.
OK, so it was luck that Locatelli clipped Puli? Sure, but their only goal was also a lucky break on a silly defensive mistake. It’s not like they did much better, overall.
And that PK happened in the context of Milan’s pressing and attacking a lot more than in the first half.
I acknowledge that our second goal was a lucky break, but I firmly believe that we’d have scored anyway if that one hadn’t happened, as we were dominating the game in second half.
Agree. We created the “luck” in the second half – goals like that are what happens when you take the game to the opponent.
You’re missing the point – Milan came back from trailing in both games. They didn’t give up, they didn’t throw in the towel. They battled.
Under Fonseca we would have given up even before taking to the field. That garbage and attitude won’t fly under Conceicao.
Agreed on that. I am curious to see how Milan will do in the Serie A now on. They will certainly be much more competitive with Sergio.
It’s funny – once Theo scored had a feeling Sergio was going to turn the whole game upside down. 👏

The Super Cup is either Inter’s or Atalanta’s, more likely and hopefully the former’s. Juve players are still learning to play under Thiago Motta, while Milan are a mess.”
I opened a bottle of champagne called “the tears of my enemy” to toast on this lovely occasion. Karma is indeed a B.

Goodbye MILF and hello BBC (Big Boss Conceiçao)
I know the last letter is Fonsy, But, what does MILF mean?
When I watched the Roma match, the team had no direction and I was tired of Fonseca. The team was playing without direction and ambition.
Although they will still have their rough patch too but at least they will fight for the jersey and also not play like they careless.
Breath of fresh air
Mister Conceição deserves a score of 10. What other coach comes into a mess of a squad, works for one weak, and beats the club’s two biggest rivals to win a trophy??? Like someone here said, he has already made a collection of wild cats into a real team, that more than matched Serie A’s best oiled machine which has had the same coach for years. This is remarkable.
The official rater here is completely wrong about Thiaw. He prevented several goals. While he had some responsibility in one of Inter’s goals, it’s impossible to do it 100% of the time when you’re basically the only defender who is performing at a high level. Thiaw thwarted attacks by Lautaro twice, by Taremi once, by Frattesi once, and two others I don’t remember by whom; all 6 could have been goals for Inter. I grant him a score of 8 as we’d have lost the game if not for him. So you have some responsibility for one goal conceded but you save six, and you still get barely a passing score by the official rater here? Preposterous.
Mike, no responsibility for Inter’s goals, and 3 essential saves. 8
And Fofana was bad at passes? The rater missed some pretty good passes he produced, and he also dispossessed Lautaro in superb faction in an attack that could have been a goal for Inter, and even doubled in as right back at one point. Very helpful to the team. 7.5
Reijnders, missed a sitter that was akin to a PK, 1 v 1 versus a Sommer deep in his goal with Tijjani being around the mark; managed to waste it right. Missed another one in the near post. Was unlucky when Bastoni saved with his head a certain goal (which would have been an assist by Rafa). 5.5 that would have been a 5 without the near goal, but not enough for a pass.
Musah – very decent. 6.5
Tomori, several blunders and had responsibility for the second goal, in which he had a bigger failure than Thiaw’s. 4.5
Emerson, abysmal. Didn’t do anything right and got beat in their first goal; all his crosses were wrong. Deserves no more than a 3 and was our worst player. We really need another RB in this winter Mercato; I hope Conceição is seeing it and puts pressure on management.
Theo, relatively bad first half with some responsibility in Lautaro’s goal, but phenomenal second half, contributing with a goal and an assist. 7.5; would have been an 8.5 if we only rated him for the second half. Great to see Theo performing again!
Jimenez, another poor game. Not an effective right winger. Had some defensive actions that were half decent but doesn’t get a pass especially because he got the error that started Inter’s second goal. 5
Pulisic, class act as usual. What a player! 8,5, goal + assist
Rafael Leão, clearly the MOTM as he played less than one half but participated in all 3 goals. He won the game for us. That deserves not less than 9. How do you rate someone who comes in, the team is losing 2-0 to the biggest rivals, and he participates in 3 goals to bring us the 3-2 victory and a trophy??? Granting him less than 9 is criminal. I wonder where are the idiots who think he should be sold.
Morata, good effort. 6.5
Abraham, scoring a winner against Inter to clinch a trophy qualifies as 7.5, for sure even if it was the only participation he had, but that’s what a strike is for, being at the right place and at the right time.
RLC added some needed physicality when Inter were growing and having more legs; gets a bit more than a pass, 6.5
Calabria, no vote as he played very little; didn’t do anything wrong, though.
I’m in tears. This was great. Best game of the year involving two Italian teams, and we came on top. Precious.
Absolutely agree with your ratings
Rater was poor with all due respect (sorry Sempre). For me Theo MOTM but easily can agree with Leao too esp after the way you explained it
Thiaw had some crucial interceptions..
Yeah, Tomori fell asleep on that through ball. I think Gabbia would have been paying attention and stopped the play.
I hope the Gabbia-Thiaw pairing makes a return, and that Tomori played in these two games only because Gabbia was sick.
Conceição is making a big mistake if he thinks Tomori is better than Gabbia.
Go back and watch. Thiaw was on Taremi and Tomori was on Lautaro. Tomori tried to help Thiaw but Taremi still scored.
I really don’t know why y’all are so interested in bashing Tomori. He was way better than anything y’all or SM posted the last two matches.
Even if the Super Coppa is the smallest of the competitions we are participating in it was an immense win considering we was 2-0 down and still managed to prevail in the end.
Hopefully this win will help us gain confidence and momentum for the second half of the season and maybe even backfire a bit for Inter. As already pointed out by some commenters it was a real pleasure to behold the Inter players faces after their loss but overall a well deserved win for us.
Their faces were worth more than the 9mil we won..
I’ll be convinced things have changed if they beat Cagliari this weekend
Haha – that’s the worry.. they’ll be knackered and Cagliari will be playing like it’s a Champions League final…
We were lucky v Juve but there were some signs of positive change.
Tonight we were great, the best I have seen in a long time.
All we can ask is to play at least to the level of the players we have and we have some good ones and some not so good.
It’s a shame it took us until January to get the kind of coach we needed but hopefully now we can aim high! Top 4, coppa Italia and who knows, if our stingy owners spent a few euro on transfers we could have a good run in CL too.
Mike was a leader
Theo was back, which is huge for this team.
Thiaw – brave
Tomori – wild, he would be better in a back 3
Emerson – I would rate 0, he losses the ball every time he gets it. The worst player I have ever seen in a Milan jersey
Fofana worked hard, not his best
Tiji – not his best, I hope he can continue his good season in this new system
Jimenez – great attitude
Pulisic – a leader, a worker and effective (despite still not looking his best (misplaced several crosses).
Musah – He was HUGE for us tonight. Bravo
Morata/Tammy – they work hard but are ordinary. Just look at how Lautaro could turn our defence inside out, we need a proper striker.
Leao – He came on with fire in his belly (though lucky not to get carded)
He was devastating and tore Inter apart over and over. MOTM
RLC – as usual, couldn’t be spotted
Coach – 10
New job, illness, injuries, tough opposition, an unhappy team. How did he do it?
I agree with most of your comments.
Tomori – plays well for 95% of the game but always has one or two critical errors that end up costing us.
Theo – I need to see 3 or 4 matches in a row where he plays well before I determine he’s back in form.
Emerson – similar to my comment on Tomori just with the percentages reversed.
RLC – played better and was an intimidating presence. I think the new coach may get the biggest improvement from him out of anyone.
Morata – waste of space. Didn’t even realize he was playing in the first half.
Agree on the Tomori comment. Makes some mistakes each game but for the most part he’s decent. Still dunno why everyone makes him out to be the worst of the worst. He certainly had a better game than Jimenez, Emerson or Morata.
Theo, “la Gazzella”, was the key, he was allowed to play higher up the pitch like how Deschamps uses him sorta like a 3-4-3 even though declared 4-3-3. Has the speed, talent and strength to impose his will on a defender. Probably from playing as a youth against his brother. Leao is always marked by two but not when Theo is in the mix. Big advantage with Pulisic being great with both feet. Followed Pulisic early on but he is at a higher level when healthy, we got lucky with him ,.Feel sorry for Conseca, the metaphor , ” can lead horses to water, but can’t make them drink” applied to him. Feel better about the world tonight. Champion League not an illusion anymore .
Emerson 5/10….or as K would rate him 10/10 lol 😂🤣🤣
We didn’t see Calabria enough to give him a rating? Sure. But we should check out on route to the winning goal what he did…. the pass and the movement wide to create the space for the pass 👌
Theo or Leao MOTM for me (probably the latter). Brilliant, just brilliant from the “lazy ones”.
That comeback was beautiful. 2 wins vs Inter and the look on their faces ….priceless 😂😂😂
Yes, everybody who said “Calabria didn’t see enough to rate” needs to re-watch the entire sequence of that last Milan score.
A long diagonal crossing pass was made to switch the ball, going to Calabria.
Calabria made a short pass to Pulisic, then immediately made a diagonal run forward and wide, influencing some three Inter players to move wide with him.
Leao then made his late sprint forward into the space which Calabria’s run had opened up.
Pulisic saw the open space and passed to the space (Leao was actually on the other side of the Inter defender when the pass was made)
Leao beat the Inter defender to the pass, which was perfectly weighted, chopped a short cross to Abraham for the tap in.
Someone who actually watched the game with both eyes open! Well said!
BINGO!!! if people watched back that sequence as you said the switch out to him and then he took enough players out wide for Puli to get the thru ball to Leao… brilliant!! But it took everyone to get that right especially Calabria. And they say he’s ineffective going forward lol
Btw the initial switch out to him, give credit to the passer too (RLC?) because Inter’s defence was pulled to the right and he recognized that (it would have been easier to punt to Theao)…for obvious reasons they were right slanted as they are worried about Theo and Leao making a late run down that flank than Calabria down the other side. So Calab made the best of the space he got. Noticed when the ball switches across, their defence was still trying to get setup back towards the left and the timing of his run was just perfect because they were starting to lineup and he took enough confused players with him to make the space and high/not deep enough that it doesn’t impede Leao’s run. Excellent setup!
Finally someone noticed👏
But haters don’t want facts.
Calabria is BACK. We need someone to replace Emerson. We have him.
Fantastic stary for Sergio, hope we can keep this desire and play thru the rest if the season. Good to see guys like Theo and leao starting to get back to the form we expect. Hopefully this was good learning for Sergio too, seeing that Gabbia is definitely the CB we need to start, not Tomori. And that Emerson should never again be the starting RB, he is easily every game the weak link teams abuse. Love the desire to comeback from 2-0 to win, but we simply can’t do that every game. Calabria Terra or Jimenez are all better options to play RB. Hopefully he’s seen that too these past matches. Now time to focus on the league and getting back to top 4. Forza Rossoneri
Love reading all the Backhanded compliments about Pulisic. Most hated player in europe.
the Pubchat here was nothing but Backhanded compliments about him.
Seriously man, this kind of pathetic
What a game! For the first in a long time, most Milan fans believed that we could still comeback, even with 2 goals down. The team played as one, despite some errors here and there. Inter really played well. Won’t be surprised if the prize money for this cup is increased significantly, after the display tonight. It must be really painful for Inter players and fans. What else do they have to do to beat Milan? I hope Milan can build on from this. Congrats, guys.
This rating‘s are totally false, dont be biased cause you are american‘s, how you can rate Musah higher then Thiaw or Fofana haha what a bone of a Rating this is Indeed.
…
I don’t think Isak Möller is American. When he rates Americans low he’s accused of being anti American and when he gives them higher marks he’s called American 🤣🤣🤣 make it make sense.
A truly memorable turnaround for us, with a really wonderful football display by the boys on the second half. Pulisic being Pulisic, that is to say, always an intelligent and technically gifted player, a veritable asset for us, The again devastating on the attacking phase and Rafa showing the obvious, that he’s our best player. Conceição too is showing great qualities.
What a great win by Milan but Milan best player is Pulisic. His extra effort in both games led to goals.
Coming from behind Locatelli to earn and score a penalty and tracking an inaccurate Hernández pass for the tying goal today with a great finish on his weak foot.
Puli is great. Indeed he is our best player, I agree. But it doesn’t stretch imagination to call Rafa a co-best player together with Puli.
Ever since Puli was purchased by Milan, his number of goal participations (goals + assists) is exactly equal to Rafa’s. Last season Puli had one fewer than Rafa (something like 29 for Rafa and 28 for Puli) and this season so far Puli is one ahead, 13 for him versus 12 for Rafa (up to last game they were equal at 11; Puli got to 13 today while Rafa got to 12). So exactly 41 for each ever since Puli was hired. Pretty even, huh?
Today, Puli and Rafa again showed why they are our two best players. Puli had a goal and an assist. Rafa had an assist and instrumental participation in both the other two goals (although they don’t officially count as an assist; but if you watched the goals, earning the PK, and strongly participating in the triangulation for the other one, were indeed very helpful). Not to forget, Inter were very lucky when that shot by Reijnders on a cross by Rafa weirdly hit Bastoni’s head with Sommer beaten. If that ball hadn’t hit Bastoni, we’d have won 4-2 and Rafa would have collected another assist. But we don’t even need to count that hypothetical because what did happen was enough for the victory. Rafa could have had 4 goals partially to his credit; the fourth one didn’t happen by Inter’s sheer luck, but he still had three which was enough to win.
We all know that you hate Rafa, but it’s still surprising that on a day when Rafa helped us score all three goals that resulted in our victory against our biggest rivals by 3-2 with a trophy to boot, you still go out of your way to counter someone else’s justified idea that Rafa is our best player. Who is better, Rafa or Puli? It’s a matter of opinion given that their production is pretty much equal, objectively speaking.
Me, I call him AND Puli our two co-best players, and I don’t really care if Puli or Rafa are considered to be slightly ahead of each other. I love both. That’s not even important. What is important is that both continue to contribute to the team.
Look, Puli is great and I love him, but while Puli played the whole game, it took Rafa coming in (for less than a full half), and coming in when we were behind 0-2, to transform the scoring and get us to win 3-2.
Another thing that is easy to see is that Puli’s best position is right winger, and it took Rafa coming in as left winger to free Puli to go back to his best position. Puli clearly improved after Rafa came in, which is something that Puli himself states in interviews. He knows that not only Rafa as LW allows him to be on his best side, but also, he is freer when Rafa is playing and attracting markers. Puli said it himself in all letters in one of his interviews. So, the very man you like so much (I like him too) acknowledges and recognizes how good Rafa is and how much Rafa helps him. Why? Because Puli has very high football intelligence and he sees Rafa’s quality. I can’t say the same for all posters here, regarding football intelligence, LOL. Mind you, there are even people who think we should sell Rafa… Erm… people like… LOL, you know what I mean.
Put your hatred aside for a moment and enjoy BOTH excellent players who combined to win us this game. A shout out to Theo too who was also instrumental. Great stuff. No need to hate on any of our best players.
I agree Leão is our best player but Pulisic’s best position is LW. Leão’s ability to beat his man off the dribble draws a lot of attention and Pulisic knows how to make himself available for a pass and is clinical in front of goal. If we had a world class (Leão is Pulisic is not) RW Pulisic would do the same things or better on the LW. Like you I love both of them and glad they are both Milan players.
He is lazy and doesn’t work like Pulisic does. I didn’t say he didn’t contribute but Puli is better and does more for the team. And I didn’t say he was dumb, I said he wasn’t as intelligent as Puli. Don’t put words in my mouth. Also Pulisic has 15 goal contributions this season. Not 13.
Stats said that Pulisic was once again the player who ran the most yesterday. Same old story each week.
Yeah Pulisic is the best player on this team hands down. Leao has raw talent and speed and can change a game but he’s not as intelligent, consistent, or as hard working as Puli. Plus Puli is a much better finisher.
Despite being so dumb, lazy, a poor finisher, and inconsistent player like you think, Leão, ever since Puli was hired by Milan, has had the EXACT same number of goals + assists that Puli had: 41 for which. Weird, huh?
While Rafa is definitely more irregular than Puli, by season end things tend to even out, and he produces as much for the team as Puli. I love both.
Not 13.
Stop with the lazy thing. It’s highly prejudicial. He’s been working hard. He came back from injury and produced the scoring opportunities for all 3 goals.
As for Puli, you are right this season (more on this, soon). I reviewed the stats and indeed his total is 15, now. Great. I love Puli. I just don’t like how people hate Leão and I find it quite incredible that someone who PRETENDS to be a Milan fan, after Leão creates the opportunities for all 3 goals that earned us the trophy, still says that he is lazy, less intelligent, can’t finish well, etc.
OK, now, get this: I underestimated Puli’s total this season but overestimated it last season.
Leão has 12 now. Last season, 27. Total since Pulisic was hired, 39.
Pulisic, 24 last season. 15 this season. Total since he was hired, 39.
So, the lazy, less intelligent, poor finisher, since Puli was hired, produced the exact same goal participations as Puli, like I said. Haha.
I just thought that both had 41 each when both had 39 each. The point stands.
You are blind. Your hatred blinds you.
Lazy and less intelligent, right? (Despite having the SAME number of goals + assists as Puli, ever since Puli was hired – see the corrected numbers; 39 for each).
Two stereotypes… the black guy is called lazy and less intelligent (despite his production being exactly the same as the white guy).
Bravo. You are doing great.
Ryan, I don’t think Luigi knows what the word “lazy” means.
BB agreed. Oh well. He basically claims I’m being racist because I said he’s lazy and Puli is better. Both of which are true.
You’re not only a racist but a hater too!! Like everyone else who criticizes Leao.
I never followed Serie A. Usually watched Premier League. With couple of American players playing in Serie A, I started watching Serie A. Now I am hooked. I think overall this is good for Serie A. There is a big market for Serie A in the US. I effectively have stopped watching Premier League, and now my do to sports feed is Serie A. This was a fun game to watch.
In terms of reinforcements, our main task is really the RB position. Emerson Royal is a liability and Calabria has past its prime. IMHO we shoud focus our main efforts on signing a top class RB, the rest comes after.
Calabria had a prime? that has to be a great joke
You’re a joke and clearly just started following Milan since sh1tbird took over
Have you even watched Milan before ?
As Ibra once famously put it
“Today Milano is red and black!”
Great win by a team who was motivated to perform. Knew Leao was on today when he shoved baby Barella in the chest, don’t usually see that aggression from him.
Find it ironic we are playing Cagliari next game given the comments made after the big win in Madrid.
Cagliari is a big test to see if this team can continue to find the motivation to perform.
Credit to the coach for finding solutions so quickly.
Today is a good day to be a Milan fan.
Calabria should get a rating, his run created the space for Leao to run into for the last goal.
forza milaan viva concecao viva zlato viva tammy thank u !!!
Instant classic! MOTM should be a three way tie. Leao, Theo, and Puli changed this game and they all deserve it. I’m hoping Gabbia didn’t play because he was sick because Gabbia-Thiaw pairing has been really good and Tomori didn’t look great. Milan just needs an RB and a striker upgrade and to me the starting 11 would be complete.
Mike
New rb, Gabbia, Thiaw, Theo
Musah, Reijnders, Fofana
Pulisic, New striker, Leao.
Anyways great game and tourney and hopefully will be the kickstart to an amazing 2nd half of the season. Also it was pretty funny when Dumfries shrugged off Emerson.
“MOTM should be a three way tie. Leao, Theo, and Puli changed this game and they all deserve it.”
Yes I can buy that! Makes the most sense!!
Emerson needs to be benched. Period. He is too much of a danger to the team when he is on the field. They should start looking at potential buyers, as well.
Fofana deserves more credit than he got. He is always involved, even if he isn’t always doing things perfectly.
Viva Milan!
Why waste time on looking for a buyer??? NO ONE would pay a dime for him. Every club in the world already has a better RB. Even the lower division clubs in Albanian 6th division.
Pulisic’s best position with US national team is LW as he works really well with Antonio Robinson. But for some reason him and Theo don’t click at Milan when Puli is a LW and I agree his best position with Milan seems to be RW.
are you talking about Antonee Robinson?
Yep
Congratulations to the Rossoneri and their new head coach for winning the Supercoppa Italiana. Hopefully, this wonderful achievement will give the team a much-needed fillip and inspire it to perform better in Serie A, climb up the table, and secure a Champions League spot for next season. The club’s owner deserves credit for removing the mediocre Paolo Fonseca as head coach and replacing him with the charismatic Sergio Conceicao, who clearly should have been appointed last summer. Better late than never, I suppose! However, the owner must not now draw the wrong conclusions from the unexpected success in the Supercoppa and do nothing more to right the ship. It’s one thing to win two matches played within a few days of each other to triumph in a cup tournament; it’s another to grind out results week in, week out, over a period of many months against all manner of opponents and be victorious in a grueling league competition such as Serie A. The miracle in Riyadh hasn’t suddenly fixed all of the Rossoneri’s chronic shortcomings on the pitch; but rather, it has bought the owner more time with deeply disillusioned supporters to make further course corrections to improve the team’s performances. This means, amongst other things, that stars such as Captain America, Leao, Theo, Maignan, and Reijnders must be retained – not sold off to wealthier clubs abroad; the squad needs to be strengthened with strong, resilient, skillful athletes who can be relied upon to perform consistently and creditably over the course of a Serie A campaign; and crocks and other obvious duds need to be ruthlessly culled. The owner must act wisely and invest in the team to achieve footballing success sooner rather than later; his economic goal must be to achieve long-term, not immediate, financial gain. What he needs to understand is that AC Milan isn’t just a valuable commercial asset, like a factory, real estate property, or fashion business, but also a cultural institution in which millions of people in Italy and around the world are heavily invested emotionally. He mustn’t act foolishly and do things that may sever the visceral attachment of these fans to a storied club that not so long-ago ruled world football, by reducing it to a second-rate outfit competing only for minor prizes and serving as a feeder for clubs higher up the food chain. Finally, I believe the owner needs to display more cultural sensitivity by making sure the team has a core of at least two or three top Italian players. Milan is one of the world’s great cities and AC Milan is a global brand. It’s appropriate therefore that the club should engage the services of the best players on the planet, regardless of their nationality, in its quest for primacy. But AC Milan is also a club founded and based in Italy. If it doesn’t have any Italian players in its team, why should it remain in Italy? Why not relocate it to, say, Switzerland, Saudi Arabia, or the US? AC Milan without any Italian players becomes an amorphous entity without any discernible local identity. I’m not Italian and don’t live in Italy; but I love Italian culture. One of the reasons I’ve followed the Rossoneri for over 60 years is that they have been essentially Italian in their make-up on the pitch, whilst also possessing very desirable multi-national characteristics. I was disappointed there were no Italian players in the team’s starting line-up in the Supercoppa final.
Great post. However, I still find that your idea about Italian players is a bit exaggerated. First of all, Gabbia didn’t play most likely exclusively because he has been very sick with the flu. Many consider him our best defender and I’m sure Conceição will notice him and utilize him once he is back to full health. Second, Calabria came in and participated in the third goal and was given the captain armband once he came in. He also had a long injury time. Third, we have emerging young Italian players who are very good and have featured for the first team recently such as Camarda and Liberali. Zeroli is also a good player who has played for the first team; not lately because of an injury. Terracciano although I don’t think he is good, has played very frequently and even as a starter. Bartesaghi has played for the first team too. Our second and third goalkeepers are Italian; Sportiello is decent as a backup; hasn’t played much due to the severe hand injury he suffered. Even the very young third goalkeeper, Torriani, has played well for the first team.
See, I just quoted not one, not two, but 9 Italian players who have featured for the first team this season. All 3 senior ones have had significant injuries; the 6 young ones are coming around.
I agree with everything else you said, but I think we’re fine regarding Italian players; it’s just a question of age; most of our Italian players are still very young but they are coming down the pipeline. Also remember that we are apparently making an effort to hire Ricci; if we achieve it, he is perfectly good to be a starter.
Remember too that the current management was able to start Milan Futuro where the overwhelming majority of players are Italian. That means that they are willing to invest in our young Italians.
I do blame the managers for a number of blunders, the biggest one being not hiring Conceição in the summer, and going for the mediocre Fonseca. But I don’t blame them for a perceived lack of Italians (which like I demonstrated, is actually not true).
And by the way, I’m Italian.
I forgot to mention Florenzi. Make it 10. Unfortunately Florenzi had a devastating injury, otherwise he’d be playing because he is certainly better than Emerson Royal. Unfortunately, given that he becomes a free agent right after the end of his rehabilitation, we’ll likely lose him, but if he hadn’t suffered the injury, he’d be playing, for sure.
Well said Luigi. I’m always chuckling to myself when people whine about a lack of Italian players. Milan had always and will always be an international team that plays in the Serie A. Ans like you so very clearly pointed out, despite the fallacy many folks like to believe, there are a fair number of Italians in the squad.
And I’m not Italian but you seem to have missed a problem with the lack of QUALITY Italian players in the team: UCL rules for foreign players.
Because we almost never purchase an Italian player we had to have a smaller squad for the UCL and also sell/loan some players in order to accomodate the quote (Adli, Kalulu and Jovic isn’t in the list).
Are you aware right now that if we were to purchase another non-italian we have to sell one of our current non-italian players in order to register him in the UCL list ?
And it’s not like the players we purchased are so good and so much better than any Italian player in the same position.
Emerson is crap. He can’t defend evenbif hia life depended on it. He is constantly reading the game wrong, he is playing like a schoolboy running upfield but failing to get back.
Soooooo many goals we received from the right this season. Calabria is so much better. I don’t get it. Why did they bring him?
Hope to get rid of him soon…
It was a gift to the fans by Fonseca. Something to remember him by.
And no, we won’t be getting rid of Emerson until his contract runs out. Our only hope is that Conseicaio actually understands football and benches him permanently. If he doesn’t, maybe he should quit coaching and leave it the professionals.
This is the difference between a coach that wins trophy and a coach that doesn’t. Conceicao is a winner. Let us think about class vs form and let it sink in. Well done Mila n.
Tuttosport:
“Leao entra e accende la luce con le sue giocate da fuoriclasse puro: l’ultima ha regalato ad Abraham un pallone solo da spingere in porta”.
I enjoyed that.
The team reminded me of Pioli’s Milan in its prime tonight, especially after Leao came in; A bit Unbalanced, taking risks, 1v1 at back…but you just know absolutely any team any defense in world can get it at any time. We just need Theo and Leao to get their shit right, and a serious gritty finisher in the box (cue Tonali, Giroud, Pulisic).
That’s all I ask from Concecaio I think. Put our best players in the position (mental and tactical) to be their best, don’t tame them. Then add the elements missing; grit (they’re already showing signs of that), more steel-iness in the middle (Fofana is not Kessie but he’s doing well so far), and belief. Not fighting an ego-war with your players.
Congrats to the team.
Watched the full game, truly a spectacle.
