AC Milan (finally) clinched their first win of the pre-season, beating Man Utd by four goals to two. Several players impressed and below are the ratings for the Rossoneri.
After two draws and one defeat, Milan headed into the game with a desperate need to clinch a win, especially since the season opener is just one week away. Fortunately, they succeeded with their mission, beating Ruben Amorim’s former side in Poland.

Short Version
🥇 Chukwueze (8 – MOTM): He was in the right place at the right time for the goal, so credit for making the run and believing in it. The cross for Cisse was a really good one, played at just the right time, and the assist for Ramos was just as good. What more can you ask for? He has made that right-flank spot his for now.
👎 Terracciano (4): It doesn’t really matter what he did throughout the course of the game, because that one mistake taints everything. It only proves why he won’t be part of the Milan squad for next season. It’s worth pointing out that he also made a big defensive mistake against Chelsea.
👔 Amorim (6): I wouldn’t say that the first half was anything to shout about, but in fairness to him, Milan clearly improved in the second and deservedly clinched the win in the end. He got the final laugh against his former team, so fair play.
Starting XI
Torriani (7.5): He started the game with a very good save on Dorgu, making use of his reflexes, and then followed that up with a penalty save on Fernandes. There were a few more good saves after that, so really great work (and surely he will start in the opener?).
Terracciano (4): It doesn’t really matter what he did throughout the course of the game, because that one mistake taints everything. It only proves why he won’t be part of the Milan squad for next season. It’s worth pointing out that he also made a big defensive mistake against Chelsea.
De Winter (6): He had some misplaced passes at the beginning, but then he improved and had some good interceptions. Maybe the penalty should be weighed in here, but personally I feel it shouldn’t have been given. He did exactly enough to get the attacker off his stride, so it was harsh to call it a penalty.
Pavlovic (6.5): I have said it after all of the friendlies this pre-season, but he was once again the most solid defender. He showed off with a superb block before the penalty, which shouldn’t have been given by the way, and also had some good runs forward.
Chukwueze (8 – MOTM): He was in the right place at the right time for the goal, so credit for making the run and believing in it. The cross for Cisse was a really good one, played at just the right time, and the assist for Ramos was just as good. What more can you ask for? He has made that right-flank spot his for now.
Musah (5.5): It’s hard to mark Maguire on a corner, don’t get me wrong, but I still think that he could have done better on that occasion. He was okay after that in terms of making himself available and spreading the play, but that goal remains on my mind.
Jashari (6.5): He showed off, if that is the right term here, with a couple of good balls to Estupinan to switch the play. He was very aggressive overall, which was nice to see, and that is why he won the ball back for the equaliser. Good work, without a doubt.
Estupinan (5.5): I don’t think it’s harsh to give him a 5.5 here as he could have done so much better with some of the crosses in the first half. Sure, he actually did okay in winning some 50-50 balls, but he was also carded for a foul and again, should have done so much better with a few of the crosses given how much time he had.
Loftus-Cheek (7): He missed a big chance in the first half, sending it straight at the keeper, but improved a few moments later as he was denied by a good save. The goal in the second half really showed his quality, making a run down the right and firing it past the keeper with ease.
Cisse (6.5): Perhaps he deserves a better rating just because of the goal, but in fairness, it was an open net (good run though!). What I liked was that he wasn’t as timid as some of the other games, so clearly he has learned from the criticism to improve.
Ramos (7.5): The vision to square the ball on the first goal was really impressive, especially when you consider how good his own chance was. He also had several great combinations with his teammates, such as the assist for RLC, and the header was a great one too to find the back of the net. Maybe an 8 after all?
Substitutes
Gila (6): Perhaps a little bit too aggressive? I was expecting him to take it slow after the injury but clearly, he’s in pretty good condition. Decent defending, I guess, and a couple of good runs forward, so definitely enough for a pass here.
Bartesaghi (6): Truth be told, there wasn’t really that much of a difference from him coming on, but I suppose that’s a good grade in itself as there weren’t any major mistakes.
Modric (6): Spread the play well as always, nothing too spectacular and nothing bad. It’s clear that he will still play an important role this season.
Saelemaekers (6): Since Chukwueze remained on the pitch, he played to the left this time and I think he did an okay job, without really showing any brilliance (or poor sides, for that matter).
Camarda (N/A): He didn’t play enough to get a rating from me.
Ricci (N/A): He didn’t play enough to get a rating from me.
Comotto (N/A): He didn’t play enough to get a rating from me.
Vladimirov (N/A): He didn’t play enough to get a rating from me.
The manager

Cisse has done more in this game than lazy Leao in a season.
He was the best player in Serie B last season, if he can keep it going all season then who needs Leao if he continues to grow.

He was offside. In a real game it wouldn’t stand.
Amorin has done the right thing to axe the players he has axed away form the team and I support the reasons he gave. Maybe now we can see and appreciate the new blood in the team, it may not be all rosy but it’s a step in the right direction. We need one ball playing CB at least before the season kick-off, the system needs the ball playing CB to function well.
A decent win, Forza Milano
De Winter played some excellent line breaking passes as well as long balls. For me it’s just his defending that’s not good enough, but he would make a very decent central CB
My observation is from Terraciano, he was clueless but Gila complimented Pavlovic when he came in, we cannot afford a clueless CB in this system. And an extra CB allows for rotation.
We don’t have a defense good enough to play out of the back like what Amorim is trying to do. We don’t have the players with the quality for it, not even when Gabbia returns. Terraciano is a joke. DeWinter doesn’t look comfortable and was inconsistent at best, as was Pavlo. The only player who looks like they can play out of the back is Gila but he won’t be enough.
Defense needs work.
Gabbia is the true captain mate!!! And he needs a backup, not the other way round like so many say in this platform. So yeah you’re right, defence needs work; Terraciano is a joke.
Terraciano, Musah,Estupinian are worst decisions for me.
Tomori is way better than De winter.
It’s impossible to understand Tomori is below all defender’s.
Because he can bring money on the market whereas KDW wont. It’s simple.
And KDW occupies a national trained list spot from his time developing in Genoa.
Easier to fit him as depth in the squad.
He also has better passing ability than Tomori.
Agree that Tomori should be relatively easy to offload to an English team for decent money.
For many months last season De Winter was the best defender before he got injured and lost form towards the end of the season ,and that is a fact.
Tomori is experienced ,physical and fast but was always too rash and his passing is very basic for game building from the back.
De winter can still grow and Tomori has reached his peak .
You also get the impression Tomori thinks of himself as a Senator at the club and will oppose change and that is probably the main reason Amorim is taking a risk with his exile, he wants to implement change where his predecessors have failed and he is serious about it.
Because Tomori is terrible to play with. It takes all the fun out of the game when you teammate is constantly yelling and blaming others for there mistakes. Can’t wait to see him leave and we can actually get some money in return.

This game proved that we need a CB and a LWB. As priorities! Then get an AM once Nkunku and Leao leave. Our keeper is very good just needs to lmprove the ball on his feet.

Can’t believe Amorim pulled a fast one on his old club – United seemed to be in dream world for the majority of the game – but fair play to Ruben we won this pretty comfortably in the end… let’s see what happens when it matters against Torino 😅
Well, certainly more encouraging than the Chelsea disaster. Facing a Manchester United with more starters than we had, the boys did well and scored 4 goals, and almost a fifth. The two goals conceded (and the conceded PK which wasn’t one) came out of glaring mistakes by two players, Musah and Terracciano; otherwise we could have had a pretty impressive 4-0 win! Yes, just a friendly, but certainly better to win 4-2 against a mostly senior ManU team than to lay that egg against Chelsea, in terms of some momentum for the season starter.
Torriani – 7.5. Burned by his defenders in the two goals conceded; not his fault. Saved the non-existing PK. Produced other good saves. This kid is good. Isaak here can’t really see a performance by Torriani without complaining of something, but the truth is that the kid had a great pre-season.
Terracciano – 3. What a horrible, horrible player. What is he still doing at Milan? Are we actually thinking of keeping him? Well, there wouldn’t be anyone willing to purchase him anyway or even take him on loan, but yes, Tomori must be having a laugh. So Tomori who has been pretty bad but is still light years ahead of Terracciano, gets black balled but we keep Terracciano??? Incomprehensible.
De Winter – 6. A bit tentative but decent. Gets a pass from me.
Pavlovic – 6. Nothing brilliant either but also gets a pass.
Estupiñán – 6. For a change, this time he was decent. I mean, he often is the one who concedes silly goals and this time he didn’t so that’s already a relief. Not that I think he is any good but since we are thin for his position, I guess I understand why Amorim vetoed his sale. Better to have a body to rotate with Davide there than a glaring hole.
Chukweaze – 8.5, MOTM. This player is highly improved after his loan. He used to be utterly predictable always drifting center and using only ne foot. After the loan he seems to have suddenly learned to cross and to go to the end line. Good stuff. Still suspect as wingback because of lack of defensive ability but if in a game he makes the team concede one or even two goals from his sector but then goes and has three goal participations like today, that’s a positive.
Jashari – 7.5. Whoa, maybe finally we will get the real Jashari this coming season, after his injury-damaged first season with us. We paid good money for him and there is a chance he will actually deliver, now.
RLC – 7 – Good game, no doubt; even scored. Still, the issue with RLC is how unreliable and inconsistent he is. Basically he is evidently capable of good games but they alternate with 6 bad ones.
Musah – 4 – Why are we keeping this clown? Amorim is shipping out Fofana and while also bad, he is clearly a bit less bad than Musah. Both are terrible when finishing and are allergic to scoring goals and this is by far Fofana’s worst shortcoming, but Musah in that is even worse, and while both make mistakes that cost the team some goals, at least Fofana is capable of good games and being helpful while Musah never does anything positive. This for me is a completely incomprehensible stance by the head coach. Sure, I’d like to get rid of both, but if he’s getting rid of only one midfielder, it should be Musah, not Fofana.
Cissé – 7.5. This kid is definitely good. He will grow with the first team. Very promising.
Ramos – 8. Excellent. That is by far the best signing in a long time.
Subs – Davide was OK and made no mistakes, gets a pass, 6. Camarda looks lost; only had 7 good minutes against Celtic the entire pre-season. Looks way less ready for the first team than Cissé and even Comotto. Missed a goal that he had to have scored in the last second of the game. 5. Comotto, actually looked better and should have had an assist. 6. Modric, at least decent as usual, at a minimum. 6. Gila was good, will be a force in the season if right after injury he comes back so energized. Good signing, too. 6.5. Ricci, Alexis, Vladimirov, s/v for me.
Amorim – Unlike last disastrous friendly, in this one we did see some Amorim ball with some vertical play, good passing, and an offense with options. The defense remains dreadful and will be a huge problem if there is no more mercato movement other than the good Gila signing. Cardinale must help Amorim, there. But the window is almost closed and if Amorim had one big preseason failure, it was taking too long to evaluate the players thus squandering the mercato window. For today’s game I will grant him a 7 but in terms of the full pre-season, some strange decisions (like keeping Musah over Fofana) and wasting time, I guess I’d lower it to at least a 6 if not 5.5 because if certain holes are not fixed and they look like they won’t be, this can defeat all the positive parts.
Jashari 7.5?? At least 3 turnovers. Should have had an assist on Loftus. Amazing passing both long and short. Impeccable engine. Deserves an 8 for me here
Fair enough; let’s upgrade him to an 8. I made it clear that I liked him a lot and am hopeful for the real Jashari to finally show up. Maybe I went 7.5 because as you may have noticed, my ratings today also took into account in some cases, the whole pre-season, not just today’s game and he’s been a bit inconsistent, but yes, for this game, great stuff and let’s hope the inconsistency is gone and is just getting fit for the season, and this season we see why we paid good money for him.
The reasons given by Amori according to an article for asking Tomori, Fofana and Co to exits are valid reasons I support, maybe you should lookup that article.
Personally I wanted Fofana to stay but after the reasons he and others were asked to leave, I cannot but accept the coach knows the problem the team is having and can solve them. Let’s just support thses new crop of players.
I did read the article. I understand that Tomori is disruptive in complaining too much of his companions. But Fofana’s reason there, I don’t really see it. One mistaken statement here and there in press interviews but basically a nice and quiet guy who rarely even speaks up. While I do NOT like Fofana as a player, I do also think that he is capable of being helpful to the team on occasion, even relatively often (say, one good game out of 3-4 unlike RLC who is more one out of 6) and is definitely less bad than completely useless Musah. That’s what I was surprised about. “OK, the squad is bloated, let’s get rid of one of the midfielders and even come up with some excuses for the press on why we are doing it. Brilliant ideal, I will get rid of Fofana but will keep Musah.” For me, that doesn’t work.
Well, it’s what it is, I feel Musa will be used more outwide than in the midfield when the season starts, but honestly Musa is has been poor so far.
I will even add a bit of conspiracy theory here. OK, both midfielders, Musah and Fofana. Both rather bad players, but one, Fofana, capable of good games while Musah is entirely useless. Why keep Musah if only one of the two is being considered for firing? Both bad but Fofana less bad and Musah much worse. Could it be because Musah is American and the owner is American? Not impossible, I’d say.
Fofana Modric and Rabiot were Milan’s best performing midfielders last season….that was crystal clear. Without Fofana’s crucial assists and defensive interventions in several matches Milan are not even in the Europa league. But of course you gush over players like Ricci and Jashari who did absolutely nothing positive all season!!!! Completely mind boggling stuff.

And I made abundantly clear that I was talking about Jashari this game, and acknowledged that he had a bad season last season, while also aknowledging that his season was marred by injury. But this game, Jashari did well, no doubt.
Sa io, today is August 15, 2026 we have a new manager and next weekend is our first game of the next season. The evaluation is purely on what we see and what we hope to see coming, the 20th and second star and even Europa Cup will do as a warm up to CL next season.

No, it’s because no one will pay for Musah, while Fofana will bring in money. It has nothing to do with locker room disruptions or any of that BS.
OK but then; I’d offer Musah out for sale for 1 Euro. Maybe for 1 Euro some silly team will want this useless player and take the hot potato out of our hands. At least we’d not have to pay a salary to a player who doesn’t contribute anything and is actually detrimental to the team when he plays. The roster is bloated anyway and needs trimming regardless of how much money can be brought in. Musah’s level is Serie C at best. I’m kidding about 1Euro but maybe some Serie C team would want him for 100 thousand Euro. That would be a win in my book. Apparently Amorim thinks he can improve Musah. What is he thinking; is he God or something to perform an impossible miracle??? Multiple coaches have tried and no one was able to make of him a footballer. He was tried in different positions by different coaches and never amounted to anything. He has had more than enough opportunities. Still thinking that something will change and he will suddenly improve is akin to a psychotic delusion. The idea that Musah has potential is a ship that has sailed.

Chukwueze is MOTM only in terms of his attacking contributions. He was a ghost defensively and any team that attacks him in transition will go right through him. That’s a problem that needs to be mitigated.

I really do not understand your rating system man. 1 goals, 2 assists = 8 (Chuk) and 7.5 (Ramos). How is that even possible. They were at least a 9 and an 8.5. Also, a 6 for Amorim?? Were we watching the same game?? This was total domination from Milan from start to finish. The high press caused ManU só much trouble. Had RLC been sharper, it would have been 2-1 in no time. The goals from ManU were a corner and a mistake from Terra. They created next to nothing from open play. I know I should not get carried away by pre season results, but a 6 for Amorim when it was so obvious that we even stood a chance because he’s fixing Allegri ball and actually making our players play again instead of avoiding risk, was so so so evident. I really don’t get you guys
I don’t know, man. 9 is like a hat trick, it’s like PSG stuff or prime Messi stuff (because 10, perfection, is kind of humanly impossible even for the best players in the history of the game). 8.5 is a very high score. I understand you are talking about Isaak’s scores, not mine, but while I went as high as 8.5 for Chuk, 9 is really almost unheard of. For me, Ramos was also great at 8 but a bit less so than Chuk. Because, see, Chuk was the undisputed MOTM so his score needs to be slightly higher than the second best player today, Ramos.

Again, I see 9 as a player who despite his companions doing poorly, goes and solves a game almost all by himself like with a hat trick or something. When most of the players play well so a player didn’t single-handedly win the game, and even with 3 goal participations, it’s not a hat trick, then I personally don’t go as high as 9. In your defense, though, FotMob’s algorhythm did assign 9.1 to Chuk and 9 to Ramos. But that’s more stats-oriented than the overall consideration of the entire game so they go higher than what most professional journalists do. While Chuk and Ramos were formidable, I doubt that tomorrow when we see the 3 main Italian sports newspapers, we will see scores of 9. But ultimately this is a bit subjective. Everybody agrees that Chuk and Ramos had a phenomenally good game, and that’s ultimately what is important rather than half a point more or less.
I would bring in Soule and use him in place of RLC. Instant upgrade. Ruben is just too inconsistent and as last 3 years have shown, can not be consistently relied upon.
Got to give props to Chuk here, he did well, ran tirelessly and made himself available both at the back and especially up front.
Torriani, this kid needs to play.
Ramos, a beast of a player we were missing. Same goes for Gila at the back.
All in all it was only a friendly and they’ll need to show they’re up to the challenge when it matters. But there were a lot of positives compared to previous seasons. The link up play and actions for the goals, something we haven’t seen for a long time. I also liked how they formed when not in possession where I was mostly afraid of the midfield duo of Musah and Jashari. But they were compact in the middle with additional help of wingbacks and RLC. Made it congested.
Still missing at least three quality additions – CB, LWB, AM
Ramos is definitely an upgrade but his contributions will depend on the service he gets this season. The real evaluations should be made against teams that low block.
Ramos contributed as well with 2 assists and that’s what I really liked. He’s a team player and not just someone who needs service up front.

I’m not really optimistic for the season ahead, I believe we’ll at most fight for EL but I see a different approach from the players in comparison to previous seasons. And that’s a step forward imo.
Considering the last game with Chelsea and the composition of the starting 11, i expected another unpleasant episode, but in the end i was very pleasantly surprised! Unlike Allegri, the speed of the game and ball control is something that Amorim clearly insisted on. Several players gave their all. I sincerely hope that this is just the beginning of something better.
Props to the players that did well. And it’s clear Torriani does have the potential to be a great goalkeeper if he gets consistent playing time.
Still missing too many pieces. Hope we get active on the mercato and sign more. CB and another creative player or two. And maybe a wing back.
To be fair I would have given Amorim a 7-7.5 for this game. And remember he’s still testing players out. It’s clear some like Terracciano need to leave immediately.

Good to see the fans rated Cisse and Jashari higher than Isak. Jashari was a very close call for man of the match.
Cisse has to stay around the first team and get good minutes. He has so much quality. The thing I really like about he is he always wants the ball. He made some poor decision but he’s allowed to for now.
Ramos is the type of player we have been crying out for for years. He causes defenders so many problems. We finally have a disruptor!
This Chuk thing might just work, you know. We still desperately need an option for when a good left winger is giving him hell, but keep going, I say.
Gila! What a monster!!! Too aggressive? No, we need warriors and that’s exactly what he is.
I thought we were excellent throughout but for the two obvious names who I don’t think have been treated harshly enough to be honest. It’s worth noting that Musah also made the mistake that launched the attack that won the corner in the first place. And Terracciano played an identical miss-pass that lead to the penalty. That pass hit well is still the wrong pass; hit badly is a disaster; but then done twice is grounds for dismissal.
Roll on next week! Lets now get a couple of players in, close down the rumour mill and start focussing on football!

I hope Chukwueze works out. Consistency was his main problem at Fulham but if he can improve that and manage to fit into this system, could be a real plus for the season and show that this clubs policy of signing and then forgetting about players needs to be stopped.
Isaak, why is Gila being “a bit too aggressive” a bad thing? We do need an aggressive defender. He’s a very good player and was a good signing (Ramos’ signing even better). These two signings are of higher quality than most of what we’ve done in several years in terms of mercato.

Amorim finally getting them out of the Allegri ball nonsense. Trying to get them to take risks without playing scared is showing good progress. I just hate that he’s selling Fofana and Nkunku while leaving clueless Musah and Terraciano.

Id like to say that im really happy with Ramos cause what he brings to the team is not only being a striker but also being unselfish the assist for chukueze showed nothing but pure heart behind it so overall im really glad we got him as our striker. Cissé was also one of our players today who really gave it all on the pitch and i hope that he gets minutes this season. I also migth be biased but RLC is really one of my most liked players on our squad because of his ability to play on noumeros positions but today he showed that he is worth keeping. For the last one Pavlovic is really the best cb we have and those runs he makes foreward are just phenomena. It was a great game today and i hope to see more.
Forza Milan
Musah and Terraciano are awful players. They need to be given away for a bowl of pasta. Absolute bums.
Musa was good and will improve under this football. Terra should also stay for depth. Give the lads a chance. They won’t be starters and Milan can’t afford much better young players as back ups. Let’s be reasonable.
Man U played way below their normal standards. Were they uninterested, tired or just lazy. Or were they not allowed to play better because of Amorim’s tactics? If so, what was the trick?

Torianni: 8. Saved a penalty, looked solid, nothing he could do on the 2 goals.
Pavlovic: 6. He gave up the ball a few too many times, but when he didn’t, he was good. Especially liked the tackle before the penalty.
De Winter: 7. He looked good in defense and could be the ball playing center back amorim needs.
Teracciano: 3.5. Horrible mistake for United’s second goal.
Estupinan: 5.5. Defensively he made the same mistakes as always, but his crossing was decent today.
Musah: 5. Didn’t do anything good today.
Jashari: 7.5. Great game for him, he pressed a lot, passing was good, and he did well to win the ball before the first goal.
Chukwueze: 9. Two assists and a goal, he was amazing all game.
Loftus Cheek: 7.5. He scored as goal but he committed way too many fouls for my liking.
Cisse: 6.5. He created space for himself but couldn’t get the end product most of the time. He scored though, which gives him the 6.5. He still has time to improve.
Ramos: 8.5. A goal and two assists, great game for him.
Subs:
Gila: 6.5. Good job containing Rashford, he defends very well.
Bartesaghi: 6. Didn’t do much but he did his job defensively.
Modric 6.5. Good job as always, his passing is on another level.

This friendly doesn’t tell me really anything that we didn’t already know. I think this season will be important for Jashari’s development. If he plays alongside Modric with Rabiot further forward then he’s form will be important to keep this midfield solid especially with Rabiot coming back in transition to help press and defend. Musah is generally useless.
Defense is the obvious weak spot so far. But also how will Amorim play against low block teams? Torino will be interesting.
I’ve maintained Jashari has some skills if honed in can do well. He’s also second season in so we could expect a better season 🤞

I thought we had a good game. Not so great in the first half but the second half seemed good. Let’s hope this is not saying more about how bad United is than it’s saying about us being good. That being said I could kind of see what Amorim’s “new” tactics are. Narrow down the middle and then pass out to the wings to gain an advantage. We’ll see how quickly Serie A coaches figure that out.
For the individuals I thought Torriani did very well. Not be first goal he probably should have been. Not sure why Musah is getting all the blame on the marking as I thought Pavlovic was the marker. So I’d say 50-50 in terms of blame between the goalie and the D. His pen save was exceptionally good. Bruno is a master ok taker. Plus he had quite a few other saves. I’ve been preaching that he’s our future and we can see why Man City wanted him.
De Winter was incredibly calm. Pav was a mixed basket but I don’t think this was his best game. He’s not a very good CB overall imo. Gila did ok. Cisse and Jahari did well as well. The “wingbacks” also did ok but this was a man Utd team which was out of sorts.
Ramos was devoid of service in the first half which was quite worrying but gave a beautiful pass to Chuck.. very unselfish. Loved the young lads especially Cisse and Comotto as well as Vlad. Cisse kept up with the pace and level of the other more veteran players. This was quite refreshing as you don’t normally see that in the kids. Other than that, I’ll leave it there.
Let’s hope Torino is more like Man Utd than they are Chelsea.
Cisse was good. Love how he often make the gesture of calm when a teammate is in possession. Looking forward to the season after not been at all excited about Milan in a year. Forza Milan.
Jashari should get 7.5 and Ramos was Man of the Match 8.5 and Chucky 8. Terracciano should never wear the Milan jersey again.
