Player Ratings: Parma 2-1 AC Milan – lacklustre displays galore; Okafor struggles

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan failed to clinch their first win of the season as Parma prevailed 2-1 on Saturday evening. It was a night to forget for the Rossoneri and several of the players, who struggled big time. Below are the ratings for the team.

If you haven’t already, make sure to check out how we decide the player ratings. From the scale to what affects the rating, we have compiled everything there.

Starting XI

Maignan (6): He couldn’t do anything about the goals and did well when called upon, with especially one good save with his leg. He also stopped a few long ball-counters thanks to his positioning.

Calabria (5): The captain was incredibly sluggish tonight and was beaten time after time on the right flank. He just couldn’t keep up with the pace of his opponent and the usual okay positioning (not there today) couldn’t save him.

Tomori (6): If you look at the goals conceded tonight, the Englishman was actually one of the few who did what he was supposed to do. In terms of his positioning, that is, and he also had a few other good interventions. He was certainly not the weak link of the defence.

Pavlovic (6): It was a tough debut from start for the Serbian as he struggled with his positioning throughout the game. Yes, he played much better in the second half and had two crucial 1v1 interceptions. However, the defending on the second goal was really poor, as he even looked at the striker multiple times and still failed to pick him up. Update: The rating has been upgraded to a 6 upon further reflection, given the crucial last-ditch tackles. We let the second goal, where he was hung out to dry by Theo, cloud our judgement.

Hernandez (4.5): He ended up getting a hockey assist but for most of the game, he was shocking in both phases. Especially in defence, as seen on the first goal, and it was quite concerning to see his work-rate out there. Fair play on the goal, but he also struggled when going forward on several occasions.

Musah (5): The American had the willingness and did at least raise the tempo a few times, but there were far too many technical errors from him. Misplaced passes and failing to control the ball made life difficult for him.

Reijnders (6): Silky smooth on the ball and almost got a great goal as he struck the bar from distance. He also helped create several chances in and around the box when it seemed impossible to break down the defence. Very unlucky.

Pulisic (6): Right place, right time on the goal which just about gets him a pass here. The truth is that he could have been a lot more incisive in open play, but he did have one good shot that was saved.

Loftus-Cheek (4.5): For me, he was the worst player tonight as he truly didn’t add anything to the game. He got on the ball in good positions, but he never made anything out of this and it’s strange that he wasn’t subbed off. It would have been better to have Reijnders in the No.10 role.

Leao (5.5): This is quite tough to call. Part of me feels that the Portuguese winger struggled once again with his finishing and, at times, his dribbling on the left flank. The fatal misplaced pass which led to Parma’s winning goal says a lot. But then again, he did very well on the goal scored.

Okafor (4.5): After the goal against Torino, the expectations were moderately high but this was very poor from him. Even though he wasn’t always that involved, he got three qualifying chances inside the box and missed them all and that wasn’t good enough.

Substitutes

Emerson Royal (5): He perhaps cannot be blamed for the winner as it was Leao’s pass to him that screwed things up, but he was poor overall and also had a misplaced pass earlier which nearly led to a goal.

Fofana (5.5): Added some energy to the game and dared to make tough passes, but the problem was that he missed quite a few of them.

Chukwueze (N/A): We didn’t see enough of him to give a rating.

Jovic (N/A): We didn’t see enough of him to give a rating.

    1. Yes, Parma’s attack was very nice and they only needed two seconds to mount an attack. Our attack would take two hours and then fizzle out.

      1. Exactly. You don’t need your whole squad to score a goal. Use the team to pin opponents down. When we have the ball, every player is in the opponents 18 yard box. And then track back becomes a heavy task

  1. Emerson? One of the worst debut matches I’ve seen in Milan. And I’ve been a Milan fan since ‘97. Oh and please put back that rating on the coach.

  2. Very very poor display, our rb and to some extent left back were poor, Emerson Royal is a waste of money, Calabria is calamity, Musah is just as poor, Loftus big for nothing, Reinjders just ok, Pulicic not in the game if not for the goal, Theo played disinterested and below average, Tomori average, Pavlovic average but he has potentials and can be better, a Leao the golden boy needs shooting training, the skill is there but needed a better coach not Fonseca, Okafor should remain a super sub not a starter. Overall poor display

    1. To think that we can get the likes of Bellanova for 20 mil (or just simply use that Royal’s money somewhere else) is another salt on our opened wounds.

        1. Dude what game were you watching. Miss pass, miss position, yellow card, I don’t think any professional, highly paid, footballers can commit such many errors within 20 minutes.

          1. Ah fair enough. Yeah we all predicted Emerson would be awful. Literally zero Milan fans anywhere were excited for his signing, at best we were hoping he wasn’t as awful as he showed at Spurs. Sadly it doesn’t look good

    2. The skill is there?

You confuse extreme athleticism for skill. If wasn’t for that physical attribute he would not be sniffing any teams in the top flight clubs.

  3. How on earth do you give Pavlovic a lower rating than Tomori? Do you even watch football? The guy was left on his own about 50 times during the game and still made the tackle or interception 90% of the time. If you want to blame someone for the second goal, blame Hernandez for being lazy.

    1. Theo blamed for 1st goal, he’s just like jogging in the beach waiting some b!tche5 to come. The second goal is Leao fault and Emerson positioning. But I agree Pavlovic was saved us many times.

      1. Also, Pavlovic had TWO opponents to mark in the box in the second goal. He was NOT to blame. Pavlovic was the reason why Milan didn’t lose 5-1.

  4. RLC is garbage, and the sooner he leaves this club the better. No wonder the club can’t succeed when we’re starting Chelsea rejects in our team. Get him and Tomori out of my club.

    1. Are u joking Tomori has saved us nearly 3 trillion times and is still solid. If anything sell Thiaw for decent money, not loan Kalulu and get hardly anything for him.

  5. Calabria was terrible. If Pulisic hadn’t sprinted back there would of been two goals he was partly responsible for. For the game, Leao was dreadful. The last goal was parttly on him

    1. Calabria and no one else for that matter can mark two players at the same time. The first goal is not on him, but mainly on Theo and then Musa who didnt get back on time to cover the mid from where the action started.

      1. lol

It’s funny you’re arguing which players were at fault at different times when the only one at fault is Fonseca.

If the team had played just a little good football either in defense or attack then sure, we could’ve went on and talk about individual performances then.

Our goal was the result of the usual Theo-Leao axis working which has been the same the last few seasons. Zero Fonseca effect so far. I mean, positively.

  6. I’m beginning to wonder if Fonseca watched any Milan games from last season or was briefed at all on the these players after taking the job? I’m speechless… Kudos to Parma. Bernabe… what a player.

    1. @dejan10 let’s talk.
Do you think Ibra is a better sporting director than he who I shall not mention his name. It seems to me Ibra us only here for Cardinale’s money. What’s his experience? We complained about he who I shall not name.

How well has Moncada done that, Milan couldn’t identify potentials in Italy. I’m sure Nikan could have poached players from Como or Parma who are better than Emerson or even Musah – oh, well we know Musah is playing because he’s American.

Why was Kalulu not retained as a RB, instead of buying Emerson?

People say Bennacer is always injured. Have they forgotten that RLC had injury issues before arriving in Milan. So, please someone convince me how RLC is a better baller than Isma?

      1. He who’s “name u shall not mention” built a team and this management are destroying… yes he made mistakes because he is an amateur but he is way better than them… these set of midfielders we are having do not compliment each other, RLC, Musah, i dnt knw wat good they add to this team, fofana should be a close to kessie’s replacement atleast, bennacer must play, atleast he can mark or he is willing to mark, and reinjders, he is the hakan’s replacement, he is a good ball carrier, can break the lines with his passes and can score goals, a proper no. 10, gabbia is surely underrated as he was our best center back from last season and yet he is benched, i dont still see how chukwueze is better than saelemakers… but seems like both the coach and the management are just confused..

          1. He was judged from 1 match out of 4 matches and was benched,, when you don’t have a good midfielders and defenders,, you now expect the attacker to play in front and also defend in the back,,,,,

    2. Parma didn’t do anything special though. That’s the mind blowing part. Just basic counter attacks that we didn’t know what to do with.

      1. Yeh it’s scary how easy it was for them – but they were well organized, sharp and generally looked more up for it. Couilibally Man and Bernabe were excellent- I dread to think what Inter are going to do to us if things don’t change.

        1. I already set up my expectations lower this season due to all the growing pains with a new coach NOT miles ahead of Pioli tactically.

      2. The little they did cost Milan so much… that is how to define a good team and a coach with game plan.

From these first two matches I dont see any differences between Pioli and Fonseca. Maybe buying Pioli the player needed to fix the team and allow him finish his contract it would have been a different story first two matches

      3. Pioli… Was the reason behind our four seasons successes!!! Fonseca is our fate!!
        Believe it or not.
The management is ungrateful to the hard work of former coach.

  7. A very disappointing night.

Pavlovic looked like way more than a physical presence and I am surprised by the low score.

Theo was a horror show and I am surprised by the high score.

The entire team looked tired. Even Puli was off. Sloppy crosses, inaccurate passes.

There were times when Musah passed the ball to Reinjders and TR wasn’t even paying attention. As a mid you are head-on-a-swivel.

I promised myself four games before I started moaning. So here is hoping a significant improvement is seen next week.

Also, credit where credit is due. Wow Parma. I’ll try to catch a few more of their games!

    1. LOLOLOLOLO

Well well well….hate to say I told you so Mr Clean – but I did tell you so donkey🫏

I’m beginning to realize that may of the fans in this chat are just keyboard warriors – FlFA game players who have never played the sport at any serious level themselves. That would Explain a lot

So as PREDICTED – Musah as a DM – didn’t work; Okafor (who I like and is a great backup LW) as a #9 didn’t work.

Our two best players were Pavlovic and Reindjers. Pav had a few moments but that is expected given his first game in the shirt

Also as PREDICTED – our horrible start to the season. But this is what you get when you pick a coach who nobody really wanted AND who has never won much of anything (Ukrainian league doesn’t count lads) AND when you have a management and ownership group that just apparently cares about stocking the Futuro with cheap young talent to sell in the future rather than worrying about winning now. Fonseca ball looks awfully similar to Pioli ball doesn’t it??? But hey at least we hired Fonseca for CHEAP! Whew! But who cares right? We have the Futuro!!! Well it’s early in the season right – new coach and 4 new players must be tough – although the new Venezia coach didn’t seem to have an issue last week w a new team and new league – and Parma looked like they never left Serie A. Lol

Zlatan just said we are a complete team and to add more players would just block the Futuro players. Ummmm…since when have you heard a big club say that??? Real Barca Liverpool Man U Bayern Juve – never speak such words. BUT I guess that is the whole point. We are NOT interested in winning on the pitch per se – but rather worried about winning the profit margin game. AND by the time any of those Futuro players develop to contribute to the squad – no worries the established starts will be long gone and sold off for profit $$$$. Like I said great strategy for the investors in the board room I guess.

No serious club (or fan) would think we are all set at the #9 position with the likes of: Morata Jovic and Carmada. Ya I guess we are so set that we needed to play a natural winger in Okafor out of position after just one week gone in the season.

A #9 MUST be able to hold up the play and control the ball to allow the wingers and mid to recover – we do not have that with Okafor and Jovic. Okafor can be excused because he’s NOT a striker / never has been and is NOT a prolific finisher. Jovic however is a striker (although a support striker) who cannot hold the ball nor offer any target in the box. He is uselsss in this system. Look at that kid today Bony (20yrs old) – brilliantly held the play and offered a target. Perhaps we should buy him lol. Nah – Ibra said we are all set and he’s too busy climbing the Alps w Ambro apparently to worry about it.

Emerson getting caught high up the pitch which helped lead to the winning goal?? Shocking. I’m sure we will never see that again all season 😂😝🤡

Coulibally anyone?? Can we swap this kid w Emerson and thrown in the Captain Calabria for free pls???? Wow what an impressive display for such a young player.

Looks like we now have even more of a problem. Pulisic is a RW and not a CAM and Chuck and that 28M relegated to the bench again; No real CAM – as RLC does his consistent disappearing act – one good game filled by 5 invisible ones and RLC is not a DM either; Musah still needs time to grow and isn’t ready AGAIN ; going to sell one of our only DM in Benny and try to replace him w Koné – who really isn’t a DM – but ok but Roma will prob beat us to him cause we will haggle and low ball; Reinjders not a DM; no back up to Theo; no back up to Morata (but I’m sure he will stay healthy all season and be able to play in all 50 games from here on out); we have over 100M worth of wingers?? – Leao Okafor Pulisic Chuk Salad – yet 13M invested in a #9.

Ya we are definitely a balanced and complete team – Scudetto and UCL Glory here we come!! Enjoy the Apls Zlatan – you can rest now it’s Day 7

      Good times.

        1. Hahahahaha…..another Redbird Lover….was waiting for one of you donkeys to jump in. Well With all the material our wonderful ownership provides, absolutely could. But first learn your numbers kid before you learn how to read grown up books. Now back to playing that Xbox son. Good luck!

      1. Take it easy, as many members here believe, Camarda will be our messiah. One of the greatest jokes being thrown here was the excuse to not getting highly-rated (and high figures) no 9 was to make path to Camarda. Lol.

And where’s that Boulden guy. The same guy who vanished last season when things didn’t go his imaginative way.

      2. Mr. Clean … Heh … Nice one

You told me so. Erm …. Okay?

I hate.to.think.of what you could have done with all that time. If the goal was.to simply insult me you could have stopped at donkey I suppose.

Hope.you are betting on all those prognostications. Good luck with that.

        1. Nuri lives for moments like this, so he can chime in and unload his frustrations to cope with the realities of his life. A lot of people just vent here.

What did he say that we didn’t already know? Who did he prove wrong and how?

New coach, new ideas, two games in, new players… There will be a

        2. I feel sorry for him at this point. Either nobody loves him in real life, or he’s a totally different person, but that would imply some kind of psychopathy.

        3. You DID say you saw A LOT of positives in the last nightmare of a performance against Torino, which was mind boggling to say the least.

So, was there any more positives on display here?

          1. Yeah, Pavlovic. Mike was on form.

There were stretches of the game where we were banging chances at the keeper and this Suzuki kid was playing out of his mind.

The hate for Calabria is laughable. As if every other FB in every other league doesn’t let crosses by.

Tomorri looked like Scudetto Tomorri. Confident, with pace and generally making good stops.

            I can go on.

I can easily pile on. For all those calling Fonsy foolish and worse for not starting Theo last week. He didn’t even make an effort to roll in the ground and pretend he was hurt on the first goal.

Trouble is the piling on is too easy. (Which is also piling on 🙂 )

          2. You see, you’re evaluating individual performances which has nothing to do with how the team played as a whole. I can walk down the street, watch the kids in some alley play around and make the same observations.

We already know Mike is a strong GK. Everybody knows Milan have better players than Torino and Parma, hence why playing horribly and losing to them is so worrying and negative.

Scudetto level Tomori brought a little tear to my eye though. Looks like you and Isak Moller both need glasses.

      3. “I’m beginning to realize that may of the fans in this chat are just keyboard warriors”

and yet here you are commenting like a true keyboard warrior lol

      4. “I’m beginning to realize that may of the fans in this chat are just keyboard warriors – FlFA game players who have never played the sport at any serious level themselves. That would Explain a lot”

You’re calling Emerson a clown emoji after 20 mins and demanding his sale? Jesus give the guy a chance will you.

And their names are Chukwueze not Chuck and Saelemaekers not Salad.

        Real supporter you are. NOT.

  8. Starting from the school uniform there are wearing calling it jersey why won’t there lose when school boys are playing it’s to early oo have said my own

  9. Y’all are forgetting the aim of cardinale, that it is to monetize Milan not as a football club but as an entertaining assets of fashionistas and Americanas…. He is all out for his pocket not the good of Milan…I had never seen Milan as poor like this….

      1. Even during d banter era, we didn’t have quality but u could see d players giving their all…. Dis one is a curse… We were so disjointed and awful .. Torino gifted us a point, Parma saved us from embarrassment by not scoring all dis chances…. It’s appalling… And we honestly thought we were out of d banter era

  10. How are we still expecting musah and RLC to play these roles, we saw plenty last season this didn’t work. Theo genuinelymoght as well have stayed in the locker room because he was arguably the worst player on the pitch. Can’t help but remember the management saying “we don’t need a top coach” this summer. How’s that look now? We have an abundance of talent in the squad. But it takes a top level manager to get the best out if them. Fonseca isn’t looking very top class, rather naive honestly. The only bright spots are pavlovic showing his quality in defending, especially 1v1, and reijnders and pulisic genuinely trying to make magic happen. Big changes need to happen quickly, or it won’t be long before this ownership sees yet another manager getting booed off the pitch every game

  11. A tought pill to swallow. My takeaways

    1. We need to move away from being Leao dependent to team orientated, the Leao ddependancy is doing more harm than good.

    2. Pioli DNA is still written all over this team, we need to move some players on for our mindset to improve or maybe change. Leao and Theo need to know it’s not a one man show.

    3. Reindjers should let fly instead of wanting to go and greet the goalkeeper or hoping to dribble the whole opponent.

    4. Finally Fonseca may not be it but time will tell.

    5. We should move on Captain and try to cashout on Leao, as long as Milan is concerned Leao can’t get better.

      1. We have too many players who are not physical. And having them at the same time on the field is our biggest issue. Bennacer, kessie and Tonali will always sprint back when we lost the ball. Today’s game, no mid tracked back properly but Musah, but he too was playing higher than Tij. If the coach wants to play a double pivot. They should not always join attack especially when your RB&LB are tasked to overlap a lot

      2. Sure, it’s much obvious Pioli wasn’t the problem. This whole managing just dont know how to buy players and build a winning team with great mentality. I honestly don’t know how their scout team works compare to other big clubs in Europe

  12. I don’t understand why Milan buy player like Emerson?? He’s rubbish at barca and couple error defence at hotspurs. Why we don’t just take bartesaghi?? Save that money… American burger ruin the club. I think, Fonseca will be sacked if the result won’t come up after 5 games..

    1. Yes, we need billionaire Italian to buy the club and that will solve all the problems, wait one minute, there aren’t any billionaire Italians to take over the team. You need to work on your xenophobia my friend. Hating people based on where they come from will get you a stop from the Bobbys.

      1. They are not so many powerful italian billioners because the CIA and his “Mani pulite” operation destroy italian owned big capital and make Italy weak and dependent of american empire. America want just submissive countries to control them . F**k USA. I’m sick about this evil empire

    2. More idiot American haters on here. It was American owners that brought this club it’s first Scudetto in ten years and has it in Champions League play every year. Short memory? The squad has plenty of quality. It’s the tactics that are baffling.

      1. I think you’re confusing the owners with Maldini and the things he miraculously achieved.

I could care less that they’re Americans, it’s their business model I have a problem with. So if someone says the Americans you don’t have to get your panties in a bunch. Stop immediately getting triggered at the mention of the word, they’re just referring to the club’s owners. It doesn’t have anything to do with them being from the United States.

        1. If either of you had even a semi-intelligent argument I wouldn’t mind but you don’t. It’s always stupid American owners, or cheap American owners that don’t care about winning… None of which have any truth to it. The owners have spent money and improved the team each season.
Funny how Maldini gets all the credit for the wins but none for the losses, and no blame for letting our best players leave for free or the list of total garbage signings he made ,Origi, Ballo Toure, Vranckx, Dest, Pellegri, Bakayoko, CDK, etc, etc… some of which this management still has to deal with because we can’t even give them away. But yeah he’s perfect and never did anything wrong.

          1. U r a joke… Maldini spent 120m.in 3 years and still won d scudetto with d players u called useless….. This joke of a management spent 200m in 2 Mercato to bring us back into banter era..so which one is better…. Ur myopia is unrivalled….
And most of d players u labelled useless were either free or loan..but u spent millions to bring chukwussias to Milan to come n sit on d bench…. Isn’t dat hilarious

          2. You mean like rebuilding the midfield last season because AGAIN it was the weak part, and now we are rebuilding it because it was rebuilt so well.. and still we don’t have a no6….

Make no mistake if Morata had been going for 40m this summer, we wouldn’t have signed him

Improved the team each season? This is where you,lot fall on your asses, after thebscudetto win, we finished 2k points behind Napoli, last season 19 points behind inter, so we’ve improved one point for all the ownerships efforts and now this season we are already gonnna be -5 from the top…..

          3. Sure, sure. No one is perfect but facts remain facts. You were drooling after the last two mercatos after Maldini and look what they have won us, jack****. I remember how you used to bash Scudetto-winning, team-of-the-season midfielder Tonali when he was in the team and played his heart out. And how has that midfield fared when we sold him and signed world-beaters RLC and Musah that according to you can create things, pass the ball and have an impact, unlike Tonali?

You’re one of those fellows who thinks he knows things… but maybe you don’t?

        2. You guys talk like Maldini achieved all the great stuff on his own and had zero to do with all the bad stuff… it’s really quite bizarre.

          1. No we don’t, that’s what you think we think…..he was inexperienced, he did good stuff and bad stuff, just like Alex Ferguson did….i don’t think any true Milan fan can state that the club is a better place without Maldini here, just as a figurehead of respect like Beckenbauer or Charlton.

          2. @Drew – I wish Maldini was better at his job and he was still here. The guy did just literally say “I think you’re confusing the owners with Maldini and the things he miraculously achieved” tho – and we hear that a lot.

          3. He was learning on the job, he was a phenomenal player, a phenomenal captain, a phenomenal ambassador for the club…given time I think he’d have been phenomenal in the club management circles..

Like I said Alex Ferguson made some shocking transfer moves. And if one’s future is to be decided in Mercato then the very fact we are rebuilding a midfield that we supposedly rebuilt last summer then the current decision makers should be under the cosh

        3. Did you read the bro’s response? Unhinged. Why waste time stating where someone comes from if it doesn’t matter? You defend someone who you don’t know their intent. All you can do is state how you use the words so you are projecting you thoughts onto his statement. Using the word triggered comes from someone who gets triggered and it’s cringey brah.

  13. Fonseca doesn’t understand Seria A.
Leao is a shadow of himself.
    Theo is still on holiday
Musah is better has a substitute
RLC needs to sit on the bench

    1. Tomori’s sweet spot is on the bench, or better yet out of this club. Preferably with the rest of his English and American friends, bar Pulisic.

  14. 343 or 433 8s the ans. Though we have lazy players. Pavlovic was almost alone doing the job or a left back and CB. He’s a good player. I’ll go for 343 with Tomori pav, Emerson, Theo, Sala, Rej, Ben or Fof, Pulisic Leao and Any of the strikers

  15. How on earth did our coach leave RLC for 90’ is baffling. We will regret if we sell Bennacer. This is what happens when we keep buying foreigner. All the signings are waste apart from pavlovic and fofona who looks promising. I never liked the Emerson royal guy. It’s obvious we can’t go far with this new coach.

  16. rlc is the worst. as an attacking midfielder he didn’t contribute anything. The ability to survive is also non-existent, it would be better if he was sold, not Bennacer

  17. I think we can now only play with Manc.United.
We are now 1 of 2 worst club form at first 5 league. When we lose next game against Lazio i hope we sacked Fonseca and Ibra. They can take Ajax and try something there.

  18. No Thiaw or Bennacer to blame today.
They conceded an early goal and decided to force a change but time over time, we were caught out in the overlap yet the coach or our irresponsible defenders couldn’t stay back to defend the lines, more than 10 occasions, parma had about 3 players on only 2 Milan defenders, who are just returning from the opposite half, what they were doing high up in the first place, I don’t know as they made little impact.
Pavlovic is slow but a very good recoverer, he makes up with good tackles.
Didn’t know why RLC remained in the match with no useful contribution and the coach seems to believe in players who just create a cameo spark and voila, he starts them in the next match, . We are in real trouble and that Royal guy would become a big burden that we wouldn’t be able to dispose of in future, Calabria contributed more than him as poor as he was

  19. I believe I said it before. The coach needs to use the playsets he started with and played a good game in the season then with time integrate the so called big players in the team. This is just pioli 2.0. Fonseca needs to trust other players and bench the big boys. They are out of shape and with lot of fatigue after the Euros they participated in. RLC has no business in Playing AMF, it’s either he’s used as a double pivot or in a 433 formation. Leao need to sit on the bench and let salameakers start, pulisic is the final tick in that midfield. The coach needs to play him there, he needs to also trust chukwu if he wants to see his best like in the preseason
The whole players were very very slow like they were forced to play the match especially Leao. Jovic is not the problem in the current formation but the players around him to feed him the ball. When everyone criticized him last week I knew okafor will fall the same victim today. Even halland in this team will still face the same challenges.
The coach needs to go back to his style of offensive play as we saw in the preseason where we defend the moment we loose the ball and attack before the opponent regain their defensive shape

  20. We’re gonna get fully bodied by our cousins after the international break. We’ve gone backwards from all the hard work to get us where we were. I think the last time I cheered a goal was in QF against spurs 2 seasons ago. Since then every time we score I still feel angry because we’re either clawing a score line back or don’t trust that we won’t get pegged back. We need a spark and quick. Literally half our team returned from their break after all the tournaments about 2 weeks ago. It’s not enough they’re shattered. Finish last season go to the other side of tge world to Australia. Come back, off on international duty, straight to America for meaningless money spinner friendlies. Milan is a joke but football today is a comedy show and we’re tge clowns for caring so much. Footballs done

  21. Pavlovic was Milan’s best player. It is extremely clueless to give him a 5.5 rating. He basically had two minor mistakes and got everything else right, all game long; was solid in defense, recovered the ball multiple times from Parma’s forwards, and supported the offense well; almost scored in a couple of headers. I can’t even comprehend why someone wouldn’t notice everything that he did well and give him a poor score. He was the ONLY bright spot for Milan, tonight.

Reijnders also did reasonably well; unlucky that his excellent shot hit the crossbar rather than going in. Maignan, poor Mike, if the defenders allow opponents to be unmarked 1v1 against him it’s like PKs; so, their goals were not his fault and he did avoid a couple of additional goals. Tomori was decent most of the time, with some mistakes.

Everybody else was very poor. Calabria, a disaster. Theo only did one thing right, and that’s his participation in our goal. Rafa gets 75% of the merit for our goal; constructed the play on the left, passed to Theo, got it back from Theo, defeated the defense and assisted Puli perfectly. However, the rest of the game Rafa did nothing right and did misplace the pass that started their second goal which kind of cancels his merit for our goal.

Okafor, a disaster; I’m very disappointed, I had hoped he’d do better than Jovic did against Torino, but actually he did worse as he did get service (unlike Jovic who got no service against Torino) but still failed to be incisive; there was an opportunity that he should have buried but produced the weakest of all shots. Puli was somewhat decent and did score; gets a pass; but overall, he was below his level. Musah was useless, RLC was completely useless; worst Milan player (with some competition on this from Calabria and Okafor); stuff to encourage Milan to sell him if anybody wants him. Any offer will do. Sell him for 1 M Euro, for all I care. I’m tired of how irregular he is, how easily he falls down, and how rarely he plays well. I’d rather try to promote Liberali for the CAM position than to see RLC failing to do it.

Subs, Emerson, very suspect. Had one good play but otherwise was poor; maybe he should still get the benefit of the doubt; it was his first game with just a few minutes. Fofana seems still not match-ready but did show a few glimpses of good presence (as well as some missed passes). I think he will improve with more games. Chuk and Jovic, no time to do anything.

I don’t feel that this loss is on Fonseca. We can’t say that Fonseca made any lineup mistake or substitution mistake. The players were the ones who didn’t perform.

One might say that the coach is also responsible for losing to a newly-promoted team. But what exactly could Fonseca have done? The players on paper are good but are performing terribly even when they are in their preferred and natural positions.

Hm… I do take it back, partially. Maybe the one thing Fonseca could have done better, would be to remove RLC, displace Puli to the CAM position, and get Chuk there earlier or Alexis. RLC should not have played for so long, as he was doing absolutely nothing. OK, so, yes, that is still partially Fonseca’s fault.

This will be a long season… Sure, it’s been only two games, but frankly, I don’t think we will be competitive. The first two games we did so poorly that one wonders if these players have what it takes to be competitive with Inter. Probably they do not.

I think the only hope is to root for Milan Futuro. I feel like the kids are playing better than the first team.

    1. I will disagree with you on the aspect where the coach shouldn’t be responsible. In a match like this your attacking substitutions should come early and not almost at the end of the game.
Puli was obviously tired, RLC totally useless in that position, Leao and Hernandez total disaster. He should have sub either of Leao or Hernandez, Calabria could still see the match to the end as he was way better than royal. He could have also changed his formation to a two striker seeing that he needs the goal and the points.
He has the players ready to come on and change the game. My take is that Liberali should be promoted to the senior team and let him be a back up to pulisic. RLC has no business playing CAM for this team

      1. I guess you are right. But I did say that RLC shouldn’t have stayed; and that Liberali seems to be a better CAM than RLC despite his age.

    2. Best comment here. And yeah, the Pavlovic was great. The only silver lining in this match. He saved at least two goals and won his 1-on-1s, unlike the player he sent to the bench.

It’s clear the players that went deep in the Euros are out of sorts. They’re tired and probably not in synch with Fonseca’s schemes. We have depth at most of their positions except…LB and striker. I think the club should stop their efforts to sign another midfield and focus on signing another no. 9 and a proper backup for Theo. Pinamonti should have been brought in to to backup Morata, but he went to Genoa. Lucca has the same statistics and thus around the same price. He scored today….

    3. What could Fonseca have done? Seriously?!

How about train the team and give them a miniscule of identity?! If the team can’t play good football in defense nor attack against newly promoted side with inferior players it’s the coaches fault and this shouldn’t take a genius to understand. Specially since it happened for the second time after the Torino match.

14, 15 high level players won’t suddenly start acting confused and underperform all at the same time against inferior players for no reason across two matches, unless it’s the coaches fault. Jesus.

      1. You are a RLC fan and think he performed well and it’s the manager’s fault they lost? Brilliant, I would say quit your day job and become a football analyst but I doubt you have a job.

  22. y biggest problem from Fonseca in this game was the obvious starting lineup with Musah in it just cos the game was being broadcast in the US. The other one is the fact RLC played the entire game. My god!!!
Idc what anyone says, we need bennacer. They better not sell him. There was no creativity with RLC and Musah in the game.
Ibrahimovic experience needs to be questioned too. There’s no way we had more qualified coaches available and he went for the obedient one.
I’m not giving up on Fonseca yet tho he needs time. We will see how it goes.

    1. This comment about Musah is misguided. The Milan-ManCity friendly was in the US, broadcast on ESPN, and Musah and Pulisic didn’t even play.

ALL Serie A games are broadcast live in the United States for the last 5 years. All of them, all 10 games each round, plus all Coppa Italia and all Italian clubs’ games in the Champions, Europa and Conference. The game being broadcast to the USA is nothing new. Sure, it was also on CBS but Paramount+ (which is owned by CBS) has been showing all the games for five years, now. This is their 6th year showing all Serie A games.

Musah actually did well against Torino so I guess Fonseca was hoping he’d do the same tonight (he didn’t).

      1. This was actually the first time I’ve seen a serie a game broadcast live on CBS. Yes I have paramount+ but never seen a game on CBS.
You’re right the showed the preseason games on ESPN but it was preseason. A competitive game is different.

It’s gonna be a long season tho so let’s all be patient for now.

  23. If this coach continues like this, it’s possible he won’t last as Milan coach in October. He has no excuse in losing today’s match. We were suppose to take the game to them and not the other way round. Bennacer is still one of the best midfielder we have currently aside tijjani. Their partnership has been more dynamic

  24. We look exactly the same as under Pioli. The only difference I can see is that we are asking players who were awful in the defensive transition last season to press even higher and leave even bigger holes.

How can the players look this disinterested 2 matches into a managers reign? It was exactly like watching Pioli’s last few death rolls.

I thought Pav was outstanding in the second half, personally. That is the only positive though. Absolute disaster.

    1. All the players look uninterested in the game is the main problem for me. There was no energy in the match compared to the one against torino.

  25. Disagree with the ratings.
    Maignan -6.5
    Calabria – 5
    Tomori – 5.5
    Pavlovic – 6.5
    Theo – 4.5
    Musah – 5
    Reijnders – 6.5
    Pulisic – 6
RLC – 4 Why does he keep getting 90 minutes?
    Leao – 5
    Okafor – 5
    Emerson – 5
    Fofana – 5.5

  26. Anybody miss Pioli yet? The grass is not always greener. You can’t have your defenders playing thus high up the pitch. It’s pure madness. Every time Milan turned it over they were in big trouble. I know everyone wants to blame the midfield but honestly Parma was just bypassing our midfield altogether. Just long diagonal balls over the top and our fullbacks are nowhere to be found.
Somebody needs to tell me what position Theo is playing because it’s not fullback. He’s higher up the pitch than Leao most of the time and then jogging back. Calabria was terrible as usual always out of position then lacking the pace to catch up.
The rating for Pavlovic is harsh. I thought he was a beast, but literally he and Tomori were the only defenders on the pitch. Just left on an island. Milan need a defense first approach to straighten this out.

    1. Not missing him one bit. Don’t forget that our Scudetto winning coach still hasn’t got any new gig yet. And the closest club who wanted to get him is from Arab.

The only worse thing that can happen is to replace him with the least exciting and the least convincing figure in Fonseca. I might be wrong but so far so bad.

      1. Pioli not having a new gig doesn’t mean anything about his ability.
Klopp doesn’t have a new club – are you saying he is not an elite manage? What a dumb statement.

        1. Klopp? Really? He clearly stated that he needed a career break after Liverpool. While Pioli, he directly said he needed to work on his English after his last match with Milan. Hinting he’s been approached by EPL club. Hows that play out? Lol. What a dumb statement.

    2. Curious to see no mention of your boy RLC in your comment.

Care to talk a little about him and his 90 minutes as the great attacking midfielder that he is?

      1. How was he worse than anyone else? Worse than Leao who hit every shit a mile over the goal and who’s turnover lead to the second goal? Worse than Theo who has zero interest in playing defense and jogged back on the first goal rather than marking his man?
Worse than Calabria who is always out of position and too slow to stay with anyone, both things evident on the first goal. Worse than Okafor who did nothing except for completely missing on 2 shots inside the box?
        Was Musah better today? How?
I don’t think anyone had a good game today other than maybe Pavlovic who showed some really good things. So not sure how it’s on RLC or how he was Worse than the other players
And I don’t care what this guy rated him, he gave Pavlovic a bad rating who was probably Milans best player today.

        1. We all know the things you said about the other players though. We know Leao creates goals out of nothing and misses some others. We know Calabria is just bad. We know Okafor isn’t a striker. We also know RLC is an average player who isn’t fit to start for Milan certainly not as an attacking midfielder. That’s one thing we knew and you didn’t. That was the whole point. Glad you GET IT now.

          1. Get what exactly? That you guys have an irrational hate for RLC ? I already knew that. I never said he was great , I said he’s unfairly criticized on here which you guys are just proving my point when in a game where everyone was bad and many were more responsible than him, you want to single him out. I said he did a good job for us last season and the stats back it up. I still think him at AMF and Pulisic on the RW is our best option. That’s not where the problem lies with this team. It’s our defenders being way too high up the pitch and one of them jogging back while theother one is too slow to get back. Add to that Reijnders doesn’t play any defense either. But I’m sure you’re right, if we just replaced RLC with who exactly,?? Everything would be fixed. Now I Get it.

          2. If we replace RLC with a proper attacking midfielder, then everything wouldn’t be fixed, but one would be fixed. Get it? I’m glad.

  27. The overlapping play of Theo left us exposed and over crowded in the attacking half. Theo taking up the wide areas forced Leao into the center and just wasn’t working. I want Theo to get forward but to pick his runs and more so in transition. On the other flank RLC was squeezing Pulisic to the touch line which isn’t his best position and RLC is useless when asked to create anything that isn’t from transition so him more central was not a good idea.

Feels like we are watching reruns from last season. Our defense is leaky, our midfielders won’t run at anyone, and Pulisic finds a way to be in the right place at the right time.

The strength of our attackers are pace and dribbling, those attributes mean little when you build so slow my mum could mark you and the defense just has to sit back and wait for a turnover.

We keep screwing around with the line up when we should play with more urgency and perhaps we will be get better results.

  28. Remember when everyone was scapegoating Pioli, Bennacer and Giroud? I remember. And when everyone was questioning why Pioli didn’t play Jovic or Okafor from the start because Giroud “offered nothing other than flicks”?

Discarding Pioli for Fonseca was dumb. Discarding Bennacer would be foolish. The only way this works is Bennacer – Fofana as double pivot and Tiji number 10.

That said, Fonseca needs more time – he has correctly identified the problems, hopefully he realises how to fix them. But seeing how quickly the fan base turned on Pioli (who had credit in the bank), I don’t see how this doesn’t get toxic by November.

  29. Milan mgm had the chance to sign Dezerbi or Thiago Motta but kept dragging their until they ended up the left over. Nice job Milan, another wasted season !!!

    1. I’m convinced De Zerbi’s football would work wonders in a big team. He would steamroll all the smaller sides at least.

You give Pep an aveage team and he would lose half the matches with his style of football and his high pressing. They need top players.

Madness to prefer Fonseca over him but Fonseca is a yes man while De Zerbi has charisma and character, two things the Americans won’t like in their coach.

  30. “Pavlovic: the defending on the second goal was really poor, as he even looked at the striker multiple times and still failed to pick him up.”

WTF?! The best Milan player on the pitch today. He single-handedly saved at least 3 or 4 goals. And watch the replay on the winning goal… He had two men to mark. Where was Theo? Who started Parma’s attack? Where was Royal and why was he only jogging instead of running? Where was the midfield? Just ridiculous to blame Pavlovic and give him such a low rating.

    1. Leao literally gave the 2nd goal.
And as a big Milan fan, I’m for the umpteenth time disappointed in his attitude to the game.

      1. Something is consistent. You prepare for the game but get to the game to do otherwise. It’s crazy!!!

Coach needs balls to bench the big guys
        Leao>RLC> both of them especially.

As a big Leao fan, I’m utterly disappointed.
Leao’s attitude is out of it. And maybe guys are playing to run down management, and that’s why coach must start benching those that play against prepared plan

    1. Bennacer’s old news!

He’s been at the club too long and the longer a player is at the club the less they’re liked.

Everyone is so fast at the traps to defend the new signings.

  31. Something is consistent. You prepare for the game but get to the game to do otherwise. It’s crazy!!!

Coach needs balls to bench the big guys
    Leao>RLC> both of them especially.

Leao’s attitude is out of it. And maybe guys are playing to run down management, and that’s why coach must start benching those that play against prepared plan

  32. In as much as the coach has to take part of the blame, I don’t think milan has players who will fight any day for the club. I don’t see us having any meaningful impact these season with these crop of lazy players. Not sure Pavlovic and Fofana will be enough. Royal?… I guess I will take back Calabria

  33. Y’all neec to stop watching the back of your TV. Pavlović is the reason we weren’t humiliated. He is the only one that deserves rating above 6.5.

Theo, Calabria, RLC, Emerson below 3.

  34. The funny thing is Fonseca was the one who criticised the high press Milan played under Pioli plus the lack of compactness when defending yet it was exactly that kind of play that lost us both games and yes drawing in front of 75k at San Siro against Torino is a loss for me. And yes Pavlovic was the only one who deserves a pass rhis game

  35. To me, Leao has been found out. He wants to push the ball 5 yards down the field and beat you to it. Defenders are just stepping in front of him. On the goal he was moving forward when he received the ball. On the second goal, wtf. You try and switch the ball to your fullback who is running forward almost in the final third. Too risky. Theo is all ready up high, so the defense is exposed. Calabria on the first goal had a player five yards behind him run past him. Yes, Theo didn’t cover the back post, but he was pushed high and it was difficult to get back. A lot of stupid play.

  36. The coach needs to use the players before relegating them to the bench. A lot of our players are still having issues tracking back, leaving the defense vulnerable. Our opponents can see this. Leao took a lot of wrong decisions, Okafor had a bad day, while Theo was away on holidays with the attackers. With Reijnders and Loftus-Cheek pushing forward with the attackers, we don’t need Theo going with them all the time. Thank GOD for Pavlovic and Mike; we could have conceded more. Overall, this loss helps us to see our flaws, and, ways to improve. The attack has improved a lot; the middle trio will become obvious with time; Pavlovic/Tomori partnership will get better. Biggest concern is the wings where our opponents counter easily.

  37. Pavlovic is my man of the match. I don’t care what the post said.
RLC needs to leave the club, retain bennecer, Royal was poor but still has time to prove us wrong.
Leao needs to leave the club. I’ve seen enough of his misplaced passes that puts the defence under pressure. The second goal is a perfect example.
Theo needs to be benched, man has been working too much from different competitions.
This match and even from the previous match Theo hasn’t been helping the defence off the ball.
We had Columbo now we’re struggling with a good no 9, okafor is never a CF but a SS at best.
Jovic hasn’t impressed so let him go.
Fosenca needs time to phase out the pioli virus happening to Theo and Leao.
The build up play is as slow as pioli decision to make first sub.
We lose the ball faster than the speed of light no thanks to Leao.
The team in pre season did a better job showcasing Fonseca’s ideas.

  38. Without Pavlovic the score would be even more disastrous. A true work horse.

Now I won’t pass my overall judgement just yet cause it’s only matchday 2 but I was expecting improvements from previous match. Instead it was even worse. 4 goals in first 2 matches. Only Montella had it worse (6 goals in first 2 matches) in last decade.

  39. I think our new defender should be milans man of the match cos see the interception he did.was solid second half if not we would have been in trouble ,tomori needs to talk more n direct things as Maldini,Nesta Gattuso did so he needs to step up

    1. This was supposed to be in reply to @ACM1899 comment:

      “How Pavlo gets a 5.5 is a mystery….“

Agree – without him we would have conceded another 3 goals….weird rating

        1. He could always try and get Tomori’s spot. It shouldn’t take much but Tomori was bought for ****loads of money so maybe not.

  40. I wont comment any wasted chances or leaky defence. I just have one rly simple question- WHY are we paying Leao 7mil ? The guy is a handbrake that is stopping the whole team from success. And before dozen of you “real” Milan fans start attacking me in the comments just answer me this- What did Leao do in this game apart dribble past his defender once? Nowhere to be found in attack nor defence, not pressing opponents and so on, cant dreibble…. Like we had a red card and played with 1 less player. Great season ahead of us boys.

  41. It’s hilarious watching people implode. It’s only game 2. New players, new system, new manager. This team has all of the components needed to win the Scudetto but you all want the scudetto somehow won in August.

    1. Well 1 point out of 6 available in first 2 matches is worrying. 4 goals conceded from 2 matches as well. What’s even more worrying is that our preseason was positive (really overhyped by many here) and now we’re in shambles at the start when it really matters. How do you think this affects the players mentally? Lads are probably starting to doubt themselves after going into season full of confidence taken from our preseason.

    1. Cardinale’s number 1 mistake is that he trusted behind kissers to manage a club like milan. They just wasted his money. Furlani, moncada and ibra should stay away from managment roles. They can go to inter if they want, destroy that club instead of ours. Cardinale has spent more money than we all thought he would.

  42. Those of you blaming the players, especially our stars like Leao, Theo, Maginan are fools, once they leave we’ll fully revert to banter era while they flourish in bigger well coached teams.

All that to say our issues have consistently stemmed from poor coaches(ing). Had we signed a decent to great coach you’d see the difference (never going to get over the fact we could’ve got Ancelotti back in 2019 and let him go to Real instead).

    1. Blame stars 😂😂😂 good you look this milan and enjoy at them,At the end they will left club free and your club will be at 12 place at table

  43. Milan lack quality player. The management only concern about bringing low quality player to the club. Fonseca is not a top level coach, to manage this players, like bringing the best out of them.
RLC is not suppose to be a starter at a top level club like Milan. Calabra should be sold. Milan is not playing as a team, we need tictac style of play, to overcame seria A. And I believe that we will became invisible. Let go and get man city assitant manager, to take over the club, give him some top level player that’s all.

  44. Inot since Inter killed us completely have I seen us play so bad defensively. Arguably it’s tough going 1-0 down after 3 minutes. But we shouldn’t let the defence be so open. Better balance is needed ASAP. We can’t play Musah in the double pivot or whatever it’s called. And RLC has completely lost any spark. Theos new hairdo didn’t help him very much today as he didn’t do much right.

  45. The attack is predictable. The reset to midfielders over and over. People saying Pulisic off/tired but kid was constantly making runs and the guys behind him were too intent in swinging it back around and continually missed him. He was frustrated several times.

    1. Absolutely true. He also had a nice shot that Suzuki made a decent save on.

In fairness, though, CP put in a number of mediocre crosses. Not terrible, skied it into Row Z crosses, but too close to the keeper and “didn’t get over the defender” crosses.

  46. Look we all wish the new coach, players the best.
The fact is the team that wins scudetto usually don’t lose more than 4 games.

We have given ourselves a serious shot in the foot

    1. *sorry, been drinking, birthday.

They obviously drew the first game. I guess it’s just felt like they lost.

      Onwards and upwards please!

Still can’t believe we swapped Kalulu for Emerson

  47. We deserved to lose against Torino, and we deserved to lose by at least 3 clear goals here. Enough said.

The team plays horribly, the kind that wasn’t seen since the days of Giampaolo, but hey, I’m sure the Americans know what they’re doing. I mean, Fonseca has great achievements and a strong resume… right?!

Anyways, All Hail Cardinale, All Hail Furlani, All Hail Zlatan the clown, and last but not least All Hail Fonseca the winner.

  48. Isak Moller, my man, if you seriously think Tomori was not at fault on either goals, was not the weak link of the defense, and did better than Pavlovic, then you need to do something else for a living. I’m serious and I say this with affection.

The rest of your ratings are spot-on for once, but that thing alone ruins everything.

    1. It’s not just Tomori. There’s not. Defensive transition phase. We’re out of balance pushing forward. If Parma can slice through us this easy on a counter, imagine what Inter will do…

      1. Yeah for sure the problem is the team as a whole and it’s on the coach. You put even Calabria in an ideal structure like Inter and suddenly he wouldn’t be so bad.

Tomori is the same, but he’s just not a very good defender. He has really good speed for a center-back, like Rudiger, but that’s where the similarities en.

  49. My takeaways on players:

Early, Calabria showed how slow he is and why we need somebody faster at RB. But Royal was worse if anything and looked completely lost going forward.

I see what Fonseca is trying to do with the counter-pressing, but many players are not getting it yet. People were giving RLC a hard time, but his counter-pressing looked in sync. Leao did not, and Theo did not. I hope this gets better with time.

Theo looked like he was still at the beach. He needs to play his way back into shape and in the meantime just needs to stay further back.

Pavlovic was a revelation. What a find! I worry he’s a little undisciplined, but he was best performer by far today. He was good in the air on set pieces and made some great defensive plays, plus played on a yellow without fouling for a good chunk of the game.

Leao totally made the Milan goal. Puli was good otherwise. His defensive work is solid, as well as other parts. I didn’t love RLC continually dragging wide. It came off a couple times that Puli slipped him through, but things were mostly just too crowded.

In retrospect, Theo does not have the legs yet and should have stayed deeper, left Leao wide left with Okafor on the left half channel and let RLC be the other target for crosses, with Puli mostly staying wide right, with Reijnders the wildcard showing in the box and Musah a little deeper focused on counterpressing. The counter press was just not good and that’s why they looked so bad. If you don’t win the ball back, you get burned.

What I saw was lots of players not quite knowing what to do and a bunch that were not doing the work.

  50. what do we expect when we shop around for rejects from top clubs? sure theres the occasional diamond in the rough but emerson, rlc, etc. never had what it takes to make it in a top team.

  51. Deserves to lose.

    Fonseca is Giampolo 2.0.

I don’t know what Fonseca teach at daily training but it feels like he wants the team to forget how defend and attack properly.

And it’s crystal clear Fonseca doesn’t have a clue how Serie-A works. Parma aiming for a fast counter but he still asked the team to used high defense line without midfield who can defense which is nuts.

I’m curious how long Fonseca gonna stay at Milan before the management put him in the chopping block.

  52. Can someone please explain why anyone is shocked at these results and I’m not?

Ac milan resembles serie a very well indeed I guess that’s why here in the UK tnt sports has cut Italian football matches to just two a weekend.

  53. AC Milan will struggle badly to win games when the ball is always kept between the backline with their never ending square passing going nowhere and wasting precious time. The coach is at fault and realistically he hasn’t brought ANYTHING new to this team. A lot of hype with buying new players with no success where as other teams with less famous players are making monkeys of AC Milan. Fix the coachinging department to win games.

  54. One takeway is that we need a new striker. I was against a new one, but Okafor and Jovic are clearly not cut to play as lone strikers. Sell/loan one of them and get a striker even on loan.
Honestly, if we can’t handle counter attacks, might as well stop playing high and start parking the bus like Atletico Madrid. It’s ugly, but maybe we’re not cut for the “pretty” style.
Today all the players, with the exception of Pavlovic (and again not for the entire game) and Maignan looked awful, and I mean really awful, but aside from that, there was no collective play, no ideas, no buildup whatsoever, it’s almost like they’ve never played together before.
What was the point of this US Tour ?

  55. Pulisic and Reijnders were good. Pulisic above all for his great mentality. Always getting himself involved and that’s how he’s gotten the goal ,eager to make things happen when in possession and never shy of helping out in defence.

  56. Can’t blame the coach when the players aren’t defending properly. There was zero urgency in both phases. Even at the 90th minute Milan players had zero urgency to get the ball back.

It was like they thought they were facing a big team that would attack them, so they could play on the counter, and when Parma just passed the ball around in their own half, the Milan players didn’t know what to do.

  57. RLC, Musah, Okafor, Chukweze, Calabria need to go. If the club is serious they need to sell these mediocre players and get better quality players.
Stop selling the best players – Tonali, Bennacer, Kessie, Kalulu, Brahim, Rebic, etc. You can’t expect Leao Or Theo after selling the players that actually create chances and play proper football.

  58. Pulisic’s sprint to the spot (stayed onside) where he tapped it in, was nice.

RLC waits on the ball all the time, doesn’t go to it.

  59. RLC, Musah, Okafor, Chukweze, Calabria need to go. If the club is serious they need to sell these mediocre players and get better quality players.
Stop selling the best players – Tonali, Bennacer, Kessie, Kalulu, Brahim, Rebic, etc. You can’t expect Leao Or Theo to do some magic every match after selling the players that actually create chances and play proper football. Stop saying Theo and Leao are not doing anything. They can’t do anything because the good players who would link up with them were all sold and you got some really crappy players to balance the account books. You need quality players, not some rejects of EPL clubs to make the team better.

      1. I agreed with you that we shouldn’t sell half the squad when the league just started.

But i also agreed with him that the management keeps making big mistake by selling our important players and replaced them with some mediocre players.

        1. Yes I’ve disagreed with most of the transfer decisions in the last 20 years but a common cause of bad decisions are panic and a lack of patience (and swapping half the squad every few years).

          1. That’s why experienced managers are crucial. They know the weak spots that need reinforcements. And buy proper players. We haven’t sold anyone yet, so we’ll have more origis next season. Most importantly, we had kessie, inform ben, die hard milan fan tonali, even sometimes creative diaz. All the midfielders that we have now are average or below average, (except fofana that we haven’t seen yet). We have quantity bit not quality. And that’s just bad transfer strategy. Cardinale has spent the money, but its been wasted by clueless management and blame everyone but himself ibra.

    1. It’s debatable if Kalulu Bennacer are still some of our best players, we didn’t sell Diaz or Kessie, and Rebic had turned into poop.

  60. Let’s hope that Fonseca’s having another slow start.

It’s Serie A. Anyone can beat anyone.

Love the instant loyalty to the new signings v hatred towards anyone who’s been at the club for more than 5 mins.

You’ve got love the loyalty around this place. Makes it all worthwhile.

  61. Next week is away match against Lazio which my guess is it will be another 3 points loss.

And Bennacer pretty much confirmed to leave which is nuts. The management keeps trading our important players with mediocre players.

  62. After sometime, I accepted that ACM lossed to Parma at Tardini with Asprilla, Zola, Bennarivo, Thomas Brolin on their team. But now, oh no…will see.

  63. Moncada should be sacked for his insistence on signing Emerson. Anyone whose seen him at Barca and Spurs knows he’s garbage. We could have got Bellanova for a little more.

  64. What was the point of preseason?

Most of the players who played aren’t at the club any more or have been sent to Futuro.

We didn’t sign players in key positions until late so these players are still getting to know each other.

  65. RLC has been so lazy tracking back and tracking his man… also Theo feels unmotivated.

Either RLC steps up or just sits on the bench.

  66. This new coach is not good for the team. The same happened when he was with Roma. Besides we need to have a REAL centre forward. Otherwise this season will be a disaster.

  67. Pavlovic was excellent and Reijnders too. The only 2 bright spots in the match. Theo so lazy on that first. Calabria has been garbage and an embarrassment for a long time; but if Theo did his job, he could’ve bailed out Calabria and we don’t go down 1-0 94 seconds into the match. Emerson, even if he’s not as great as we hope, will still be worlds better than Calabria and he needs to get used to the team. Leao set up the CP goal nicely; but he and Theo need to start playing like the superstars that they SHOULD be (consistently). Leao’s terrible give away caused the 2nd Parma goal. Can’t have that and he needs to start finishing some chances for goals.
I’m so disappointed we let Kalulu go to Juve — he’s far better at RB than Calabria.
