Player Ratings: PSG 3-0 AC Milan – Krunic and Leao let the Rossoneri down

AC Milan failed to find the back of the net once again in the Champions League and thus lost the crucial game against PSG by three goals to nil. Several players were poor and below are the player ratings for the Rossoneri.

Starting XI

Maignan (6.5): He couldn’t do anything about the goals, and especially didn’t get any help on the second one, but he made a great save on Mbappe in the second half. Also, his distribution was the only thing creating chances for Milan tonight.

Kalulu (5.5): He was missing on the first goal, when Tomori needed him the most, but that looked more like a tactical error. In any case, the youngster could have done better defensively but was the only one comfortable in possession, which helps his rating a bit.

Tomori (5.5): On the first goal, not much can be done against a player like Mbappe, he needed support for sure. But on the disallowed goal, he needed to do better and he couldn’t quite keep up with the pace today. He was the only one awake on that corner before the 2-0, though, which is some sort of plus I guess.

Fikayo Tomori

Thiaw (5): He lost the battle with Kolo Muani immediately and got booked for another silly foul. He did okay after that but was rightfully taken off at half-time.

Hernandez (5): Wearing the captain’s armband, he needed to do much better in both phases of the game. His end product wasn’t good enough when going forward and the defending was subpar, as seen on the 3-0 goal when he just didn’t follow his man.

Musah (6): Apart from Maignan, he’s the only player in the starting eleven who gets a pass today. He covered a lot of ground and was okay in possession, above all helping set up a few chances with some interceptions.

Krunic (4): Yikes. He got booked very early after a lazy giveaway and then was incredibly sloppy with his passing, which you cannot be as the No.6. In the second half, he was a ghost and that became even more clear when Adli replaced him.

Reijnders (5.5): He had good intentions going forward, beating his man here and there to open up space, but he wasn’t good enough defensively tonight. Of course, that shouldn’t really be his duty, but more could be asked especially on the first goal.

Pulisic (5): This rating looks harsh, seeing as he had some good dribbles and created more concrete chances than his opposite man, but he also missed a huge chance at 1-0. He had so much time to just bring down the ball and shoot. Not only was passing the wrong decision, but he also executed it poorly.

Christian Pulisic

Giroud (5): Won some duels but also lost many. In fairness, whenever it looked like he had got into a good position the cross didn’t arrive. Still too invisible though.

Leao (4.5): Where do we even begin? He has clearly lost something over the last few weeks. He struggled in the battle with Lucas Hernandez and his decision-making was way off tonight. When he had a 1v1 opportunity, he decided to shoot. When he should have crossed it near post, he delivered it to the far post. The list goes on. Sacchi is going to have a field day with this, unfortunately.

Substitutes

Calabria (5.5): Got done by Mbappe once but aside from that, he did okay defensively.

Adli (6): Milan needed his passing from the start as they started to create some momentum by simply getting the ball into the right spaces.

Pobega (N/A): We didn’t see enough to give him a rating.

Kjaer (N/A): We didn’t see enough to give him a rating.

    1. Also, how the heck does Musah gets a pass (6) when he was tucking in his socks & then walking around in the box during the corner when the goal second was scored?

    2. The way he got the yellow was almost identical when he got the red vs Juve. The only difference is that he’s not the last man. Man, that kid didn’t learn.

      1. Maybe he will learn some day that if a player is fast, you need to stay between him and the goal, not next to him, or you’ll get burnt.

    1. I agree. I think Milan needs a new manager. Been saying for a while. Talented players but no direction and their style of play is to slow and boring.

      1. I’m sure if we fire pioli city, barca, real and all the top teams will pay millions to bring pioli in. Please, yes he won the scudetto but that was a fluke. Literally he hasn’t played one game since scudetto with the same game play. We sat deep and the strongest defense at that year. Relied on fast counters. I don’t think we played with that tactic ever since, except a game or two.

        1. It wasn’t a fluke.

You can’t fluke 38 matches or 2 year title form.

Show some respect or go somewhere else.

You’ll just turn on whoever we bring in to replace him. And over and over again.

          1. Honest question: do you think Pioli is getting the best out of this squad and that they are playing good football?

I see a disjointed team that could benefit from a new manager. They don’t seem to be a solid squad that is cohesive and difficult to play against.

You do have loyalty, I’ll give you that. It looks to be like it’s bordering on too much loyalty.

          2. Pioli is one of three managers in Serie A to have won a Scudetto.

The other two are Allegri (who we fired and collapsed into the wilderness) and Mourinho.

Pioli also just a few months ago met and beat expectations in the league and Champions League.

So the question is – what more do fans want?

If Pioli does get fired then there’s a good chance he could be replaced by Conte…..

Hopefully he can hang on longer than Mourinho and then Conte can go to Roma.

My preference would be to wait until the end of the season and see if he meets and beats expectations…again.

          3. Pioli is not good enough to coach a team in a high ranking tournaments. But forget about the results for two year where the other teams were struggling and in the locker there was zelatan who brings aggression and conformity to the team. He is not a coach to get his team out of a complex situation. Last year we sat on fifth actually. He has no plans with different games and it is crystal clear. He never accept his mistakes for example regarding using Krunic in this game which was considerably a mistake. He also is the main problem for his long listed injuries he has always because of preseason preparation. And we spent a lot this season and i dont think we would get a place better than 4th. We lose simple matches also very regularly. I hope he is gone very soon however there are no good coach is at hand these days.

      2. Pioli delivered the scudetto? There are some of the main factor that season milan become scudetto, the biggest are: first, we gain momentum after the slip of inter who is obove us in the table that season, second: the performance of our key players like leao was on peak, third: the ibrahimovics factor in the dressing room. Pioli of course as a coach has a role but many coach can do that if the main factors above exist. But if you mean with “delivered” is like deliver a package in fedEx i think you right pioli has delivered the scudetto.

          1. Fair weather fans man. Every win they praise everybody except the coach and every loss is the coaches fault. It’s annoying actually

          2. @ Sawo kecik There’s difference between ‘different opinions’ and ‘different loyalties”.

If I gave the ‘opinion’ that, in my opinion, I preferred Inter to Milan, well that wouldn’t make me very loyal would it?

It would also make supporting Milan a bit pointless when I prefer our rivals.

What is the point of supporting a club where you don’t like the manager and some players, dismiss any successes as ‘flukes’, and for which you just generally show the opposite of loyalty?

            Supporting a club is voluntary.

          3. Yet he still wouldn’t get a job offer from a single top 6 team. Cope more about the guy who’s been here 4 years and still has no tactics

          4. This is our support for Milan. We don’t want Milan to be beaten like that, hence we want revolution in coaching and tactics. Yes Pioli won scudetto, also Zaccheroni and Allegri. If they can not live up to the standard, if they can not fulfill the objective then they have to go. I love Milan and I don’t want Milan to be humiliated by poor squad and strategy selection.

          5. Sarri has won the serie A aswell, and it is the fault of Max Allegri we sold Pirlo (because he wouldn’t fit into his plans) and made Juve a powerhouse for another decade… Loyalty to a mediocre manager can set you back lightyears… Allegri has many nearly UCL trophies too, guess what .. they count for nothing if you don’t win it

          6. Lol..I never said that manager has absolutely nothing with anything..i said the about the main factor milan got scudetto, if you cant read simple words just fine thats youre problem.

          7. just because they vent their anger to pioli doesn’t mean they don’t loyal to milan as a club. you have to realize that they are milanisti not piolinisti,

      3. Pioli would win nothing without Zlatan. And we won that Scudetto also because of luck, our bro Sinisa and his Bologna presented us against Inter in that postponed game. It was really magic lol.

        1. Finishing top after 38 games can not ever be described as luck.

And I’m someone who believes luck plays a massive role in life.

But over 38 matches the best team wins.

      1. Do not tell me what to do !!! I love Milan from the first am watching it. Milan is not yours, Sack Pioli for the better Coach…..

    1. As a long time milan fan and at this point fed up with pioli, i hope we win against napoli and make it to the top 4 at the end of the season. Hopefully, at the end of the season we find e better coach.

    2. A couple of things are becoming clear :

      1. You are not a fan of Milan
      2. You are an idiot

Either get behind the club or get lost.

    1. Ah yes after so many new players the problem is still in the players. When will you people learn that a good coach gets the best out of the players. Look how Guardiola turns players in to super stars. Pioli destroys super stars.

      1. Laughable at best. Name me one superstar in this Milan team outside of Maignan, and (maybe) Theo?

Pioli is doing as good as he cans with the team he has available. Would be beyond idiotic to fire him but this should be a call for fans to take their fans glasses off.

        1. You completely miss what i wrote in the first comment. Give Leao to Gardiola and you will see. Also who picked all the new players if they are not good enough now too? Wasnt Pioli the one who was consulted about players that will fit in his “tactics” ? So what now he didnt understood his own tactics well enough in order to pick the right players lol? They can give him a 65mil mid like Paqueta and if he just keeps him on the bench or dosent know how to use him it wont matter.

      2. Guardiola signed guys like haaland, grealish, gvardiol all 100m+ or value is 100m+. Pioli’s biggest signing was a struggling pulisic. Leao,Hernandez, bennacer, tonali even maignan weren’t well known before pioli and Milan. Milan hasn’t signed a superstar in years.

      3. Which players do Guardiola turn to superstar. Haalabd is a generational talent, Grealish is bought for 100m, Walker 50m even John stones 50m. Milan don’t have that kind of budget. Pioli is doing the best he can with that squad. Psg without Mbappe is an average team at best.

  1. Still waiting for those guys who defended Krunic just a few weeks ago, with the most laughable and idiotic opinions, Ohh yes he gives so much stability, a guy in his position doesn’t need to dribble, he keeps it simple, he is good at defending. My dear god, he doesn’t even know how to stop a ball, like in the play he got booked.

This team will not be successful until Krunic is vanished from the starting eleven.

    1. No, they have been slowly backing off of their opinions since Adli came in and showed them that a DM can actually distribute the ball and contribute to the offense as well. And that we didn’t lose a game while Krunic was out but now that he’s back we’ve dropped the last 2. IDKWYDLS

        1. Comical implies this is a laughing matter.

That you’re reveling in the struggles of our manager, one of our longest serving players, and the team.

How is any of this funny?

        1. Scudetto and a semi-final in the Champions League puts him in the top 1% of human beings to have ever played the game.

But hey I’m sure you’ve had great success. At your keyboard.

          1. You could say the same thing about Tatarasanu. Now do you see how stupid you sound? Probably not. But you are the only one that doesn’t see it.

          2. @ K And indeed the same would apply to Tatarasanu or any player from the squad that in actual verifiable historical fact, won the Scudetto and got the semi-finals of the Champions League.

Maybe you need to ask yourself whether chasing mythical Galácticos is the ticket to success that you think it is.

  2. A frustrating watch, this is a very unserious coach. I really want to know the yardstick for starting Krunic and allowing him play 75mins cus dude was invincible all through. Match after match, it becomes clear that we have a coaching problem and this champions League has highlighted it plainly even Newcastle the newcomers have goals to thier name and were flying high against PSG, but we got schooled all because of poor coaching..

    1. If this game doesn’t show everyone how Pioli’s insane and irrational love for Krunic is hurting the team, nothing will. He had every reason to take Krunic off early. He picked up an early yellow, he was doing absolutely nothing, and the team was playing terribly. Still he leaves him in until the 75th minute. They say love makes you do crazy things, but this is ridiculous.

  3. Just can’t believe it pulisic had such an easy chance and missed …I feel for Olivier Giroud,,,worked hard as usual,,got into some decent positions ,but the ball ⚽️ just did not arrive ..midfield created nothing ,,,I have to admit when Aldi came on at least he could pass the ball …As for rafeol leao ,,,I am afraid he tried to much to be a hero ,rather than deliver decent crosses in ..
The team was poor all round ..
Let us now focus on the scuddeto .We can win it .
We definitely need Loftus cheek back ..

  4. The way he got the yellow was almost identical when he got the red vs Juve. The only difference is that he’s not the last man. Man, that kid didn’t learn.

  5. Pioli is on his way out, and his love for Krunic is the reason he will lose his job. He had no business starting this game. He’s coming off an injury and looked like the worst player on the pitch against Juventus and Pioli rewards him with a start here. He was terrible and you could instantly see the difference when Adli came in. It’s a joke at this point that Krunic is still starting.
And pioli taking off Musah who was one of the few players who didn’t look intimidated by the moment was another mistake
The Rating for Pulisic is harsh as he was the one creating the few opportunities that they had.
Reijnders.. if you are going to grab somebody, f%!*ing grab them! That first goal is on him with that weak attempt to foul his man when he should’ve just grabbed him and took the foul. And lets be honest, outside of the first two games of the season he has not been good. This team actually really misses RLC.
Finally, Leao has to do better. He is our most dangerous player but he is so wasteful! He shoots when he should pass, he passes when he should shoot. He needs to be more direct. When Mbappe had a defender 1 v1 he went straight at him and took the shot. Leao had a couple similar opportunities but does not go straight at the defender. Always out wide. He’s the only player that always goes to his weak foot, it’s bizarre.
Pioli is a terrible offensive coach. He truly has no ideas and the team does not pass well or move off the ball. zero goals in 3 games. It’s just not good enough.
Only bright spot is Dortmund beating Newcastle so we are only 2 points back of both but we need to start winning.

    1. I forget to mention Thiaw. His stupidity is becoming alarming. He literally got beat by the same exact move that Keane pulled on him 3 days ago and gets a yellow not 10 minutes into the game. Meanwhile we have an intelligent defender in Kjaer on the bench.

        1. OK. Milan had more clean sheets (9) in the 17 games Kjaer started last season and only 8 in the 30 plus games where he did not. And when is the last time you saw Kjaer get a stupid red card? Can’t say the same for Thiaw or Tomori.

  6. At this point I am not calling any player out. This loss is squarely on Pioli, if you can’t get a team selection right, manage your team well, and motivate your players, then you can’t win such games. I know people will say psg has a bigger budget etc etc….However, a team should have a backbone and not lose as we lost in similar manner last season with a squad with less quality players.

  7. Leao is so much of a lazy and arrogant sod
Pioli is a tactless and clueless wimp
    Krunic-Pioli connection is too suspicious
Watching AC Milan play ball is so frustrating and tiring

  8. Milan and Benfica are the only teams in this year’s UCL edition that are yet to score a goal.
Milan hasn’t scored a goal in UCL in 5 straight games, and only 3 goals scored in the last 9 games. Grande Pioli should have been fired alongside the other 2 last summer. Tactically inept coach
    Milan supposed 2 best players.
Leao, 3 years in the UCL total of 2 (TWO) goals scored.
Theo, 3 years in UCL zero goals and only 3 assists.
Keep that in mind when you call one of them a great player and the other the best left back in the world.
They are great athletes who play in a very unathletic league like serie A which makes them seem better than they actually are. In UCL both of them are getting exposed.
The best player on the field today was a 17 years old Zaire-Emery. Absolute beast.
Based on the table Milan still has a chance to qualify but by the way they play it would be a miracle if they do.

  9. It was very painful to watch, it was like we was showing psg too much respect and we couldn’t string hardly any good pattern of play. To me it don’t matter who pioli would of selected with the squad available we would of lost psg were by far the better team today it’s like the guys in commentary were saying Ac Milan was very disjointed. Their are 3 games left and it is still possible to qualify whether we do it is another matter

  10. It’s the owners who are letting the club down by lowering standards and being more concerned about there investors.

If money ball works why isn’t it not the case other European clubs such as man city real Madrid psg bayern Munich Chelsea man utd Liverpool Barcelona all of whom are light years ahead of ac milan use it?

The facts are this you need to SPEND MONY in order to stay or become relevant just like the greatest club owner did for over thirty years our former owner Silvio Berlusconi not just on players but coaching staff scouts ect.

The whole situation from where I’m sat that is a CON and before anyone comments about an over reaction milan haven’t won the European cup since 2007 is that good?

Sadly due to the league going the same way as milan nothing will change and the owners will just keep making money by milan easily getting European football then using ffp as an excuse not to spend ask PSG MAN CITY CHELSEA MADRID BARCELONA wether or not they do .

    1. A club has whatever money it has.

      Money doesn’t grow on trees.

The issue is how you spend whatever money you do have.

It is beyond belief we replaced almost half the squad this summer (having just made the actual semi-finals of the actual champions league) and we have nothing really to show for it.

Tomori took a free kick from 20 yards out. We didn’t sign a single dead-ball specialist and have no dead-ball specialists. Dead-balls can be the difference between winning and losing at this level and we have no one.

We do have three almost identical new midfielders though.

Because of all the turnover the squad lacks any identity. Every team we come up against, even this PSG team, has players who have established themselves over YEARS. We have nobody. Calabria is our longest serving player (and therefore many fans want him gone).

I had a really bad feeling after this summer and things could really unravel fast if we don’t get results in the next few games. If Pioli is fired then there is a very real risk we will hire Conte and then I think I’m done. It’ll be really difficult supporting a team with Conte as manager and he’ll burn down the last remaining remnants of the 2019 Scudetto winning squad.

And this is all down to the owners. Regardless of how much money they have.

        1. Because your endless attacks on Pioli and Krunic are so original.

Go support another team and then you won’t need to follow Pioli and Krunic.

          1. Another “you’re not a fan” comment of course. Dude, Krunic and Pioli suck and don’t deserve to be anywhere around Milan. Wake up

  11. I’m not sure if you can say Krunic let them down. When did he come back from injury? Right.
The commentators said Pioli reacted late.
I might “be wearing my Simon Kjær glasses” but he would have used all of his experience to help his team. And this was needed tonight.

  12. Between weakened rivals in serie a, or lucky drawings in ucl, pioli has been exposed multiple times that the scudetto and ucl semi were just luck.
    He’s a fluke.
I have a strong feeling and i strongly hope that this season will be his last.

Even with formation change, players change, milan basically still play the same way.
Hoping for the trio leao, theo, and giroud making a miracle every single game.

He came to paris thinking no one expects milan to win, so might as well just lose the game.

  13. Ok ratings i guess. However, musah he ran yes, but not with much effect. He can do a lot more if he is utilized better. He has got all the ingredients to become a good box to box midfielder, but needs to get utilized better by that banana that we call our coach. Krunic, im sorry to all his fanboys, but he was useless ( as always). Playing with 10 man essentially. Pulisic made a lot of mistakes but at least he was active, on a night like this thats a positive i guess. The rating was harsh on leao in my opinion. Yes he made some bad calls, but given the attitude, our game play, or complete disarray goimg forward he and pulisic at some degree was our only threat. Thats easy for any defense to cope with. Harsh on defenders too as playing high line against speedy psg forwards and wingers will cost a goal or two. Pioli gets 0 again. 0 creativity upfront, krunic adli was as bad as the sub against juve. Also, didnt prep well on markings and tactics. Kalulu fell in the trap of marking emery ( may be wrong) up to the midfield line, leaving mbappe on by himself against tomorri. That good old tactic to cover for each other went out of the window. Also onne obvious issue is, how can one excpect a good build up when we have 2 out of 3 midfielders that cannot pass or open up play ( krunic and musah)??!!! That’s just horrible tactics by this banana. Yeas evrryone blame giroud for lack of goal scoring, but the problem starts at the midfield. Yes giroud is old and we need an upgrade in that department, but come we need a proper regista. Enough of this pioli nonsense. Hate or love maldini, but he was 100% correct to get rid of pioli. Hope we overcome this difficult moment as we lost most of our games against big teams.

  14. There is a clear difference between being clueless and having a bad game, and i am going to pin this directionless play squarely on the coach. Milan just didnt show up and PSG was not even breaking a sweat. You could immediately see the difference when Adli came on, Pulisic really tried in the 2nd half, but our defense are seriously out of shape. Pioli has some major work to do to stymie this downward spiral we find ourselves in or be shipped out. My word this performance was atrocious

  15. Perhaps this may be a bit premature as technically the season is still young – although UCL is not being half way done in the group stage – BUT – I think it’s time to start questioning the transfer policy of this past summer. It seems we have the EXACT same problems as last season – no reliable striker or back up Lb; still over relying on Leao to generate offense; problems defending esp down the middle. On top of that our transfers have been a somewhat underwhelming especially against bigger teams/clubs.

Management decided to rely on Krunic as our starting def mid; signed an injury prone RLC who got injured again; Okafor is a RW masquerading as a backup striker; Jovic is horrid; our most expensive signing (28M) Chukwueze has 0 goals & injured; still no LB replacement for Theo; spent majority of our $$ on mids who all play the exact same position; 37yr old Giroud starting every game with no reliable backup….

Now: 0 big games won, 0 wins in UCL. Napoli is next.

Yes Pioli is to blame for his lack of in game tactics and questionable lineup choices. However, it may be time to acknowledge that this transfer window most claimed was successful – ISN’T that much. At least not against real QUALITY teams. Now of course their is time to turn things around but it’s not looking too good. Beating the likes of Genoa and Monza are fine – but it’s an entirely different thing to play real teams like PSG, Dortmund, Inter, etc….and we can see we are STILL struggling against them.

When will it be time to point the finger at Furlani???

Like I said – We are 0-5 against good teams – UCL teams and Juve + Inter. Napoli is next. If we don’t beat Napoli then I think the time to make a change at coach may be warranted. You know like Maldini thought of IF he didn’t get the results but everyone freaked out about? Bottom line is this is a results league and both the coach and management need to held accountable. Again it’s not the end of the world yet – but it may be time to start asking questions.

It only gets harder from here

    1. I actually believe we had a positive summer. Not perfect but one of the better ones in the last few years. The problem for me is that after 4 seasons of a 4 2 3 1 we abandon it for a 4 3 3. When everybody is healthy in the double pivot we would have musah reijnders and loftus to choose from. For the attack leao pulisic chukwueze. Us missing that central player has made us resort to constantly playing to the wings where it ends up going backwards or going in for a cross where there’s only giroud in the box. Our crossing is horrible btw. Where if pulisic was in the old of brahim Diaz we would have much more options in attack. It’s no coincidence that our attack has suddenly become anonymous because every single team has figured us out. All we do is wing play and nothing comes from it. If we stuck with the 4 2 3 1 at least we’d have options of playing both wings and attack in the middle.

    2. If the transfer policy is to blame (which I think it is) then that is on the owners and the directors.

They don’t actually have to pander to the media, agents, fans and even the manager.

They can show some restraint, some long term thinking.

They dismantled a squad where the majority of players (including the players they sold) had actually won the Scudetto, and replaced them with players who MIGHT help MAYBE win a Scudetto.

It was a completely random throw of the dice.

If you compare this to Juve when they were winning back to back Scudetti, each summer they would STRENGTHEN the EXISTING squad with KEY SIGNINGS (often aimed at weakening their direct rivals e.g. Pjanic and Higuain).

Now besides the fact that Milan have spent the best part of the last 10 years STRENGTHENING our rivals (nearly every one of our immediate rivals has one or more former players including last weekend’s goalscorer) after we won the Scudetto we didn’t IMPROVE the side, we…..signed lots and lots and lots of players.

And then last season when we made the semi-finals of the Champions League we didn’t IMPROVE the side, we……sold one of our key players and future captain and signed lots and lots and lots of players.

And the media and therefore many fans got really excited about all of the ‘activity’.

Because ‘activity’ is now considered more important than actual ‘quality’. And when i say quality I mean proven winners – not these guys seem pretty interesting based on what they did at mid-level teams.

Other than Pulisic none of our new signings are proven winners. And all of them have disrupted a side that actually did win something.

And this is where the owner and directors need to take responsibility.

I said at the start that my objectives for the club were different for different people:

      – for the owners and directors to justify the huge turnover (both on and off the pitch) we have to finish 1st or 2nd in the league and reach the latter stages of the Champions League;

      – for Pioli who went along with this madness he has to match last season in the league and I’ll give him a pass in the Champions League;

      – for the players who are the victims in all this, provided they keep their heads down and don’t take the p#$@, I will support them because we simply cannot tell their abilities based on the above.

What I really don’t want to see is the reverse:

      – more turnover of players who are blamed for the results;
      – Pioli sacked to be replaced with Conte….

and the owners and directors (and the media and fans) walking away whistling.

      1. Is that the same future captain that was sold that is about to be suspended for a year because of betting?
Only delusional people think that Tonali had captain qualities.
People think that just because someone grew up a Milan fan qualifies him to be the captain.
Look at Gattuso. He was Tonali before Tonali, but he was never the captain.
Leaders are born. It’s based on one’s character and personality, not on being a childhood fan or playing with passion. You need someone who is well balanced, never too high never too low, someone others respect and are willing to follow. Tonali wasn’t that.
Same goes for Leao and Theo. Who in their right state of mind would follow Leao, and Theo is an unstable person.
Your obsession with one fluke scudetto blinds you from seeing the truth.
Milan problem is the coach. Same coach that has won just that one scudetto.. Pioli has not won any other trophy in his career, NONE, ZERO. But you are in here defending him like he is Capello or Ancelotti.

        1. Erm Tony Adam captain Arsenal to 4 league titles…2 of which when he was struggling with alcoholism….

And the thing about Tonali’s betting scandal is that……NOBODY KNEW ABOUT IT WHEN HE WAS SOLD SO IT CAN’T BE THE REASON FOR HIS SALE (OR ELSE MILAN WILL BE SUED FOR A VERY LARGE SUM OF MONEY).

          1. Tonali was sold because Tonali wanted to leave and get that big paycheck from an epl team.
If Tonali didn’t want to leave Milan wouldn’t have been able to sell him.
Look at the Barella and Inter situation. Barella was Newcastle first choice, not Tonali. Inter was willing to sell Barella and already had his natural replacement lined up in Frattesi. Barella to Newcastle didn’t happen because Barella refused to leave. Tonali on the other hand jumped at the opportunity to get the big bag, and good for him.
Milan midfield has better quality players this season. The tactics and the coach is what holds Milan back.
Tony Adams might have been a drunk but he was a leader.

      1. And yet, until four days ago we were in first place in Serie A and not in trouble in the CL? LOL. There is nothing wrong with the players. Notice how we’ve done well against the teams we’re supposed to beat, but we’ve failed against two title contenders and can’t score in the CL? That’s a coaching/tactical fail. WE DID NOT QUALIFY FOR THE CL, WE WERE ASSIGNED JUVENTUS’ PLACE. How many small teams in low block did we fail to beat last season? Look at how we struggled at struggling Genoa. FFS. Honestly the shock of the season so far is our 4-1 against Torino. Pioli deserves the Medal of Honor for that. /s.

Where is the “world class” Leao that Juro defended like he was the second coming of Kaka two seasons ago when his renewal was in doubt? PAY HIM ANYTHING HE WANTS. Ok, we did. Where are the goals and assists? Is it Leao? Is it the coaching of Leao? Who knows, but two things are certain:

        1. We didn’t “churn” Leao, as Maldini’s Heir would say, we paid him what he wanted, as Juro asked, and yet he’s still an enigma; 2. Pioli remains and we’re still trying to figure out how to beat good teams. Regardless of where people stand on our transfers, both last season and this, the results are basically the same. We struggle against low block and quality opposition.

It’s logic. If the coach is the same, and the players are different, and the results are the same, then it has to be the coach.

Thank the gods that Napoli is without Osimhen because now we have a chance, also thanks to their own mediocre coach.

        1. Vero was that comment for me? I was only agreeing with Juro on the idea that when we play smaller teams we’re fine but against bigger teams we struggle. It’s true. And I’ve made a similar comment before people got wind of it as I noticed after 8 or so games we played teams that were at the bottom half of the table (Lazio and Roma were on bottom half form btw) but top half (Inter) we looked bad. That’s not necessarily a bad thing in the league per se but in the UCL every team is good. Napoli is going to be interesting as they are like us…play high line and don’t sit back.
I think we’re probably in agreement here.

  16. Hernandez looks way off the pace this season. I can’t recall him driving forward with the ball. Leao looks like a liability, once he gets the ball we don’t know how long it’s gonna be a Milan ball. When he is on fire he’s unplayable so it’s so frustrating watching him not drive at the defence. At the very least he should be a serial penalty merchant with his ability. He hasn’t developed since the scudetto season in terms of consistency. He was the same player he is now except now his ego is getting inflated. Ref was trash today but we’re so bad it goes beyond that. Reijnders going more and more missing game by game (had really high hopes for him). I still think we are more than capable of getting out of the group but we need to have a real leader in there and stop the rot getting in.

    1. It’s the change of formation man. 4 2 3 1 brought out the best in theo and leao. Ever since we switched they look like a shadow of the players they were. Go figures when we have actual quality in the wings and an attacking midfielder we play a 4 3 3

  17. Inconsistently inconsistent.
Something is lacking and it isn’t new signings or a new coach.
October is slowly ending and they’re playing worse than they did at the beginning of the season. Why?

  18. So with your logic a coach who wins a Scudetto gets to stay forever? The Scudetto was 2 seasons ago when Inter, Juve and Napoli were all weaker. He finished 5th last season. He should have been fired last winter when we were getting embarrassed by Sassuolo and relegation teams for weeks.

  19. The team have failed every big test so far.
Problem 1: I maintain that the midfield is a big downgrade in quality from Diaz, Tonali, Bennacer. They can’t create chances or protect the defense.
Problem 2: More variety is needed in attack; better movement, crossing, shooting, decision making.
Problem 3: Individual mistakes in defense but considering they get no protection whatsoever, they are the least of our problems.
I said it at the end of last season. The owners will get no patience from fans or the media after firing the people that brought this club back. People who actually know football.

  20. Ok ucl is not our thing tonight and maybe we can be feeder club, but now we must concetrate on local league get scudetto at least we are still not far away in serie A.

  21. We need to be realists here. Ever since the loss to inter, milan haven’t looked convincing. On top of that, the 4 3 3 looked pretty for the first three games and ever since has been bad. A ln attack of leao giroud and pulisic on paper sounds pretty good and yet we aren’t scoring any goals. The attack is the worst thing about us. No matter the opponent, no matter if it’s a win a tie or a loss we don’t change. We continue to do the same things and expect different results. ALL of our attacks is the same wing play. We cross to nobody. We NEVER go through the middle and try to thread a pass. I saw it in the first few games and it’s suddenly disappeared.

This is where I start to question pioli if he’s the right man to lead this team anymore. For 4 seasons you have played a 4 2 3 1 and now that we have finally brought in players that can actually thrive in that formation we switch to a 4 3 3. Now I’m fine from switching to those positions from time to time but were missing many midfielders and we still don’t change. I feel like reijnders and musah would have been much better in a double pivot tonight and guess what. Our attack would improve. This is where Im starting to question pioli and how clueless he can be.

In regards to tonight. If anyone doesn’t see what I’m saying about leao and why he’s been criticized so much. He was the worst player on the pitch today BY FAR. look at the the difference between him and mbappe. Whenever mbappe has the ball at his feet, he’s dangerous. The whole 90 minutes when that ball is on his foot you fear him, whether he makes a pass, moves into positions, dribbles, shoots there’s 0 mistakes. Leao for 80 minutes of a game is bad and for 10minutes is fantastic. But in those 10 minutes each game where he gets a goal or an assist we praise him. A world class player needs to be dangerous for the whole game. Today, he showed he doesn’t know when the right time is to pass, when to shoot or when to cross. Sacchi is completely right about him this year. He’s LAZY. I don’t know if it’s because he got his new contract or its the change of formation but leao hasny looked good for 5 games now and a shadow of what he was past couple of seasons. I will say I think he’d be playing much better if we stuck with the 4 2 3 1.

Krunic showed today his limits. He did nothing right and when adli came on at least you can see some forward passing. Krunic and leao were definitely the two worst players today. Nobody played well, but musah and reijnders were our best two players. I won’t harp on the defence tonight because any team playing against psg and that attack is going to be under pressure. The attack and pioli have let us down big time in this game and this season so far to be fair.

If things don’t improve soon and there’s a chance to get a top coach I wouldn’t be against it. I feel like pioli this year has shown limitations and hasn’t changed a thing tactically.

    1. Blaming Leao is what is LAZY. He is the ONLY one who creates anything whatsoever. We expect him to make miracles every time he touched the ball. What did Giroud or Pulisic do?? Nothing. Even Theo doesn’t create anymore not since the WC – he has regressed. It’s a collective problem. Part of it is a not so good transfer campaign as we are STILL talking about the SAME problems we had last year that we’re supposed to be addressed by the market – and so far it has not turned out that way. Also – I do agree with you that it’s time to change the coach. I have said it a million times – Pioli cannot adjust IN GAME tactics. He gets destroyed against better coached teams. It’s very obvious. Thank you to Pioli for taking us this far – but he’s not the guy to take us to the next level.

      1. Unless the club changes ownership won’t matter about a new coach as the owners will just get another yes man with no demands.

      2. But that’s what I’m saying. Leao has been crap ever since this formation change. So whether it’s that or something else he hasn’t been the same. And for him to become world class games like this can’t happen because he was by far the worst player on the pitch

      3. I disagree about Puli. I think he was quite threatening. Leao tried to do too much, but I don’t blame him because Giroud was ZERO help.

Should have played 5-3-2 and countered with Leao and Puli. Could have gotten a draw out of this.

    2. @Milanellofm bro I was with you for the first part about expectations and limitations. Until you said Leao was the worst and when you got to saying Musah and Reinjders were the best is where you lost me. Reinjders is culpable on the first goal. While he’s box to box, one of those boxes is the defensive box which he failed to do with his man who beat him for pace leaving Tomori 1v1 with the world’s best player right now. That’s Reinjders…costed us 1st goal along with Kalulu. Second goal Musah was pulling up his socks while PSG was taking a quick corner, and he loses his man behind him. He’s culpable there. These guys can’t be the best if they cost us two goals buddy
But I do agree with the first part

      1. 100% reijnders lost his man on the goal. But him and musah were the only ones throughout the 90 minutes who tried to do something. Musah put in countless tackles winning back posession especially in the first half and reijnders had many dribbled trying to start something and his biggest mistake was trying to give it to leao each time.. Tell me, what did leao do good? Because I saw countless passes go right to the psg team, I never saw one successful dribble and when he did take his last man on he always beats him to the outside to give himself a bad angle to shoot on his weak foot. Other than that he had a couple shots on net where he tried to curl it in the far corner and had they not missed the net by 20 yards I probably could have stopped them

        1. Imo Leao tried as much as he could. I don’t have an answer as to why our mezzalas (Musah and Reinjders) were absent in the attacking build up. It was basically hoof the ball to Leao and see what he does. The strength of the attack in a 433 depends heavily on the mezzalas. They didn’t support the wingers enough. But it’s not like Leao didn’t do anything. It’s just when we don’t score we blame him (rightly and wrongly at the same time). Take away the two goals from the mistakes from Reinjders and Musah and we now have a thin scoreline of 1-0 or chances here and there to score if we set up right (but that’s on Pioli). When we lose like this imo there’s more than just one to pick out in terms of reasons for the loss

  22. Agree totally regarding Leo under Berlusconi would have been sold by now .
As far as a new coach is concerned NOT GOING TO HAPPEN he is a yes man and thats exactly what the owners want a top class coach would want MONEY TO SPEND also he would identify what a p poor team we have showing what a p poor job the owners have done.

    1. I am a Maldini fan boy and I had my doubts, but this is insanity.
We were in a 10 year slump that resembled a nightmare. We recently won a scudetto, made it to the CL semis, with a half decent team that capitalized on Inter’s debacle, and are the only club in the poor italian league that has a surpuls!

Look Krunic does make my stomach churn but you need an ounce of pragmatism. PSG’s club transfer Value in transfermarket is basically twice ours. We are not the old Milan, but the team is on a good track. This group stage was too much for us to handle, and if I was a betting man, not way I would have backed us to make it easily through the group stage or not getting schooled by PSG in Paris.

  23. Bookies said PSG were favorites by a >3-1 margin. The result is a manifestation of what most non milan fans thought would happen. They have far better players, this is usually what happens.

Now Krunic – there I have no excuses for Pioli. And I have said it a few times, Kalulu will need to beat Thiaw out at CB for us to continue playing the way we do or we will lost most games against big teams, sometimes badly like this one.

    1. Only a few of our players would start for PSG – Theo, Maignan and Leao. On the other hand, all of PSG’s players, except Gigio would be an upgrade to what we fielded.

  24. There is a great documentary on youtube regarding the before and during the Berlusconi era by balon that is how acmilan should still be just like madrid are it’s all about standards.

    1. We’re not at those levels anymore bro. We are far far faaaaar away from those levels. Dont met last year UCL semi fool you. The faster fans realize this the better

      1. Bro, that has fooled A LOT of people here. A lot. We had a lucky draw, got by Napoli because Spalleti was doing his best impression of “high press Pioli” (and Napoli missed a million good chances), and when we met Inter they fvcked us, because Inter is a particularly bad team for us to face since the page dedicated to Inter in Pioli’s tactics book has nothing but “😵” on it.

        1. LMAO @ tactics book part 🤣🤣🤣🤣

We got a lucky draw. Of course ppl can take credit for getting there that’s fine. BUT we have to be honest that we had a favourable draw (btw helped by the Scudetto the year before). It’s also not coincidence that being in the lower pots put us in rough groups in the UCL.

  25. Leao is selfishly trying to do too much and firing from too far away rather than looking for his mates. Pulisic’s rating should be slightly higher. He could have played his scoring chance better, but he didn’t have as long as the ratings commenter suggested, and he provided the only movement of the day, both on his other goal attempt and his beautiful through pass to Leao.

    1. What mates? Who is Leao supposed to give and go with? THeo? He can’t do that because we got caught on the counter. Giroud? Have you seen his first touches? nothing is clicking, that’s why Leao’s getting frustrated and trying to do everything by himself. And he’s getting double teamed and pushed out. We don’t have a Thuram or a Lautaro.

      1. don’t you think he would benefit much more if he had pulisic closer to him in the center and giroud playing as the poacher. Switching to 4 3 3 has put them in the same line and giroud can’t do a thing outside of the penalty box

  26. I am old enough to live those days and saw Ancelotti’s Meravigliosi in the San Siro many a time so don’t need a virtual trip in YouTube, thanks!

We aren’t like Madrid anymore. And thinking like we still were is one of the reasons we almost died as a club. But we are finally something again, it will take time (lots) but we are on the right track, this is just 1 result.

    1. It’s not just a one off result, James. It’s a long track of poor in-game management and limited tactical acumen from Pioli. He has just ONE plan. That’s it. He doesn’t know how to adjust or change.

It’s gonna cost us Europe. Hopefully it won’t cost us Top4 domestically.

      1. If you think a different coach is bringing this exact team to a UCL Final you need to go back to playing fifa. That’s the only way that’s happening

  27. No more zlatan effect that’s why the young lads all misbehaving… pioli need to b blame too .. tired if leao looking unordered every game

  28. Fire Pioli along with the whole fitness and medical staff.
Complete cleansing from the previous regime should be done once and for all.
Players are dropping like flies even during warm ups.
The coach can’t comprehend that you can’t play the same way vs. every team. His man-defense is getting exploited by better and more intelligent teams and coaches. Pioli has no solutions.
    He has reached his limitations.
If Milan wants to go to higher levels, it won’t happen with Pioli at the helm.

  29. 2007 last time milan won ucl how much longer do you need?

My point is not about memory lane it’s about remembering what ac milan are .

  30. I’ve always been a Pioli fan, but it’s not working anymore. We cannot pass the ball, we cannot cross, we shoot from distance because we can’t work out what to do when we’re near the goal, and we’re clearly lacking confidence. Unfortunately all of that has to do with the coach. You can see it with Pulisic and Reijnders – the longer they’ve been with us, the worse they’re getting. Again, I like Pioli – we’ve controlled games well with him – but right now it we’re playing like we don’t have a coach at all.

The only problem is there’s no one to replace him. We need a coach who instills confidence on the ball so we can actually look like a professional team who knows how to play. De Zerbi is the dream but he won’t leave Brighton. Thiago Motta would be good for confidence and possession but he would be under pressure because he’s not as experienced. Conte would instill confidence but wouldn’t play possession.

We’re in for some pain this season I think. Wouldn’t be surprised to finish bottom of the UCL table with no goals.

  31. Pioli must get -10 for his ‘clever’ idea and strategy. Do milan really have strategy tonight? Seems like bunch of schoolboy trying to play football.
Keeping Krunic for almost 80minutes against one of european top team show us how ‘smart’ he is.
    Lost words for him.

  32. I actually think we meed to switch formation. The team with half new players is understandably not yet glued together. We can’t not consider this of course. And october… unfortunately Pioli will never admit it in time. Lets face it, man always failed with 4-3-3. Everywhere he tried it. He does not understand it. It is not in his bloodline.
We better go 3 CB or double pivot as we have good players for this. But 4-3-3 requires so much midfield talent and understanding we simply do not have.

  33. “Krunic (4): Yikes. He got booked very early after a lazy giveaway and then was incredibly sloppy with his passing, which you cannot be as the No.6. In the second half, he was a ghost and that became even more clear when Adli replaced him”
This review sums it up, pioli is a bald coward dropped adli for DM who offers neither D nor M
Atleast with adli the team could have scored first
Better playing an extra winger or striker instead of a ghost midfielder

  34. We’re just not deep enough for two competitions. not enough quality and above all, tactical limitations from our coach, who will live and die by his sword.

Pulisic was easily our biggest threat moving forward as Leao wasn’t really in the game, and Giroud is 37 and playing every three days. Theo couldn’t blaze forward due to threat of counter.

And it’s exactly from counters that we conceded. Instead of a 3-5-2 or a 5-3-2 playing for a draw, Pioli pulled another Derby 2.0 approach expecting a different result… I mean honest to God…

The best thing that can happen to us is that we crash out of the group to focus on the Scudetto race. We sure as sh!t won’t go far in CL with Pioli. BUt with the proceeds from this year’s CL missing outside of group stages, maybe our management will think long and hard whether we are ready for a managerial upgrade, even if Pioli is a yes man.

I do think we will secure Top4 with Pioli this season but we won’t advance far in Europe and at some point this will need to be addressed… I mean, let’s be honest here: who actually thought we would beat PSG under pioli when the lineups were announced? LOL…

    1. My thoughts exactly…. derby 2.0..same mistakes. I said before the season started that I hope we can crash out totally than play Europa which would affect our league play. Of course that didn’t go well with ppl but it was obvtwhat kind of group we’d get.
We’re top 4 and that’s the owners ideal trophy for us

  35. Lol these ratings are trash. Musah the best???
Dude was pulling up his socks on the corner which PSG scored their second goal. And they scored exactly on his side. I saw him literally watched Marquinhos go behind him and didn’t do anything…and this right after Calabria told everyone to pay attention…and then gives an interview saying we need to pay more attention 😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣da fuq is that?!?! LMAO

Thiaw got an early yellow for a terrible foul and got hooked in the first half yet he is rated higher than Krunic and Leao. Come on bro?

Side note: The ref had it out for us. 30 seconds after Krunic yellow, Zaire Emery fouled Giroud worse than that yellow and only got a foul, no card. Tomori foul for the yellow was a terrible call but his foul later on could have warranted the yellow instead. They kept booking our defenders for fouls not worth of yellows. Same with Kalulu. But I digress.

The Krunic hate has to stop. Sure he SHOULD NOT have started but he wasn’t responsible for any of the goals yet gets the worst rating. That’s pure biasedness. 1st goal – Kalulu and Reinjders. second goal – Musah. Third goal was just well worked. But if I had to pin it on someone I’d say Adli was at fault the most. He got pulled out of position by Emery who then beat him for pace to pass the ball which created the goal. That’s two of the shiny new signings being heavily responsible. Keep that same energy everyone has for Krunic to the news guys too and other players. I was watch the game thinking there’s no way they can pin this on Krunic and somehow through some mental gymnastics they still do. (And again, as a reminder to the ppl who can’t read go back above to the part where I said he shouldn’t hv started). I think this is on Pioli. Adli would have forced PSG to be on the backfoot more. And we need to start being critical of the new signings too. Reinjders is fine for small teams. Matter of fact all the Ayers we bought are fine for smaller teams and that’s all fine if we can admit it early. But when the level goes up their level shows. Reinjders was a ghost today too, it’s fine to say it..Musah culpable. And injury prone players are as you guessed it injured.

    But don’t worry guys….. we’re more European hahahaha 😂😂😂

    1. Btw my prediction for the game was pretty close…4-1 lol. At least I thought we’d score to bring out our European-ness

    2. Forgot to add too…..we played a team which was accustomed to having high possession. For whatever reason we still tried to play a high line instead of counter attacking. Give them the ball, Soak up the pressure and counter, smh.

    3. Agree with a lot of that rant!

On the transfers – this summer was rated by some as the GREATEST TRANSFER MARKET EVER better even than the January 2020 when we signed Kjær and Ibrahimovic, and turned a mid-table team into champions….

And that in a nutshell is the problem with this summer’s GREATEST TRANSFER MARKET EVER – instead of signing [however number I’ve lost count] – we should’ve signed ‘a’ Kjær and ‘an’ Ibrahimovic. Not that these sorts of players are that common, and that is also the point.

A transfer market has three key limitations:

      a) time;
      b) money;
      c) the rules of football that say you can only have 11 players on the pitch…..

We wasted a) and b) not addressing the key weaknesses in c).

Had we spent all of our time and money on ONE or TWO key signings – proven, undisputable WINNERs – that would have lifted a side that had just made the semi-finals of the Champions League.

And do you know how you achieve the much vaunted ‘depth’?

By pushing established players onto the bench. The likes of Krunic and Saelemaekers could have been pushed to the bench and provided ‘depth’.

January 2020 is THE go to transfer market that this club needs to look at. If we are to start rolling the dice again in January we need to sign established WINNERS.

      1. I think the summer mercato was upset by accepting Newcastle offer for Tonali which then sent us on a mission for midfielders, when the clear priority was to replace Giroud (ultimately) who’s form will tail off due to age (often this happens quite suddenly).

We lost Thuram to Inter and Weah to Juve and we seemed lose our focus and ended up with a player (jovic) who nobody seemed to want, most likely for good reasons. We exited the windows with largely the same problem that we entered with and the difficulty is financial : it is very tough to buy a top class goalscorer for €20m

      2. Hahaha I def recall the greatest transfer window in a decade mantra by commenters here lol 😂
Too many people are short sighted. I’ve seen these things go bad so often it’s why I didn’t hold my breath or as they say around these comments section…a hater 😂😂🤣
But we’re here now with a new midfield and wing and it seems a new striker in January….and possibly a 6 which they didn’t get even though the formation relies on it

        1. I remember too. Some. Folks here were hounding it like it was going to solve all of Milan’s problems.
A certain one who shall not be named *cough cough* Boulden said it was perfect for the 433 play.
And labeled anyone who thought differently or voiced their opinions of the validity of quality, a hater and a doom and gloom moaner and should go support another club. And now we are back to the same issue. Facing the same problems as the season prior. 😞😩

          1. Yep, exactly this. They’re very quiet these days. I guess they’re glooming 😂😂😂
I disliked that ppl were calling other ppl hater simply because they said “hey those injury prone players we’re buying… might become injured” smh 🤦‍♂️ ooof. Some called it the greatest transfer window in a decade …lol ok. And heaven forbid you bring up some sort of informed opinion that goes against the flow

  36. Some of these fans…

Every win is only due to players and every loss they want the coach terminated. Ignorance is bliss I suppose.

It’s doesn’t matter who is manager. Any time Man lose they want a new manager. If it were up to them, they’d have 10 managers per season

    1. Not just any manager – the manager who after 10 years in the wilderness delivered a Scudetto, back to back Champions League qualifications, and a semi-final in the Champions League…

But apparently none of that was down to the manager. It was a ‘fluke’ or ‘Ibra’ or anything other than giving credit to a man who brought these fans – JOY.

      1. Exactly. I feel like these people play fifa on Beginner mode and have Milan get to the UCL Finals so that’s what they think needs to happen in real life

    2. Not to be ageist but I am fairly certain that these “fans” have not really seen a lot of football and are kidding themselves that they KNOW ANYTHING USEFUL WHATSOEVER.

Pioli is human and imperfect like you, but don’t think for one second that YOU know better than he does about anything going on at Casa Milan or Milanello.

  37. Inter play in the same league, they don’t look slow and unathletic. Pioli’s idiotic selections and transfer strategy are the problem. We have the makings of a good team, once Pioli is history.

    1. Remember cardinale only want cheaper and cheaper and cheaper coach, the cheaper the better he accept, and money ball as well being feeder club to get more fund he prefered like last season.

    2. Bro I saw Inter games vs Salzburg and Soceidad. Bro theyre not in an easy group – probably the next worse than ours, yet they fight for each ball, harass and hound everytime and they seem to have a plan. Soceidad out real intense pressure on them yet they grinded out a result from something they had not business doing (totally opposite to us). Inzaghi is a great cup coach. The three best teams so far in UCL I’ve seen are City, Inter and Bayern. Two of those three seem to be making final this year.
Then I saw us play this coward football. No feeling whatsoever that we think we could win. Body language says it all out there smh 🤦‍♂️

  38. Massive fight between Calabria and Pioli after the game, as he felt his tactics were crap. Our captain has a voice, and he’s absolutely right, he will sacrifice everything to shove Krunic in even when it made sense. Let’s hope there’s a glimmer of hope that this might be the end of the Pioli saga, I have never bashed him but enough is enough, even a damn monkey could’ve set the team up better tactically.

  39. Pioli is not at the level of leading Milan to achieve its big dream, and Pioli must take full responsibility for this embarrassing defeat with a difference of 3 goals without scoring a single goal. tactical error,

  40. You guys are ridiculous. The team was awful all around yet the blame is somehow only piled on krunic and pioli. Wow the comments section is bad.

    1. Waaaay too late for De Zerbi. He should have been signed when he was free prior to joining Brighton, but that would have been the summer right after the scudetto and there was no way they were replacing Pioli then. De Zerbi is in line for a top 6 prem job, maybe Madrid, and maybe Juventus (I say Juventus because they have shown a willingness to pay big bucks for managers while other Serie A teams shy away that). I think the De Zerbi ship has sailed for AC Milan.

  41. Can’t believe that some ppl still defend Pioli. You can start against PSG with 10 men and if we add Giroud to the picture its actually 9 1/2. With all my respect to Giroud who was really excellent striker, but at 37 with 2 games per week is nonsense. Now about Pioli favourite-Rade. His level is for substitute vs Verona. No defensive skill at all, his passing accuracy is less then Maignan. And can somone give me an example of 1 game that Krunic showed that he worth to be in PioliOUT starting XI vs PSG.

  42. It’s mainly Pioli fault.we can’t start with 10 players vs PSG. Rade defensive skills are low and his passing skills are 2 levels below Maignan he is totally useless. And I’m asking PioliOUT defenders tell me 1 game that Krunic did great to deserve starting XI vs PSG. And this is clearly Pioli fault.

  43. If you are a midfielder and cannot pass or spread the ball comfortable or link up with teammates on the pitch in 2023, you have no business being on the pitch playing as a midfielder, whether as a DM or CM. I am tired of seeing Krunic play ahead of Adli, Milan midfield looked better with Adli. Krunic must be permanently dropped for Adli, he helps our midfield In holding possession and in playing progressive passes.

    1. Yes, I also saw 3 midfielders llike that. What did Reijnders do? Dude was useless, same as against any top player or team. That PSG kid is a space shuttle for him.

  44. Truth is pioli doesn’t know how to prepare for a game. He prepares for the whole season. Most successful coaches look at they opponents and try to analyse their plan, but not pioli. He should just go. Problem is this American won’t sack him

  45. The so-called superstar of Milan isn’t even an average player in the UCL – way below that. Wasn’t it supposed to be the superstars Mbappe against Leao yesterday? Like the commentators noted, the got similar balls to their feet but Mbappe showed why he’s world-class and Leao why he isn’t.

What is more concerning than relying on an average player is that Milan lacks team play. The attacks rely on the wingers doing their thing and the midfielders take zero part in the attacks. But then again, what do you expect from the trio Musah-Reijnders-Krunic in the last attacking quarter? Just look at what the PSG midfielders did in the goals. And look at Celtic’s first goal against Atletico. Maaan, when have we seen such defense-opening passes from Milan midfielders? Probably when Pirlo was still playing and who was that Celtic player – just someone no one’s ever even heard of.

The very first 5 minutes showed the enormous difference in quality last night. After 5 minutes I though we’d be lucky to lose only by 2 or 3 goals. We had zero hope of winning the match.

The only player who is world-class in this team is Maignan. CLEARLY, that’s not enough.

EDIT: Nice. This cr*ppy comment section isn’t showing my reply. But still… Even this site still works better than Milan’s attacking plays. How on Earth Pulisic wasted THAT chance when the match was still open? And Milan showed their lack of quality also in the 5 against 2 attack where we didn’t even get a shot on target. Or shot at all! PSG would have scored from that kind of chance with 100% efficiency.

    1. Criticizing Leao? BLASPHAMY. Watch out. Juro will come for your “lazy” a$$.

To your comment, I 100% agree. I do think that Reijnders is capable of making defense splitting passes. The thing is, the team is not set up to put him in a position to make them. This falls on Pioli. Ball movement, player positioning, all on the coach. Maybe people are right, maybe we should go back to 4-2-3-1, with Reijnders (or RLC) pushed up in the hole, and Musah and Adli in the double pivot, and when Benny comes back it will be him and Musah.

      1. “Criticizing Leao? BLASPHAMY. Watch out. Juro will come for your “lazy” a$$.”

LOL. I know. He’s been defending his man-crush for years now. Although I don’t see how a LW who scores 3 times in 25 Euro-matches would/could qualify as a superstar or world-class but I’m sure that kid will find a way to praise Leao again. And mock me while doing that. 😀

Reijnders has shown potential but he’s nowhere to be seen when the ball is at our wingers’ feet. It’s like the Milan attackers forget there are others playing for the same team too.

    1. No, the worst are Reijnders fanboys, you can read a rating of his play by one. Incredible how bad he can play and still get 5.5 for “having good intentions” which means nothing.

  46. “Reijnders (5.5): He had good intentions going forward, beating his man here and there to open up space, but he wasn’t good enough defensively tonight. Of course, that shouldn’t really be his duty, but more could be asked especially on the first goal.”

Isak, you’re a fanboy of this guy. You give him 5.5 for “good intentions” and being at fault for the goal after letting his players go without a foul and you give Leao 4.5. If someone had “good intentions” it was Leao, but he realized again he has to go alone. Pulisic tried something, he also had “good intentions” but executed almost everything badly etc. Reijnders was useless, just like he was against Inter and against Juventus. He will again be useless when playing against top teams, and I have said this the day they signed him. Mediocre player for matches against Verona and Spezia. Zaire-Emery is a space shuttle for him, he dribbles, assists, defends, does everything properly. Reijnders did not do anything, the so called “playmaker” was invisible and did nothing for the team, midfield was non-existent and the biggest reason is that they couldn’t hold the ball for 20 seconds. Musah is actually good besides the player he didn’t mark on corner but you need to place him next to 2 top players and he will become one. Reijnders, Krunic and co never will. Anyone who can’t see it after Inter, Juventus and PSG matches can remember this and watch him against PSG again, or Napoli. Or any team that has good midfield.

    1. 1000% facts. At some point we gotta talk about golden boy Kr….. Reinjders. He’s flying under the radar of criticism because ppl are embroiled between Pioli, Leao and Krunic. But he should be taking blame. Without mistakes from him and Musah, we’d still be in the game at 0-0. Adli ain’t off the hook either but that’s for a different time.

But remember a 26 year old Reinjders with experience got schooled by a 17, year old
      Jus sayin

      1. That kid is a future world class player. Not yet but he is already superior to Reijnders. Easy to be great against weaker teams, but when the real players are opposing him he is invisible. Keeps happening and I can only read how Leao is bad. If he won games alone and every game he would be paid 15-20m per season and wouldn’t be playing at Milan.

  47. The Coach is to be blame for the loss and struggling. He’s a limited coach and don’t read the game at all either the team is winning or losing. You can’t play the same formation that is keeping your team struggling must time and you expect a better results.
The 4-3-3 formation is good for a team when you have stronger, athletic midfielders and able to recover back when they lose ball.
Midfield is the engine and powerhouse of every good and successful team. They are struggling because the midfield is struggling, and that will expose the back-four and goalkeeper to opponent threat.

Adli plays better has DM than beloved-Pioli Krunic, even though he’s an offensive playmaker. He keep pass flow upfront, not backward has Krunic does. People should stop defending Krunic, he should be out of the team by January.
Musah is still the better player for the No6 role.

4-2-3-1 is still the best formation to use.
Double-pivot midfielder of last season keeps the midfield stable and allow the wingers and attacker plays offensively against opponent.
Pioli ignoring the 4-2-3-1 formation that bring out the best from your players is causing the team struggling.

Barcelona plays with 18+ 19+ old young players and even Warren Zaire-Emery of PSG is just 17years played better because the Coach have faith in them, but to Milan Pioli the young players are not ready yet, and Krunic is alway ready.
It’s better to start playing Luka Romero, Bartesaghi and Adli before he kills them their talent.

  48. The coach doesnt believe in his squad. I like Giroud but his time is up. He should start believing in Okafor and Jovic. Krunic needs to go he is too slow for the modern game (Giroud as well). Our coach has a squad full of talent but is failing to utilise it his tactics are a far cry from today’s modern game.

Revert back to the 4-2-3-1 or 4-2-1-3 cause these inverted RB/LB shit and crowding the midfield with players who arent smart with ball is costing us. RB we need a starter Calabria be back up. CB Thiaw/Kalulu, Tomori. LB – Theo

    CDM – RLC/Pobega/Adli CDM – Bennacer/Tiijan/Musah

    CAM – Pulisic

    RW – Chuku/Romero
ST – Jovic/Okafor/Giroud in that order
    LW – Leao

    1. Yes yes and yes… I said it many times. We finally have players to play a 4 2 3 1 and we switch formation. Leao pulisic chukwueze as the trident. Reijnders can move the attacking mid if there’s injuries. We have okafor Jovic Romero as subs. For the double pivot we have loftus musah krunic reijnders adli to sub. I said after preseason games that we would revert back to a 4 2 3 1 by match day 5…i should be right if it wasn’t for pioli’s stubborness

  49. Not only Krunic but whole midfield is utterly sh*t. Can’t create nothing, can’t defend nothing. Just a bunch of average Bertolacci-esque ball chasers is what they are.

    1. Krunic is keeping the tempo of the team slow, because he’s a fucking bullshit player and does not know what to do with ball on time.
He’s the one that dictate the tempo on the team, because he carry the ball from the back-four to make pass flow upfront, but end up making a backpass again.
Only Musah has more ground in midfield.
Pioli is more more selfish coach leaving Krunic 75mins before thinking on substitute, a sluggish player with a card.

      1. What did Reijnders do when he got the ball? Passed back or a bad pass forward. YOu can’t blame everything on Krunic, Reijnders has shown he is an average player and about 3 times worse than a 17 year old kid in PSG. How that kid plays, he should. But he never will as he isn’t a top player.

  50. I think it should be noted that we are absolutely horrible in dead balls. Opposing teams can pretty much fool our players outside the box all day long because we never score from freekicks. I don’t feel excited waiting for a corner or a freekick anymore and one freekick that was about 20 meters away was taken by…Tomori !
It’s absolutely inforgivable to be so bad at deadballes.
The question is, does this team practise deadballs during their training ? Also, when recruiting new players, does this “algorithm” take into account the deadballs ?

  51. Speaking as a 40 year fan of Milan, the majority of commenters on here are lousy excuses for fans. Get behind the team. If we don’t get the result we ALL want, get behind them anyway.

Wanting the coach fired, constantly rubbishing our players, even eating to lose so the coach is fired….are you Interista because you sound and act like one ?

Be real. We were better than Juve and beaten by a lucky goal. We made a good effort against PSG, but they have unlimited fiscal power, have players that we cannot afford and some days this difference will tell.

Every 4 days there is another chance at glory, personally I will be behind the team as ever and optimistic that we can get the win.

    1. Yes, their super expensive 17 year old destroyed our midfield. Feel free to be behind anything you want, but why are you trying to tell others how to behave and what to think and say? Midfield is horrible, couldn’t hold the ball for 20 seconds. If you are optimistic about that, you can find the issue in yourself, not others. Are you an id**ot or a mo**on because you sound and act like one? I would say no but based on your assumptions up there, yes.

      1. I am not telling you what to do much less “think”.

But don’t pretend to support the club when you demonstrably do not, you have made half a dozen posts on this thread and haven’t said a single supportive or positive thing. Supporters support, detractors detract.
It is abundantly clear which you are.

        1. No “Rich”, cowards like you blindly support anything, the planet is full of you, an invasion of mindless and thoughtless supporters of a team, a person etc. Supporting blindly whatever happens. Don’t teach me the basic things in life you obviously couldn’t learn. Abundantly clear you are that person, gtfo with your “smart” comments.

        2. And everytime you insult people that are not being positive about 3-0 loss by calling them interistas, I’ll write the worse possible comment to you. I hate people without any real substance that only have extremely stupid attempts to insult people. Id**tic beyond belief. At least try something intelligent.

          1. Hey don’t shoot the messenger, I am merely observing YOUR (shitty) behaviour. You attack the club, its manager, the players and now also a supporter. And you think you are a fan, you’re another level of delusional.

          2. I’m just the messenger, merely observing YOUR behaviour. You chose to reply to a post calling out lousy fans, what does that say ?

You attack the players, the manager, the club, supporters and you think you are a fan. You could probably still be tell yourself that while taking a hammer to the San Siro.

I won’t ask you to try something intelligent, because I don’t want to be responsible for an aneurysm.

          3. Sure. More meaningless proverbs and intelligent sentences. I won’t bother with someone like you. Don’t be a coward, man up.

  52. At some point we also gotta talk about who let Tomori take a direct free kick 20 years out. Who’s game plan was that?
We have Puli, Reinjders, Giroud, Theo and I’ll throw Krunic in there as he’s actually underrated on set pieces…and we went with…. Tomori????
