Player Ratings: SPAL 2-3 AC Milan – Impressive Kessie not enough for UCL qualification

By Fred Ilondo -

AC Milan’s victory over SPAL on the last day of the season was not enough to give the Rossoneri the Champions League spot.

Frank Kessie was a true stand out, scoring a brace with Calhanoglu also putting his name on the score-sheet.

STARTING XI

Donnarumma (6): Did not get anything to do, however, Gigio looked solid before his sudden injury.

Abate (6): For his last game, the veteran kept the right flanks safe with a fairly decent performance.

Musacchio (6): A bit clumsy as always but did enough to allow his team to hang on to their lead.

Romagnoli (6.5): Kept petagna quiet all night long and blocked many dangerous balls.

Rodriguez (6.5): A great performance from the left back. brought a lot going forward and was solid in defense most of the time.

Kessie (7) MOTM: With a brace and an assist, it is clear that Kessie came to play. his work rate was extremely high and he was truly effective both defensively and offensively.

Bakayoko (6.5): Recovered the ball and blocked dangerous attacks. Even though it was far from being his best performance, it is fair to note that he did well.

Calhanoglu (6.5): Easily the most dangerous player on the pitch tonight, most of his shots were accurate, with one of them giving his team the lead.

Suso (6): Not a completely awful performance for the winger, however, we have seen him perform better than this. his decision making in particular was quite shocking.

Piatek (6): Despite showing a lot of passion and grit, the polish failed to have an impact on the game yet again but this time he cannot claim he did not receive any service.

Borini (5): If you stopped paying attention for a few minutes, you would have forgotten he was even on the pitch.

SUBSTITUTIONS

Reina (6): Had a lot to do after coming on for Donnarumma and did well enough, despite not making any crucial save.

Cutrone (5.5): Definitely one of the worst performance from the youngster. his biggest contribution was making his team worse.
