PM: Chelsea man only a back-up as Milan director Massara dreams of Benfica starlet

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have prioritised the signing of Benfica midfielder Florentino Luis over Chelsea’s Tiemoue Bakayoko, a report claims.

One of the priorities for the management appears to be to strengthen the midfield, as Pioli will continue with a 4-2-3-1 but alternatives to Kessie and Bennacer are needed.

The name of Tiemouè Bakayoko keeps being, a player who left the Rossoneri a year ago after a successful loan spell, but whose profile has always remained an option.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) reported earlier today that the Frenchman is willing to drastically reduce his salary from around €6million net to the €3m plus bonuses offered by Milan, with personal terms now agreed.

According to PianetaMilan however, Bakayoko is in fact only a second choice to the man that sporting director Ricky Massara is dreaming of bringing in.

The primary objective for the midfield at present is Florentino Luis of Benfica. The 20-year-old fits in with the club’s vision of signing young players with potential, and Massara is convinced that the purchase of the midfielder can give further depth to the department.

Milan at this moment wants to give priority to the renewal of Zlatan Ibrahimovic first, but in the coming weeks the Devil will attempt a lunge with Benfica. The formula could be a loan (one or two-year) with an option or obligation to buy.
