PM: Identikit for new striker outlined as Maldini wants Milan to make a mark in the Champions League

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are keen on signing a new striker during the summer transfer window to give Zlatan Ibrahimovic a reliable deputy, a report claims.

According to PianetaMilan, the common hope of the management is that next year the Rossoneri will play in the Champions League and will not just be there to make up the numbers, as happened to some Italian sides over the last few years such as Inter.

In order to make a mark in the tournament though, they need to present themselves with an adequate squad which means that quality is needed in all departments and not just in terms of the first choices but also in depth too.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is very likely to sign a new deal at Milan as the management know the importance that Ibra has on and off the pitch. However, this does not mean that an alternative should not be sought especially given the physical problems so far this season.

There is nobody currently in the squad who can replace him. Paolo Maldini is looking for a striker who is young and with high potential, so that he can grow behind Ibrahimovic next year and then maybe immediately take his place as a starter when the time is right.
