PM: Milan hold fresh talks over deal for Atalanta man – deal could soon be unlocked

There have been new contacts between AC Milan and Atalanta over a potential deal for Atalanta forward Josip Ilicic, according to a report.

PianetaMilan confirm that Milan are continuing to think about Ilicic as an opportunity to bolster the attacking department with some quality and experience. The attacking midfielder looks destined to Atalanta, as stated by Gasperini himself last Saturday: “Ilicic expressed a desire to try a new experience at the end of the season.”

With his contract expiring in 2022 and with the amount of players available to Atalanta, the Slovenia international could be available in an advantageous deal and could also be very useful for the 4-2-3-1 of Pioli.

The report adds that there have been new contacts between Milan and Atalanta for Ilicic. Maldini and Massara would be willing to sign the former Palermo star without giving up the bonuses that are part of the Matteo Pessina operation. Milan are entitled to 50% of future resale but that expires once he hits 100 appearances for La Dea, and then a bonus payment of €3m is issued to the Rossoneri.

The feeling is that something could be unlocked in the next few days as per the report. It seems to be a solution that makes sense for all parties.
