PM: Milan likely to reject midfielder’s €8m option with Swede lined up to replace him

AC Milan are not likely to use their option to buy and keep Soualiho Meite, a report claims, and his replacement is already lined up.

Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara are planning for next season and they want to build a squad ready to participate in the Champions League, according to PianetaMilan, with the midfield department one that could undergo some changes.

Franck Kessie is the one certainty but Ismael Bennacer had many physical problems, while Sandro Tonali has not yet found the consistency necessary to make the leap in quality. Then there is Soualiho Meite, who in general he is struggling to fit into Pioli’s schemes, so it is unlikely that Milan will spend the €8m needed to make his deal permanent and he should return to Torino.

The Rossoneri management are very interested in Mattias Svanberg of Bologna, as the Swede is having an excellent season and is used to playing the 4-2-3-1 formation. The Swede would join compatriot Zlatan Ibrahimovic and has a valuation of around €10million, with his contract expiring in 2023. If Milan were to qualify for the next Champions League, they could seal the deal, given Leicester and Southampton are also sniffing.
