Pobega settles into a ‘hybrid’ midfield role as Milan closely watch his development

AC Milan loanee Tommaso Pobega has admitted that there is some ‘regret’ that Torino were unable to get all three points against Inter, while the Rossoneri observe his role.

Pobega spoke to the microphones of the official Torino channel, analysing their performance against Inter and also talking about his position as a hybrid attacking midfielder.

“There is so much regret. We approached it well. We tried everything to get back to winning. In the end we did not succeed probably due to our lack of precision and clarity,” he said.

“We recovered several balls in their half, but we weren’t able to be precise to counter well. This spoiled our performance a bit. We had a bit of flu [outbreak], but we managed to work well. In fact, physically we did well. It hurts. We must try to stay focused until the very end. It means that something is missing.

On his position, he added: “It’s a bit of a hybrid position. The coach asks me to help both in attack and in defence. I try to do the best possible with my characteristics.”

As our colleagues at SempreMilan.it write, Pobega will return to Milan at the end of the season to be evaluated by Stefano Pioli in the preseason ahead of 2022-23. The 22-year-old is developing with each experience in Serie A after his loan at Spezia last season, and is showing considerable flexibility.

The Rossoneri will lose Franck Kessié on a free transfer and will probably make some substantial investments in the midfield but first they must evaluate the resources they already have. Pobega could be a surprise element that is very useful.
