The sale of San Siro and the surrounding areas to AC Milan and Inter is being investigated over suspicions of bid-rigging.
ANSA (via MilanNews) report this morning that searches are underway at Milan City Hall, at the M-I Stadio of Milan and Inter, and at the homes of former managers and consultants of the two teams, as well as of former councillors Giancarlo Tancredi and Ada De Cesaris and the general director of Palazzo Marino, Christiann Malangone.

The Guardia di Finanza are executing a decree issued by preliminary investigations judge Roberto Crepaldi, who granted a request from prosecutors.
Among those under investigation are Mark Van Huukslot and Giuseppe Bonomi, one a former manager of the Nerazzurri, the other president of Sport Life City, a subsidiary of Milan, and Alessandro Antonello, former corporate CEO of Inter.
What is being investigated?
The investigation into the sale of San Siro – co-ordinated by prosecutors Giovanna Cavalleri, Paolo Filippini, and Giovanni Polizzi and entrusted to the members of the Financial and Economic Police Unit of the Milan Guardia di Finanza (Gdf) – alleges bid-rigging and the disclosure of official secrets.
The alleged offences also concern Simona Collarini, former head of the Urban Regeneration sector of the Council and the sole person responsible for the proceedings regarding the stadium. Fabrizio Grena and Marta Spaini – consultants of Inter and Milan respectively – are also mentioned.
The searches – including those of third parties – and the seizure of cell phones underway today became necessary following the development of the contents of the chats and emails collected in the major investigation into the management of urban planning in Milan.
Last summer, this investigation led to several arrests, later overturned by the Review Court and the Supreme Court of Cassation. Tancredi, Malangone and De Cesaris, among others, are already under investigation in the major urban planning investigation.
The hypothesis being investigated is whether the sale of the San Siro to Inter and Milan, for which the Council received €197m, was a transaction that may have favoured private interests at the expense of the public interest.
The suspicion is that the stadium law was ‘used’ to support the urbanisation project in the area and, therefore, certain construction companies.
