Portuguese journalist: Wolves and Milan in ‘advanced contacts’ over winger after €28m bid

By Oliver Fisher -

Wolves are in advanced talks with AC Milan over the signing of forward Rafael Leao, according to a Portuguese journalist.

Portuguese journalist Pedro Almeida reported yesterday that there are ‘open talks’ between Wolverhampton and Milan for Leao, but for now the 22-year-old Portuguese forward would prefer to stay at Milan. The former Sporting CP and Lille starlet is the chosen target for Wolves to replace Daniel Podence, while Marseille are also attentive.

According to the latest from the journalist on Instagram, Wolves are very keen on landing the 22-year-old and have even made an offer to Milan. The bid submitted is €25m fixed plus €3m in bonuses for a potential total of €28m – close to the amount Milan paid to sign him from Lille, and therefore a capital gain after two years of amortisation.

Almeida goes on to add that there are ‘advanced contacts’ between the parties involved, so it could well be that Leao’s adventure in Italy is set to end after two seasons.

  1. Better for Milan to upload Leao with a good price (25-30 million), because he will be Niang part 2. We dont know Milan will use Hauge as backup for Rebic or also let him go for a better left winger such as Damsgaard or lower price figures.

  2. Sell. It’s better that we sell him and use that money to get someone like Berardi. Keep Hauge as the deputy. He’ll be happy enough with that role imo.

  3. Such fake news, Leao isn’t going anywhere 😂😂😂, Milan have no intentions of selling Rafa, it makes zero sense, Mark my word he will be here for the whole season 🎉🎉🎉🎉

  4. I buy this and think he’ll do well in England. He and Trincao would make a good flank pair provided the striker is a mobile one.

Leao will do better with more space, and the verticality of the Premier League should help him regain some of his form.

Would hope that a resale clause is added on as his value could easily double.

  5. Agree with Joe, Abanjo and Kokis. He plays like a tired veteran and will be Niang pt. 2. If a profit after amortization can be made, jump on it. Hauge as the no. 2 on the left, and use the profit to help bring in a CAM or a better RW than Castillejo. Good business.

  6. If this goes through, it would be a double win: Leao could finally express himself and both teams should be satisfied. PL might suit him better. I don’t expect him to do better if he stays. But I doubt this move could be go through…
