Portuguese journalist: Wolves and Milan in ‘advanced contacts’ over winger after €28m bid

Wolves are in advanced talks with AC Milan over the signing of forward Rafael Leao, according to a Portuguese journalist.

Portuguese journalist Pedro Almeida reported yesterday that there are ‘open talks’ between Wolverhampton and Milan for Leao, but for now the 22-year-old Portuguese forward would prefer to stay at Milan. The former Sporting CP and Lille starlet is the chosen target for Wolves to replace Daniel Podence, while Marseille are also attentive.

According to the latest from the journalist on Instagram, Wolves are very keen on landing the 22-year-old and have even made an offer to Milan. The bid submitted is €25m fixed plus €3m in bonuses for a potential total of €28m – close to the amount Milan paid to sign him from Lille, and therefore a capital gain after two years of amortisation.

Almeida goes on to add that there are ‘advanced contacts’ between the parties involved, so it could well be that Leao’s adventure in Italy is set to end after two seasons.
