Paulo Fonseca’s position has come under scrutiny once again, following the defeat to Atalanta, and fans are debating which manager could replace him. Based on previous events, there are a few obvious candidates.
It should be noted that Milan have reiterated their faith in Fonseca and currently have no intention of parting ways with him. Everything said below, therefore, will be in hypothetical terms and will also include quite a lot of speculation.
The realistic one: Maurizio Sarri
He has been linked with Milan before, plenty of times actually, and we exclusively revealed at the end of last year that the Rossoneri were keeping a close eye on him. His ability to work with young players is crucial, as well as his tendency to get everyone in line.
He seems eager to get back on the bench and Milan would be the perfect opportunity for him, even if not having a pre-season wouldn’t be ideal. Still, he’s probably the most realistic choice as the Rossoneri wouldn’t want to make gambles.
The futuristic one: Edin Terzic
Terzic was mentioned quite a lot before Milan hired Fonseca, and at one point earlier this season it was even reported that Zlatan Ibrahimovic had spoken to him personally. In other words, at least if that is true, he has already been considered as an emergency replacement.
The German has been without a club since the end of last season and although he doesn’t have an extensive track record, the feeling is that he would be a more ‘futuristic’ choice. Then again, this was the type Milan opted for – at least according to them – with Fonseca as well.
The surprising one: Roberto Mancini
The former Italy manager has left his role as the coach of Saudi Arabia and has already made it clear that he would like a return to Italy. He’s a name that many of you readers have mentioned in the comments, though maybe he’s not the right fit for the club.
The fact that he hasn’t been in club football for quite some time now is also a worry, so it would certainly be a surprise choice by the Rossoneri. It seems very unlikely, to be honest, but he’s Italian and would like to return – which could matter.
The ironic one: Sergio Conceicao
At the end of Milan’s managerial pursuit, before they went with Fonseca, it was the battle of the two Portuguese managers. Conceicao was clearly favoured among the fans and for him to be considered a potential replacement would certainly be ironic.
He has also been without a club since the end of last season and sooner rather than later, he will want to get back on the horse. Marco Baroni is also doing well at the club of his heart, Lazio, so there doesn’t seem to be an opening there either.
The crazy one: Carlo Ancelotti
Okay, hear us out, Real Madrid haven’t exactly been brilliant this season and a potential departure for Ancelotti cannot be completely ruled out. The feeling is that he might decide to retire if that were to materialise, but maybe he would be up for one last ride at Milan.
It would certainly be a crazy choice, and we don’t mean in a negative way here. On the other hand, Milan need something that will last for at least a few seasons and Ancelotti perhaps isn’t the best choice in that sense. But we would all like to see it, of course.
Pointless article. Fonseca is going nowhere. Management is going nowhere. Milan also sadly going nowhere for the foreseeable future…
😭😭😭 it’s painfully true
Well put. However, the lack of Champions League revenue might give Redbird the impetus needed to do the drastic and change the coach, even more so since Pioli is off the payroll.
💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯
Maybe, but whatever their goals are, they require CL football. This is in doubt. So, so their hand will be forced to change Fonseca at some point.
Unless a Serie A-proven coach is considered, it makes no sense to fire Fonseca. It is not that Gerry could employ Klopp.
Nobody asked you Inter fan boy
I could not care less if my comment concerns you.
Dude get a life
Having to comment on your bitter rival team for attention, is so cringe. I catch second hand embarrassment off of it.
He was not rude, you guys were.
This is an Inter fan. This is why the rivalry is so soft these days and players don’t have any grinta. This is the enemy and will forever be the enemy. His team is the reason why they have 2 stars and not ours from a fake football scandal that let them a Scudetto undeservedly and 4 more on the trot. This dude came here and shat on our team after they beat us in the derby for the title last year in this forum and you want me (us?) to welcome him with open arms. Nah bro!
He’s a fan, not an enemy, grow you. Child.
Exactly why you’re soft Uber. You don’t understand rivalries. You’ve never played games against your school’s rivals in “derbies” before?
He’s a fan, not our fan. Stick with the Inter threads. Why is he on our thread talking about our team? I barely watch Inter games. This dude can diagnose our whole team lol. No wonder why the game’s gone soft. Dude just walks in here, trash talks our team and you guys are all ok with that. Then wonders why players don’t bleed for the shirt anymore. Their team is the reason our team (not to mention the whole league) suffered and lost Scudettos. You need to brush up on your history
Huh?? You again??
TROLL
This kid must have been kicked off his own team’s site he has to come here lol
Embarrassing
Yes, Klopp isn’t available until next summer.
What’s with this forum and Klopp obsession? He already decided his future few months ago. He’ll be the head of global soccer at Red Bull. And looks like he has no interest in coaching a club level again. As it’s said that he asked for a clause to leave the club if the offer from Germany national team arrives.
So stop with this daylight dream.
The team is starting look better and you want to change managers? Wiat the year and judge the team by how they are playing. Be honest- the Atalanta game was a toss up.
Found the redbird shill🤡
LMFAO 😂😂😂😂 nah, this has to be a troll post. Thanks for the laugh
better how? When? What games are you watching, man?
Maybe he means when we put 6 psst Sassuolo’s B team.
I have always said it and will keep saying it ,fonseca is a coach meant to be at empoli or pascara .the man lack all it takes to be a coach ,he has no ideas and no plans ,bring allegri and see milan flourish again .only a du^b top club like milan will hire a coach of no standard and no proven record of success .and I dislike it wen people call fonseca and upgrade to pioli .that is an insult on piolis record and character
Any of Conceicao Mancini would do. Team needs the personality.
The one i belive would not be idea is Sarri. Not so much about performance and result even if I think his football hasn’t evolved or instead been declining after his Napoli days were he was absolutely world class, the guy have a good record of having issues with club owners and directors and when he’s exploding he explodes.
The stubborn of our managers and director will stay with Fonseca until the end of the season. And another season thrown away, just because they don’t want to admit that Fonseca was not the best option to coach this team. Unfortunately everyone can see that we are not going nowhere with this coach but the club don’t see it!!! Wake up from your sleep and change now before it get worst!!!!
Can’t wait for Uberhulk to post no other major coach was available during the summer…. 🍿
🤣🤣
I think Xavi Hernandez would be the ideal coach for this team if we’re going for coaches with an attractive style of football. We missed out on Hansi Flick; I hope we don’t miss out on Xavi before he signs for another team. Then again, I don’t know how they decide coaches up there. First it was that coach who’s at Westham(I don’t remember his name) before they decided on Fonseca. I can only hope their algorithm points them to Xavi. As for Fonseca, I still don’t understand how he doesn’t show a glimpse of what we saw in preseason. I never wanted him but when I watched his team in preseason I was optimistic… Now I can’t even see a modicum of the attractive football we saw in preseason. 🤦🏾♂️
Not a schill, but not someone who changes managers repeatedly. First Pioli, and now Fonseca? Pioli got a second place finish with all the injuries. Inter were just a better team. Accept it. Never let fans manager a team as they are irrational. ACM has started to play better as of late- improved movement and better structure on defense. Players are still too slow to make passes and don’t make passes that split defenders. If you change managers you are going back to square one. Also, many of the players are not as good as people think.
Clownseca is worse than Giampaolo. How can he keep the job so long. But it’s too late to replace him, new coach will be hard to integrate perfectly. And now we’re aiming to finish at conference league zone
Get rid of this American ownership who have no knowledge of European football. Mr Cardinale is a Charlatan.
Clowns 🤡 🤡 🤡
the Dream One:
– coach Ancelotti,
– Uncle Faster as advisor (to replace scaroni/ Z)
– bring back Maldini & Masara/ Leonardo,
– jeri listen to Uncle, Caleto, Maldini & then spend
Seedorf as trquartista with pippo and schevchenko as attackers, bench should be Ronaldinho, Thiago Silva and Kevin Constant. Scudetto, CL and italian supercup is ours.
wait for mister X to come and take PONSECA’s position.
Mister X is always not in the news.
ACM success always with italian coach not foreign coach. Sarri are best choice to replace fonseca now. Give him chance just like ACM give chance to pioli as care taker. 352 also best formation for currently squad ACM now, with that formation you dont have to play yunus musah as RW to help emerson in RB
Fati Terim was not an Italian coach, yet he won with Milan in 1999
it was zacceroni, not terim
Get Sarri. Play with 433. Done.
I think Fonseca will deliver, just give him time and all support he needs. He is a winning coach pretty much every where he went.
Sarri’s best days are long behind him. That would be terrible to hire him.
Many said exactly like that about Conte too. That’s why I never care to hear from one dimensional experts here.
ten hag
allegri
conceicao
setien
it all comes down the salary he gets.
also i think if he finishes is very bad spot the management they gonna sack him asap or make drastic changes and sell one or more top players to cover up the names are: Mike Maignan Theo Hernandez Tijani Reijnders Rafael Leao Christian Pulisic Malick Thiaw Fikayo Tomori Alvaro Morata
TEN HAG!!????>
Yep we saw amorim against Nottingham its the board fault not only the coach. Ten Hag if we believe in him but please check out the available coaches and pls tell someone else other than the names i mentioned
Before Paulo Fonseca was employed as Milan coach, I asked series of questions that know one could answer. When he coached AS Roma never qualified for Europa league not to even talk of UCL. And like what I always said that the present Milan team will remain between 7 to 8 position in the log table.
A proving Italian coach is what Milan needed.
It was Conte but they didn’t make a move
Now only choice is Allegri sadly
Fu.. off with Terzic. This guy is able to ruin the team for more than just one season. We‘ll make a cl spot with Fonseca but if we get Ancelotti instead I wouldn’t mind.
I think Fonseca will be there this season , he leaves club at the end of season when we end on 7 place… We can just hope for lucky results with stronger teams and hope our rivals lose points … and also hope for 5 place to CL this year..
There is still time to achieve something. But now, Fonseca don’t look like that coach who knows what we need to do..
I said it when they chased away Pioli, you are going to weep for his return.. He gave us scudetto, semifinals of UCL, standard top four position.. and it supposedly wasn’t enough for today’s ACMilan fans, and mafia board.. Shame on you for what you did to this club.
Fonseca is a Good coach the problem is that we need some players in January to help us we need leao deputy,an attacking midfield,we need a defensive midfield to support Fofana then we sell out Loftus cheek and tomori this analysis is our problem must be resolved by January with that Acmilan will get it right Fonseca is doing well but the mistake is that Loftus cheek should learn how to play defensive midfield because he can’t play attacking midfield he should leave attacking midfield for Reijnder.
Surely our current squad is still better than Lazio and Fiorentina. And also Bologna who’s now becoming our direct rival.
