Reports: Predicted AC Milan XI to face Cagliari – Allegri makes his final choices

AC Milan head coach Massimiliano Allegri has the starting XI already in mind for the season-ending game against Cagliari.

The finish line is 90 minutes away, and Allegri’s side need one more win to secure a Champions League place after a season with many highs and a few lows over the past two months. Fabio Pisacane’s Cagliari arrive at San Siro, already safe after last week’s victory against Torino.

Even if the opponent have nothing left to play for they cannot be taken lightly. Not only that, but the pressure of needing to win for a top four place can do funny things.

AC Milan’s predicted XI to face Cagliari

According to both MilanNews and Sky, Allegri has decided on a three-man defence of Fikayo Tomori, Matteo Gabbia and Strahinja Pavlovic ahead of the goalkeeper and captain Mike Maignan.

Alexis Saelemaekers and Davide Bartesaghi are expected to be the two wing-backs, either side of a midfield three composed of Youssouf Fofana, Ardon Jashari and Adrien Rabiot.

The biggest doubt about the side concerned the attack. Christopher Nkunku will be rewarded for his recent resurgence with a start, and Santiago Gimenez will partner him. The Mexican will hope that his first Serie A goal of the season will come and that it could be the biggest of the campaign so far for the Rossoneri.

It could be a farewell appearance for a number of players including Rafael Leao, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Niclas Füllkrug, all of whom should begin on the bench. Luka Modric has recovered, but should also start on the bench.

Predicted Milan XI (3-5-2): Maignan; Tomori, Gabbia, Pavlovic; Saelemaekers, Fofana, Jashari, Rabiot, Bartesaghi; Nkunku, Gimenez.

      1. That is why he’s the manager and you’re commenting online. De Winter made more mistakes than Tomori this season, played less…

  1. it’s a chance for Jashari and Gimenez to prove their self that they deserve another season. And I really believe in them.
My main concerne is Saele, it should had been Athekame instead who is doing great, and Saele is in such a bad form that he shouldnt even be considered to play at all.
In this whole formation, I don’t agree about Tomori, Saele and Fofana (it should be Ricci or Loftus).
Anyway, FORZA MILAN, we need this win and I pray to God that we win easily and achieve Champions League.

  2. Agree with most of u…..sometimes our coaches don’t learn….They keep on making same mistake. For me, Gimenez don’t have anything to do in this match knowing fully well that Cagliari is coming to San Siro to come and play defensive game and will wait to catch us on d counter. So we need someone who is good at set pieces and can help in defending. Loftus cheek can head better He is tall. We need to draw a lot or corners so we can have more balls in Cagliari goal area. Cagliari players are coming to market themselves for big clubs so surprises are expected in this kind of match so Magnan need to be ever on d alert .
