Reports: Predicted Milan XI for Lecce clash – Musah and Saelemaekers expected

AC Milan could name a strange lineup against Lecce tomorrow night, but Massimiliano Allegri’s hand may be forced.

There have been a few different suggestions about the system that Milan could play on Friday. At first, it seemed a 4-2-3-1 would be tested after work in training this week. However, the Rossoneri have been forced to shelve that.

Instead, with Ardon Jashari’s injury, it seems Allegri will select a 3-5-2 once again, as MilanNews states.

Lecce-Milan: The lineup

Mike Maignan will start between the sticks, whilst a back three should consist of Fikayo Tomori, Matteo Gabbia and Strahinja Pavlovic again, despite suggestions that Koni De Winter could come into the starting XI.

Ahead of them, the same midfield three should continue, and this would see Luka Modric anchor between Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Youssouf Fofana. On the wing, Pervis Estupinan should be selected again, whilst the Italian is expected to name Yunus Musah on the right, as his exit is being blocked.

Leading the line, Santiago Gimenez is, as Allegri put it, the only option to play up front, and he is expected to partner Christian Pulisic, who should play as a second striker.

However, Sky journalist Peppe Di Stefano states that Saelemaekers may play up front due to a small niggle which Pulisic has picked up in his ankle. In this case, the Belgian would play the second striker role next to Gimenez.

Predicted Milan XI (3-5-2): Maignan; Tomori, Gabbia, Pavlovic; Musah, Loftus-Cheek, Modric, Fofana, Estupiñan; Pulisic/Saelemaekers, Gimenez.

  1. Nothing is ever simple with this team. Pulisic injured as well, Jashari out until January. Allegri refusing to play Ricci.

My god we will actually go 0/2 agaisnt the 2 worst teams in Serie A.

  2. Lord help us if Pulisic doesn’t start. Allegri is closer to his dream of starting 5 defenders and 5 midfielders. We still have 1 attacking player out there for now, even tho he is not very good. Why in the world would you start that same midfield 3? Because it worked so well?
Ricci should start at DM and Modric should move up further and send Fofana to the bench.

    1. Exactly- Ricci is wasted on the bench and Modric is wasted further back – and we’re starting the same three geniuses in defence… I can’t believe my nightmare about Allegri returning is coming true…

  3. Cant believe he still wont play Modric as a mezzala where he clearly is the best (as shown over and over again in Real Madrid)? We need that direct passing up the field in the last third.

The dmfs should be Ricci or Jashari (so Ricci until Jashari is back) and Modric next to RLC or Fofana as mezzalas in a 3-5-2. For a 4-2-3-1 Ricci and Fofana behind Modric.

The sooner Allegri wakes up the better.

  4. All this at archaic coach and their coaching style. Allegri has best his best day as coach. I said it, what we need is a young innovative coach. Incompetent management, incompetent coach and 50% of the players are incompetent. It going to be a long season with Allegri, Fofana and RLC combo.

    1. The genuine fact that he may actually force us to play with a midfield of musah rlc and rabiot is enough to make you lose your lunch lmao. We’re crashing fast

    2. That would be De Zervi, who was free a year ago. Not getting him at the time was the worst decision by dumb Milan management.

  5. Let me get this straight. RLC and Fofana were awful last game and arguably responsible for each goal. Musah was the worst player in preseason and is a bum. But, they’ll all start. Poor Ricci.

    1. And allegri would rather sign a washed outcast crybaby from the French league than play him apparently. Absolute dumpster fire

    2. You may have missed the match….Our defense was terrible. Why do you think Milan are scrambling to find a CB after that shambolic defending vs Crem? One that would have dealt with the crosses into the penalty area? That emergency meeting with Allegri and Tare after the match sent the club looking for another CB…And a striker to replace the anonymous Gimenez.

  6. Allegri may genuinely not survive the season…
We have ricci in the team and you wanna play rlc fofana and musah??? We might as well just take an automatic 10th place finish at this rate… and his supposed saviors for us are an out of form Juventus reject striker, and a clown mama’s boy in the french league who throws a tantrum when the club doesn’t wipe his ahh for him. We’re a joke man…

    1. If Ricci is the difference, then Milan is already in trouble.
He is a player that came in from a team that finished 11th last season.

      1. He’s not a world beater, but he’s a good defensive mid with energy to kill, easily the best mid in preseason, and when you consider the other option are Rlc, fofana, and musah… ya, ricci and modric are gonna have to carry the stable. Modirc should play further forward and Ricci lower so he can clean up fofana and musahs mess lol

        1. All of our midfielders were good in pre-season and against Bari, including RLC and Fofana, none of them except Modric had stellar outings vs Crem. Although RLC was rated a 6.

  7. Been really dissapointed of mine from using 90mins Fofana, RLC, Tomori, Pulisic related of thir actual performances.

Of turning Chuky of golden subs is not more an surprising movement

  8. I see RLC performance against Cremonese differently than most. (mostly b/c he was not played as a mid but more on the front line by the way I saw things)

But Fofana was a clown show last game. It is baffling to me that Ricci is not starting. (heck it is baffling he didn’t come in after the first half for Fofana)

B/c I still think Max is a smart guy I think we get the following tomorrow:

    Mike
    Tomorri – Gabbia – Pav
    ?? – Ricci – Modric – Estupinan
    Saelemakers – Gimenz – Puli

Not sure who plays RWB. Could be Tomorri or Saelemakers. If Saele, then I’d suspect that RLC moves into his spot and we look more like a 3421 base and 541 in defense.

Regardless it is not enough for us to win. I need to see us dominate the game via score and possession.

    1. Problem there is the midfield would get completely overrun. Look at man utd nowadays, they do this same thing and casemiro and Fernandes look like they’re a combined 90yrs old. They just get completely run over. Unfortunately we have no jashari now so we will probably have to field fofana next to them in a 3

  9. If Pulisic doesn’t start for “tactical purposes, here’s a tip of the hat to those who predicted he’d be benched in Allegri’s system.

    1. As soon as Allegri was hired Pulisic was in trouble. If he’s fit to be on the bench and to play if needed that tells you something. This will be his last year at AC Milan as he will want to leave after the WC and ACM will need the money. Sad that a big team needs to play dirty to beat a little team. Allegri’s days are past.

  10. Either we lose the match or win with jst a single goal & a terrible play. I don’t like Allegri to be honest, & he can not secure Championships League place with the way he is to be playing.

  11. 100% wrong formation and selection
Tomori and Laftus Check are minus two,Plus Putting Ricci on the bench means Destruction,The Hole Team has no Playmaker what a disastur,
Why are the New signing on the bench are the game lookers,
Bertesaghi,Sacharyia and De Winter and Ricci must be the line upps, 4:4;2 system or 4:2;3:1

  12. loftus-fofana-musah today we strugle to win the game alegri with this players we go back as last year 11th place

  13. With allegri there we be no attractive football. Never he doesn’t play it. It will be had for milan to score 3 or 4 goals with any seria c team. The form of defending in today football is attacking. That is what allegri lack. His days are gone. It’s sad to see all this result against milan. Allegri is not the right man.
