Tuttosport: ‘Protect their star’ – Premier League interest another reason for Milan’s Bartesaghi renewal

Davide Bartesaghi will renew his deal with AC Milan shortly it seems, and the reasoning behind the move is quite clear.

There can be no denying that Milan want to renew Bartesaghi’s contract for his performances. Since taking the spot from Pervis Estupinan, the Italian has shown the potential that many believed that he had.

Whilst there are still questionable moments from the youngster, he is still early in his career. So, they can be ironed out, and the Rossoneri believe that he will do, so this extended sign of trust is only further proof of this.

Bartesaghi’s protection

As reports today have suggested, the Diavolo are prepared to give the Italian a bumper offer on his new deal, which will see him extend his contract until 2031. Additionally, his current €600k salary will be tripled, seeing him move to a €1.8 million per season deal.

MilanNews24 relays from Tuttosport that the deal is being pushed in a move to ‘protect their star’ with Premier League clubs sniffing. Arsenal are very keen on the youngster, but this renewal will hopefully put them off.

Failing that, his value will move above the €50m mark, which should be off-putting to many as well. This is a clear wall set up by Milan to protect Bartesaghi from the outside, and he has every intention of signing it.

  1. I almost can’t remember any bad moves he has done. I think he is very impressive in both technique, also how he reads the game, his physical abilities and also his self confidence. He plays way beyond his years and takes responsibility in a way beyond his years.

He has every chance to become a real star and has quickly become one of my favourite players in this Milan team.

    1. He’s given away 2 penalties (1 vs Roma, which Pellegrini scored and 1 vs Genoa, which Stanciu missed). He was also responsible for the goal conceded against Fiorentina in our 1-1 draw against them (did not pick up Comotto) and the goal against Como (which thankfully didn’t mean anything as we won 3-1).

That’s 4 points dropped in the last 5 matches because of him.

He’s made mistakes, and it’s cost us points.

Love the kid, but there’s way too much bias towards protecting him because he’s a youth product.

        1. Thanks James Peter Ryan, Bart is still learning how to defend and attacking like Rabiot, Dollarumma, and Pirlo or Tonali at the beginning but he will grow up in the next couple years. That’s why EPL team liked him so much

      1. Thank you.. but remember this is first season when he play reguler and play more than 5 games. Compare to Pervis who are reguler player at NT but need more time to adapt, i could see Barte is better option unless we still have Theo

  2. Liverpool bought Jacquet for €72m with no experience in top-tier league, just ligue 2..
i think bartesaghi should have been labelled more than €72m..

  3. With his 190cm tall, bartesaghi can be Milan CB in the future but if arsenal jump in with 40m minimum payment, I think Milan management will be shake hands. Hehe…

  4. €50mill is not a big deal for any Premier league team to cough out, unless that’s the amount they want if they should sell.

With proper coaching, he would be world class in less than two years.
