Premier League strugglers Everton made a last-ditch attempt to sign Olivier Giroud on transfer deadline day but it was rejected by both the club and the player, a report claims.
As has been reported by Sky Sport (via Milan News), the relegation-threatened side tried to turn the French striker’s head by offering him a contract worth £8.5 million per season.
The Rossoneri were quick to block the advances of the Toffees and Giroud himself was quick to make it clear that he won’t be pursuing the move.
Everton have just appointed Sean Dyche as their new coach and were desperate to give him more firepower as the club fights against a relegation that has felt on the cards for many seasons.
Giroud is expected to sign a new contract now that the transfer window is over and it will keep him at the club for another year on the same salary as he is currently on.
