Preview: AS Roma vs. AC Milan Women – Background and how to watch

By Steph Insixiengmay -

After a brief hiatus for the international break, which saw Italy qualify for next year’s Women’s World Cup, the AC Milan Women will return to action this weekend.

The Rossonere will play AS Roma this Saturday and kick-off time will be at 14:30 CEST. Here’s an overview of what you need to know before the match…

The background

AC Milan and AS Roma have met a total of nine times. Their first meeting was back in December of 2018. Milan won that game by a score 2-1 and Valentina Giacinti was one of the goal-scorers. Now, she’ll be suiting up for the Giallorosse.

Milan ended their first game of the season against Fiorentina with a 3-1 loss. This weekend, they’ll be staring down the barrel of another gun and one of their former players will be a bullet in that chamber. Though Roma has never beaten Milan in a competitive fixture, they did beat them in a penalty shootout for the Coppa Italia back in 2021.

Roma also won their first game of the season against Pomigliano by a score of 2-0, in contrast to the Rossonere. They also qualified for the next stage of the UWCL qualification by beating Paris FC on penalties. The team from the capital will, therefore, have momentum on their side. Milan, on the other hand, have yet to find it.

Prediction

As with most things in life, there is a first time for every thing. Don’t be surprised if Milan lose this game. But do be surprised if they manage to acquire a point, or win it.

How to Watch

If you live Italy, the game will be shown on MilanTV and TimVision. For the UK, US, Germany, and Ireland, the game will be on Ata Football. For the rest of the world, check your local listings.
