AC Milan are preparing for a huge game against Bologna tomorrow night, and the latest reports about the potential lineup have been released.

The magnitude of tomorrow’s game cannot be underestimated. If Milan win, they are in a fantastic place for Champions League football next season, anything else will feel like a killer blow, which ultimately no one can afford at the moment.

Milan News, this evening, bring the probable team news, and there are a few changes possible.

Mike Maignan is expected to remain in goal, and he will again be shielded by Alex Jimenez, Strahinja Pavlovic and Theo Hernandez. However, the centre-back partner for the Serb is in the air. Fikayo Tomori seemed to be the preference earlier on Wednesday, but it seems that Thiaw will continue in central defence.

Yunus Musah is also expected to retain his midfield position, this time alongside Youssouf Fofana, who returns to the XI from the start.

Tijjani Reijnders seems likely to operate in the Trequartista role currently, but he could be moved back into midfield for Musah to operate on the right. This is dependent on one thing – who remains in the Fab Four.

Christian Pulisic and Santiago Gimenez are secure, but Rafael Leao and Joao Felix are competing for a spot. At present, Leao seems more likely, with Sergio Conceicao testing a more defensive system in training.

  1. We don’t need João Felix. We need a deputy for Leão with defensive characteristics much like Salad should be for Pulisic.

    1. We need a deputy for Leao?
We need a starting left winger, not a deputy. Leao should be the deputy, as Costacurta said.
      Alessandro Costacurta spoke to
@SkySport: “Milan can do without Leao. The spirit shown in the second half against Torino makes me think that this team can improve, also because Conceição will be able to coach them. Leao has often shown this year that he performs better when coming on as a substitute rather than when starting the match. I believe that he is not a champion capable of deciding games, and as a result, I think there are others who, through a spirit of sacrifice and a clarity in the box that Leao lacks, can do better.”

      1. He does well as a substitute because he believes he’s playing for a starting spot. The moment he realizes he’s actually a sub, he’ll pout and drag @ss even more. Just move on from him and Theo.

        1. He does better as a substitute because the starting RB on the opposing team is tired. That’s what happened vs Inter in the Supercopa. Bisseck was gassed.
He does better as a substitute because he is not a 90 minutes player.

      2. We saw how they lost last match after leao sub.

Yes we need a deputy for leao.

        Leao’s stats still looks fine.

When you don’t blame mousah then stop blaming leao and blame the management

        1. Talk to Costacurta, I bet you know more about football than a guy who has probably won more trophies than Leao’s “fine” stats.

        2. “We saw how they lost last match after leao sub.”

LOL!!! We were already losing with him on the pitch and managed to score without him. YOu Leao-fanbois are ridiculous.

  2. I’m all for Leao starting but if he doesn’t score at least 1 goal with Calabria trying to guard him he should never play again.

      1. Calabria will have help. He will have told them that Leao struggles with the double marking. Won’t be that hard to get him off the ball. He’ll either pass it back down to Theo, or make a poor pass forward and lose it.

    1. That’s basically what you wanted all along. Either way one will get blamed by you. You wanted Calabria to face him because of your love for Emerson and so that you can rant here afterwards thats it’s proof he’s not up to the job of being a good right back for the club. However, if Calabria does a good job, then you’ll simply blame Leao for not showing up. It’s a win-win in your world!

  3. Mike
    Jimenez, Thiaw, Pavlo, Theo
    Musah, Fofana
    Pulisic, Tijji, Leao
    Gimenez

Is not a bad lineup. Hopefully Walker is back soon, and Bondo gets healthy and can play next to Fofana to see how that goes. Stay with the 4-2-3-1. Further experimentation can stop beyond rotating some of the more tired players like Fofana, Tijji and Pulisic. I also think that once Walker is healthy Jimenez should get a couple of starts at LB. We have nothing to lose there.

    1. Jimenez should remain in defence as his upward movement should definitely be rewarded. Bro has been cooking for some time now. We have more capable wide players in more advance positions so keep the lad in defence and Walker can be subbed in for him. Don’t know why we keep sacrificing our promising young players for has-been players.

  4. If the management is all about $, which they are, they have to play Leao to get as much money as they can from him in the summer ,and play Felix probably as little as possible so they can negotiate good terms if they indeed do want him.

  5. We need to stop this Fab Four nonsense. Without a proper, smart midfield who can control tempo of the game playing 1-4-2-fantasia is real suicide.

  6. I mean it can be done. Madrid play Vinny Mbappe Bellingham and Rodrigo at the same time, and pretty much keep playing that way after they do their subs. You need really good players, a good scheme and a lot of willing to sacrifice.

    1. Real doesn’t have players with attitude problems. If there were such issues, they have the material to bench the troublemakers. That’s why they all play for the team as a team.

  7. Best lineup especially now that we have Warren Bondo. Milan need 2 defensive midfielders to cover the back 4 and give Reinjders the freedom to support the 3 attacking players. We can press better with this lineup as it takes the stress off of Leao to track back too often with Musah cover the space behind and Fofana doing the same on the right.

This is how we should always lineup. Joao Felix can sub in for Reinjders. While Bondo can sub in for Fofana or Musah. This will keep the midfield fresh and guarantee that we will have intensity in the midfield.

  8. Better use Sottil in the first half, and use 2 strikers from the beginning.

If Mr. Sergio still use the same formation, same players like before, than why we change Pioli.

Better Pioli still in charge, if we still always and always use the same ‘unwinning’ formation and players.

Still hanging on Leao and Theo, still counting on our left side.

Than Mr. Sergio is only like copy paste Pioli’s tactics. Why he dont use his own ‘ideology’.

Well, actually I dont like it, but I must say that Fonseca is far much better than Mr. Sergio, if he still insist use the same ‘unwinning’ tactics.

  9. For everyone boycotting Leao, they should know that Leao is a pure talent and talented footballers rarely make it nowadays, thats because coaches ask players to play like robots in todays football… Do anyone of u ,think Zidane or Ronaldhino would be able to play in todays football?? Would they press and run like coaches are asking them?? Dont think so, they will end up like Leao ….. Pioli protected Leao and so should every coach .. if we want him to drbble and make dangerous runs, we cant ask him to track back and defend all the time!!! We need a defensive CDM, like Kessie e Tonali, these two were willing to track back and come on the left to help Theo defend… So did Ambrosini and Gattuso for Pirlo… Pirlo’s job was to b free when his players got the ball and dictate the game !!! Leao should do the same, less defend and making himself available when we have the ball…. We are being harsh on Leao… IF WE CONTINUE LIKE THIS, WE WONT SEE ANY ZIDANE, KAKA , PIRLO , RONALDHINO EVER AGAIN IN FOOTBALL…. THATS A FACT

    1. Good point. The small issue here is that, the players you listed above had vision, passing abilities, they could run, feint, shoot etc. Leao on the other hand has a poor conversion rate, and can only run when given space. All the players you listed could operate in confined spaces and didn’t rely only on their pace.
Pls let’s not place Leao in that category yet. The example is the match in which he got subbed, okafor came in, produced a assist from.an identical run to Leao – with the end result locating our player. The result was a goal. That’s the problem with Leao, he does not decelerate fast enough to steady his legs and head to produce an end product others can benefit from. He should listen to mpappe on how he had to learn to decelerate in order to stay composed for a shot, pass or cross to his team mate. When Leao runs at top speed, at full.length, more often than not, his last ball is useless. If he worked on that, he could enjoy the privilege of walking while others defend. But not yet.

    2. Leao is still an average player if you compare him to Zidane, Kaka, Pirlo, Ronaldinho etc. Please don’t go there as you’re really embarrassing yourself.

  10. Acmilan should please use sotill or chukwueze to replace Pulisic in the line up why Warren Bondo should be in place of Fofana.

  11. Sottil should start – he has energy and can wear down the left side – Felix and Leao can come on later when there are tired legs – I’m not sure what difference dropping one or the other will do.
