AC Milan are preparing to face AS Roma in the Coppa Italia on Wednesday night and Sergio Conceicao is not slowing down with his team selections.

It has been a difficult month for Milan and results have largely fluctuated since Conceicao’s arrival. There are many reasons why this could be, from team selections to fitness to quality. However, the Portuguese is keen for success, and this is why he is not taking the foot off the gas.

Instead, he is putting the pedal to the floor, taking every opportunity possible to give his team match minutes to learn the system, and for this reason, a full-strength XI is expected.

As Milan News reports, the defence will be as strong as it possibly can be; Mike Maignan will start, Kyle Walker will make his Coppa Italia debut on the right of Fikayo Tomori and Strahinja Pavlovic whilst Theo Hernandez will flank from the left.

In midfield, Youssouf Fofana will return to the starting eleven after serving his suspension in place of the departed Ismael Bennacer, he will partner Yunus Musah in the midfield, allowing Tijjani Reijnders to return to a more attacking position.

Christian Pulisic, Tammy Abraham and Rafael Leao will lead the side, with Santiago Gimenez, Joao Felix and Riccardo Sottil all available from the bench.

Probable Milan XI (4-2-3-1): Maignan; Walker, Tomori, Pavlovic, Theo; Fofana, Musah; Pulisic, Reijnders, Leao; Abraham

  1. It’s not logical to play best team in coppa in case where every point in serie a is crucial and champions league passing against Netherland team is necessary…

    1. We could give our tired players rest because it’s a cup game? And reps with new teammates. In the case of Joao he knows Leão from national team and I think he played with Pulisic at Chelsea 2023.

    2. I agree.

We have 7 more games to play this month. Some players should take a rest from the game: for me, one of Leao, Pulisic or Reijnders should rest out for tomorrow’s game.

Now is a period of smart rotation if we want to fire in all competition till the end of the season.

    1. Currently RLC and Bondo are injured.
Felix could possibly take his place, but he’s not been playing consistent minutes in EPL like Walker has, so maybe 60 minutes for Tiji and 30 minutes for Felix?

I don’t think Terracciano is ready to play against the big clubs in midfield. Against Inter, he was overloaded and Milan as a whole was pushed back into more defensive positions (which led to their goal).
