SM: Probable Milan XI to face Torino – two changes expected from Bologna draw

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are looking for redemption after the bitter draw at San Siro against Bologna on Monday night, and they do not have much time to let it play on their minds.

According to the information from our colleagues at SempreMilan.it, Stefano Pioli should change a small part of the starting line-up to play against Torino at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino compared to the one that failed to score two days ago.

In goal and in the back four absolutely nothing changes with Mike Maignan between the posts and a back four of Davide Calabria, Pierre Kalulu, Fikayo Tomori and Theo Hernandez set to get starts, meaning Alessio Romagnoli should be on the bench again.

The double pivot duo of Ismael Bennacer and Sandro Tonali should be in midfield again, with Olivier Giroud the centre forward and Rafael Leao on the left all keeping their places.

On the right wing there could be a possible rest for Messias, who appeared lacklustre against Bologna with Alexis Saelemaekers ready to take his place. Then, Franck Kessie should return to the playmaker role with Brahim Diaz on the bench.

Probable Milan XI (4-2-3-1): Maignan; Calabria, Kalulu, Tomori, Theo Hernandez; Tonali, Bennacer; Saelemaekers, Kessie, Leao; Giroud.

    1. Agree. I think Milan played the best when they had rebic and leao starting and interchanging between a striker and right wing during the game. Brahim also played better in that set up

    2. I would put him ahead of Saelemaekers instead. Also not sure why Pioli doesn’t switch to 3 5 2 for the final 20min when goal is needed. Like a dynamic switch just to score a goal:

For final 20min against all defensive opponents (attacking formation):

      Mike
      Calabria Kalulu Tomori
      Leao tonali bennacer kessie rebic
      Zlatan Giroud

  1. Why can’t Rebic start on the RW? I don’t understand why they never try that. Is he THAT uncomfortable on the right that we have to use Messias and Sellhiimnowamaekers? Who cares about subbing Leo, he should play all 90 anyway. I’d rather use those other two as subs then force Rebic to start from the bench. He needs minutes in his legs, let’s go!

  3. Maldini massara are deeming Milan’s lights, if it wasn’t for boban who got us rebic, things would have been horrible, maldini kept on getting defenders, like the high priest ask him to, maldini has something against attacker’s

  4. Saelemaekers is fine at RW, easy to point fingers, it is FOOTball not HEADball, we need more shots on goal fron central areas, he at least on first move goes towards goal.Theo has now been directed to come up the pitch more centrally, keeping Leao from being double marked. And Leao if double teamed instructed to look to assist. Rebic at the 10……Bottom line is this report is smoke and mirrors, come gametime it will change. The big factor is Bellotti, he could have the game of his life, we must stop him.

  5. Saelemakers is not good enough. Rebic absolutely should start ahead of him at RW. Saele has played so many more minutes and produces little. Rebic has played plenty of RW for Croatian national team — he and Perisic (in a 4-2-3-1 used to switch sides mid-match every match during World Cup because they can both play on either side because they can both cross or shoot with both feet).
