Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has been very complimentary of AC Milan after the Champions League draw pitted the two clubs together.
In today’s draw in France, Milan were put in Group F alongside Ligue 1 winner Paris Saint-Germain, Bundesliga runners-up Borussia Dortmund and Premier League side Newcastle United.
Some are calling it the ‘Group of Death’ given the strength of the opponents, but Stefano Pioli’s men will have to beat some challenging sides to prove they are ready for consistent UCL football.
Al-Khelaifi spoke to some reporters in the mixed sone at the end of the Champions League group draw in Monaco and he was asked about his feelings after drawing Milan.
“We are in the Champions League, the best competition in the world where the best clubs play,” he said (via PianetaMilan).
“If you play this competition you have to be ready to face the best and Milan are one of the best clubs in the world with a very important history, that they have a great team and it will be nice to come and play at San Siro where we haven’t played yet.”
Of course, Gianluigi Donnarumma will finally return to San Siro as well after his controversial exit, while Theo Hernandez, Olivier Giroud and Maignan will face off against a few of their French international team-mates. Theo will also face his brother, Lucas.
“Will it be a difficult night for Donnarumma when he returns to San Siro? Well it could be for him, but also for their goalkeeper? I think everything remains within the normality of a match and nothing more.”
