Pub Chat with Lorenzo and Stefano: What could have been in Istanbul

In the latest edition of Pub Chat, Lorenzo and Stefano revisited the infamous Champions League final against Liverpool in Istanbul. The two discussed what could have been for the Rossoneri…

While it was nearly 20 years ago now, many fans remember it like yesterday. After taking a 3-0 lead in the first half, with Paolo Maldini and Hernan Crespo getting on the scoresheet, Milan conceded three goals in the second half. Eventually, they lost the clash on penalties.

In the latest edition of Pub Chat, Lorenzo and Stefano revisited the painful clash, looking back at what Milan did well and could have done better on the night. Especially at half-time, certain subs could have been made to protect the big lead.

Of course, the Rossoneri did get their revenge in the end as they prevailed 2-1 against Liverpool in Athens in 2007, thanks to a brace from Pippo Inzaghi.

  1. Funny you mention the assist by Kaka. I have no recollection of the assist. I have never seen the highlights of the game… Only happy image from the game, printed in my memory, is Maldini’s goal. Rest is erased
