Christian Pulisic had to leave the field after 45 minutes during America’s World Cup opener and the AC Milan forward explained why.
There shouldn’t be any need to fear with Pulisic’s removal from the game in the early morning World Cup fixture. Fabrizio Romano reported that the decision was precautionary, so Milan do not need to start planning for a long-term absence.

Nevertheless, there are certainly a few worries about what it means for the forward in the rest of the tournament.
Pulisic aims to reassure
Speaking to media after the game, Pulisic explained why he had to be substituted earlier than he had hoped, as MilanNews relays.
“I just had a small knock in the first half, so I really hope it’s nothing. We took some precautions today, but I hope I’ll be fine in the first few days. Just the back of my leg, the calf area. But I’ve had similar things in the past and I’m staying positive. I don’t think it’s anything serious at all.”
It is not the first time that Pulisic has struggled with calf problems and the Diavolo have seen a few occasions where it has kept him sidelined. However, the problems stretch back to his time with Chelsea, where he also missed a few games.
If it is precautionary, there may not be too much need to worry. However, the persistent calf problems are not a good sign and he may need a longer break – if not more – if they continue through the tournament.
