CorSport: Pulisic hopes for international attention during World Cup despite Cardinale’s wishes

Christian Pulisic may have his eyes set on a different destination this summer, despite the wishes of the AC Milan owner.

The future of Pulisic is a heavily discussed topic currently. Until he signs a new deal at the club – or decides not to – it will remain the case. Indeed, the American is in the middle ground currently and Milan have little control.

It is no secret that the Rossoneri would like to extend his stay at the club this summer, before his contract officially expires next year, even if they have the option of an additional year. However, renewing his deal now would strengthen their position.

Pulisic’s contrasting goal

A renewal is exactly what Gerry Cardinale would like and an €8 million per year deal could be offered to the star to keep him at San Siro. This morning, Corriere dello Sport reports that this diktat is his main goal this summer, with the winger’s image playing a part, too. Of course, due to the American links.

However, the star may want something different. Indeed, he aims to ‘revitalise his image’ and ‘make a name for himself abroad’. Considering he has asked his agents to assess all incoming proposals, it may not be so simple to keep him with the Rossoneri.

In fact, a decision may have effectively been made already…

  1. He is asking for too much. Rodri and Van Dijk are paid less and nobody would ever consider Pulisic to be better.

    1. You may want to check again. VD makes 18 ml pounds a year. Rodri makes 11.4 ml pounds a year. So, much more then 8 ml euros a year.

      1. Gross. Pulisic is asking for 8M net. You know the difference? Rodri 11.4M pounds gross, 7.6M pounds net. Still a bit over 8M€ net. I’d say a Ballon d’or winner deserves that. For Van Dijk, you are right, he signed a new contract last year. But he was paid under 8M net for all these years. While he was the best PL defender, won CL with Liverpool.

      2. Even if you’re right he has over 8M net, he doesn’t make 18M per year. It is about 10M pounds per year.

  2. Actually the net request I’ve seen for Pulisic is 5-6 milion euros. Not pounds. VVD net is 9.5 to 10 ml pounds or about 11.5 million euros. So this is substantially less then VVD or Rodri. You may think it’s too much but get your facts right.
